Installed on Helios (3.6) for Java EE Developers

I was running 3.4.2 and the wizard screens would only appear when creating a new project.  I switched over to the Helios 3.6 build and there were no dependencies on the install.  Both the new project and component editor appeared correctly.
Hope this helps,
Michael

Yes, I must admit the configuration is more complicated for 3.4.2. Great to hear you got it working on 3.6. Thanks.

  • JDeveloper - problems with Tutorial for Java EE Developers

    Hi,
I am trying to start learning Oracle J2EE technologies, and I am using the Oracle "Tutorial for Java EE Developers (10.1.3.1.0)" listed in the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3) page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/index.html.
I am having problems in chapter 2, at the creating EJB 3.0 Persistence Entities stage, when using the Create Entities from Tables Wizard. Basically, when I select all the tables from the SRDEMO schema and attempt to create the Java classes, only the first table objects are created - ExpertiseAreas.java and ExpertiseAreasPK.java. I do not get any error messages, so I am not sure why the other table objects are not created.
If I then use the Wizard to select tables individually, the objects are created. However, they appear to be missing some details - specifically the @OneToMany annotation.
Has anyone encountered this same issue, or are there any known issues with this tutorial.
I am using version 10.1.3.4 of JDeveloper, on a 10g (10.2) XE database. I installed the version of JDeveloper without JDK included. I have a Sun Java EE 5 SDK Udate 5 (JDK 6u7) install of JDK.
    Thanks,

  • Smallest install that contains EUL commandline for Java

    Hi,
I am looking for the smallest package that contains the BI Discoverer EUL Command Line for Java. (eulapi / eulbuilder.jar)
    (It shouldn't matter whether it's 10 or 11g.)
I only need this commandline tool on a linux box that doesn't have any other Oracle packages installed.
    Any hints?
    Thanks in advance,

Well, we (at school) created a linux for cf-flash-cards and it has about 30-40mb, but no graphical interface. With 50-60mb I am sure it would work withought any problems with graphical interface and Java.
But have a look at Knoppix - a linux which runs from CD and should be able to run java withought problems...

  • Great News for Java Game Developers!

Finally, a complete game engine is being developed for Java! Mind2Machine is developing a genre-neutral game engine that goes way beyond a simple 3D Library.
The engine is called: OpenMind Alpha v0.7 and includes many useful game programming libraries. Say goodby to C++ and complicated engine builds/API's.
Mind2Machine is currently working on OpenMind v1.0 and they need experienced Java programmers to help develop new items. There are a lot of libraries on the drawing board, here are just a few:
    -Java Physics engine
    -All purposes particle system
    -Collision detection
    -And much more...
OpenMind is open source and is developed under the LGPL license.
I'm trying to get the word out, because I believe we could all benefit from this engine.
If you're interested in the engine and/or you would like to contribute to the development of the next version(s). Please visit their webpage:
    http://www.mind2machine.com/gb/openmind/index.php
Check out their developers link, and spread the word!

I got openmind, and started to install it... and then 20 minutes later I realized I hadn't really gotten anywhere and I had to download other software just so that I could install the rest of it, and that software had its own set of bogus instructions... so I got pissed and closed it all :P

  • Looking for "Java Web Developers Toolkit"

    Hi,
Where can I find the Java classes that comprise the "Java Web Developers Toolkit"?
I'd perferr not to install a full size tool like JDevelope. I really just need the classes.

To start, ensure that you get books/tutorials which covers JSF 1.2. Some old books still covers JSF 1.1 only and the changes in 1.2 were fairly big. I can recommend the book "JSF: The Complete Reference". If I am correct, the "JSF in Action" book is only targeted on JSF 1.1 and thus fully outdated.
To learn JSF you need to learn/know/understand at least the following basic concepts:
    HTTP: [http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616.html]
    HTML: [http://www.w3schools.com/html/]
    CSS: [http://www.w3schools.com/css/]
    JS: [http://www.w3schools.com/JS/]
    HTML DOM: [http://www.w3schools.com/HTMLDOM/]
    JSP/Servlet: [http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/] (part II chapters 1-9)
Once learnt/understood the above stuff, you can continue with JSF:
JSF specification: [http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/final/jsr252/index.html] (pick 1st download)
    JSF API document: [http://java.sun.com/javaee/javaserverfaces/1.2/docs/api/overview-summary.html]
    JSF TLD document: [http://java.sun.com/javaee/javaserverfaces/1.2_MR1/docs/tlddocs/index.html]
JSF in general: [http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/] (part II chapters 10-15)
As an alternative to JSP you can also use Facelets, which offers much more advantages above JSP, especially in terms of templating and compositions. The upcoming JSF 2.0 is going to use Facelets as the default supported view technology instead of JSP. So it is better to learn it as well: [https://facelets.dev.java.net/nonav/docs/dev/docbook.html].

  • Installing XML Parser for Java v2

I downloaded Oracle XML Parser for Java v2 and looked in the doc directory of the unzipped files but couldn't find any doc about installation. Can anyone point me in the right the direction or tell me how to install and use it to convert XML files stored in the files system to HTML output using XSL stylesheet. Thanks

There is no installation involved beyond including the xmlparserv2.jar in your CLASSPATH. Take a look in the sample directory where we have included sample code and instructions on their use.
Addiaitonal HTML conversion samples are included with the XSQL Servlet download.

  • Can I install XML parser for Java in Windows 98?

Could someone tell me how to install XML parser for Java in my PC Windows98 (I already installed JDK1.3)? Or it can not be installed in Windows98?
    Thanks in advance!

