Install Software Projects

Hi,
I'm running Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1) Express Edition for Linux x86 on my openSUSE 10.3 machine. I'm trying to import the Oracle APEX example "Software Projects" and i get an error. The error message is:
NOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your application version.)
What can i do to bypass this error. Is it possible to import the sql file through "SQL Developer"?

We are running Oracle 11g and Apex 3.1.2 and are getting the following error message trying to install "Software Projects."
"The following prerequisite checks failed. Installation of this application's supporting objects cannot continue until these issues are resolved.
To continue installation after addressing the errors, navigate to the Supporting Object Definitions of this application and click INSTALL in the Supporting Objects Installation section.
Alternatively, you can deinstall the application definition and reinstall after resolving these issues.
Required Privileges: CRATE PROCEDURE, CRATE TABLE, CREATE TRIGGER.
Even when my DBA who has 777 access tried to run it he got the same error. And can not get the installer to work. How do we make this run? Or does it?
I should say that for security reasons that the Oracle DB and Apex are NOT on the same box.

Size error with the "Software Projects" example

Hi All,
I have tried to download some examples from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html - eg. "Software Projects" applications.
The file "sw_projects_0.93.zip" was downloaded but when I have tried to run the initial script "sw_projects_installer_0.93.sql" there is the following error displayed:
"The script exceeds the maximum size allowed."
The script has 2222 kB and it looks it is not possible to install. Does anyone have a solution?

Have your APEX administrator increase the size of the "SQL Scripts Maximum Script Size in bytes" setting in the APEX instance, they can do this by logging into the Instance as an Administrator and navigating to -
Home -> Manage Service -> Feature Configuration

Software projects application v0.93

When I try to import software projects application v0.93 I get errors.
I am installing it into an 11gR2 version of the database by
Import and install the sw_projects_installer_0.93.sql
ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-20001: The procedure remove_flow was called without a value for p_id -- a application ID must be provided. <pre>begin -- Remove Application wwv_flow_api.remove_flow(); end; </pre>

Looks like I spoke too early...
I resolved this by importing through the application builder import function. Earlier, I was importing the .sql file directly through SQLPLUS. I guess the install instructions in the readme file for this sample confused me. When I looked at the readme file for another application, I learned that it can be imported through the application builder import functionality as well.

Office 365 error 259-4 when installing newer Project on top of older ProPlus

I am encountering a problem in the following circumstances:
- I install Office 365 ProPlus using version 15.0.4649.1003
- Then I try to install Project from Office 365, but using the newer version 15.0.4659.1001
The setup fails with error 259-4

When following the activity using Procmon I don't see any error for the HKLM key said in the log.
Usually when installing again Project, it works and corrects all ProPlus..
But this is very annoying as I would like to deploy ProPlus and Project independently using a deployment tool like SCCM.
In this case, I was testing a machine where ProPlus was installed in an older version, never updated for any reason, and then my tool trying to install Project but in the newer version....

After installing Project again, what's the version number of your Office 365 ProPlus? Also, try to repair existing Office 365 ProPlus and then install Project again, see if issue persists.
What if you update your Office 365 ProPlus to the same version as your Project build first, then deploy Project upon it?
Trying to figure out if the issue was caused due to the version mismatch.

Whenever i try installing software, it ask me to choose an application, what am i suposse to do after that?

When you double-click on the .dmg file, is that when it asks you to choose an application?
If that is the case, then choose DiskImageMounter, if that is available.
Otherwise choose DiskUtility. In the DiskUtility program click once on the program file name in the left-hand panel, and then click on the Open button. This should mount the .dmg file with a disk icon on your desktop.
If this procedure works, I'd recommend downloading and installing a system maintenance utility like Yasu, and run it with all the options checked, except perhaps clearing your bookmarks. This will fix permissions and prebinding, and clear your caches.

Install software on a different hard drive

I have multiple external drives. How can I set them up so I can install applications on them? Every time I install software it loads on the built in hard drive.

Besides everything Steve359 had to say, it is usually the media that the application works with that takes up the large amount of disk space. So what I do is keep my applications on the system disk in the Applications folder and the have a secondary drive that I call Projects where I keep my media files.

IDE for C++ Software Projects

All the new product names and lines are getting me confused.
What is the best IDE SUN provides for developing C++ software projects?
The SUN-One Enterprise is Java oriented and seems to offer less functionality for C++ than Workshop-6 (doesn't read workshop 6 C++ projects, doesn't provide source browsing...).

however I'm facing problems installing kdevelop on my Linux mandrake system...
I downloaded the kdevelop 3.0.3 tar.bz2 file and tried to install it in my Linux Mandrake system..what i did is the following:
extract all files.
cd to kdevelop Directory
./configure --prefix= (my kdevelop dir)
It seems that this command is ok except for one problem in checking : The QT must be compiled with thread.
But when i type: make
i have a message saying : No rule to make target.
It seems there is no Makefile
I tried: make -f Makefile.am
i got a message: kdevelop has been Installed.
But actually I don't have kdevelop in my KDE Menu.
and don't know how to start it (if it is really already Installed)..
Please i need some help to compile and Install kdevelop.

