Installing Blu Ray to TV issue

I am trying to install my Insignia wireless Blu Ray DVD player to my Insignia without any luck. When trying to setup the DVD player, according to instructions, I cannot get into the settings menu on the player screen.
To further exasperate me, my TV remote cannot find the DVD player code. I have used the appropriate code and did the scan. The remote I am using is the one provided by my internet provider, Verizon FIOS.
I can turn on and off the DVD player with the Insignia provided remote but that is all. And I do see that the DVD player is seeing the internet connection.
I am using an HDMI cable from the DVD player to the TV and a Cat 5e cable from the DVD player to the FIOS router.
Can someone help me please? Or is this a phone call to the Geek Squad?
Thanks in advance,
Duke

Solved!
Go to Solution.

I ended up calling tech support and he walked me thru the steps to get things setup correctly. Seems that the user guide was vague. Needed to use the original TV remote, select input button and then select HDMI 2. Then I could check my settings on the TV screen. Once I explained the setup to the techie, it took only a few minutes of troubleshooting and testing a DVD etc etc.
Thank you though for your assistance. I appreciate that.

  • Blu-Ray player installation issue: missing VBScript

    Hi folks!
After downloading bluray driver as recommended by Toshiba notifier, i have trouble installing it.
After I have run installation, I receive 2 windows with following notifications:
1, First: Cant find script engine VBScript for script ..... TC3052100B.temp\preinstBDV.vbs
(where TC3052100B.temp referds to the bluray driver itself if i undersand correctly)
    2. and after the above window is closed, the following appears:
Cant find script engine VBScript for script ..... TC3052100B.temp\BDPlayerSetup_Patch.vbs
I already deleted the old driver and don't have any restore point....
All rest of the operations run smoothly...
But how to handle this situation????
And i want my disk drive to function...
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Kaspars

    > After downloading bluray driver as recommended by Toshiba notifier, i have trouble installing it.
Toshiba notifier? You mean Toshiba Tempro software
I have no idea what notebook model you have and if your notebook was equipped with an Toshiba Bluray drive but I guess you get this error appears because your notebook isnt blu-ray capable and the Toshiba Blu-ray player isnt preinstalled.
The point why you got this notification is simple: there are different notebooks with different hardware configurations. But the Toshiba tempro does not recognize if your notebook needs this software. Tempro shows you the drivers/tools/utilities which were released for the whole notebook series and were uploaded to the Toshiba driver page.

  • Encore CS5 Blu-Ray Preview Playback Issues / Authoring Issues

    Hello,
    I'm using Adobe Encore CS5 on a Mac Pro (Nehalem) 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon w/ 8 GB Ram on Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I've recently upgraded to CS5 after having no luck using CS3 to make Blu-Ray discs.  So far my experience has been a little disappointing -- it feels like they still haven't got it right.  Below is a list of my issues thus far -- perhaps some of you have run into similar things:
    - When importing MATROX encoded H.264 Blu-Ray files Encore CS5 hangs up.  I tried this with a 54 minute encoded file.  Instead I re-transcoded using the CS5 Media Encoder to the Main Concept H.264.  This worked fine, although the import still hung up for several minutes before anything made it's way into the project.
    - When I try opening my already existing project with a 54 minute video inside it hangs up and takes as long as 3-5 minutes to finally open successfully.  This seems to happen consistently.
    - After rendering motion menus and rendering them in the project the playback preview stutters.  It's very steppy throughout as the video plays in the background.  I even tried authoring a disc and playing it in a Blu-Ray player -- it did the same thing once authored.  I've tried re-encoding the video in Media Encoder and have found the problem persists.  Has anyone else experienced this with motion menus?  By the way, I'm transcoding @ 25mbps (max 30mbps) in the Media Encoder.
    - While trying to re-author my Blu-Ray the playback preview does not play audio on the main video when I click to play it.  I've tried re-importing the asset and previewing but this does not work.  I'm going to re-author the disc anyway to see if it plays right on the disc but can't understand why the preview doesn't work even if the Blu-Ray itself is fine (which it is).  I should add that the first time I authored this disc the audio was fine on the main video.  Preview was also fine.  So I'm not sure what's happening now - I haven't changed anything in the project.
    - Portions of my video on the authored video play back with slight stutter even though the source video (ProRes HQ QuickTime) does not.  Is this a problem with the Main Concept H.264 encode?  Should I try a 2-pass VBR transcode as another try (instead of 1-pass)?  My target bit rate is 25 mbps (with a max of 30 mbps).  That shouldn't be too high for a player to handle without stutter.  The stutter also happens in the same place every time so it makes me think it's the encode of the file itself that's the problem.
All in all these are mainly quirks about Encore that have begun to add up and frustrate me as a user.  It would be nice if these things just worked as they should.  But if anyone has ideas or can think of something I might be missing in all of this that would be great to hear.
    Thanks for reading.
    All the best,
    JD

