Installing Client in Novell Environment

We have Windows 7 boxes that have a novell cleint and ZEN on them.  We are looking to deploy SCCM on them and then switch to AD and remove ZEN.  Currently the Win 7 box can ping the SCCM address but cannot resolve the name.  How do I get the
SCCM 2012 R2 Client installed on the Win 7 boxes (I understand it will be a manual install).  Not sure of the switches.
Thanks

Your clients will need to resolve the SCCM servers...
I moved from ZEN7 to SCCM. If using the ZEN7 client, be aware of a possible issue with "WMGRPPOL.DLL". Since we switched over to AD GPOs, I deleted the dll (from ZEN) which conflicts with AD scripts. For some reason, only one AD script (from GPOs)
would run. After deleting the DLL, all AD GPO scripts run. We had the ZEN client, Novell client and SCCM client running at the same time.
There are many ways to deploy the SCCM client agent (WSUS, GPO, manually triggered via the admin console, manual command / script, using ZEN, etc.)...
I run it via a GPO script, to ensure that all systems that login to AD have the client. It's a personal preference...
E.g. A GPO that that runs a script (batch, vbs, powershell):
\\MY_SHARE\ccmsetup.exe SMSSITECODE=MY_SITE FSP=MY_FSP.my_domain SMSCACHESIZE=20480
Replace the parameter values with your own... FSP is nice to see client install failures for systems that are not yet connected to SCCM.

  • Cisco ASA 5505, Cisco VPN Client and Novell Netware

    Hi,
Our ISP have installed Cisco ASA 5505 firewall. We are trying to connect to our Novell 5.1 server using VPN client.
I installed VPN client on a laptop that is using wireless connection. I connect using wireless signal from near by hotel and I am able to connect to my firewall usinging vpn client and also able to login in using Novell client for XP.
When I use same vpn client and Novell client at home that is not using wireless connection, but DSL connection amd not able to login or find the tree.
The only difference in two machine is laptop using wireless connection and my home machine is using wired connection using DSL.

If your remote end of the services in question support IPsec IKEv1 as the VPN type then, yes - the 5505 can be a client for that service. At that point it looks like a regular LAN-LAN VPN which is documented in many Cisco and 3rd party how-to documents.

  • Best practice to run Microsoft Endpoint Protection client in VDI environment

We are using Citrix XenDesktop VDI environment. Symantec Endpoint Protection client (VDI performance optimised) has been installed on the “streamed to the clients” virtual machine image. Basically, all the files (in golden image) have been “tattooed” with
Symantec signature. Now, when the new VM starts, Symantec scan engine simply ignores “tattooed” files and also randomise scan times. This is a rough explanations but I hope you’ve got the idea.
We are switching from Symantec to Microsoft Endpoint Protection and I’m looking for any information and documentation in regards best practice for running Microsoft Endpoint Protection clients in VDI environment.
     Thanks in advance.

I see this post is a bt old but the organization I'm with has a very large VDI deployment using VMware. We also are using SCEP 2012 for the AV.
Did you find out what you were looking for or did you elect to take a different direction?
We install SCEP 2012 into the base image and manage the settings using GPO and the updates for defs are through the normal route.
Our biggest challenge is getting alert message from the client.
    Thanks

  • Can't install client on one computer

This is a new Lenovo ThinkPad with Windows 8.1 Professional. Our SCCM 2012R2 has successfully installed clients on hundreds of our computers. It doesn't work on this one. Also, manual installation fails. the push client installation always creates this
    error message, immediately:
    Summary of client push installation
    Resource ID: 2097152820
    Object name: LT008806
    Include domain controllers: No
Always install (repair or upgrade existing client): No
Force uninstall and reinstall Configuration Manager client: No
Total resources selected to install the Configuration Manager client:  1
Summary of client push installation resources
Resources to be installed from site <UCH>: 1
     Error: Exception
    Errors
The machine name for Resource ID '2097152820' cannot be retrieved from the database.
Running manual installation at the client always fails also.
Here is a partial log file for manual installation (a few initial log entries included, and then I jumped to the first "failed" message):

That was it!  It was a strange mix-up of accounts, where I was logging on with a "Microsoft" account that had the same name as an "organizational" domain account.  When I was logged on with the Microsoft account, I couldn't
install the software.  When I logged on with the domain account, I could.  Thanks!!!

  • I keep getting this pop up.To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. How can I get rid of it?

I keep getting this pop up - To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. How do I get rid of it.

Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • Issue installing Client 9.2.0.1

Oracle rookie here having an issue installing Client 9.2.0.1....
I've installed the client software on a few machines without any issue. Now, I am installing it on the passive node of a cluster (cluster is running SQL Server 2000) and there is a problem. The install was successful once, until I noticed it installed under D:\oracle\ora92. I needed to install it on C, because that's where I installed it on the active node. However, when I run the installer (C:\9.2.0.1 Client\autorun\autorun.exe), it does not allow me to change the path or the name. If I change the Path to be be C:\oracle\ora92, the name (OraName92, in this case) goes away. If I retype OraName92 in the name box, the path goes back to D:\oracle\ora92.
I tried altering some ini files and that didn't work. I searched the registry and there are tons of references to the old install paths, but even changing some registry settings (specifically, HKLM\Software\Oracle\ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_HOME_NAME) did not work. I didn't touch any other keys, but I did back up the registry.
Anyone have any thoughts on how I can get this installed on C? Thanks...
    Peter

Just for giggles, I tried altering the following registry key:
    HKLM\Software\Oracle\ALL_HOMES\ID0\Path
The value used to be D:\oracle\ora92, and I changed it to C:\oracle\ora92. When I start the installer program, it picks it up as the value for OraHome92. I have nothing to lose by trying this, but my only question would be, will the installer overwrite the existing keys in the registry? I'm hoping that's what it will do, because I don't want any stray references to D:\oracle\ora92 lying around.
If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know. Thanks for all your help!
    Peter

  • SCCM Collection with IE9 Installed Clients

    Hello ,
I would like to create a Collection on SCCM with all IE9 Clients . Because some clients downloaded and install the stand alone version of IE9 and others get the IE9 from our WSUS ,
i cant count the exact number of IE9 installed clients . i have tried a lot of queries but i didnt get the right results except from the computers which installed and registered the IE9 on Add/Remove Programs .
The query for the collection is :
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS on SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceID
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.Publisher = "Microsoft Corporation" and SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName = "Internet Explorer" and SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.Version like "9"
That query doesnt return all the computers with the Intenet Explorer 9 installed , just only the computers with stand alone installation .
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks a lot
    D.S.

Are you able to see any details of installed softwares and add remove program details in Resource explorer in SCCM console?

    Sure ,  I can .
Have you seen the note provided in the above post?
Notes: To find the clients that have not yet installed IE 9, simply change "like" to "not like" when checking the file verison number. Also, if you see oddities in the memberships, keep in mind that this is based off of the .EXEs
polled and listed in the SCCM database, so when in doubt, use Resource Explorer within the ConfigMgr console to see if the "iexplore.exe" file has been inventoried.

  • HT202912 I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" Do I need two versions as this article suggests?

I just upgraded to Yosemite on my 2010 MacBook Pro.  When I reboot I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" and I've also seen the same pop-up once while running OpenOffice.  And now while composing this post.
Yes - I followed the link and installed the Oracle version of Java, version 8, and the test page confirms that I have the current version running.
I read some threads on discussions.apple.com but didn't like the answers.
    I found this:  http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/advanced-tips-for-mac-os-x-yosemit e-3582877/

What is the best way to install client for all computer
Note that sccm 2012(1 primary site and 4 site system server every server (4 roles (management point  , Distribution Point  , site system , component server  ) ))
and in boundaries i create boundaries but not for all branch and enable (boundary group for site assignment ) for every group
What is the best way to install client for all computer
    thank u

You basically have 3 options, if you disregard a manual install.
    1. Client Push. Configure an account with local admin rights on the clients, and enable Site-Wide pushing of client.
    2. GPO. Import the GPO templates and enable the client to be installed that way
    3. Startup script.
Of the 3, I usually go with a combination of client push and GPO.
Take a look at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712298.aspx for the complete documentation.

SAP documents say explicitely that you may "Create separate TDMS client in development environment"
But after reading SAP TDMS master guide, I realize that it  is no so simple
"With SAP TDMS, you transfer the required parts of the client-dependent data from the sender
system to the receiver system. For this to work properly, it is very important that the receiver
system has the same data dictionary (DDIC) and cross-client customizing as the sender
    system." page 17 Master guide
By definition, Production and Developemt systems do not have the same DDIC.
I mean that it could take several weeks/months before that newly developed objects (including DDIC) are transported to production.
Saying that, how is it possible to to create TDMS clients in DEV system, when DEV system is not synchonized with the production system ?
    Thank you for your responses.
    Regards

There are two aspects to your question -
Aspect 1: Currently the repository on your dev. system is not in sync with the repository on your production system and You want to synchronize the repository on the development system, in this case you may use the TDMS Shell process to do a lean system copy from production to development which will copy the repository and cross client data from prod. to dev.
Aspect 2: Currently the repository on your dev. system is not in sync with the repository on your production system and You are not in a position to synchronize the repository on the development system, in this case you may still go ahead and execute TDMS with the limitation that for all the tables which have differences in definition in the two system the data transfer may not be complete or in worst case you may have to skip data transfer of some tables (tables for which the definition is significantly different in two systems). TDMS does provides you the option to do the same.
    I hope this info helps.
