  • Problems with Oracle Express 10.2 on Fedora core 6

Can someone please help with the installation of Oracle XE 10.2
    on Fedora Core 6.
I'm taking a database paper at university and we are using Oracle.
I'd like to get Oracle going on my home machine so I can do the assignments at home.
I have followed this installation procedure http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25144/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
and the rpm seems to install without error and the configure script seems to go ok.
    I get the following messages...
    Starting Oracle Net Listener...Done
    Configuring Database...Done
Starting Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Instance...Done
    Installation Completed Successfully.
To access the Database Home Page go to "http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex"
But when I try to go to the Database Home Page I get an Unable To Connect error from Firefox.
    Thanks
    Jamie

opmn is the Oracle Process Manager for the Application Server, which is included only on the companion disk of the SE and EE editions, not on the XE edition.
Verify the browser settings, and verify listener is up and running.
    lsnrctl status
you should see the 8080 and 2100 ports listed, which stands for the http server and ftp server.
You should see also the XE instance listed in the instances list.
Verify if there are any outstanding errors on the alertXE.log file. It has been reported that missing temporary files are the reason why it doesn't show the login page.
Also, verify the XE instance is up and running, just enter in a sql prompt from the OS and verify with the command
    show sga
    and
    select status from v$instance;

  • How I can do when I install Oracle 8.1.7.0 & Oracle9i core for Windows 2000?

I downloaded Oracle8.1.7 standard Edition and Oracle9iAS Core for Windows NT.
I installed them on Windows 2000 Server. I checked that Oracle HTTP server was working.
But how can I get more information from Internet about Oracle Application Server?
I want to query database through the web. Give me a simple example about it.
    Best regards,
    Richard Xu

Oracle 9iAS Documentation can be found at,
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/content.html
You can access few samples of web query in
Oracle JSP demos, from your iAS Apache main page. There are XML, JDBC and SQLJ samples.

  • Oracle 9i (amd64 version) with Fedore Core 2 (FC2) x86_64

I just managed to get the above to install, and it seems to work. This post is here to tell what I had to do to get it to install. I installed it custimized to not include Enterprise options, Enterprise Manager and HTTP server. I also chose not to create a database with the install (did it later with dbca with no problems).
First of all, if you have a partial installation, make sure to remove it completely. This can always cause lots of problems.
There are two workarounds beyond the normal installation tasks. The first is to run:
    export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 before runInstaller
Then proceed with the installation. When (if?) it fails, (it failed for me at 97%) it will be because of a link failure.
At this point, open another window and edit the $ORACLE_HOME/lib32/sysliblist and $ORACLE_HOME/lib32/ldflags and add the string '-static-libgcc' to the end of both lists.
The error you would find in the make.log if you chose to look would be: undefined reference to
`dl_iterate_phdr@GLIBC_2.2.4' or something close to it.
This system is a dual Athlon 64 running FC2 x64-64 bit release.
    That's it.
    Good luck.

The {font:Courier}gcc32{font} is a compiler version, not an architecture specification, so you need that version to compile and link properly. If you do this:
$ /bin/rpm -q --qf='%{NAME}-%{VERSION}.%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\n' gccyou can see if you have a 64-bit capable compiler ({font:Courier}x86_64{font}) or 32-bit only (anything else).
The linking step will complain and fail if you try to mix 32-bit and 64-bit object files and libraries, so that probably worked well enough.
Of course, Oracle RDBMS is not supported under CENTOS so using this work business purposes is totally your risk.
Why not download Oracle Enterprise Linux and have everything just work?

But Oracle VM Server does not detect onboard Network card.Your NIC needs to be supported by Oracle Linux 5 Update 3 to work with Oracle VM Server 2.2. If it's too new, then it will not be seen. Also, please start a new topic for each question. This new question is not relevant to the original topic.

I have this same exact problem.  I'd rather not disable USB 2.0, because I use it to transfer files to my MP3 player when in Windows.
I find it hard to "blame the BIOS" when it was working fine under kernel 2.6.7.  Anyone know of another solution?
EDIT: Well it isn't the same "exact" problem.  When I first boot into Arch, the usb mouse and keyboard don't work.  I press and hold the power button on the machine to restart.  The second time I boot into Arch, the usb devices do work.  If I do a standard soft reboot and go back into Arch, the usb devices again don't work.  I guess this is a hotplugging issue, but enabling it in rc.conf does nothing.  The only permanent solution I can find is disabling USB 2.0 in the BIOS.

  • Installing Oracle Linux on Fedora Core (formerly Red Hat)

    Hello,
I am very new to Linux having been a recent Windows convert and wanted to find out whether I can talk to someone about installing Oracle on a Fedora Core system. I find the current documentation to be quite daunting for a newbie like me. I am not new to Oracle per se but I am new to installing it on a different operating system. It's also easier for me to chat about my issues than to do a long-winded e-mail. If there is a "guru" in this area that can contact me, I can be reached at 305-491-0417 (cell) or e-mail me at [email protected]
    Much appreciated and Thanks,

  • JRE not found, while installing Oracle 9i on Fedora Core 5

I am installing Oracle 9i on Fedora Core 5 from the following site.
    http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora9_fedora.html
The site asks me to Download the Java Runtime Enviroment (j2re-1_3_1_15-linux-i586.bin) from the Sun website.
extract the file and put it in /opt directory. And edit Disk1/install/linux/oraparam.ini and modify JRE_LOCATION variable to /opt/jre1.3.xx
I have downloaded JRE version jre1.3.1_19 as this is the version available from the sun site, and put it in the /opt directory.
    [oracle@localhost Disk1]$ cd /opt
    [oracle@localhost opt]$ ls -l
    total 24
    drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Aug 19 2006 jre1.3.1_19
    My oraparam.ini settings are:
    [oracle@localhost ~]$ cat Disk1/install/linux/oraparam.ini
    [Oracle]
    JRE_LOCATION=/opt/jre1.3.1_19
However, after doing these changes when I use /home/oracle/Disk1/runInstaller, i get the following error:
    [oracle@localhost Disk1]$ pwd
    /home/oracle/Disk1
    [oracle@localhost Disk1]$ ./runInstaller
[oracle@localhost Disk1]$ The Java RunTime Environment was not found at /tmp/OraInstall2008-04-29_07-09-15AM/jre/bin/java. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run.
Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.3.1 or higher and try again.
