Install hanging when registering automation server

I'm tearing my hair out, as well as getting my 4rse kicked by the other half!
We've had iTunes up and running on our Vista Home Premium box for a while, then it just stopped working coming up with an error.
So I've tried re-installing, but 7.3 keeps hanging when trying to register the automation server. Worst still I have to kill it with Task Manager and it leaves a partial install that refuses to uninstall!
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Stuart

Registering Automation Server hangs are actually a 7.x.x.x thing rather than a 7.3.0.54 thing. I've seen them with 7.2.0.x too.
Perhaps try this strategy.
First download and then install the QuickTime standalone installer:
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
If that install goes through properly, then try another iTunes install.
(The theory here is that if your QuickTime is already up to date, the iTunes installer bundle skips the QuickTime part of the install. If the iTunes installer is given less to do, sometimes it gets past the Registering Automation Server hang.)

  • Itunes install hangs at "registering itunes automation server"

    Windows 8 - 64 bit
    Loaded latest Quick Time.
uninstalled itunes ...rebooted...tried installing again but still hangs at "registering itunes automation server"
When I click on "cancel" install...it starts to roll back and says "Files missing"
    Thanks

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Installation freezes during "registering automation server"

I have made multiple attempts after completly uninstalling all Apple applications.  I also tried installing as a different user.  No luck.

Same problem running W7 Pro 64Bit Service Pack 1.  Have used several third party cleaning/removal tools also to "completely" remove iTunes and its associated programs and still no luck with the reinstall.  I am still getting stuck at "Registering iTunes automation server".

    Windows XP right?
Then you need to install this patch before installing ZCM agent: An application that installs a mirror driver over a Terminal Services session may stop responding on a Windows XP-based computer

  • 403 error when registering proxy server (non-central AE)

    Hi all.
I'm getting 403 error when trying to register proxy server in my local non-central Adapter Engine. When listing the ProxyServer servlet available commands (http://host:port/ProxyServer/),  it says that "xi_jpr_register_bindings" security role is required, but my local UME has not that role.
    Thanks,
    Gari.

    Thanks a lot Prateek.
Your reply was very helpful because it works now. One of the configuration steps in the page says to use the Security Provider service of the Visual Administrator to verify that some security roles are assigned to the appropriate user groups. The Scurity Roles section (inside Security Provider service) in my Visual Administrator does not show the roles and groups directly. I had to navigate to ProxyServer and MessagingSystem components so that the roles and groups where visible to me and assign them to my user.
Should I see them into Security Roles section directly? The roles and groups are not visible from User Management Section.
    Thanks again.
    Gari.

  • WAS java install hangs when tries to start engine

I am trying to install a WAS 640 JAVA
I recently deleted and installation off of this server, I dont know if this has anything to do with my problem.
When the new install reaches the last step of starting the J2ee it hangs.
WHat happens is it starts the SCS (dispatcher) then when it tries to start the server it starts a jlaunch process, but then the jlaunch dies.
I am on windows so If I look at the process viewer I see NO jlaonch processes. I do however see that the SCS instance is green in the MMC.
I looked at most of the logs and I can only see the generic error  sapstartserv.exe failed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jeremy Baker

Actually in the inst_dir the startEPQ.log says this
    running G:\usr\sap\EPQ\JC00\exe/sapstart.exe name=EPQ nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=SAP-QEP-DB -wait
    Service restarted successfully.
SAPSTART finished successfully on SAP-QEP-DB_EPQ_00, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:
    G:\usr\sap\EPQ\JC00\exe/sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

  • Oracle 11g Install hangs when "creating clon database"

hi, i'm new with all this stuff, i'm trying to install oracle 11g on a windows 2003 standard edition and the installation hangs in this point:
    http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1458/installni7.jpg
it's almost an hour and it's stuck in 45% when trying to create clon database in "Creating and starting oracle instance".
I checked the log file but it says nothing weird, just that everything went well and a "restore" was made.
    what can i do?
    thanks!!!

If someone still needs an answer to this:
I had a similar problem with 10g. If you use certain special characters in the password for the database during its creation, some script will hang forever at 45% of the database creation. Just use a plain password without special characters. At the end of the database creation you can change all passwords. At that stage you can use special characters without any problem.
I don't know if this is the same in 11g, but it sounds very similar.

