Installing Developer 6i on Linux

Hi! I'm having problems to install Developer 6i on Linux. I'm using windowmaker.
I follow the instructions from installation guide, but I don't know how do I do to execute the installation program.
I windows' installations exist commonly a SETUP.exe or ORAINST.exe program. But in Linux I don't found these programs.

I have tried to start installer developer 6i on linux with orainst/orainst. But it didn't work. the message is "bad interpreter: No such file or directory".
What should i do to start the installer? based on manual installation, it should be easy. But why it failed?

  • Error while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0

    Hi All,
This error appears while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
    http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=errorso9.png

Try locate (using find command for example) the libjvm.so file (I assume that is located somewhere under $ORACLE_HOME (probably jdk or jre directory)). If you locate the path where this library resides, try to add that path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable.
Use copy&paste method (for error message) rather than link to image.
It is much quicker operation and it may help to other people because they be able to find this thread via search engine.

I found the best way to handle using the program between networked computers is to use extension arguments.
    Simply.
Install the program as administrator BUT do not let it start when installed.
Then edit the properties of the desktop icon so that it has properties so that you run firefox with command line arguments (www.kb.mozillazine.org/command_line_arguments)
Thus if your desktop icon on each Pc is firefox.exe -profile "h:\firefox\profile"
Firefox when started with this desktop icon will always use the profile on the server drive H
Once this is completed you can run the program and it will create the profile in the selected drive location.
if you delete the profile it will create another in the same location.
This also works for Mozilla Thunderbird.
Hope this helps anyone that had the same problem as me.

  • How to install Developer in Linux.

    Hi,
I am trying to install Developer on Redhat Linux 7.1. During the installation it asks for the directory where the Motif directory where the libXm.a file is present. But there is no such file in the Motif directory or anywhere else.
However there are certain files starting with libXmu.
Can someone guide me on how to go about it ?
    Regards.

    Santosh.
I have the exact same issue. Apparently Motif is not packaged with Redhat and or not installed. Search for PRashanth Machaiah and look at a query I posted about a week or so ago. Some very nice person wrote out exact instructions on how to get it going. I am going to try it today.
If you have sucess please let me know.

  • Installing Forms Developer 6i on Linux

When I try to install Forms Developer (Server) 6i, I get an error that a file is missing, libXm.so.2. It seems to be connected to the Motif library that the installer asked for, but the server doesn't have Motif. Is it a requirement to install Developer?
Also, if I try to install it and select Create Database Objects, I don't get that error, but I get another one that goes like this:
'rdbms' software is not available in the current distribution source and has not been installed. You must obtain and install 'rdbms' software from some other source first. Note: You may also get this error if the Installer registry file has been overwritten.
    Can anyone help me?

    Hi,
Intalling developer 6i in Linux is not difficult, but I bet that you won't be much impressed by the graphics. Download the software, extract it and then run ./runInstaller from user Oracle (after giving it permissions), and thats it.

But as the XE database is also available for ubuntu, with explanations for installation http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/install/xe-on-kubuntu.html I want to do the same with forms builder.
Is there a tutorial for that ? is it even possible?

  • Installing Oracle Forms on Linux

    Dear all,
I'm trying to install Oracle Forms but stumbling upon its perquisites. My machine is Linux Slackware 13.0 64 and I've been trying to install Developer Suite but it failed since my Linux version is not supported.
    My question is:
    1. Can I modify (or cheat on) Universal Installer setup so that it let me install on Slackware?
    2. I also looked at Fusion Middleware requirements and it also supports only Linux Oracle, Suse, or Redhat. Is there any workaround to install the software without changing my OS?
    Best regards,
    Val

You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
when it happened the reports environment did not start.
From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
    for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
you can select just the following:
    - Oracle Forms
    - Oracle Reports
    - Developer Tools aan.
    - Management Components
    - Oracle HTTP Server
    and deselect the other options:
    - Oracle Portal
    - Oracle Discoverer
    - Oracle WebCache
    - Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
    - (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
    - Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

    Hello Dimitri,
Could you please check that :
    1. You have jdk/bin directory in your system path. (Try with jdk1.3/bin)
    2. You have enough space on your harddisk to install.
    export IATEMPDIR=tmpdirname
where the tmpdirname is the absolute path. Make sure the path you have
indicated has enough disk space (76 MB).
    3. You are not using a username greater than 8 characters
    4. You may need to look at updating your Operating system.
Please see below that may related to your problem.

