This forum is for people needing help with writing their Java programs. You probably would get better help on a MyEclipse site.

  • Installing oracle10g on Fedora fails

    Hi,
I gave up trying to install oracle9i on Fedora. But when I
tried to install 10g on fedora today, I ran into the same
kind of errors as with 9i.
I have read puschitz and oracle-base as well as other docs
and I also pass the pre-requisites test of the OUI
I am now confused as to why everytime I get to the linking
stage, the following do not link:
    ins_precomp, ins_sql, ins_ldap, ins_rdbms, ins_nau, ETC...
(9i Note: The fixes in puschitz's page for ins_precomp and
ins_sql do not work for me nor do the fixes for
ins_oemagent and inv_ctx) and there is no mention
anywhere on the web for other errors like ins_rdbms, ldap,
    nau, and more..
What could be the problem? Can someone assist please?
    Thanks

I've successfuly installed oracle10g on Fedora core1 but before that I update all packages mentioned in
    http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10g.shtml to latest versions(using yup).

  • Install Ant on Fedora

    I downloaded apache-ant-1.6.0-42.src.rpm package. When i installed that package, i had two files ( apache-ant-1.6.0-42.src.tar.bz2 and apache-ant-1.6.0-42-optional.src.tar.bz2 ).
I didn't see bin folder. So I extracted apache-ant-1.6.0-42.src.tar.bz2 file, i had apache-ant-1.6.0 folder. I couldn't see bin folder and i don't know how to compile and install it.
If you know to install Ant on Fedora, please show me. Thanks.

  • NW04s Linux Trial : problem installing IBM JDK Fedora Core 6

    Hi,
I'm trying to install the NW04S Linux Preview on a Fedora Core 6 distribution and I'm encountering a problem with the IBM JDK 1.4.2 installation.
I've downloaded the RPM package from IBM (IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-7.0.x86_64.rpm
), installed it as root but when I try to invoke the virtual machine (java) or the compiler (javac), I got the following error :
libjvm.so preloadLibrary: /libj9vm22.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    libjvm.so failed to load: j9vm22
Has anyone tried to install the Linux Preview on Fedora and encountered the same problem. It might be connected to some sort of the linux dynamic linker/loader (ld.so) or versions of librairies.
I'm really lost here and I won't be able to start the installation without a working virtual machine.
    Thanks

I have double checked the link provided to the IBM JDK in the Linux Trial and it seems I had the wrong version. I've downloaded IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-7.0.x86_64.rpm (1.4.2-7) and the special version for SAP is the IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-2.0.x86_64.rpm (1.4.2-2).
I have installed it : rpm -ivh IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-2.0.x86_64.rpm
I have installed it and activated it as the default JVM using alternatives command :
    alternatives --install /usr/bin/java java /opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/bin/java 2
    alternatives --config java
    I now have a different error :
    [root@macpro ~]# java
    JVM not found: libjvm.so  - libjvm.so
What could have I done wrong ?
    Thanks for you help

  • Installing Apache on Fedora 2

During Apache installation on Fedora 2 from Oracle DB10g Companion CD I recieved message : Error in invoking target 'install' of makefile /u01/...../ins_sqlplus.mk.
In error log I have read:
    /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.3.3/libgcc_s.so: undefined reference to `dl_iterate_phdr@GLIBC_2.2.4'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    make: *** [sqlplus] Error 1
    How to solve this problem?

I am trying to Install 11.5.8 on FC2. adlnk806.sh which runs via adrunias.sh , is giving problems. glibc issue. do you have any idea how to get pass thur this phase. I successfully gone thru the RDBMS phase. I am trying single-node (2 user) vision install.
You might try with older versions like Rapidwiz 11.5.18. (2981384). This might be too old. Try one version below yours.
Another reason could be, your binutilitities which provies basic core executables like cc, ar, ld , and make. Actually, you need to find which glibc version that 11i(11.5.10) get supported with. Like 2.1.3, 2.2.X or 2.3.3. Once you know, get the rpm and install. It will be installed under /usr/i386(i686). Then make directory 'saved', under /usr/bin , then move cc, make, ld, ar to 'saved'. Now make a softlink to all those executables that saved under 'saved' to the same executables that you got along with glibc. YOu can verify them under /usr/i386. Names will not be exact, but something like i386-21libc-linux-ld. This way, the compiler or archiving or linker will get the executable from the recommened glibc versions.
    Hope this helps.

    Gopal

In Fedora , edit /etc/selinux/config and change the SELINUX line to SELINUX=disabled:

    # SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
    # enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.

  • Error install JDK6 on Fedora 6

    Hello
I am new to Linux, and I fail to install JDK 6 for the 64 bit version of Fedora. Executing anything with "java ..." results in errormessage java: error while loading shared libraries: libjli.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have searched the net for days finding a solution, but non can be applied to me. For instance, some talk about using the Linux command "alternatives ...", but I have no such command. Also, nothing in SUN's installation maual suggests anything like that. So, can anyone tell me why this happens, and how to solve it?

    Could you be more specific?
I can't find a valid answer working for the new jdk6.
For example, in this post: http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=110779 it is just claimed that it works. And that is not the case.

    Here is my situation.
I replaced jvm5 by jvm6 and my jboss start-up script does not work anymore.

  • Install issues on Fedora FC2

    Alrighty:
I've been searching for a complete solution for a day now and it is time to post.
Installing as a regular user ie. not root gives the following:
    [user@workstation /home/user]$ ./creator-2004q2-linux-ml.bin
    InstallShield Wizard
    Initializing InstallShield Wizard...
    Preparing Java(tm) Virtual Machine...
    Running InstallShield Wizard...
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
    Xlib: No protocol specified
The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with  the -console or -silent flag.Responses on other websites I've researched say 'Don't run X as root' and true, ps aux | grep X shows root running the X server. X has to run as root to access hardware related stuff, so I'm not sure this is good advice, as there was not a solution offered to change this.
Also, I noticed about 20 open streams via "netstat" called 'orbit-username'. Does JSC use CORBA and if so, why would these be here after a complete removal of all Creator/ and .Creator/ directories?
    Thanks y'all,
    Tim

    Solution:
I had tried using -silent at the install command line:
[user@workstation /home/user]$ ./creator-2004q2-linux-ml.bin -silent...as recommended by the error I was receiving listed above, but still without success.
Then I read deeper into the Installation FAQ regarding silent install at: http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/faqs/index.jsp#silent:
In short, you create a tiny config file with the same name as the installer only with an '.sp' extension with the minimum contents:
    installDir="/home/user/Creator"
serialNum="serialnumgoeshere"This worked nicely and in fact was not 'silent' per se as I still was shown the installer (strange) but it worked and I'm fully installed.
Fedora Core 2 (FC2) may do something differently with the X.org implementation of X11, or perhaps it is related to the new kernel.
