Installer Keeps Crashing - Mac

Hi,
I'm trying to install a program using Adobe Air as its platform.
When it stopped working, I was advised to uninstall the application, and Adobe Air, which I did.
However now that I'm trying to download and install it again, the installer keeps crashing.
If someone could help me figure out why this is happening, I would appreciate it greatly.
Thanks.

I found a fix.  The installer basically downloads the latest version but crashes when it tries to run it.  Go into C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify and run the SpWebInst.exe file.  Should work after that. The only thing I don't like about this new version is some playlists have songs that are not playable in the US.  The old version would find alternatives of those and still play them.  This new version just dims them out, so I find myself manually having to copy the playlist, search for the dimmed songs and add them back to the playlist.  PITA.

Ok. If I install it and CS5 does work...will the Creative Cloud be able to run at the same time as CS5? or will Creative Cloud delete or over-rule my current adobe creative suite? I would like to keep the CS5 for older projects ideally

  • Application Installer keeps crashing, won't install anything!

I've been having a bunch of problems since upgrading to 10.5.2. I got a lot of things fixed, and the system is mostly stable, but one issue that remains is that I can't get any installer to run. Application Installer keeps crashing. (Unexpected Quit)
I tried a few receipts and they didn't work either. System Update seems to run fine and completes installs. I tried P-RAM reset, Safe Boot, Repair Permissions. One of the fixes to my other issues was Disk Warrior. (But having run it recently I doubt another lengthly pass will help.)
So I am a bit stuck. (And really missing my 3rd party mouse and it's much needed driver)

I too am in the same position, ever since I did an install using the combo updater (I think) at the beginning of the month I have been unable to install anything that requires a restart.
However, if the install doesn't require a restart it works OK.
I have checked permissions and disk, I have rebooted in safe mode and I have created a new account and tried all to no avail.
I have just downloaded the kits and tried and these too fail with the installer quitting.

  • Nokia Applications Installer keeps crashing!

I recently downloaded the Nokia PC Suite for my Nokia 6820.
It's working great with two big exceptions: one being that  the Applications Installer keeps crashing.
I've tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it, and repairing it to no avail.
    Any suggestions?
(The other problem im having is with the software updater which cant seem to find my phone, despite the fact that Nokia PC Suite finds it with out any problems. -im guessing this is because my model isnt one of the models that can make use of this program?)
    Thanks in advance

  • Premiere Pro CC keeps CRASHING - Mac

Premiere Pro has been crashing for over a year. Even before I upgraded to CC.
Sometimes it will crash more than 5 times in 10 minutes. Longest it has run is just under an hour without crashing.
Everytime it crashes it says "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your project."
Now I am editing a project trying to import an AAF file and it keeps crashing on import.
I have done a full uninstall, used CC Cleaner. Reinstalled and it still crashes.
The log I get from the crash is massive but happy to paste it here if it helps. Let me know.

  • My firefox installation keeps crashing when I start it up in anything other than safe mode, how can I see the details of the crash report?

I've had Firefox installed on this computer for a couple of years, but only really started using this computer in the last 6 months. Originally Firefox 14, then Firefox 17.0.01, then finally 19.0
It crashed yesterday on starting, I uninstalled and reinstalled and same issue. I regressed back through version 17.0.0.1 and Firefox 14. I updated Shockwave, Flash, Java. I also uninstalled Divx, AC3 and Adobe Reader (recent installs/updates)
Updated MIcrosoft security essentials and ran a scan, no issues discovered. Updated and ran Superantispyware and found 1 Trojan which I removed.
Crash reporter comes up as soon as the firefox link is actioned. Can start firefox in Safemode.

please start firefox in safemode (by pressing the shift-key while it is launching) & go to ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' & disable hardware acceleration.

What is going on here? can anyone decipher this for me please?

Try these in order. Stop if one of them allows .pkg files to install:
    - Run Disk Utility to check for errors. (Do not repair permissions when booted to the install disk.)
    - Try dragging and dropping the .pkg file on to the actual Installer. You can find it in /Applications/Utilities.
    - Insert your Tiger install disk into your computer. Open a Finder window showing the contents. On the install disk go into the Applications folder, then into the Utilities folder. Drag the Installer icon from the install disk into the /Applications/Utilities folder on your hard drive, telling it to replace the version there.
    - Archive and Install, preserving Network and User settings

  • LR 5 - Creative Cloud - Keeps Crashing - MAC

Worked fine an hour ago. Just imported 1,100 photos and I needed to restart my computer. After that I haven't been able to open LR. Before it even launches it says "LR quit unexpectidly - click to reopen" I do and it says the same thing. I send the error report and it says it could not find any solutions or workarounds for recent crash.
Tried updating Mac software - still doesn't work. Restarted my computer again, nothing. Photoshop works fine, but not LR.

Littlekidsin what operating system are you using?  Have you utilized the steps listed in Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application?

  • Installer keeps crashing

When ever I download the installer for spotify and run it, it completes the download. However, it stops working and crashes as soon as it's done. Is there something wrong with the installer or is it my computer?