Without proper system information and other details like what files you work with nobody can tell you much. From corrupted prefs to issues with your PS swap file to actual problems with the fiel storage this could be anything.

Eclipse loses installed software after update. How to manage?

Whenever eclipse gets updated with `pacman -Syu` I lose all my installed software. As you can imagine, this is really annoying because when I start eclipse there are zombie buttons in the UI that no longer do anything because those plugins aren't installed anymore (at least not from eclipse's point of view). I'm assuming those buttons appear in the UI due to some eclipse-auto-generated configs that remain in my workspace. Is there a way to upgrade and *not* lose installed software? (I'm talking about software installed using update sites within eclipse)
EDIT: The only way that I know how to solve the problem is to remove the .metadata folder from my workspace then recreate my perspective layout from scratch, redo all my settings in preferences, and reinstall all the plugins I want. That's obviously not something I want to keep doing every time eclipse gets updated.
EDIT: After reinstalling Spring MVC plugins eclipse crashes after startup. I tried downgrading to the previous version of eclipse from pacman's cache, reinstalled Spring MVC, and now it's still crashing.

HP C1680 fails to install Software

Can you please help
I have just reinstalled my operating system Windows 7 6- bit OS and needed to reinstall my printer HP Photosmart C6180 All in One. When I first got my new PC( Dell XPS 501L windows 7 Intel core i5. 243M 2.40GHz) I originally install the whole package with no issues.
after the reinstall of the OS, this is issue I was I getting when I tried to reinstalled the HP application (AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe )
Error message:-
C:\Users\andylouey\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS4864\setup\HPzPNP.ice.
I have done the following:
Tried to install from an old download of the software. Result Failed to install message as above.
Tried the original install CD and also tried to use them in various compatibility modes. Result Failed.
Downloaded the critical updates from HP solved the above error message result the above error message was solved.
Downloaded the latest install software program for my HP printer from the HP website tried again to install failed
Ran the HP Scan doctor reported that the printer drivers are all working asked it to run the scan program it reported that it need the full install of the C1680 software to run this
I got the download again ran it. It extracts the file then just disappears and looking at the task manager there is not install running. So again failed
For the second time I downloaded the HP installer network printer wizard but this failed and just keeps going round in circles> It finishes the download gets to the extracting point and then goes back to the identify printer( which is listed) then goes back once again and downloads the install software.
Other steps I have taken. I used the old installation disk to do a complete uninstall of all the drivers and software using Utilities> CCC> Uninstall_ L2.bat . This wored and uninstalled the printer and drivers and I think any remaining software. I also deleted all the %TEMP% files that my Laptop would allow.
Then once again I I used the install wizard first without the USB cable disconnected then the wizard asked me to plug it in. I plugged it in and HP Wizard found the printer and downloaded the appropriate software completed the download and extracted it and then NOTHING.
I have also downloaded the critical update:-

I can print to the printer both wirelessly and via the USB port. But the Solution center will not install just keeps looping. ie idenifies the printer downloads the latest sofware and extracts it then just dissapears of the screen. Nothing comes up and there are no HP programs running in the applications task manager and no processes either.

Drivers from various HP pre-installed software

I Have an HP ENVY 6 1040EW Ultrabook.
Because I had issues with my windows system I had to reïnstall windows with disks because a manual factory reset was not possible because of dammaged drivers.
There where no disks for this particular laptop so i had to use normal windows 7 recovery disks.
My problem:
I recovered Windows 7 with my recovery disks and ofcourse my old pre-installed software was not on my PC.
But I really liked HP coolsense, Beats Audio, HP connection manager and the HP service software to store safely my usernames and passwords. But I can't find the software on the HP website.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the HP service software you are referring to.

Error 16389 running a Task Sequence to install software

We've run into multiple WinXPProSP3 computers generating error code 16389 when trying to run a TS. After searching on Google, we found this,

, which led to another article to modify a RegKey, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} , to add a key of UpperFilters, with a value of PartMgr. The key WAS missing on the machines with
the error, and, adding that key and value DOES fix the problem. This key and value seem to be default for the OS.
However, searching Google for that RegKey has a LOT of suggestions to delete that key and value, due to issues with USB Thumbdrives and iPods not being seen when plugged in--so, it seems that there may be a conflict.
Does anyone know of a fix for Error 16389 without having to add that key, if it's going to cause other problems?

Will you please past the detailed errors in the smsts.log?
From your description your are using TS to install software right?
If so you should first make sure this software package meats the following requirement when it was deployed through TS:
this program can be installed under local system account.
this program can be installed without any user interaction (such as: press next button).
this program will not force computer reboot, it allows sccm ts to manage the reboot.
If your OSD TS return 16389 exit code, you can try to change the volume license keys. Because once i have seem this error and it was solved by changing the volume license key.
