Install OATS in Unix

Hi all,
Currently, within the Oracle Application Testing Suite documentation there are installation instructions for windows machines only. Isn't it possible to install a weblogic server along with oracle 10g (or 11g) enterprise in a solaris or a linux machine and deploy oats.ear there? What configurations shall take place? Any database creation scripts available?

Actully PuTTY has nothing itself to do with x-11 forwarding. PuTTY gives the secure shell session. In that session, you indicate that x-windows is to be forwarded to some IP address and port, supposedly that of your desktop where you are running PuTTY (or SSH, or rsh, etc, etc). At that IP address, you will need an x-server running (Exceed is one, there are others) to receive and render the x output that was forwarded there.
4)     Anything else I need to know?

Error when installing OATS on Windows 7

Hello,
When trying to install OATS on my Windows 7, I encounter the following error:
INFO: Exception occured during spawning :Cannot run program "\bin\copyOUI.bat": CreateProcess error=2, cannot find the specified file.
I tried to add my installation to the windows environment variable PATH, it doesnt work neither.
Have anybody encountered the same problem?
PS: I'm using the version 9.2 which was made compatible for Windows 7.

You meed to add more swap space in your system.
Go to Start -> then right clink on My Computer and select Properties click on the Advanced tab then under Performance click on Settings then select the Advanced tab again and click change under Virtual Memory select Custom size and enter a minimum and maximum e.g 2046 and 4092 click on Set then OK
You will meed to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Once that is done you should be able to run the installer.

Issues in installing OATS

I have installed oats earlier then did a un-installation of oats, which i think didnt worked property. And now when i try to install oats again , th eproces sis halted for more than 2 hrs while "spawning ....\oats.ear".
and log file says -

Hello
Please note that uninstall OATS doesn't remove the Oracle XE.
Depending on your use case, we recommand to use an Oracle EE as a DB.
Then before installing OATS please make either to have successfully completely uninstall OATS (see the clean uninstall procedure below), or to make sure to connect correctly to the database.

How to Fresh Install ATS 920
You can install ATS products with the Oracle Universal Install setup program. The installation is usually a painless straightforward process, but in some cases you may want to “Clean/Fresh” install the product.
This may be required when:
You have a previous beta version of the ATS product
You want to downgrade the product from the newer version
The installation has failed for some reason and you want to clean the environment to fresh start.
Please make sure to backup all scripts and databases before proceeding!
This page guides you through the process step-by-step to clean install ATS on your system.
Step1: Deinstall ATS products
Setup.bat to launch "Oracle Universal Installer"
Click "Deinstall Products". Inventory Window opens.
Expand the tree Oracle Homes -> Check "OATS" checkbox. Click Remove.
Remove window opens and start uninstallation. Wait for the dialog to automatically dismiss itself.
After the successful uninstalltion, you will see "There are no installed products" in the Inventory window.
Click "Close" to close the Inventory Window.
Click "Cancel" to close the Oracle Universal Installer
Step2: Uninstall Oracle XE database
Control Panel -> Program and Features. Find and select Oracle Database 10g Express Edition
Click "Uninstall/Change" button from the tool bar, or dbl click the item to lauch the installsheild wizard.
Click "Yes" on the pop up dialog. Wait for the unistallation to complete.
Upon successful uninstalltion, window shows "Uninstall Complete" in the screen.
Click "Finish" to close the install shield wizard
Step3: Remove/Rename the following folders.
Backup the script directory
Remove/Rename ATS install directory (e.g. C:\OracleATS).
Remove/Rename the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\username\osworkspace
(depends on your Operating System, it may look like: C:\Users\username\osworkspace)
Remove/Rename the directory: C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory
( depends on your Operating System, it may look like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\Inventory)
C:\Windows\rsw.ini
Step4: Remove the Services (Optional)
Start -> Run. Enter "cmd" Type the command: sc delete servicename
eloadAgentMon
Oracle Application Testing Suite Application Service
If you see a msg "The specified services does not exist as an installed services" returned from the program, the service has successfully removed by the previous steps.
Step5: Remove the Registry Keys (Optional)
Start -> Run. Enter "regedit" to launch Registry Editor. Remove the keys below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Oracle Application Testing Suite Application Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle\Oracle Application Testing Suite and Oracle Test Management
If you do not find the keys they are successfully removed by the previous steps. Note: The keys may be found in the different location depends on your Operating Systems. (search by the key to find the correct location)
Step6: Restart your System (Optional)
Not required, but always a better practice
Step7: Install ATS
1. Make sure the install user has administrator privilege on the system.
2. Double click the setup.bat to start the Oracle Universal Installer.
Important: Windows Vista, 2008 or Win7 users, select"Run as Administrator" from the right mouse click menu. This is required process for the OS that has UAC enabled.
3. Continue to install the latest version of ATS

