I am using Mac book with windows 7. But my sound card and cam is not working when booted through windows. How can I solve this?
    Thanks

Assuming that you tried to install Win 7 in bootcamp.
Power on the machine and press and hold the "option" key when you hear the bong sound.
Select the Macintosh HD icon and press "return" or just click on the icon.
Once booted into OS X go to System Preferences and select the Startup Disk icon and configure startup to use the Macintosh HD.

Ok, so basically my charger fell apart on my MacBook pro(2010) and I didn't have the money for a new charger, I got it in the states too if that's relevant. Basically my laptop will not charge, I bought a new charger yesterday and it's still no-use,not charging . No green or orange light coming on on the new charger either.

It is one of the items that Apple gets criticized at regular intervals. The MagSafe connector is proprietary and unlicensable, so the company has a lock-in on the power options. And as you have now found out, your hijinks trying to avoid buying an expensive new charger may have caused more damage and led to a total no-charge condition.
If lucky and no physical damage has occurred (there IS a fuse in there somewhere on the circuit boards), maybe resetting the SMC can restore charge functionality, provided there is still enough juice: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Just installed Lion and now my Word, Excel and Powerpoint no longer work. What can I do to open all old documents?

I just installed Lion to my Powerbook that I purchased in October 2010. My Microsoft Word documents no longer open and my Mac version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint no longer work. What can I do to open all old documents?

    Upgrade to Office 2011.
You must be running Office 2004, which was designed to run on PowerPC Macs.
PowerPC apps would run via "Rosetta" on Snow Leopard, but with Lion, Apple has finally pulled the plug on PowerPC apps.

  • After installing OSX Lion, the built-in camera no longer works.  Solution?

After installing OS X Lion on a late 2010 MacBookPro, the built-in camera no longer works.  Worked beautifully with Snow Leopard.  Reset SMU to no avail.  Any solutions?

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate your help with this.
Yes to both questions: iMovie is in the Applications folder, not in any subfolders. And I have reinstalled iMove from the original disc (before and after the OS reinstall) but can only get up to 7.1.4 without buying a later edition of iLife.
The camera definitely worked under Snow Leopard but not since I upgraded from SL to Mountain Lion.
Found the following on this forum:
If you have iLife '09 or older, there have been no iPhoto 8, iMovie 8 or
Garageband 5 (or older) updates relating to Lion or Mountain Lion. The
support and compatibility situations for those versions is unknown as
Apple hasn't said anything. We can only determine compatibility
anecdotally. If it turns out that there is a problem and Apple doesn't
release an update, your only recourse is to buy the latest version of
    the application.
I reinstalled some other iLife apps as well. iDVD went missing after the ML reinstall. When I reinstalled it from the original disc, it wouldn't open and I had to download a manual update to get it working. iWeb previously stopped working after the upgrade to ML (all the menu options were greyed out) but when I reistalled it (together with iMove and iDVD) yesterday, it started working again.
All this seems to point to a compatibilty issue between iLife '08 and ML.

Hi, I got my Mac in 2009 with photoshop elements on it - it's recently been wiped, however before the process we put Photoshop onto a hard drive, we then copied it back over and it no longer works, I'm getting error code 150:30 and I'm being asked for a password... any ideas how to get it working again?

You can never, never migrate an installed copy of PSE. It's just too complex and you can't get to all the bits and bobs.
First you will have to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
which will not seem to do anything, but is necessary to break the links within PSE so that you can pitch the bits manually. Then you will have to go around, not only to applications, but also to your username>library>preferences and most importantly to the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe, and remove everything you can find. Spotlight will not help with this kind of search, so don't try that.
Then you can install PSE from scratch.

  • The context has expired and can no longer be used errors making farm unusable

There are a couple of other posts on this forum about the message "The context has expired and can no longer be used" but they all suggest something related to time and time zone differences. This is not the case in my farm and I have disabled
the security checking of requests on my web applications. Hopefully someone at Microsoft is very aware of this and is working to resolve it because my farm and many others are unusable like this.
I have dug through all of the ULS errors when it happens and there is nothing useful. It barely even registers as a message although, I have not turned on verbose logging, which I am about to try. I have SP 1 installed. Just to be clear, this is happening
    on SharePoint 2013 Enterprise.
I have been fighting this for a month. I can add a few things about the farm I am trying to fix:
    1. It was a WSS 3.0 farm that when through a 2007-2010-2013 migration in short order.
    2. I believe it is under-powered on the hardware side. All VMs on a host shared with 40 other VMs, some fairly busy. Here's the virtual farm breakdown:
-1 WFE with 12GB RAM and 2 cores
-3 app servers with similar resources
-No paging file on C: on any VM. This is a decision by sysadmin. Paging on D: is system managed. Probably irrelevant.
    3. Rapidly clicking from link to link seems to bring on the failure much sooner.
Any suggestions even about how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

Ultimately, I think it is a time sync issue across the farm. We still have request management off on all boxes because I cannot get the admins to resolve this issue but, in my lab environment I ran into a similar thing.
I may turn RM back on later to see if it comes back but here's what I think happens: In production we have 2 ESXi hosts and our SP environment is all AD (of course). The clocks are all out of sync, sometimes beyond 5 minutes. (The time sync for AD is something
I believe a lot of admins don't understand when running virtual.)
If you allow ESXi to try to sync the time for all guests you run into problems. Maybe they are more pronounced with SharePoint. Anyway, VMware and AD start fighting over the time (check your event logs) and, for us, the clocks across the domain get out of
sync beyond the 5 minute allowable window.
I recommend disabling time sync from host to guest and do what MS recommends: make your domain controller the master time server and configure it to get its time from a reliable source (which can be a single hardware host over NTP). Make other domain controllers
sync from the PDC. The other windows machines will all sync to the domain when they log in. This will prevent SharePoint from issuing tokens from one machine that are out of sync time-wise with the other machines and thus throwing the "Context has expired
and can no longer be used" errors.
Note that disabling host to guest time sync is not as simple as just clearing / un-checking the box in the VSphere client. That doesn't do it. You will need to Google for the 6 or so custom properties you must add to each guest to prevent VMWare from re-synchronizing
    after certain hardware events.

  • Keyboard and mouse no longer work when booting into Rhapsody

I still have a bootable partition with the last release of Rhapsody (aka Mac OS X Server) on my Power Mac G4 but it's been a while (years!) since I actually booted it up. The G4 also has bootable partitions with Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 (and is in daily use running 10.4.11).
I used to boot into Rhapsody occasionally, mostly for interest's sake, occasionally to test Unix software on legacy systems; I haven't tried to do so since installing 10.4 until now.
When I booted up from the Rhapsody partition today, all went well -- the system started up fine, and the login screen appeared -- but the keyboard and mouse no longer work. I even got out the original keyboard and mouse that came with the G4, with no luck.
I assume that recent firmware updates have bypassed support for Rhapsody. I guess I'm not surprised -- it was a developer-only release, after all. But has anyone a solution?

Adding to the above: I also tried plugging in an Microsoft USB keyboard at the point when Windows freezes at the Windows log-in screen. The keyboard is not recognized and the only way I can leave this screen is to power-off the computer.
