Install indesign CS2 Problem

I have my Adobe Creative Suite CS6 installed in my Mac, and would like to install the free version indesign CS2 at the same time. However, error comes out while installation is happening. How could I have both version of Indesign being installed?

There is no free version of InDesign CS2. What was posted was a means by which existing CS2 license holders could reinstall and activate their software.
Unless you specifically licensed CS2 yourself many years back, you are not legally entitled to install or activate this software. Also note that CS2-era software was never designed or tested on today's hardware and/or software configurations.

  • Installing Indesign CS2 on WIN7 64-Bit

    Hello,
i tried to install InDesign CS2 Upgrade from the original CD-Rom on a new PC with WIN7 64-bit.
To activate the installation I used the serial number from the version 1.0 IGP100R7012137-635 from the original register card from InDesign 1.0.
This combination was used since any years on my old XP-PC and now I want to use it on the new system.
What happened: InDesign CS2 said during the installation process: this serial no. IGP100R7012137-635 is not an InDesing serial no.
I contacted Adobe via chat and they said, I need an InDesign CS2 version without need for activation, because Adobe killed the server for this function because of technical reasons.
My question: from where can I get these InDesign CS2 version without need for activation?
The serial number from my CS2 InDesign is: Deleted by moderator.
Who can help or knows an easier solution?
Thank you in advance for help!
    Renate.

NEVER post a serial number on a public forum and be aware that CS2 is totally unsupported on Windows 7 and will be even worse on a 64 bit system. Heed the warning on that page:
Adobe does not support CS2 applications, which were released more than seven years ago. Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software.

  • Cannot install Indesign CS2

I have Indesign CS2, and learned that I cannot install it from my CD's anymore, because the activation disk doesn't work anymore.
I tried to download the version that's available on adobe.com, I follow the guidelines, but something is not going right. It took 5 hours to download over 700 MB. And trying to open this huge file, there is no installing happening. My computer is Dell DM061, Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) 2CPU, 2GB RAM and running Windows Vista.
Is the problem with my pc, or is it anything else?

you should have a ~740mb file.  do you?
if so, right click > click 'run as administrator'.

  • Many unusual InDesign CS2 problems.

I am currently using InDesign CS2 (Mac OS X version 10.3.9) and am dealing with a variety of strange problems. A few months back random issues started occassionally and I figured they were flukes, but now the problems are continually growing and getting worse.
    Here we go...
My measurements stopped defaulting one day to inches and returns to picas every time the program is restarted and randomly throughout the day with different and/or new files I'm working with?!
My start-up dialog boxes and print dialog boxes that you can opt to not show started showing up again. I uncheck the box so they are to no longer show, but whenever the program is restarted, they show up again?!
Occassional crashes, but that may be normal?!
Fonts... it will randomly tell me that fonts are missing when a file is open, but they are installed and by restarting the program the font is no longer missing and I am able to work with the file properly. More recently, however, the problem did not fix and an installed font will not work in the program, but the same font is present and functioning in Illustrator.
Placed images sometimes print low-rez when they are hi-rez and, when viewing, look hi-rez. When exporting to a pdf, the images become low-rez as well. I can place the same images in Illustrator or view them in Photoshop and they print hi-rez as they should?!
I am experiencing a lot of problems to say the least. I don't know if my software has gotten corrupt somehow? I'm considering reinstalling. Has anyone experienced this and/or do you have any suggestions on fixing the issue?
    Thanks,
    Megan

    >My measurements stopped defaulting one day to inches and returns to picas every time the program is restarted and randomly throughout the day with different and/or new files I'm working with?!
Measurements are controlled on a per-document basis, so it will show the last thing used in that document. Your default units can be set by changing the Units prefs with no documents open.
    >Fonts... it will randomly tell me that fonts are missing when a file is open, but they are installed and by restarting the program the font is no longer missing and I am able to work with the file properly. Are you using third party font management software? That might be a cause of your issues with fonts. Also, if you can see the font correctly in Text Edit, but not certain Adobe apps, that is a good time to empty caches (see below) and possibly delete all AdobeFnt.lst files. (Search for files that begin with "adobefnt" and end with ".lst". Make sure not to throw away anything ends with .db!)
    >Placed images sometimes print low-rez when they are hi-rez and, when viewing, look hi-rez. When exporting to a pdf, the images become low-rez as well. I can place the same images in Illustrator or view them in Photoshop and they print hi-rez as they should?!
    Are all your links up-to-date?
Also, check your Graphics->Image settings in the Print dialog. Are they set to "Proxy" perhaps?
Additionally, for PDFs, what Export->Compression settings are you using?
If all else fails, do some general maintenance. Start out by resetting your preferences completely. Quit InDesign and relaunch with all the modifier keys mashed down (cmd-opt-control-shift). You should get a dialog asking if you want to reset the InDesign prefs.
If that doesn't work, try repairing permissions using Disk Utility.
If that doesn't work, try resetting all your caches using something like Onyx.

  • InDesign cs2 problem

I have cs2. Had to get a new computer so my CS2 discs won't install. Had to download from Adobe. Photoshop, Illustrator, working fine. But InDesign will not boot up. In fact it locks up the entire computer so that I have to force quite. Any suggestions?

The chances of getting it to work on anything later than XP are not good. I’m afraid you’re on your own.
CS2 is more than 10 years old. Time to upgrade or switch to different applications.

  • Install for CS2 problems

I have worked with CS2 for years (thus the oldest version known to man).  Major hard drive error recently, and had to reformat and reload everything.  Learned I could no longer activate from my old disks, and was directed to the website for the version that does not require activation.  Copies the three principle disks per the instructions, and attempted to reload.  It runs through disk one, and then asks for the insertion of disk two.  The PDF instructions direct to click "Okay" and double click on the disc 2 image.  That simply runs through an installation wizard, which takes about three seconds and then says its finished, but the installation does not continue.
I'm too dumb to figure this out.  Can someone smarter than me assist?
    Thank you.

    extract all three zip files.
move all the extracted files to the same directory.
    double cilck setup.

  • Trouble installing InDesign CS5.5 update.

I'm on Windows 7. I installed InDesign CS2. Then I bought the CS5.5 update. During the "Initializing Installer" phase, it throws off the the following message:
"Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."
    The support adviser tells me:
cpsid_83578r3: Error, "Validate license at Pre-chrome" when installing - Creative Suite 5
Click here for details and corrective actions related to this issue.
So I click the link, and a few steps later, I'm looking through something on my computer called the PDapp.log file. Here's what was in that file.
Of course, I have no idea what that means.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling CS2, but now when I try to run that version, I get the folling error:
"Adobe InDesign CS2 has stopped working."
    Yikes!
Does anyone have any information about this situation?
    Thanks for any help!
    Doug

    Thanks for the reply.
I tried the cleaner just now, but as you said, it won't work for CS2. There's no option inside the cleaner for that. I thought I'd give it a try for CS5.5, but it seems to only want to clean up stuff that's been installed, and I can't get my ID CS5.5 to install...

  • Why does InDesign CS2 on Windows 7 ask to Validate and Register on ech startup?

I have Just moved to a new computer with Windows 7 Ultimate.
After Installing InDesign CS2, the program requests Validation and Registration on each startup.
Sometimes a Dialog Box with a title DLL pops up dayin a program with an incorrect format was being attempted.
The program seems to work OK, althought I haven't tried every feature, so these may just be annoyances rather than real problems.
However, as asoftware developer for fifty-two years, I'm suspicious that there's more to it than that.
I downloaded and installed the 4.0.5 Update for Indesign CS2, but nothing seemed to change.

You would be surprised how much software was being developed in 1959!
Although there was less computer power in most corporate mainframe computers than you have in today's digital wristwatches, the fact is that quite a bit of scientific, mathematical, and engineering software was being developed typically in FORTRAN and commercial data processing was beginning to be developed in COBOL.
In 1959 it was still 9 years before I wrote my first software.

  • Lost Indesign CS2 fonts

Recently I had to have my hard drive cleaned due to a virus. When I re-installed Indesign CS2, many of the fonts that I formerly had are now gone. How can I get the lost fonts back? I am sure that the solution is simple, but since I am a beginner, be precise with any suggestions. I have Windows XP.

There is no known issue of incompatibility of Type 1 fonts with CS2 on Windows XP.
You say you "upgraded" your workstation to XP Pro. From what version of Windows did you "upgrade" from? Was that an in-place upgrade or did you totally reformat your system partition and do a "clean install" of Windows XP Pro? Only the latter is recommended, i.e., the "clean install!"
In general, Adobe strongly discourages "in-place" Windows upgrades, especially from Windows'9x to Windows 2000 or XP. The fact you refer to ATM 4.0 leads me to believe you attempted to do an in-place upgrade. Note that ATM 4.0 is
not compatible with Windows XP. That may be a major part of the problem. Furthermore, except for support of Multiple Master fonts, you don't need ATM on Windows XP. Finally, Adobe no longer markets or supports ATM Deluxe, although ATM Lite 4.1.1 is available for support of Multiple Master fonts.
Assuming you did an "in-place" Windows upgrade, our best advice would be to reinstall Windows XP from scratch along with font, applications, etc. on a newly formatted disk partition. That would eliminate many problems that you are likely to experience with an "upgraded" operating system beyond simply loss of support of full and proper operating system support for Type 1 fonts.

  • [CS2 Win] "A buffer overrun has been detected..." on startup of InDesign CS2 Debug

Installed InDesign CS2 Debug on a completely new machine but it failed to launch.
The message occurs while "Executing startup services..."
I get a "Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library" window with the message "A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue and must now be terminated".
My only other installations performed before this were Visual Studio NET 2003 and Adobe InDesign SDK.
I've seen two threads in the forum about this problem and wondered if anyone got the solution.
Especially since someone appears to have opened a support case about this issue.
    The archived threads are:
Buffer Overrun Error In InDesign Debug Version
"A buffer overrun has been detected..." CS2 debug
Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I've now uninstalled and re-installed Indesign, InCopy & the InDesign SDK several times trying to get around this.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    - Jackeen.

    Jackeen,
You probably have corrupted preferences on the "troublesome" user. Each user has his/her own ones - including "lost" files, etc. and they can become corrupted.
A couple days ago I was "fighting" a similarly strange problem - a crash on closing a document - only to have it disappear after the preferences were reset automatically at some point (as seen because palettes, etc. returned to their "default" place.

  • InDesign CS2 on Intel PowerMac?

Can you install InDesign CS2 on an Intel PowerMac running 10.4.11? My installer for CS2 is gray. I also have CS3 and CS4 already installed.

    I believe you can.
I have ID2, CS, CS2 and CS4 installed on an Intel Mac running 10.5.8, and had ID2, CS, and CS2 installed on 10.4.11 on an G4 Mac.
BUT, I believe you have to install them in order.
So, if it is worth the trouble, you would need to deactivate CS4 and CS3. Uninstall. Probably run the clean scripts. Then start reinstalling with CS2, then CS3, then CS4.