Error Installing 8i in UNIX Open Server 5.0.5

Dear Friends,
When I installing Oralce8i in Unix open Server 5.0.5 box,I am getting this error.
relocation error: symbol not found:real path.
I copied the entire oracle 8i disk to location /orasoft and from there I am running the ./runInstaller
Installtion starts with the message
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from ../stage.Components/oracle.swd.jre.1.1.7/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/unixware/bin/../bin/i386/green_threads/jre:relocation error:symbol not found: real path

That means 8i was never certified on Win 2000. That means there's no guarantee that you can install it, or that it will work after installed.
But if you are determined to go down this totally uncertified, unsupported path, my only suggestion is to go back and read ... and heed ... all the points in the fine installation guide. Particularly the part about installing the loopback. Don't assume "I don't need that". Just do what the install guide says.

I found out there is an alternative to Fink which is DarwinPorts or MacPorts. It seems they have ported the FreeBSD packages to OS X and therefore their package repository is more complete comparing to Fink, right?

Does OATS support firefox 4 & manually install OATS plugin of web browser

I need to test automation on firefox4, but I couldn't find the OATS plugin on firefox 4 after I installed OATS.Does it support firefox4?
BTW, is there any way to install OATS plugin of web browser manually, so far, I need to uninstall and reinstall OATS to have the plugin installed on different versions of web browser, e.g. IE7/8/9 firefos3/4.

In the OpenScript folder, c:\OracleATS\OpenScript by default, there is an InstallBrowserHelpers.bat that tries to install the browser add-ons. I haven't tried it with Firefox 4, maybe just give it a shot?

Can we install OATS 12.2.0.1.288 in QTP & LR machine?

I have machine in which HP Quick Test Professional (QTP 11) and HP LoadRunner 9.1 are installed.
Now is it possible for me to install OATS 12.2.0.1.288 (full version) in the same machine or do I need to do any changes so that all three software must work without any issues. Am afraid if OATS/QTP/LR tool may conflict.
Note:_ All three software are important and if by installing OATS, issue occurs with QTP and LR then I don't want to take risk of installing OATS in this machine.
Any help in this regard is appreciated.

all the OATS QTP and LR will not work if they are installed on machine.
their will be java conflict so OATS will be installed successfully but OATS will not allow you to record.
this is my experience when installed all the three on same machine.

I have installed OATS and I want to automate my testing for functionality testing, I opened Open Script and when I tried to record the session,It is unable to open the browser and stopped testing.It is neither showing any error nor recording the screen. The OATS release notes gives system requirements and says you can check C:\Program Files\Oracle\inventory\logs\installActions-xxxx.log to view if the installation was successful. If the logs show a successful installation, then open a browser and go to Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage Add-ons. Verify that the two following add-ons exist and are enabled: Openscript BHO and Oracle.OATS.OpenScript.IEToolBar.OpenScriptToolBar. If they don't exist, then Openscript didn't successfully install. If they didn't install, someone with admin privileges can try to uninstall and reinstall the add-ons only using the instructions from Openscript Users Guide C-1. If the add-ons are enabled, you can go to the Openscript help menu and run the Diagnosis Tool to view error messages. Finally, verify the Oracle Application Testing Suite Agent Service and Oracle Application Testing Suite Helper Service are enabled and have a started status.