As a follow up, I tried knocking down the number of chapters by 1/3 so there would be a total of 28 chapters instead of 41. As it turns out, the disc is still exiting the timeline and returning to the main menu at exactly the same point (which happens to be one second into a particular chapter of the timeline, just shy of 90 minutes into the timeline). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two timelines.
If it's of any help understanding what's happening, the entire timeline is 02;05;23;21 long. When Encore creates the Blu-ray disc, playback of the timeline ends at approximately 01;26;43;10. I then have to go to my Scenes menu and pick up where I left off as it's the only way to see the last ~39 minutes of the sequence.
As I mentioned, if I burn this as a standard definition (4.7GB) disc, it plays normally with no breaks. It's only if I burn it to a 25GB single-layer Blu-ray disc that I see the problem (using multiple Blu-ray players).
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this problem.

  • Mac Pro 2008 Install Blu-Ray Internal ODD Port?

Hello everything together I has the LG GGW h 20 L Blu Ray and would like the burner to internal port to attach, but that unfortunately cannot be done. Toast detects the burner however it can only CDs and DVDs burning and no Blu-Ray, I have myself an PCI x Card bought with the SIL 3132 chip record, but
this does not want to function so correctly. What can I make? Greeting
    from Frankfurt
My System Mac Pro 2008 2x2,8 2 TB HD end 16 GB Ram

The PCI card might be causing your issues. There are 2 SATA ports on the Mac Pro's motherboard that you can attach the drive to, but it can be tricky trying to reach them. Also, make sure you have the latest version of Toast. The minimum requirement is version 8, but version 9 is recommended.

  • WRT54GS - WRE54G - LG Blue Ray BD-390 Issues

Ok... So finally after about 10 hours of messing with the WRE i finally got it to connect to my network.
I'm currently having issues connecting my BD-390.
After 4-5 calls with linksys and 2 calls to LG, they both keep telling me to call each other.
Well, i finally got my WRE54G to link with my WRT54GS.
I cannot ping into the WRE but i have all the ssid settings and ip settings to match, but whenever i try to connect to it with my iphone, laptop, or LG Blue Ray player, i cannot pickup a IP address from it or my router. (I know its basically like a repeater, so its actually trying to communicate with the router to assign a ip address)
All 3 items of hardware are running the most up-to-date firmware.
Any suggestions? This is becoming a royal P.I.M.A.
    Jeff

First thing which you can try is, Turn Off the Power from the WRE.. Then you can try to connect to your Wireless Network and check if you are able to go online through the Wireless Network. If you are able to go online, then it might be the problem with the WRE....
Turn ON the Power to the WRE....and check the Light Status on WRE, Both the Lights on WRE should be Blue. On your Computer which is connected to the Router, Open the Command Prompt window and Ping WRE and check if you are getting any replies.
Whats the Distance between the WRE and the Router.

  • Install Blu ray internal burner in G5 that has an IDE set up?

    Hello,
Is it possible to install an internal SATA Blu-Ray burner into a Power Mac G5 that uses an IDE set up for its optical drive by using the current SATA and power cables that are used for the internal slave SATA drive? We would have to use longer SATA and power cables to reach the Blu-Ray drive. Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Jordan

Or easier, they make IDE to SATA converters...

