Installing 10.2.0.1 Oracle Client after installing XE

Hi all,
I have a oracle XE installed on a enterprise linux.
Now, i wanted to install the10.2.0.1 oracle client in the same system but i get the following error when installing with oracle universal installer 10.2.0.1:
OUI-10133:Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Linux for installation in this staging area.
I tried with:
ORACLE_BASE=/usr/lib/oracle and group name = dba (from XE installation)
and with:
ORACLE_BASE=/oracle and group name = oinstall (suggested in 10g client manual)
but i get the same error.
Can anyone tell me what's the problem?
Thanks,
Celio

It sounds as if the products.jar (or similar) is missing from the stage directory on your installation disk.

  • Provider not compatible version of Oracle client after upgrade 4.112.1.2

    I had an ASP.NET 3.5 website running

    OS Win2008 Standard 32-bit
    Oracle Database 11g107 32-bit
    Oracle DataAccess 2.111.60 32-bit
    On a development laptop,

    The development laptop had
    OS Windows 7 32-bit
    VS 2010
    Oracle Database 11g201 32-bit
    Oracle DataAccess 4.112.12
    Application was running without errors.
    On the production server,
    I uninstalled Oracle Database 11g107,
to include removing Oracle home and install folders,
and in HKLM > Software > Oracle registry folder.
    I installed Oracle Database 11g201
and installed the ODP.NET upgrade to 4.112.12.
    (except for VS components).
    In the website web.config,
I changed the referenced assembly to:
    <assemblies>
         <add assembly="Oracle.DataAccess, Version=4.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" />
I changed IIS70 Application pool advanced settings to ASP.NET 4.0,
    restarting application pool and website.
    Rebooted system.
On starting the application when it accesses the Oracle connection,
I get the dreaded: Provider not compatible.
Exception Details: Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client

It is not the VB.NET Oracle connection code,

  • Where to running SQL Scripts after install of ODAC for Oracle Client?

I just installed ODAC for Oracle Client on a windows server, that runs a sql server database, for developers to connect a web app to an Oracle/Unix database. The install states to run SQL scripts located in the $ORACLE_HOME\ASP.NET\SQL directory after the install. I'm not sure where to run them? On the ORACLE DB on the Unix server? If someone could bring me up to speed I would appreciate it. Thanks.

If I do run the scripts, do you know what user they should be run as? The developer are using ASP.NET for connectivity.
Why there is no Oracle Expert answer this simple question? ?
After ODAC 11.1.0.7.20 installation completed, there is a message in the last screen:
*"Run the SQL script located in c:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\ASP.NET\SQL directory for a new installation or an upgrade of Oracle Providers for ASP.NET"*
The question is: How to run these 9 SQL scripts ?
In SQL*Plus, which oracle user should I connect to in order to run these 9 scrips, including:
    InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql
    InstallOracleASPNETCommon.sql
    InstallOracleMembership.sql
    InstallOraclePersonalization.sql
    InstallOracleProfile.sql
    InstallOracleRoles.sql
    InstallOracleSessionState.sql
    InstallOracleSiteMap.sql
    InstallOracleWebEvents.sql

  • Problem Installing Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit on Windows 7 Enterprise 64

    Hi,
I am having problems installing the Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit installation on my Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise machine. The installer does all the checks successfully, it gets me to summary screen and I press finish to start the installation. It then opens the installation mask where it first says Checking whether Central Inventory is locked by another OUI session. After that it very briefly shows Central Inventory is not locked and then the window immediately dissapears with no other errors. I tried installing at my colleague's W7 Enterprise 64 machine and it behaves a little differently but with the same result. Basically on his machine it never even opens the Install mask, when pressing finish from the Summary it just disappears and never starts installation. I tried installing 11g R1 and that loads the first mask and when i press next it just dissapears. I basically need an oracle client 64 bit installation on my machine deperately. Please help. Thanks
    Alex

One user above reported installing the 64 bit odbc drivers and then the 32 bit drivers. How did you do that? I'm a neophyte to this.
I'm trying to get a 32 bit ODBC oracle driver to work on a server 2008 R2 machine. I downloaded the 11gR2 x64 client from oracle. The install process makes no mention of 32bit vs 64bit installation. After running the instalation I can run the ODBC administrator and generate a DSN for oracle. When I run the 32 ODBC administrator there is no oracle driver available except the microsoft driver for oracle. When I select that it says that I need to install oracle.
I had at first tried to install 11g instant client. However that didn't work for the 2008 R2 machine. It complained about some registry error when I tried to run the ODBC install program. I need to get it to work for a customer asap.

