Install Windows 7 in Satellite C855-2KN

Hello
I have a toshiba laptop C855-2kn with Windows 8 but I like putting on Windows 7.
Is there a manual to do?
A greeting

Hi
At first I must say that it is very good that you have started this thread before you have done anything. I have checked Toshiba download page and your notebook is supported for Win7 64bit. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities are there.
Before you do anything please create recovery media (DVD or USB) using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. Later if you want to have Win8 again (factory settings) you can use created recovery media and install recovery image. This is very important.
After Win7 installation start to install important drivers at first. Start with chipset driver, rapid storage driver, display driver, sound driver, WLAN driver, card reader driver.
Later start with Toshiba specific tools and utilities.
If you have more questions you are welcome.

  • How to install Windows 8 on Satellite C855-21W - No disk

    Hello,
Recently the HDD from my SATELLITE C855-21W crashed. All Data wear lost.
    Serial: YC273011R
Now i would like to reinstall Windows 8.
But i have no CD /DVD and all partitions on the HDD are gone.
How can i reinstall Win 8 on the Laptop again?
Where can i get a DVD?
    Thanks

    Hi
This is pity but HDD can always start to malfunction and therefore its advisable to create a Recovery Disk before starting to use the notebook.
However, now you cannot create such recovery disk because the files are lost.
    Now you have two options:
    1) You can install the Windows 8 using Microsoft Win 8 disk (you will need to purchase Win 8 if you dont have it). The essential Toshiba drivers could be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page
    2) The second option is much easier: you could order the Toshiba Recovery disk from this page http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx and could set the notebook back to the factory settings.

  • How to install Windows XP in Satellite Pro L300-1A9?

    Hi!,
first of all, sorry if I'm asking something really obvious, but I'm quite new with this issues...also sorry for my English, I'm not native.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 1A9 with Windows Vista preinstalled but the thing is I prefer Windows XP. I have tried to install it but it won't work.
I have read lots of posts and comments about this issue in this forum and also in the web. The problem is I don't know if the procedure and the drivers to download are the same for all the L300 models. Mine is L300 1A9.
Anyone could give me some extra simply instructions (I'm a beginner) about how to do solve this problem or any link relating this issue? I have seen many of them, but none about this model L300 1A9.
    Thank you very much!!

    Hi Lars_3,
thank you very much for your reply and interest.
When I say that installing Windows XP doesn't work, I mean that my laptop has Windows Vista but I have tried to reinitialized (format) it to install Windows XP, but when I run the Windows XP (original) disk an error message pops up and I can't continue the installation.
I have had a look to the Toshiba's downloads link you posted, but there's no mention to the L series model. The options available are for M-Series and Net-Book series, so I wonder if it is possible to use one of them for my Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 1A9?
Thank you very much for your kind help!

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 on Satellite Pro 6100

Is it possible to install windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite pro 6100 machine? I 'm currently using windows XP.
    thanks.

    Hi buddy,
Do you really think about Windows 7 installation on many years old Satellite Pro 6100???
In my opinion this will not work because its too old and not fast enough. Newest OS that is supported from Toshiba is Windows XP and this should be the best choice for this oldie.
So just be satisfied with Windows XP, its a good choice for older computers! :)

  • Cannot install Windows 8 on Satellite L750 - CPU compatibility issue

Why can I not install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my Toshiba Satellite L750-22x?
I get a processor compatibility error.
    Intel i3 M380 2.53GHz

    Hi
The internet provides some details about this error message.
It seem that in order to install the Win 8 CP the CPU should support PAE/NX/SSE2 features
Never-eXecute Bit ( [NX bit|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit] ) allows marking of memory pages as non-executable.
Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) is a previous standard that is supported by Intel and AMD CPU. Therefore all CPUs that support NX would also support SSE2 too.
Usually enabling the XD (for Intel CPUs) or NX (for AMD CPUs) in BIOS should disable this error message.
But if this is not available in BIOS then either the CPU does not supports this feature or the BIOS does not support this option.
According to Intel Ark page the Intel Core i3-380M supports Execute Disable Bit. So possibly the BIOS does not support this feature
    http://ark.intel.com/products/50178/Intel-Core-i3-380M-Processor-
It seems you need to wait for new BIOS

    Hello
Your posting is pretty confusing and it is not easy to understand you.
I dont understand which setup file you want to use but you cannot install operating system with click on some setup file.
You can install Windows 7 using Toshiba recovery image (if you got one) or using original Microsoft Windows 7 installation disc.
So please be nice and explain to me which disc do you have and how do you try to install Windows 7.

  • Can't install windows 7 on Satellite C75D-B7260

Can't install windows 7 pro on Satellite C75D-B7260  I have tried a clean install and have tried through windows 8 pro.  Win 7 won't get past start screen.  I have secure boot turned off in BIOS and there is no CMS or legacy setting.  System bios version is 1.20 and ec version is 1.10  Toshiba service station does not find an update for the BIOS. and only 1.10 is listed on the product page.  I found a 1.30(
    BIOS version 1.30 for Satellite C7x-B/L7x-B/S7x-B (PSCL4x/PSKRLx/PSPP2x/PSPP4x/PSCNUx
I have not tried to use this update as my specific part # is not listed in the install notes.

    Satellite C75D-B7260
    Downloads here.
You can install Windows 7 if you like. But I doubt you'll ever locate enough of the drivers and utilities to make that laptop work as designed. Toshiba certainly did not create them.
If you have no end of time to burn hunting for those and don't mind some features missing, here's how to install Windows 7.  The disk now uses GPT partitioning, but you want the old MBR partitions. So use the installation package to remove all the existing partitions and create new ones (one is sufficient).