  • Sony Blu Ray Player connect issue

Just added a Sony BDP S350 Blu Ray player to my network via a WGA54G.  It appears I can connect to BD Live sites but not Sony's firmware update server.  I can connect  to that server when I go wired directly through the DSL modem.  I have also tried to connect through the router and a cat line but no luck.   I use DHCP and WEP 64 bit.  Everything else is default....
    Any thoughts?

    mle724,
You need to use the same wireless security encryption on the router and adapter (either WPA2 or WEP, but not both).  If you make these changes it should work.
EDIT:  Looking at the spec for the WGA54G I see that it only supports WEP, therefore the only option would be for you to change the security on the router to WEP.
You also need to use the same passphrase (or keys) for the router and adapter.
Check page 28 (troubleshooting) of your WGA54G manual and under #1 it will show:
Make sure that the SSID is the same as the SSID of the access point.
On the WEP Encryption screen, make sure that all of the WEP settings are the same as the WEP settings of the access point.

  • Installed Blu-Ray burner in Mac Pro. Vista Bootcamp compatible?

I have a Mac compatible blu-ray burner in my Mac Pro. Will Bootcamp transfer the necessary driver for it to work in Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Anybody else have a Blu-ray burner in their Mac Pro's?

I'm waiting on delivery of my new OWC external and will strip the Pioneer out of it and jam it into the mac pro replacing the second windtubine upon receipt. I know I could have gotten the bare stand alone drive but with the case you also get the flexibilty of moving it around, cables and two 25 gig discs..all for about $100
Re the 50 gig burning question..try finding 50 g discs...

  • DVD/Blu-ray authoring, flickering issues, letterbox

    Hello friends,
I've used these forums in the past, and you have always been so helpful. Although it's been a while and the interface has changed drastically on these forums, for the worse I'm afraid, it's good to be back here learning from the masters.
I'll make these points and queastions direct and with little proxy:
    1. My film is in a 1920X1080 timeline. 422 Pro Res. 23.98fps. 16X9. Shot it on a Canon 5D Mark II. I put a widescreen 1.85.1 mask on all of the footage. When I export to quicktime and play the video on my Macbook, it plays with significant letterboxing (which is what I like). I assume it does this because my Macbook monitor is not widescreen.
But, when I use Compressor and burn a H.264 Blu-ray, and play the film on my HD TV: no letterboxing, no mask, nothing. Just boring HD video with no cinematic look. I guess this is because the tv is widescreen like the footage so the footage fits on it.
So the question lies: is there anyway to view my mask or letterbox on a DVD with a widescreen or HD TV? Without losing quality or distorting picture?
I've tried messing with every setting in Compressor, like cropping, panning, letterbox filter. None of it works. Panning seems like it compresses the video. And I can't go as far as using a 2.35.1 mask, because we stupidly didn't shoot for that originally. Anyway, I thought a 1.85 mask would be enough to show on TVs.
Another thing I tried was nesting my 16X9 sequence into a 4X3 sequence. That gave me letterboxing. But then I was stuck in 4:3 when I would try to export -- so I tried changing the sequence to Anamorphic, exporting, still stuck in 4:3. I guess if I could someone change this letterboxed 4:3 sequence back to 16X9, I will have successfully solved the problem. But perhaps I would have lost HD somehwere along the way.
Basically, I want the bars. I want the cinematic look. How do I acheieve it? So much for no proxy, huh?
    2. A supplemental question: I've got some vertical vectors in my film, like lines or doorways, bed posts... that flicker on DVD and blu-ray. I've heard using a directional blur works. 2 out of a 100. At 3 effect level, or something. That doesn't seem to fix the problem. Any other way to stop this distortion?
    3. And lastly, I've got a couple of outside shots / daylight shots that have a real just general flickering problem. I don't know why. I've tried the flicker filter in FCP, but that doesn't seem to do anything to stop the jarring flickering. Any ideas on how to rid my film of this flickering?
Thank you, in advance, for any solutions or suggestions. I am much oblidged and my skills are humbled in this forum of Final Cut knowledge.

  • Blu Ray: Smart DVD vs. Windows Media

My Touch Smart 600-1215xt, has a factory installed Blu Ray player. When I put in a Blu Ray disc (BD), Windows Media Player complains that I need to instsall a Codec. However, the HP Media Smart Player does eventually wakes up and plays the disc with no issue.
So apparently an appropriate codec is installed, but Windows Media Player just cant see/access it.
Question: Is there a trick to getting WMP to see the codec thats already installed on my system? Or, should I just continue to use the HP Media Smart Player which is part of the "HP TouchSmart Experience"?
    Thanks,
    -PH