  • Can't install d2k6ir2 products on Linux

This download includes about 17 different products. I'm trying to install only Forms Server/Developer, Unix Installer and PL/SQL Procedure Builder at this time. I've studied the included documentation, set every environment variable there is and tried running ./orainst both with and without the create DB objects options. But the installation process never completes. What it does do is cause a Segmentation Fault. My RH 7.0 Linux OS stops it at this point and greets me with a core dump. This always appears to take place while "Loading ORACLE Common Utilities Executables..."
Come on -- I know there's somebody out there that has installed these products on Linux.

It's probably not supported on RHEL5/Centos5/etc., but...
You can get the installer to function using the following steps:
    - extract the cal_linux_*.tar.gz, and cd into the OracleCalendar_inst directory
In there is the actual installer, cal_linux.
    - the cal_linux is shell script wrapped around some binary blobs. The installer's
problem is that Oracle is setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 environment
variable, which is a mistake on RHEL5. You need to make it not set that variable,
but you need to do so in a way that the size of the shell script does not change at all,
and none of the binary blobs are impacted.
    - the approach I took was
    mv cal_linux cal_linux.BAK
    sed -e 's/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= /g' < cal_linux.BAK > cal_linux
    chmod a+rx cal_linux
    cal_linux -i gui
Note: you must have exactly 5 spaces in the substitution part of the sed command, because you're replacing 5 characters (2.2.5), and the size of the shell script must not change.
If you do that, the installer should run (one warning from awk still) and you should be able to install the product.

pacman -S base-devel && pacman -Suy should give you everything you need, except specific dependencies.
Ahh  that what I get for posting without refreshing OP.

  • How to install Developer Suite 6i on Cent OS

i need oracle developer suite 6i to run graphics on oracle application server but i cannot install devsuite6i.
i downloaded d2k6irelease2.tar from oracle site. help me to install it on CentOS
    i tried:
    1. extract .tar into folder
    2. yum install FolderName
    [root@ServerName DevSuite6i]# yum install DevSuite6i
    Setting up Install Process
    Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
    Parsing package install arguments
    No Match for argument: graphics60/
    Nothing to do

    Hi,
Intalling developer 6i in Linux is not difficult, but I bet that you won't be much impressed by the graphics. Download the software, extract it and then run ./runInstaller from user Oracle (after giving it permissions), and thats it.

  • Cannot install oracle vpn on linux getting error kernel-sourcecode is neede

cannot install oracle vpn on linux getting error kernel-sourcecode is needed by gds_cisco_vpn_client-2.0-llrhel4.i386.. i already installed kernel-devel still it get the same error. pls help.

    1. kernel (.rpm)
    2. kernel-devel (.rpm) - containing only Makefiles and some kernel header files
    3. kernel source rpm (src.rpm) - source for rebuilding the kernel
    4. kernel-sourcecode (.rpm) - source-tree for developing custom kernels
    are four different packages.
If you are running OEL-4 (2.6.9 kernel) and you have an ULN account, you can download kernel-sourcecode rpm from ULN. There is no kernel-sourcecode for OEL-5 available on ULN site.

You must compile a form under Linux.
To do that, you must have Developer/Server for Linux. After installing it, in $ORACLE_HOME/bin there will be a compiler - f60genm

  • How do i install labview application on linux?

    Hello,
I have a small application that i built using Labview 7.1 for windows. I have been using this application on windows xp.
All the application does is, get an array of numbers from a file, calculate the min, max and average, and display the result in a simple 2D graph.
Now i'm in the process of switching OS from xp to Redhat Linux. Would i be able to use this same application in Linux without any modification? if so, how do i install the application on Linux? if not possible, what changes do i need to make to get it work on Linux?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

The platform indepedence is in the way the LV code is represented. You can open a VI you wrote in LV on windows in LV for Linux or Mac and it will work. The compiler embedded in the development environment turns the VI into platform-specific executable code in the same way that a C compiler would. The problem is that actual executable code is not transferable between OSes because they simply won't know how to execute it, just as it wouldn't work with a C built application.
If you don't want to buy LV for Linux you can try running a Windows emulator (like WINE) which might allow you to run your windows executable. Another option is to try contacting NI. They might decide to let you change your license from Windows to Linux. You should also consider that platform specific functions (like ActiveX) are not supported and that certain toolkits were only written for windows.
Try to take over the world!
