How do I find these 'Helpful' or 'Solved' answers? It says there are no replies to this topic and Search doesn't turn them up (or turns up too many topics to sift through!).
This is the easy bit. When looking at the questions you've posted you'll find buttons above each response, one reads something like *Mark as Helpful* & one *Marked as Solution*. If you think a response is helpful to you you can mark it as helpful. If it provides the solution mark it as such. With each question you can mark just one response as the solution and up to two as helpful. When you look at a question that says *This question is not answered. "Helpful" answers available: 2 . "Solved" answers available: 1.* it means that nobody has so far offered any helpful advice to the original poster and, for those who care about such things, that points are still availible for helping out.
Nothing obvious comes to mind regarding the main problem. Do you shut down Windows when iTunes is still open? You might be interuppting the housekeeping it does when it shuts down.

When I try to print I get the message that there is new software to install from Software Update. Grrrr. Have also tried a reinstall from the driver on a disk that came with the printer. Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Thank you Bturko in the future only migrate/copy/transfer your documents and settings. Adobe applications especially are not designed to be transferred from one computer to another. It is possible to recover however. I would recommend the following steps:
Run the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files they can be downloaded at Download CS3 products.
Run the installer and reinstall Creative Suite 3.

reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only

Why does the Welcome to firefox tab open with my google tab every time I open the browser? And why can't the browser hold any add-ons I downloaded? I loose then when I close the browser, even tool bars have to be reinstalled every time I open the browser

Every time I open the browser the Welcome to Firefox tab is the first tab, then a second tab opens and thats my google, then a 3rd tab opens for me to reinstall my toolbar. This has been happening for a good year. Updates have not fixed it. Others have this problem. I did a search for an answer, the question is out there but no answer. Now if I go into add ons and add a background Theme or an extension it all is gone when I exit the browser. When I open the browser again I get all 3 tabs and have to install my toolbar again. I DO NOT want to reinstall as I will loose all my saved data, passwords, bookmarks, everything! I have had this computer for a year, Windows Vista x64 bit. Its not the computer, it's the browser. [Solved] embedded videos in firefox take a lot of CPU time

Playing embeded videos in Firefox take a lot of CPU time. Actually my old computer is not able to play these videos correctly if they are in HD. The problem appears with flash videos (not so surprising, flash sucks...) but also with html5 videos (there is an option in youtube to turn that on). However if I succeed to have the direct URL, these videos play perfecrtlky fine in mplayer using not more than 10-20% of CPU time. Is there a solution to that? Is there any possibility to use an external player to play HTML5 videos in firefox? If anybody knows, Why this problem, are the mozilla folk aware of this problem? (Note that I posted a thread a long time ago for this problem but concerning flash only)

There's not much you can do to make HTML5 videos as fast as Xv, see http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/wiki/FAQ. They are slow for the same basic reason as Flash... the video overlay cannot be used because the standard allows for controls and CSS to be rendered on top of the video.
As for redirecting to an external player... this is not as easy as it could be. If the videos appeared in <embed> tags or <object> tags, one could use Mozplugger, Media Player Connectivity and other programs, but I don't think one has been written to handle the <video> tag. An upcoming update to firefox will make it use gstreamer, however. If this still results in slow playback, it will at least make it easier to use an external player. I imagine you would have to patch firefox to make it use a port on the localhost as the video sink instead of the screen. Then you would run gst-launch to receive that RTP stream.

Guys, I been in the business working on PC and MAC for years. So I am not green at this, I was looking for some kind of option to get past the boot loader.. Which is failing.
I know how to boot into these modes.. Done tons of research before posting and couldn't find anything.
It will not go into Internet Recovery, or any thing else. I hear the sound .. then that is it.. I get nothing else..
I have tried clearing the NVRAM which is Option + Command + P + R
Still nothing..
So I thought I would try here to see if maybe there was some trick out there someone might know of that would work.

I give up. Can anyone tell me what I must do get the program to actually work?
I spend more time trying to get Adobe Acrobat to work, than I do actually doing my work.
My OS is Windows 8.1. My system has 16 MB of RAM, and hard disks are not overfilled.
I run update virus checker (Kaspersky) daily.

Could you please tell what are the challenges you are facing while trying to access Acrobat ?
Do you get any error message ?If yes ,please share the screen shot of the same.

Try repairing it from Control panel, or try launching it with a different user account and check if it works or not.

Thread.sleep takes a lot of CPU time!

I have the run method like this:

The above code's performance was measured under stress test. . The sleep operation seems to take a lot of CPU time
though ideally sleep is like a no-operation mode, meaning since no operation
is done when a thread sleeps, it should not use any/minimal CPU time.
But it seems to take over 30% of CPU time!
Any ideas on why such a weird thing's happening?
In fact, in one more similar method also, sleep is taking similar CPU
time.

A sleeping thread uses no CPU. Try the following, both with and without the for loop. If you see a constant high CPU usage, even when the thread is sleeping, it's probably that the CPU usage is measured as an average over the last second or several seconds, so when the tasks you're performing are intense and take a significant fraction of the time you're sleeping, the average CPU usage doesn't go down that much.

I have Firefox for U3 and lately it keeps trying to instal an update, which fails and a 2nd window tells me another copy of F'fox is running (which isn't) and when I close the window F'fox starts anyway, but all this takes a lot of time.

I have Firefox for U3 on my Verbatim stick to run on whatever computer I happen to be using. Lately every time I try to open F'fox a window comes up saying "Firefox is installing your updates and will start in a few moments." The status bar indicates the update is progressing, 'though a bit slowly, then suddenly it's done and the window disappears, only to be followed by another window coming up which says "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on you computer and then re-start Firefox to try again."
If I press the 'OK' button OR press the Close button, the window disappears, but then F'fox starts up all by itself anyway.
How can I stop this updating problem happening every time and on every computer I use.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
Try to toggle some Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features.
Filter: gfx
Some to try:
* set gfx.direct2d.disabled to true to disable Direct2D
* set gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.use_gdi_table_loading to false.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.