    Hi,
Basically you are correct and will have to use Media Smart to play Blu Ray disks.  Blu ray disks come with all sorts of copy and playback control systems so it's not just having a codec available, you need software which is licensed to run it ( so the manufacturer of the software has to pay for the license ) which is why you don't find free players for Blu Ray and why Windows Media Player won't play it either.
You might speed up MediaSmart lauching the Blu Ray by setting it as the default player for this type of disk in your Default Program from Windows Control Panel.
    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes,

  • Blue screen of death when building blu-ray in Encore CS6

I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Adobe Master Collection CS6.  I purchased the laptop for video capture and editing, as well as for blu-ray authoring.
Unfortunately, although the computer and software works fine for video capture and editing, I am unable to author a blu-ray.  For authoring, I am using Adobe’s Encore CS6.  After checking and previewing my creation, I attempt to build to disc using Encore.  About 2 seconds after clicking the build disc in Encore, I get the “blue screen of death” (BSOD).  This happens every time I try to build to blu-ray (only blu-ray has this issue; I am able to build to a DVD).  I am using an external blu-ray drive on USB 3.0.
I am using Encore version 6.0.0.492

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help

  • Adding a Blu ray internal drive to a Satellite C650D-126

    Hi
has any one added a blu-ray drive to a C650D-126???
I have, but i can't get the blu-ray to work. It works as a DVD and CD but not like the blu-ray.
    Can anyone help?
My blu-ray details are HL-DT-ST BD-RE_BT10N ATA device
Need help as drivers say it is working properly
    Thanks

I think you are the first one with this question. According notebook specification this notebook model is delivered with DVD Super Multi Drive (Double Layer) only.
If I understand you right you have already new ODD inside. When you say you cannot get it work as blu ray what that means exactly? Have you installed blu ray player and tried to watch movies?

  • Blue Ray problems

Laste year i purchased a Pavillion H8-1350ea and only now for the first time am trying to play a Blue Ray disc. When I load the disc it tells me I need to update Cyberlink Power DVD but when I accept the update option it tells me there is a problem and windows closes me down.
As a silver surfer I simply dont understand what is going on. I purchased this machine pas a high spec machine that would perform simple tasks such as playing a blue ray without any issues.
As cyberlink was a preinstalled programme I am assuming that this should be the designated Blue Ray player.
Can anyone please point me down the right track
    Thanks in anticipation

BH was responding just as I was preparing my response.  If the update he gave you works, then it would be a better choice than the link I gave because the retail version of Cyberlink will cost you money.  Assuming the HP version can get the updated data needed to run the newer BluRays, it will work for awhile.  I suspect it will eventually require a paid update too.
As far as the sound, it sound play through speakers.  The DVI cable is necessary for BluRay playback as VGA does not support the HD specs.  However, if the HDMI cable is used, then sound should be delivered via that to a TV.
If there are other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD software and major Blu-ray issues