  • Can't install windows XP on Satellite Pro A200-1N2

    hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200-1N2 PSAE3E and I don't want Vista on my laptop. i downgraded the bios to V5.30 But still can't install windows xp and from the bios still there is no optin for SATA.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Did you install the SATA drivers firstly?
You need this driver to recognize the HDD!
You should download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. You should find it either on the Toshiba driver page or on the Intel website.
You must perform the installation from an external USB FDD drive using the F6 button while the Win XP setup.

  • Installing Windows XP on Satellite L40-114

I just bought a Satellite L40-114 for home and education. I just found out I need windows XP for some scientific applications and the VPN software for access, so I tried to install it. I was really disappointed Toshiba does not seem to deliver XP drivers for this laptop. I managed to get the sound working for what its worth (sound skipping) but hotkeys and video drivers is not working at all.
Anyone who had more luck installing Windows XP on this laptop?

    Hi there,
I cannot help you regarding the hotkeys but in case of videodrivers you should visit www.intel.com for video drivers since your machine has an intel 900GMA video chipset.
Just go to the Intel website and download drivers for that chipset, it should work.
Would appreciate some feedback on your success.

  • Re: How can I Install Windows Xp in Satellite A200 1M7 PSAE3E?

    Hi,
I am having a Toshiba Laptop Satellite A200 1m7 PSAE3E, while I am trying to Install windows XP on the laptop, its showing no hard disk installed. Can I get the *Raid* for the laptop? so that I can customize windows XP and detect the hard disk to Install it.
    Thanks in Advance.

    > while I am trying to Install windows XP on the laptop, its showing no hard disk installed
You have to install the SATA drivers!
The notebook supports the SATA controller and the drivers are not a part of the Windows OS!
The SATA drivers are in the Intel Storage Manager!!
Read some threads here regarding this theme to get more details!! There are a lot of threads!
    > Can I get the Raid for the laptop?
No because the notebook does not support RAID controller.

  • Installing Windows XP on Satellite A10 without CD/DVD drive

I want to reinstall windows xp on a Toshiba A10 and the CD Rom is dead ...
I've tryed to reinstall it from a bootable usb stick but i can't make it to boot from it.
I was thinking about that LAN boot thing.
Can I install windows from a lan pc and if a i can, can someone explain how or give me a tutorial or something?
How can i install windows from the usb stick?
Please help me i really need this to work.

    Hi
It seems that the BIOS does not support booting from the USB flash drive.
The booting from LAN is possible but if you want to boot from LAN then you will need an RIS Server.
Here is a Microsoft Step-by-Step Guide to Remote OS Installation
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb742378.aspx
But to be honest I would recommend other method.
If you want to install the Win XP on the HDD then you should copy the i386 folder from the Win XP CD to HDD (you can remove the HDD from notebook and could connect it to other computer using USB controller).
Then you should go to i386 folder which you copied to HDD and should execute the setup.exe or winnt.exe
Both exe file should start the installation setup.

  • How can i install Windows XP on Satellite L40-17R?

I was trying to install windows XP on my new L40-17R.
I get a msg says that i dont have a HDD.
I enter the BOIS so i can find a setting for SATA HDD to disable it like i do in my old ASUS.
But i didn't find anything related for the HDD in the BIOS.
So any body plz can help me how can i do to instal windows XP?
    I will be thankfull

You dont need to disable anything in the BIOS. Just simply install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager and the OS will recognize the HDD.
Either you will install the SATA driver (storage manager) from the external USB floppy drive or you will use the software nLite to build an own XP CD and to include the SATA driver into the new XP.

  • Need instruction how to install Windows XP on Satellite A200-1AE

Hello can some one write a instruction of installing Windows XP Professional on this notebook?
    What I need before instalation?
I have oryginal Windows XP. Which drivers i must have before? And what about boot?
I guess that my PC have SATA drive and XP setup don't support it.
Can I burn driver on CD? Becouse I don't have FDD.
    Thanks for help.

    You need instruction?
Search in this forum for similar threads about this theme.
    You will find many threads!!
    But here is a little hint;
You need to include the Intel matrix Storage Manager into the XP setup.
Without the iMSM the XP OS will not find the HDD!!!
The iMSM can be installed using the USB FDD drive or you can create a new XP CD using the freeware tool called nLite.
After the OS installation, you should download and install the Toshiba drivers from the Tosh European driver page.
PS: should check the driver installation instruction txt file before you will start to install the Toshiba XP drivers

  • Installing Windows XP on Satellite A300

    Hi everybody,
I am going to install windows xp on my new a300, but there are few things that i am not sure about.
Firstly, about the xp drivers, is the BIOS important? What does it do?
Also, with xp installed, will i be unable to use some of the functions that i can use in vista?
Here is the a300 drivers page. if anyone can tell me all the drivers that i need, that would be brilliant.

    Hi!
If you use a 32bit OS like Windows XP you should use a BIOS for 32bit Windows systems and for 64bit the 64bit BIOS.
If you use the wrong BIOS, it could be that you cant use all functions like FN keys. So you should make sure that you have the 32bit BIOS.
What you mean with functions that you couldnt use some functions in Windows XP? You can use all functions of your notebook in Windows XP too but you need all drivers and they you can download on Toshiba.
So I think its no problem to use XP.