I found a fix.  The installer basically downloads the latest version but crashes when it tries to run it.  Go into C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify and run the SpWebInst.exe file.  Should work after that. The only thing I don't like about this new version is some playlists have songs that are not playable in the US.  The old version would find alternatives of those and still play them.  This new version just dims them out, so I find myself manually having to copy the playlist, search for the dimmed songs and add them back to the playlist.  PITA.

  • Mac 10.5.8... programs keep crashing, mac freezes

    Hello!
I am running a 10.5.8 and am having a boatload of problems with my laptop at the moment. I can't remember exactly when, but a few days ago my laptop began to freeze whenever I would start a web browser (doesn't matter which one). Then I noticed Last.fm would crash as soon as I opened iTunes. Been trying to fix Last.fm, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall, whatever. Doesn't help. So I've tried searching for viruses... nothing. Verified and repaired the disk. Nothing. Running in safe mode doesn't help much, as Safari as crashed multiple times just in me trying to type this.
I'm running low on options. After searching and searching, it seems the only option is to do an archive and install. Here is my question (be gentle)..... am I going to need to back up my files before I do this, or is it going to save all of those for me as part of the archive? I want to know if I should do that anyways before hand.
    Thank you.

If you have an external disk it is always best to backup, erase the disk and do a clean install with the original DVD.
I prefer to use Carbon Copy Cloner for the backup but in many cases simply taking a copy of users' Home folders with the Finder is adequate. Check that the backup contains all data and is readable before you erase. Better still have more than one backup.
It is best to avoid the temptation to import anything from elsewhere during the install because this so often reintroduces the problem.
Make sure you know your network settings.
    Good luck.

  • Disk installation keep crashing - Hard Drive corrupt

    Hi,
I tried to fix a hard disk problem on my 2010 macbook pro.
When I verify my disk with disk utility, it reports that 'The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaird'.
So I follow the instruction by using the install disk to fix it using disk utility, however before it manage to go to the disk utility, it always crash with grey screen telling me to restart the computer.
I cant even do clean install of the operating system, since it says that there's a bad sector.
    Can someone help me?
    thanks,
    Joseph

    Shootist007 wrote:
If it gets bad sectors it need to be replaced.
Then you will have to ship every drive back, because they ALL have bad sectors, it's almost impossible to not have at least one.
The drive firmware has a system in place to map off bad sectors automatically, and one can force the issue with a zero erase procedure in special problematic cases.
I have multiple drives in every system I have never had bad sectors showing up unless the drive is starting to fail.
Well that's true for most people as the automatic system "**usually**" works.
But one can have bad sectors on a brand new drive from the factory, or they can occur out of the blue and corrupt data or lose files, or can occur if the heads strike the platters.
A zero erase cures these and it doesn't necessarily mean the drive is mechanically failing in each and every case.
If the drive has issues after the zero erase, then yes it's time to replace the drive.
Don't believe me, believe the drive makers
Why would I want to Zero Fill my drive?
The most common reasons to Zero Fill a SATA or ATA (IDE) hard drive are:
to remove a virus that cannot be removed without destroying the boot sector.
to change from one operating system to another and wish to remove everything from the drive.
to erase confidential information for privacy reasons.
to scan for bad sectors that can be detected and replaced with good spare sectors when writing to the sectors.
By design, modern disc drives maintain spare sectors for reallocation purposes.   **Usually**, sectors become difficult to read long before they become impossible to read. In this situation the actual data bytes in the sector are preserved and transferred to the new spare during a sector reallocation. Similarly, when a disc drive writes data (like a zero fill erase procedure) and encounters a problem, the drive firmware retires the problem sector and activates a replacement before giving successful write status.
    http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/203931en
Writing zeros to a drive is recommended any time an operating system is to be reinstalled on a boot drive or whenever a blank drive is desired.

  • Outlook Mac 2011 keeps crashing after Maverick installation

    Hi everyone,
just installed Maverick. Now my Outlook Mac 2011 keeps crashing. I just freezes up and eventually pops a window stating "microsoft outlook must be closed because an error occured. any unsaved work may be lost.". Anyone seen this too and found a way to fix?
    Cheers,

I have found MS Office databases to be fragile.  When I had the 2008 version, it was corrupted by an MS Office upadate.  The same thing recently occurred to me in MS Office 2011 after I migrated to a new iMac.  The tech support person from Microsoft had to reinstall MS Office 2011 from scratch and I had to start over with a new Main Identity.
Fortunately, there are ways to migrate all your old email to a new main identity but it is a pain.
I suggest you head over to the Microsoft forums to see what they are saying over there.   It could be that your database was corrupted by the update to Mavericks but there are other things that cause that delicate database to get corrupted.  I realize this does not fix your problems but you might gain some additional insights at the Microsoft web site.

All updates are installed and I would appreciate some help please.

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
A stale or corrupt kernel cache
    A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
    Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by booting in safe mode and then rebooting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model. Memory that is either slower or faster than specified may be incompatible.
The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If your system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