Installing a generic unix webclient on my MacBook Pro

I have a small question. I'm trying to install a webclient on my new Intel based MacBook Pro 2.16 Ghz under X11. When I use :source setupunix_3.0.74.bin.sh
the script starts, but at a certain point it says :
This application requires a Java Run Time Environment (JRE)
to run. Searching for one on your computer was not successful.
Please use the command line switch -is:javahome to specify
a valid JRE. For more help use the option -is:help.
Then when I give the instruction: Java -version : it shows
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-112)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-64, mixed mode, sharing)
Am I doing something wrong, is JRE not running or is the generic script not valid for my Mac?
Maybe I can send an email with the script attached to it to an Unix Guru?

Installing linux and unix on my macbook pro without using vmware

I was browsing through the forum and bumped into a topic where the best advice for installing linux application is the following:

However, I have not tested this out therefore I am pretty reluctant to put this on my laptop which is currently running MAC OS X 10.5.8. (4gb ram). If anyone have done this please let me know.
1) My question: Is this a reliable method to run linux applications on MAC OS natively using the x11 from Apple?
Note: I have vmware and I personally don't prefer booting a separate OS on my computer just to use one or two apps. However if that is the only solution I already have ubuntu running on my vmware. Also I wanted to completely wipe off my vmware and the ISO images (ubuntu and win xp) to free up the space in my hard drive. If I have to use ubuntu which may be a "safer solution" than run linux applications on my hard drive then I will stick to the vmware method.
If someone could give me some insight in this topic then I would greatly appreciated their help.
p.s. I want to install xilinx web-pack and other useful softwares that are only available in linux, ubuntu and win xp/vista/w7. My goal is to completely transform my laptop from dual booting ubuntu and win xp to just run mac snow leopard (in the near future).

Basically I want to run linux and unix applications without running vmware on my mac os x. I heard there is a way to use x11 and FinkCommander (http://finkcommander.sourceforge.net/) application. However, I am unable to figure out how to install programs such as xilinx ise (http://www.xilinx.com/ise/logicdesignprod/foundation.htm) on my MacBook Pro using FinkCommander. In addition, xilinx ise runs on linux and windows however not mac.
In simple words I want to solely use Leapord (not snow leapord) to run applications such xilinx ise (which is only available on windows platform or linux).
I recently shifted from windows xp platform to mac and I rarely use vmware after making the shift. Therefore, I am trying to find a solution where I don't require vmware at all, my plan is to remove vmware from my hard drive.
I just restated what I stated in the previous post in a simpler manner, sorry for any miscommunication on the earlier post. I am looking for a step by guide to install linux applications on my mac. I am at a process of learn linux at the moment so I am kind of slow when it comes to linux and mac. Especially when it comes to installing using command line not GUI.
I just want to know if there is a solution out there for running linux based applications to run on my mac.

Install Oracle in UNIX

I am kind of new to Oracle db in SunOS system. The db server is SunOS 5.10 and I am giving access to this server through PuTTY. Recently I need to install newer version of OEM agent to the server but have hard time to get Xwin work. I have installed X-Win32 5.4 in my PC and tried to configure but can’t make it work. I would like to know how you installed your Oracle software in the UNIX env if you don’t have direct access to the server console? BTW, my db version is 10.2.0.4.

Can you please check and print the contents of your /etc/hosts file here?
It should have an entry like,
[(Your_IP_Address) (Host_Name) (Alias)]
For eg.,
127.0.0.1 MyPC localhost

Installing DataDirect on Unix to connect to an excel file on windows

I am trying to incorporate an Excel data source while our OBIEE server is UNIX. I downloaded and setup the DataDirect drivers for Windows and Unix. I have installed and configured everything, but am not sure if I need to soft link any files to replace the existing odbc drivers with OBIEE I get the error below when trying to access the data source from answers
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 16023] The ODBC function has returned an error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down. (HY000)

I am afraid that what you want to do is not supported. Check the data sources on the System Requirements and Supported Platforms document:
