Installation limits

I just bought PS Elements 11 & Premiere Elements 11.  I have an older version of Creative Suite and it allowed me to install it on 2 computers, my desktop and my laptop.  Will this new version allow me to do the same?

Thank you!

  • BigData connectors installation Limitation

    Hi,
Are there any limitations with Oracle connectors installation regarding to the OS (Linux, windows), DB (10g,11g, which Release/patches) and JVM?
Please regards to OSCH,OLH and ORCH.
Is OSCH working only for 11.2.0.3 on Linux?
    Thanks

Database releases supported by OLH and OSCH: 10.2.0.5, 11.2.0.2 and greater.
    OS:
    - OSCH is supported on Linux. (It requires a Hadoop client on the database, and Hadoop is mostly available on Linux).
    - OLH can load into a supported database on any platform.

  • Boot Camp Assistant "Windows 7 Installer disc could not be found"

I'm attempting to Boot Camp a partition on my MacBook Pro Retina (13", early 2013) and it's not working. I purchased a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit DVD and i'm accessing it through the optical drive on my desktop iMac. So far so good; MBP shows the disc on its desktop through remote disc sharing. The USB drive with downloaded Windows drivers is in place.
However, Boot Camp Assistant won't recognize the Windows 7 DVD, even though it's right on the desktop (remotely). There is a dialog box and it says "Installer disc could not be found .. wait a few seconds"
And that's it. Nothing further happens.
Help! I hate Windows! Why am I doing this??

    Lightwave wrote:
Thank you! I bought Windows 7 on a physical DVD (it's the Home Premium 64bit disc). Hope that was the right thing to do?
    Yes.
So let me get this straight. I can either use this DVD directly on a superdrive plugged in to MBP, or else burn a copy to the USB stick.
MBP will not install from an external SuperDrive due to Windows installer limitations, because it has no driver for the SuperDrive.
How exactly do I do the latter since my own DVD reader right now is by remote disc on my iMac?
Create an ISO using the following procedure on the iMac and then copy it over the network to the MBP or create an ISO by attaching the SuperDrive to the MBP. Use Bootcamp Assistant to point to this ISO when creating the USB for installation.
From Disk Utility 12.x: Duplicate a disk, CD, or DVD
Step 7 will give you an ISO, that you can then copy to the MBP.
    Duplicate a CD-RW or DVD-RW
Disk Utility can’t create usable copies of discs with an incompatible format or discs that are copy-protected. (These include most commercial movie DVDs and audio CDs and some software and data discs.) To copy music from an audio CD to another CD, use iTunes, not Disk Utility.
To burn a disc, you need an optical drive in your computer or connected directly to your computer. You can’t burn a disc using a remote optical drive.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.
Insert the CD or DVD disc in the optical drive, and select it in the list at the left.
Choose File > New > “Disk Image from [disc name].”
Type a name for the disk image.
Choose an option from the Image Format pop-up menu.
Choose “compressed” to create a smaller disk image.
Choose “read-only” to create a disk image that’s quicker to create and open.
    Click Save.
After Disk Utility creates the disk image, eject the original CD or DVD.
Select the disk image in the list at the left, and choose Images > Burn.
When the Burn Disc dialog appears, insert a blank CD or DVD, and then click Burn.
You can continue using the disk image to create as many duplicate discs as you need.

  • Can you make the installer for Vista 64bit as well?

It shouldn't be too hard to make the installer available for Windows Vista 64 bit as well, should it? Or is there a special reason Scout is Windows 7 and >?
I think there's still a lot of people  working on an old Vista machine (like me) who don't really want to upgrade just yet for 1 program?

    Hi RmdB2,
Scout itself is not 32-bit compatible, it is not an installer limitation. Most OS's today are 64-bit and have been available for many years now.
We totally understand your situation but not upgrading to 64-bit will probably prevent you from enjoying other tools pretty soon.

  • PCUI Installation

    Gents,
a small question concercing the PCUI.
If I understand correctly, one needs to install the "business productivity pack (60.1)" to access the PCUI application from the portal.
Is this installation limited to the EP-system, or do we need to install the BSP application on the CRM SERVER seperately as well? I've been searching for the applications on our CRM 4.0 SP9 installation (under BSP application CRM_BSP_FRAME), but can't seem to find them.
    Thx in advance,
    Michael.

    Hi Michael,
usually you can start all applications if you go to BSP application CRM_BSP_FRAME and navigate to "Pages with Flow Logic". Open "select_old.htm" and execute it. It should start a browser window, with a list of all available PCUI applications.
If this doesn't work check transaction SICF if the bsp application "sap\bc\bsp\sap\crm_bsp_frame" is there and configured right. More I don't know you either...
    Bye,
    Michael

  • Adobe acrobat help viewer

How does one configure an Adobe Acrobat executable other than the one included with the Test Stand CD to read the help files. I want to use Acrobat 4.0, not Acroread 4.05. Once installed, Test Stand tries to launch Notepad to view the help files.
    Thanks,
    Roy

Did you install Adobe Acrobat 4.0 before or after installing TestStand?
If you already have an acroread installed before installing TestStand, it should not prompt you to install the 4.05 version. This is due to the fact that you cannot install one version of acroread over another, they need to be properly uninstalled and then the desired version installed afterward (this is an adobe acrobat reader installer limitation). Thus, if you have a version of acroread installed already, and you want to use the TestStand installer version of acroread, you should uninstall your current version of acroread, reboot the pc, then begin the TestStand installation (in which it should now prompt you to do an install or acroread, since you have none).
If you do not have ac
roread installed prior to TestStand, you will get a prompt to install 4.05 just as I indicated above. You can either install this or not, but you will have to install your own version later in order to view the files, properly uninstalling 4.05 if you do decide to install another version afterward.
The main problems I would look for is having two installations at a time on the machine. If this has happened try uninstalling all versions of Acrobat/reader, and reinstall the version you want as the only version. TestStand performs a simple system execute on the help .pdf file when selected from the menu, it is the file associations setup in Windows for Adobe Acrobat that cause the program to be loaded when ever an open command is done on files with the .pdf extension. If anything you might go into the Windows file extensions settings on your machine and make sure that they point at the proper executable.

I'm not sure what the problem is with alloc_thread.
But, yes, the installer limitation is because you are using the TestDrive bits.
TestDrive is designed for ease of installation, and many of the installer
options are not available in TestDrive.

  • Why won't 10.5 Server install on my G4 Cube?

    Hello all,
I have a Cube running Leopard 10.5.8 and I have a copy of OS X Leopard Server I would like to install on it to use as a home network server. But when I run the installer it tells me this computer does not meet the hardware requirements for this software. Which the documentation states is a G5 or newer Intel or a G4 at 867Mhz or better. The Cube has been upgraded with a 1.8 GHz processor using the Freescale 7447a variety of G4 which I recall needed a firmware update to run. I also have 1.5 Gb of RAM. So it more than meets the requirements, it runs Leopard just fine. I can even boot from the Leopard Server DVD but the installer will not let me install OS X Server onto my Cube. I know other people have it running on their Cube, is there a way around this installer limitation or a firmware update I'm not aware of to let me install Leopard Server onto my Cube?
Really need to make this work. Thanks for any information!

There were several 12" G4 iBooks. Only the first was an 800MHz model.
To check the CPU speed of your iBook, you can enter your serial number here:
    http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
The serial number is printed on the underside of the iBook or perhaps inside the machine under the battery.

  • Wallstreet & Sonnet G4 upgrade

    I have a Wallstreet 300MHz that I have recently bought a Sonnet Crescendo/WS G4/500 upgrade CPU for.I have currently...
    - upgraded the memory to 512mb
    - upgraded the hard drive to 40Gb.This is partitioned into a first partition 3Gb for OS 9.2.1 and the second ( roughly ) 35Gb for OS 10.3.6.
As per the instructions, I have booted into OS 9.2.1 and installed the Sonnet software from the CD,shutdown and removed the original CPU and ram , transferred both 256mb Ram sticks to the new CPU and installed it. I then booted into 9.2.1 again and all works well. The Powerbook is much more responsive and works a treat ... in OS 9 only.
I have tried numerous things to get this to work from my Panther partition but it does not want to work in OSX.
I cannot find any software patches from Sonnet or otherwise for this G4 CPU to force it to work in OSX.
Should I install the original CPU and wipe the drive but this time install OS9 and Panther on the same one big partition?
Does this CPU work with OSX - Jaguar/Panther/Tiger? According to the installer it works with OS8.6 to OS10.1
Anyone else installed a G4 CPU on a Wallstreet and successfully have it working in OSX ?
    Stewie

    stewie,
It's been several years since I did 10.4 on the Wallstreet so I cannot give you an exact accounting but it will be close.
I placed my Wallstreet's HD in an external FireWire enclosure and connected it to my iBook G3 800MHz that was running Tiger. As long as your DA (sorry...what is a DA?) has a connector for a 2.5" HD, that should be fine. I am guessing most if not all desktops only have connectors for 3.5" HDs.
    Setting up the HD:
-I am not sure why you chose your particular configuration. MacOS 9.x is all you need to run XPostFacto and since it would be nice to have 9.x on the HD anyway as an alternative boot OS, there is no need for 10.2.8.
-As you know, the Wallstreet has the 8GB limit for running any version of OSX. This only means that the necessary files to boot OSX must be located in the first 8GB of the HD. Apple made it fail-safe by building this limitation into the OSX installer. If you were installing OSX from your optical drive, you would have the HD partitioned so the first partition was 8GB; if not, the installer would gray-out your HD and not let you install. By installing OSX on your HD connected to another computer, you can avoid this installer limitation. This limitation, however, is still present no matter how you install it, but if you install 10.4 on a clean HD plus update to 10.4.11 and then install 9.x, you should not require a partition. All the important 10.4.11 files necessary will be installed at the front of the HD and not be moved (no more updates with 10.4.11) so you can use all of your HD without fear.
-There are two ways to install OSX when connected to another machine that supports Tiger.
    1. Although just a personal preference, I would boot your Wallstreet to the 9.x CD and thoroughly clean/check your HD. Open Drive Setup from the Utilities folder on the CD, then 'zero' the HD followed by 'Test Disk'. You can open Drive Setup Help once Drive Setup is launched and it will walk you through the process. You will then know you have a problem-free HD. I would then install 9.x and XPostFacto. Remove the HD and...
After connecting your HD to the host DA computer, boot the host computer to the Tiger DVD, run the installer, let the host computer restart to the Wallstreet's to finish up installation of Tiger, then install all the updates to bring your Tiger up to its final version. By the way, do a Custom install from the Tiger DVD. Deselect (uncheck) all the printer drivers and foreign language translators; you will save at least 1.5GB of HD space.
With the HD back in the Wallstreet it should start up to 9.x (I believe 9.x is the default boot OS if you lose all power to the 'book and PRAM settings are lost.) Once 9.x is running, launch XPostFacto and choose to boot to 10.4.x. XPostFacto should then make the necessary changes in 10.4 to allow Tiger to run on the Wallstreet. Remember, you must use XPostFacto to switch startup volumes.
    2. The other option for installing Tiger is similar. Instead of installing Tiger from the DVD, use SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner, both available from VersionTracker, to clone the Tiger you are running on your DA to the Wallstreet's HD. You would simply connect the Wallstreet's HD to the host computer, install SD! or CCC on the host computer, launch SD! or CCC, and have it clone your DA's OSX to the Wallstreet's HD. You would then check if the clone was successful by selecting the Wallstreet's HD as the boot volume and see how it performs. If you also have 9.x on the same partition as OSX on your DA, it will also be cloned. The cloning utility will erase the target HD before cloning, so if you choose this path, and your DA does not have 9.x installed, you will need to install 9.x while the HD is still connected to the host and after you have cloned Tiger. You would then install the HD in the Wallstreet, start up to 9.x, install XPostFacto, and select Tiger in XPostFacto as the boot OS.
I am sure you have questions, so fire away.

  • Did Creative Cloud Free Membership expiration Deactivate Master Collection 6

Hi, Have Master Collection Version 6 installed on SSD since 23 May 2014 which has always worked. Apparently a family member installed or activated a free Creative Cloud Membership on this computer while I was away. The membership period for the free Creative Cloud has expired.
Problem: Programs from the Master Collection Version 6 no longer open.
A window with CS6 Master Collection typed at top left appears.
Center of window has a hotlink “Save 40% on Creative Cloud.”
Bottom has 2 buttons, “License this Software” which is active and “Continue Trial” which is not.
“License this Software” opens a sign in required window.
Sign in is successful and opens a Provide Serial Number window.
Copied serial number which is stored on Adobe website under My Products.
Message window appears: “The serial number you provided is invalid. Please try again.”
    Notes:
The Adobe software is only installed on this machine.
The original installation was on an older hard drive which crashed (fortunately I had system image backups elsewhere).
I copied everything, Windows 7, programs, files over to a new SSD system drive and new HD for data files.
OS, programs, and files all functioned without any problems
The Adobe programs worked without any need to register the product again.
Therefore I do not believe that multiple installation limits are the issue
Any help on getting the Master Collection to function again is appreciated.

  • "Setup has found a newer version of Creative Console Launcher on your system. Setup will now exit"

This is the error message I get every time I try to install the Creative Console Launcher version 2.61.35 for my Creative X-Fi Titanium.
I have uninstalled EVERYTHING, multiple times. All Creative applications, drivers, etc. Restarted in safe mode, ran driversweeper, restarted and re-installed.. No dice.
I even downloaded CCleaner and had it nuke my registry in case it detected some files that might be causing problems.
The weird thing is that I don't know how it is detecting a newer version of the launcher. The reason being is because the only launcher I ever installed was the one that came on the physical CD with my soundcard. The only other things I have downloaded and installed were:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Driver 2.17.0008
    DTS Connect Pack 1.03.08
    Dolby Digital Live Pack 3.00.06
I also downloaded and ran the registry fixes that supposedly corrects the audio stuttering when DDL is enabled (I have experienced a lot of crackling/popping in Aliens Vs. Predators).
Anyways, I can apparently access the control panel just fine, but I like the launcher, and it's frustrating not being able to install it. This all started when I wanted to upgrade my driver, so I uninstalled everything before I upgraded, then when I went to reinstall the launcher, I got that message.
    Help?

"If the software is installed correctly, and is the right version, then the updater should recognise it when it's installing."
Why wouldn't the software be installed correctly? I double-click on the installer .exe file and follow the instructions. If it doesn't work, fire whoever coded it!
More seriously, these problems are all caused by Creative's ignorant policies on their software installation restrictions. I mean it's Creative Recorder, not ?2000 worth of software here - why so bloody protecti've about which PC it will install on for God's sake?
Example algorithm for installation limited to Creative cards only: Check SBLi've! installed. Check Creative Recorder existing install. If existing, check version, and update. If not existing, install full version. Exit. Happy customer.
Creative seem unable to follow the above logic. 666% Ignorant. I won't be buying them again.
All the clean install instructions I have read on this site are FLAWED. They either a)require the original CD (WHY?! it's for Windows XP, wasn't even OUT when the CD was made!), and/or b)are riddled with mistakes/generalisations about what should work.
What I'm not seeing here is the truth - Creative make flaky software as their hardware is too good for you to want to upgrade, so this poor software CONS you into thinking you need new hardware. Nice one, waste the planet some more for no help to the consumer. Evil.

  • Multiple Airports with private and isolated guest wireless networks available from both

    Hi,
I've been searching online for some equipment that can do what i want to do without going into the enterprise grade and spending $5000 on Cisco gear.
Consider two locations approx 80m apart - Primary is a house, and secondary location is a garage. A Cat6 run exists between the two.
The goal would be to have a wireless primary router in the house for wired and private wireless internet access, with an additional Guest wireless that is isolated from the private network that I can turn on and off if guests are coming over.
In addition, the second location should also support both wired and wireless connections.
It seems simple to me, one device in each location. The WAN port on the garage device would connect back to the house device. The two devices should be smart enough to know that one is extending the other. Someone on the guest wireless that is connected via the garage AP would not be able to see the wired devices even though it's traffic is going across the same wire back to the primary router.
Can I do this without spending a fortune?
    Thanks

Two Apple AirPorts would do most....but not all...of what you want.
    A few notes.....
In order for the guest network feature to work correctly on an AirPort router, the "main" AirPort in the house must connect to a simple modem......not a modem/router or gateway device.  That is a deal killer for some users right there.
When the guest network is activated in the garage, it must be activated for both AirPorts....house and garage.
You could actiivate the guest network for the house and leave the guest network off in the garage if you wanted, no problem there.....but.....you could not activate the guest network in the garage without also activating it in the house first.
"Guests" can only connect to the guest network using wireless. Up to you to decide if you want to leave the guest network open or use a password that would need to be used to connect to the network.
But.....If "guests" had physical access to the AirPort in the garage....and they connected to one of the Ethernet ports on the AirPort in the garage, they would be connecting to your main or private network.
So, if something like this was a concern, you would have to either hide the AirPort in the garage and trust that users would not find it....or....find some way to limit access to the back panel of the AirPort so that users could not connect to it using an Ethernet cable.
If the features and installation limitations are acceptable, you could spend as little as $100 for each AirPort Express.
If you wanted better performance from the AirPort in the house, you could use an AirPort Extreme there...about $200 and an AirPort Express in the garage.
The deluxe option would be to use two AirPort Extremes.
Finally, you would want to make sure that you understood the store's return policy before you buy.....in case something unexpected crops up, as can sometimes be the case.

  • 8.3 Filenames for Webhelp?

    Hi,
I would like to generate Webhelp output with all installables

    Welcome to our community, Clam
I don't believe it will be possible to easily create WebHelp
output that conforms strictly to the 8.3 file format.
At minimum, I might suggest that you name all topics adhering
to the format. But you will need to monkey with the output files
big time in order to try and get down to the 8.3 format.
Good luck with your quest... Rick

•it came with Mavericks, can i install Mt Lion?
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1835960
The main issue other than not being allowed by the included installers for
most recent OS X systems destined for specific computers, is the means
to work-around the limitations if you really needed to run that older OS X.
Since a supported computer may be used in target disk mode, or tested
to see if it would work that way, in conjunction with one that can install a
system to an internal partition or external drive, so avoiding installer limits.
Without taking a computer apart, the external enclosure or USB flash drive
are better test options, since they are non-invasive to the integrity of the Mac.
One of a few possible issues, when running the hardware from a clone, on an
external drive or USB flash, is in Drivers for Thunderbolt2 & other upgrades.
These would have been included in the intended software package per model.
So, to say drivers for as-of-yet not in use hardware, would be lacking in 10.8.5
when a version of MacBook/Air before Mavericks, did not require their presence.
In prior generations of MacOS and OS X, one of the means of installing systems (or
system parts the installers themselves) was to by-pass use of the Installer on DVD.
Software can be dealt with on different levels, such as one afforded by Pacifist from
charlessoft company, that allows one to install content from extracted packets w/o
    use of the original installers.
Between correct build model year identification and match of exact hardware specs,
some models of '2013' or '2014' may be misidentified and not prime examples to test.
Production run details and end-run or early-build changes may provide erratic results.
Should the need to run Mt Lion 10.8.5 be dire, then one should be looking to those
specialist companies who restore and rebuild Apple computers for a living; as some
are quite good and offer the vintage or older gear, plus they also can repair it well
after the source has ceased support. Everymac.com and Mactracker.ca can help in
determining those models best suited for older OS X, also 'identify by serial number'
sites and databases, can be used to narrow the focus to tell exactly what they are.
Hopefully the matter, if not of dire need, does not ruffle the feathers of big bird...