  • Printer not installed error when using reports server

Im using three NTYRE architecture when i have to run my application on 128kbps leazed line network across 30 units, requirement is to generate text output at the client side for printing some report formats in character mode.
im trying to generate a text file on server and then download to local machine for printing .but reports server gives an error printer not installed,
i have checking administrative security probs in WINNT ,
pls suggest or is there any other way to generate text reports in NTIER arch.
    regards

    Hi,
You may want to check if a printer is installed in your WinNt system. Reports picks up font information from the default
printer installed in the system when we attempt to generate to file.
    thanks

  • Install lion when snow leopard server is installed

I have a mid 2010 mini server.  It has two separate hard drives.  I want to install Lion on the empty drive, migrarate what I need from the old install and format the first disk.  I was told this was possible.
Now, when I try to buy Lion from the app store it won't let me.  It tells me because I have a server edition, I have to pony up 80 bucks for Lion plus the server stuff.  I don't need the sever stuff.  I don't want the server stuff.  I bought the machine because it was the ONLY (and by only I mean 1 of 1) mini in our authorized reseller (we don't have an Apple Store in Korea).
Is there any way around this?  Do I have to wait for them to ship it on USB key and pay the premium for that?

Currently the only way around this is to use a second Mac and an external HD.
Boot the second Mac from the SL install DVD, select the external HD as the SL install destination.
Install SL and bring up to at least 10.6.6 via Software Update.
Shut down the second Mac, disconnect the external HD and connect it to the mini.
Boot the mini from the external HD.
Download Lion from the App Store.
Select one of the 2 internal HDs on the mini.
You should now have the option of installing Lion client.

  • Leopard  won't Install, hangs when almost done.

    I have a Powermac G5 1.8 ghz with 3.5gb of ram.
I bought the retail Leopard DVD and a brand new 500GB Sata-HD.
All my attempts have failed to install Leopard on my new empty Sata-HD.
Every time I run the installation, it gets to installing ok, but always hangs towards the end.
It stops generally when it says 1 minute left or sometimes at 7 minutes left.
During the 1 or 7 minute left period I leave the G5 alone sometimes for a couple of hours, but no succes.
Than i reboot and try to install again but the same issue appears.
So after 3 installation attempts i have run out of ideas.
    * I checked the the Sata-HD its in good shape and formatted in the good way.
    * My G5 ram is orginal Apple and working fine.
    * Only keyboard and mouse attached.
    * I booted from my Tiger HD and run the hardwaretest cd everything is oke with
    my G5.
Why is a simple installation is not working ?
I saw some people on the net with the same issue but couldn't find a solution.
    A solution or help appreciated.

Thanks for your answers and help.
Its installed Leopard is running will teste it the coming dys on my G5 machine.
A defective orginal Apple( Sony) DVD drive was the failure.
I replaced it with a new Samsung Duallayer and voila got it installed.

  • Cx_oracle ping (OCIPing) hangs when connection to server lost

The cx_oracle ping function appears to be blocking and will wait forever when the connection to the database is broken but the socket still remains.
we're running cx_oracle 4.4 on an Oracle 11.1 server with python 2.5, and have a remote client pushing data to the server across a flakey link.
The basic structure of our python client is
    db = cx_Oracle.connect()
    while True:
    try:
    db.ping()
    cursor = cx_Oracle.Cursor(db)
    cursor.execute(query, params)
    except:
    print "DB error"
so the socket pointer will be there which is checked in the ping command, so it will pass that, but then it will attempt to issue a ping to the server which is where it hangs forever.
Any advice on the best way to get around this?

I would suggest to take this kind of question to the cx_Oracle developer himself here for an exact answer.

    Hi,
Any server in a DAG can host a copy of a mailbox database from any other server in the DAG. When a server is added to a DAG, it works with the other servers in the DAG to provide automatic recovery from failures that affect mailbox databases, such as a disk,
    server, or network failure.
We can undestand more information from this document.

  • Long hangs when connecting to server

This has been a long-standing annoyance...
We have an Xserve with 10.5 in the office.
When I click on the "Network" icon in the sidebar on my Mac, it almost
instantly displays a list of all machines on the nework.
I then double click the Xserve's icon and the wait begins: first the
beach ball followed after a while by a message window "Looking up
    server.local...".
That continues for more than a whole minute until I'm prompted for my
password (it's stored in the keychain) and finally a window pops up
listing all the available shared folders/volumes on the server.
Double-clicking any of them mounts it immediately on my Mac.
Now I keep aliases for the volumes I need to mount regularly. One of
them connects with only a short delay of around 15 secs and no password
    prompts.
However a new alias I created today takes *several minutes* to mount the
respective volume and that just doesn't seem right.
What could possible cause these varied delays?
Why does it do the "looking up" thing if the server can be seen in the
    network pane?
    Martin

That's consistent with a DNS error and DNS timeouts (or maybe network or routing errors), and the use of the .local mDNS Bonjour domain implies no DNS is configured, and Mac OS X Server expects to have DNS. Put another way, set up DNS services, and get out of the .local domain. [Here's an explanation of configuring DNS services|http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1436]