  • Installing Latest Oracle Client & ODT for Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Windows 7 64-bit. I would think that using 32-bit Java, 32-bit Oracle Client and 32-bit ODAC would work just fine on this operating system. However, I had no luck getting it to run. Here is what I did and a few reasons why I prefer to never work with Oracle products:
    Installed 32-bit JDK/JRE (1.6 Update 25)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 1
Tested connectivity from SQL Developer successfully
Installed 32-bit ODT (11g R3) to Home 1 (installer noted upgrades and new installs)
Failed connectivity from all things windows (ODBC, ADO, ADO.Net)
    Uninstalled 32-bit ODT
Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (oraparam.ini file missing among other issues)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 2
Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (told to use deinstall tool)
Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 2 (told to use deinstall tool)
Failed to run uninstall tool in Home 1 (told to download standalone deinstall tool)
Uninstalled 32-bit Oracle Client Home 2 (completed successfuly with errors - seriously?)
Uninstalled 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (completed successfully, but couldn't delete folder)
Oracle.DataAccess and Oracle.Web are still installed in GAC. Uninstall attempts fail (access denied)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 1
Tested connectivity from SQL Developer successfully
Tested connectivity from .Net 3.5 successfully (using 32-bit 2.0 dll)
Tested connectivity from .Net 4.0 successfully (using 32-bit 2.0 dll)
Does anyone have any suggestions on getting Oracle Data Tools for Windows to work before I try that again?

I realize ODT uses ODP, but installing release 3 upgraded the .Net 2.0 ODP DLLs (which were installed from the Oracle Client 11g Release 2 install) and added the .Net 4.0 DLLs. After that install everything stopped working from Windows land and then it took the better part of two hours to get it back to what it looked like prior to the install. The other thing weird thing I noticed is that although Oracle.DataAccess is registered in the 2.0 GAC I cannot add a reference that way using VS2010. I have to manually add a reference to the file path. Although it still appears I do not have to have the assembly copied locally to run, so the GAC registration seems to be working in that regard.

  • Errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 on zLinux (Red Hat)

I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:

The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!

Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

  • How to install oracle client on linux_x86_64 on red hat 5

Hi, installing the oracle client on a linux server is new to me as I have always installed the client on windows servers. I have been looking on the OTN site for just the client download but I do not see one and also I have been looking through the installion guide for the 10gr2 database on x86_64 but there is no mention of a client install just speaks to install the database software?
Is there a separate install for just the client or do I have to install the entire rdbms with no database?
    Thanks in advance.

HI, I actually was following that exact document and I had downloaded from the link also to get the binaries...The problem I am running into is that when I run the installer it is after the first screen it is throwing an OUI-10203 the specified response file does not exists? It appears as though the installer thinks I am attempting to run an automated installation? Not sure why it is doing this I am clearly trying to run this interactively?
    Any thoughts.

    Hi,
look into services, is there any services is still exist or running with the same name.
or give any other SID which you have given previously.

  • Installing Oracle Client in 9.2.0.8

I was trying to install oracle client and in OSS 1017418, it states:
"Confirm that /oracle/client/92x_64/lib is a link to /oracle/<DBSID>/920_64/lib"
Can anyone advise me how to do this in AIX 5.3? I know the command is "ln". Should it be a soft link or hard link? And which is the source? I assume it is /oracle/client/92x_64/lib.
I tried to extract the OCL92064.SAR under /tmp directory and the next thing i realised is it actually overwritten the permission of /oracle directory! ora<sid> & <sid>adm thus lost access to /oracle and unable to start SAP.
I solved this by changing back the permission of the directory and put back the original 92x_64
Anyone know any safer way of doing this task?
Points will be given when helpful answers or solutions are provided.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eric,
After I did that, I saw "lib -> /oracle/client/92x_64/lib" under /oracle/<sid>/920_64/lib directory, is this correct?
I thought "lib -> /oracle/client/92x_64/lib" would be under /oracle/<sid>/920_64 directory instead?
    I am abit confused.

  • Oracle Client version (32 or 64 bit) to install on a Windows 2008 64-bit m/

    Hi guys,
      I am installing BOXI 3.1 SP2 on a Windows 2008 64-bit server.
Which Oracle 10g client (32 or 64 bit) should I install on a 64-bit software. I know BO is native 32 bit, so ODBCs should be 32 bit incase CMS repositories are on SQL server.
Is there a standard for Business Objects for the versions of database client tools to be installed on server?
Also can we install database clients tools after the Business Objects 3.1 SP2 install on the server, provided I am using SQL server dbs for CMS and Audit databases?
    Thanks,

    @Duncan
You recommend using 32 bit Oracle client. Is there any official documents from SAP BO stating this? I have difficulties finding anything. I'm in the same situation:
    OS : Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit
    BO : 32bit
    Oracle Client : 32bit OR 64bit?????
Is BO 32bit compatible with Oracle Client 64bit, at the level of using Infoview/Desktop Intelligence?

