Install Xcode on Mac OS X 10.7.2
Hi Everyone,
I have bought a Mac mini with Mac OS X 10.7.2. I am trying to install Xcode 4.2.1 on it through App store but the process stops as soon as it started with a message: "The Application cannot be downloaded The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again."
It's happening since saturday, so it's not a temporary problem as i initially thought.
Please help me with this.

OK, I'm running out of ideas. I've got two left!
1. Be careful with this. In the 'Debug' menu again, click on
Show Download folder...*
Click 'command-i' on your keyboard to open the 'Get Info' window. Look at the permissions at the bottom. They should be 'read & write' for your computer, and 'read' and 'read' for the other two. If the first one is 'read' only, that would stop any downloads. If so, change it (post back here for instructions if you don't know how to do that).
I wouldn't recommend messing with anything else in the Downloads folder, as I'm not sure what it might do, so if the permissions are OK just exit.
The second option's not very satisfying I'm afraid, but short of someone else joining in with any better ideas, go

Yes, you need Lion to install the latest xcode 4.x.
You can install xcode 3.x on Snow Leopard. -
Installing Xcode on MacBook Pro
Hello all,
I am saving up some money to buy the MacBook Pro and I was wondering what to look for when installing Xcode on Tiger. Is it running the installer from the DVD-ROM that comes with it or is there a .pkg file that I click on?

Netdude21There should be a folder on the Tiger DVD called Xcode Tools. That folder contains the .pkg file to install Xcode.

Unable to install Xcode 4.3.2 with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (on my Mac mini)
I tried to install Xcode 4.3.2 from application store, after clicking the Install button, a message displayed as "Installing". (but no progress bar appeared)
After about 30 minutes, (while installation was on progress), my Mac mini crashed and I had to turn off the power and restart it again.
Now, if I try to install the Xcode again, nothing happens after I click the install button except the Apple store login dialog pops in and ask to login.
(No folder named "Developer" has been created in my Application folder yet)Developer folder was not created anywhere, I had checked.
But, latter I found an icon named "paused" in the 2nd page of my Launchpad. When clicking installating simply started and completed without any problems. -
Couldn't successfully install xcode-4.2.1 on my mac os x 10.7 macbook
My machine is a bit old (mid 2007) but the system was upgraded to mac os x 10.7. Today I tried 3 times of install xcode-4.2.1 from the appstore. All 3 times I got the same problem. The installation processes looked quite ok, but after the "Installation done. Launching Xcode..." message, things went wrong.
The "Welcome to Xcode" splash screen appreared correctly, with the version number 4.2.1 (4D502) and the left panel of (Create a new project, Connect to a repository, Learn about...) also correctly shown. The problem is the whole splash screen is irresponsive to the mouse event. I can move around the splash screen here and there, but if I click on anywhere inside the splash screen, I only get a beep and nothing else happens. I can't create a new project, I can't connect to a repository, I can't learn about... and I can't even uncheck the checkbox of (Show this window when Xcode launches). Neither can I cancel the splash screen by clicking the Cancel button. Even after I let it running there for one hour, the splash screen always stays irresponsive.
If I force quit the splash screen or simply reboot the machine, then when I click the Xcode icon on the task bar, I will get the informous error message of "inconsistent internal state, continue or crash".
Any similar experiences? Any hints? Thanks and Merry Christmas.the screen shot, notice that the menu bar of xcode is not completely shown, either.

No you won't. You will need to download it from the
MacApp Store. It is a free download. -
can't download xcode on mac says: Xcode can't be installed on Macintosh HD because Mac OS X version 10.7.4 or later is required.
You need to upgrade your operating system; call 1-800-MY-APPLE, ask for an OS X Lion download code. It will be $29 or so.

You need XCode 4.1 for use with Lion. It is a free download from the Lion App Store. You can login to the App Store on your Lion Server and 'purchase' it. -

Help installing Xcode 2.5 on a Mac OS 10.4 system...
I am attempting to install Xcode 2.5 on a remote 10.4 laptop via ssh but it keeps failing. Originally it was failing because it wouldn't mount the image because the connection tends to be poor during the day so I copied the image to the laptop itself and mounted it.
When I attempt to install I get this:
1. sudo installer -verbose -pkg /private/tmp/amanda_install/tmp/XcodeTools.mpkg -target /

Unlike later versions of the Xcode package which cannot be cd'd into, this is just a link to the Xcode Installer Launcher.app file.

I found the actual XcodeTools.mpkg file in /Packages/XcodeTools.mpkg on the disk image. Only problem is that fails too. This is the dump log from the installer. Individual installation of these packages fails as well.

Install Xcode on multiple Macs
I'm trying to use Remote Desktop to install Xcode on 10 iMacs in our lab, and I'm not sure how to do that. I can't just copy in the packages because they need to be installed in order.
Is this even possible to do with ARD?I don't believe I have needed to show hidden packages. I had downloaded the latest version of xcode. Then I mounted the disk image on my computer. Then started an install package job and dragged in the main metapackage and it installed the whole thing for me. I assume that you must be trying to install just portions of xcode if you need to show hidden packages?