There's no reason why it shouldn't work on any platform for which JDK1.3 is available. If you're using the batch files shipped with XDK to run the parser, you might need to change the syntax slightly; in any event the key command is just
    java -cp c:\xdk\lib\xmlparserv2.jar oracle.xml.parser.v2.oraxml %xdkparm%Brian

  • After Installing the OS x Mountain Lion some o the softwares are asking for Java SE 6 Runtime. Can someone please help me find a solution.

After Installing the OS x Mountain Lion some o the softwares are asking for Java SE 6 Runtime. Can someone please help me find a solution.

By default, ML no longer comes with the Java runtime preinstalled. I believe the route to enabling Java if you are going to need it is to run the Java Preferences app found in Utilities. It will inform you of Java's absence and offer to install the latest version and activate it. On subsequent runs, the Preferences app will allow you to fine tune how the runtime operates.
Note that the new default operation is for the applet plugin to be disabled. You need to enable it as needed and it self-deactivates if unused in awhile. Also important to note that Java comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions and you can set the preferred order. Default is 64-bit but I've had issues with some applets failing to run and have had to switch the order.

  • Error for Java 7 install

I am having serious issues in downloading Java7. Is anyone willing to offer any helpful tips on an easier process?

    Hello Célia,
indeed SAP GUI for Java has not been released for all editions of Vista.
You can workaround the problem however by running cmd.exe located in system32 with the "Run as administrator" item from context menu and launching the installer from there with "java -jar PlatinGUI....jar". Then it should install as expected.
Please keep in mind, that you are then running it on a platform not officially supported.

    Hi,
I am not aware of a sqlplus v8 for macosx so the nonexistence of it might be your problem. The way I remember it, there are sqlnet libs that are usable from other apps. What you could do is install the v9.2 developers release. This contains sqlplus and in that case just make sure the directory containing sqlplus is in your PATH (you also need a few other environment variables; they are set in DBENV).

  • Problems after installing Quicktime for java

    Hi
I just recently installed Quicktime for java on my computer. Previous to this installation I was running j2sdk1.4.2_03 and this was working fine (compiling and running code) for me. But since I installed QTjava all I can do is compile code.
I have reset my class path back to
    CLASSPTH = .;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin
    and my path to
    PATH = ........... .;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin
When I try to run a simple helloworld programe I get the following error
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: main
I konw that this is something to do with my classpath, but I cann't figure out what is wrong, any ideas would be greatly appricatied
    Donal

the programe I am running is as follows
    public class hello
    {     public hello ()
public void main (String [] args)
         {     System.out.println ("Hello world");
It compiles fine but I get the above error when I run it. It is the same for other more complex programes I have written which contain a main mettod.

  • HT5055 Problem installing new Lion update for Java

When I launch JavaForOSX.dmg, it says: "There maybe a problem with this disk image. Are you sure you want to open it? Opening this disk image may make your computer less secure or cause problems." I have downloaded the lastest Java update for Lion 4 times and I always get this message!  I have never received a similar message in the past. I downloaded the Snow Leopard file and sucessfully updated my wife's computer with no problems. Is the Apple file  bad, or am I doing something wrong.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.3 on a Mac mini (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5).
Software Update does not offer me Java for OS X Lion 2012-002
Preferences->Installed Software does not show any Java updates installed.
When I download from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1515 instead of a 66.9MB file I get a 63.8MB file (every time) and it gives me the error "There may be a problem with this disk image.  Are you sure you want to open it?" when I open the DMG.
I think Apple needs to provide a new disk image for this patch.

  • Can't get FB4 to run out of an existing install of Helios

    Eclipse Version:
    Version: Helios Service Release 1
    Build id: 20100917-0705
    (64bit default JRE)
    OS:
    W7 Professional 64
I installed FB4 trial a couple of weeks ago. At that time I had an already installed copy of helios eclipse on this system. After running into problems post install I reverted to using the bundled eclipse installation since I didn't want to deal with debugging an install/configuration issue at that time. I was more interested in doing some Flex education.
Today however I decided to revisit this and am running into the exact problem.
I completely unistalled Flash Builder and Eclipse from my system.
Reinstalled the latest Helios GA of Eclipse (J2EE bundle) and varified that it functioned properly (installed antroid dev stuff and was working fine under this platform).
Went back to the install bundle for FB4 and ran the image.
I was prompted for the option to install into an existing installation of eclipse to which I selected and provided the path to the existing eclipse.exe
Install was performed without any noticable errors (install log shows all green).
However, upon starting Eclipse for the first time post install I get this:
An internal error occurred during: "Creating Adobe Flash Player trust file...".
    com/adobe/flexbuilder/project/internal/PlayerTrustStore
and it goes downhill from there, e.g., any attempts to access any FB4 resources (project creation wizards, help links, etc.) either result in errors like this:
The selected wizard could not be started.
Plug-in com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.ui was unable to load class com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.ui.wizards.FlexApolloProjectWizard.
An error occurred while automatically activating bundle com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui (802).
    Or does nothing at all.
It's funky enough that FB4 insists on installing a separate copy of Eclipse, but also essentially breaking the version that I'm already using is pretty hostile...
I hope this is something that I'm doing incorrectly and can be adjusted. Is this possibly a problem with my install of eclipse using the 64bit Java SDK ?

I think I found my own answer... thanks anyway,
So I'm to understand that Adobe has not provided a plugin compatible with the 64bit JRE? I say again... are you f*ig*in kidding me?
That right there would be good reason to avoid this altogether. given the cost of the license for this product certainly there must be a priority for getting this to market. I've found threads dating > a year ago asking, no, demanding this and still not available... that's a lifetime in technological time.