  • SSIS used to integrate SQ Server and Oracle - Is it necessary both 32 and 64 bits Oracle Clients installed?

    Hi all,
SQL Server 2012 EE 64 bits (SOURCE)
        Oracle 12c 64 bits (DESTINATION)
To make my solution - integrate SQL Server with Oracle - work, i had to install both 32 and 64 bits of the Oracle 12c Client. After that, i had to change the properties of my SSIS package to run on 32 bits only (properties > Debugging >
Run64BitRuntime set to FALSE). Before i made this change, the execution of my package was failing, but after setting Run64BitRuntime to false, the package ran successfully. Why is that?
I am thinking of unistalling the 64 bits ORacle Client from my Windows Server, but i fear that if i uninstall, my package stop working.
Any suggestions/corrections will be most appreciated.
       Thanks in advance

    Hi FabrícioPJ,
The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of a provider have the same ID. Therefore, the SSIS runtime will select the appropriate version of the provider to use. 32-bit SSIS Designer always requires and uses the 32-bit version of a provider at design time. However
when running the package in 64-bit mode that the Run64BitRuntime project property is True, it automatically switches to the 64-bit version of the provider. When it couldn’t find 64-bit version of the provider, the package would be failed. For more details,
    please see:
    http://dougbert.com/blog/post/64-bit-considerations-for-sql-server-integration-services-final.aspx
So in your scenario, it seems that there is not a 64 bit provider for Oracle in your environment, so the issue occurs. Please make sure you have installed the correct 64-bit version of the Oracle provider.

  • Fresh Install 10.1.3.4 - Windows Server 2003 x64; - Oracle Client question

    Hi,
as preparation for a server migration I have been going through all of the steps to perform a fresh install of OBIEE.
I have worked through the 'Quick Installation Guide', but referring to the full Install and Configuration Guide, but I have come up to an area where I need clarification please....
After using the SAACCT.Oracle.sql script I am now at the step; -
"Using the Oracle Net Configuration tool, create an Oracle Service to the current S_NQ_SCHED database....."
At which point I realised - following through the Quick Installation guide to the letter - I had not installed the Oracle Client Software....
    My questions are; -
    1. Is the Oracle Client a pre-req which is an 'unwritten' requirement for install of OBIEE - if not how do you create an oracle service to the S_NQ_SCHED database?
    2. The full guide says 'IF' (hence the reason I ask the above) you install an Oracle Client alongside the OBIEE software then you must do it first as it can change java versions - I haven't - do I have to scrap my entire install or is there a 'fix' for putting the client on after the event
    3. The guide points me at the 'System Requirements and Supported Platforms' document to know which clients are compatible with OBIEE - I can see nothing in the guide on this - can anyone advise please?
    thanks for your help,
    Robert.

    Hi Paul,
I am not seeing the network/tools combination of folders anywhere, nor do I have shortcuts that you describe, is the client definitely part and parcel of the 10.1.3.4 install - can you give me one specific executable to search for - preferably the Net Configuration Assistant?
    thanks again,
    Robert.

I have Linux OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5 (Tikanga) over 64 Bit and trying to install Oracle client 10.2.1, I downloaded it from
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10201linx8664soft-092456.html
I am doing silent install and getting error
    Using paramFile: /u01/app/oracle/staging/client/install/oraparam.ini
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2

can someone let me know that 10.2.1 is compatible with RH5.5 or I need to download software from someplace else.

@Paul M - I followed that metalink note and make changes to oraparam.ini file and add redhat-5 but getting warning messages after install like
The installation of Oracle Client was successful, but some optional configuration assistants failed, were cancelled or skipped
@Aman - I am going to go with 11g client for RH 5.5
    Thanks guys...

  • SqlPlus always crash after Oracle Client 8 installation

    Hi
I have installed Oracle 9 client to connect to a Oracle 7 server
The connection test seems to be good, but after installation SqlPlus always crash, in the event viewer i can see that sqlplusw.exe generate an error in oracommon9.dll.
Can I connect by ado.net to oracle server without oracle client?
    Thanks in advance
    Giorgio

    Hi,
In regards of metalink note 207303.1, a client 9i which connect to a version 7 database was never been supported, there are too many known problems without workaround either patches.