In September 2010, I bought an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 250-f desktop computer (running Windows 7). This computer was advertised as having a Blu-ray DVD player, as well as players for regular DVDs and CDs. From September 2010 to October 2014, I successfully played regular DVDs and CDs. But in October 2014, for the first time, I needed to view a Blu-ray DVD. Specifically, I needed to view the "Divergent" Blu-ray.
When I tried to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray (which was made in 2014), the HP MediaSmart DVD software (version 3.1.1.3317) and the Windows Media Player detected the Blu-ray but were not able to play the Blu-ray.
Next, I downloaded the Media Player Codec Pack, http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html. This Codec Pack was supposed to help Windows Media Player play the Blu-ray. That did not work.
I then downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD 14, which played the Blu-ray for only about 7 seconds before crashing.
I downloaded TotalMedia Theatre version 6.0.1.123. However, this software did not even detect the Blu-ray.
Recently, I decided to revisit this issue. I installed the most advanced version of HP MediaSmart DVD. I installed HP TouchSmart DVD, version 4.1.2.5122.
TouchSmart flawlessly played disk 1 of the 2-disk "Star Trek" Blu-ray set (made in 2009). However, TouchSmart was not able to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray at all. After failing to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray, TouchSmart attempted to play disk 2 of the "Star Trek" Blu-ray set. TouchSmart played disk 2 with poor video.
Next, for some strange reason, TouchSmart became totally inaccessible. I could not start TouchSmart. I rebooted the computer. TouchSmart was then able to play the "Divergent" regular DVD, but was unable to play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays at all.
I did a system restore to the point just after the installation of TouchSmart. TouchSmart played regular DVDs well, but still could not play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays at all.
Next, I got rid of TouchSmart and installed HP MediaSmart DVD, version 4.1.4229 (sp49489.exe). MediaSmart 4.1.4229 flawlessly played the "Speed" Blu-ray (made in 2006). However, MediaSmart 4.1.4229 failed to play either of the "Star Trek" Blu-rays. And after failing to play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays, MediaSmart 4.1.4229 played "Speed" with poor video.
So, it appears that any specific version of HP MediaSmart DVD software will play old Blu-rays successfully, and will then subsequently fail to play more advanced, more recent Blu-rays. After that version fails to play the more advanced Blu-rays, that version will play the old Blu-rays, not as flawlessly as before, but rather with poor video quality or not at all.
I have read many threads on the HP forums and on other forums about people having trouble playing Blu-ray DVDs on a wide variety of HP computers. I went back to the specifications of my HP computer, and I found the following disclaimer about that computer's Blu-ray capabilities:
As Blu-Ray is a new format containing new technologies, certain disc, digital connection, compatibility and/or performance issues may arise, and do not constitute defects in the product. Flawless playback on all systems is not guaranteed. In order for some Blu-ray titles to play, they may require a DVI or HDMI digital connection and your display may require HDCP support. HD-DVD movies cannot be played on this Desktop PC. Some HD DVD and Blu-ray advanced features may not be supported. CPU power is dedicated to support HD DVD and Blu-ray playback functions. It is recommended that you close all other applications before and during HD DVD and Blu-ray playback. HD DVD and Blu-ray movies will only play through the HD DVD and Blu-ray player software. Advanced Access Content System (AACS) keys are integrated into your PC for copy protection purposes. Occasional renewal of the AACS key is required, and easily done by connecting to the internet.
I believe that I have gone way above and beyond ordinary diligence, to try to get my computer to play Blu-ray DVDs. The disclaimer states that certain issues may arise and that flawless Blu-ray playback is not guaranteed for all systems. But certainly my frustrating experiences, and the frustrating experiences of others, go way beyond the leeway given by HP's disclaimer, do they not? Has anyone thought about the possibility of a class-action lawsuit against HP?

In "Device Manager", under "DVD/CD-ROM drives", I see the following:
    hp BDDVDRW CH20L
I click on "hp BDDVDRW CH20L", and I see several tabs.
In the tab marked "Driver", we have the following:
    Driver Provider:   Microsoft
    Driver Date:           6/21/2006
    Driver Version:     6.1.7601.17514
    Digital Signer:      Microsoft Windows
In that same tab, clicking on "Driver Details" gives us the following:
    Driver files:      C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys
    Provider:           Microsoft Corporation
    File version:    6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255)
Copyright:       Microsoft Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
    Digital Signer:   Microsoft Windows
I think that, back in October 2014, when this Blu-ray issue first came up, I updated the driver. That may be why you see the following different versions :
    6.1.7601.17514
    6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255)
So, how would I update the firmware? To what version should I update the firmware?

  • E3000 Bizarre Issue... WIRED Blu-Ray Player Causes WiFi To Be Disabled

I have had numerous issues with my E3000 since I got about two months ago and they have all been resolved with the exception of this new one that popped up today.
My Samsung Blu-ray player is connected firectly via ethernet cable to the router.  When it's on, I lose all conenctivity to the router with my wireless devices including three PC's, a PS3, two iPhones, one iPad, one Samsung Smart TV, one XBOX 360 and an Onkyo Receiver.  When I say that I lose connectivity, I don't mean that I lose access to the Internet.  My PC's see the network but cannot connect to it, the same goes for the Apple devices.  The moment I shut off the Samsung BD player it kicks right back on and works normally.  Until today, this never occurred.
I contacted Tech Support and they had never heard of this happening before.  They suggested that I change the ethernet cable which I did while the unit was on and it worked until I turned the BD player off and turned it back on again.  I also tried switching ports to no avail.  Alos all of the software is up to date on both the router and the BD player.
Does anyone have any ideas about this?  I'm going to call Tech Support back on this again but I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone else has had this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well, try the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
4] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
