Installing Elements 3.0 in Windows 8

Hi there
A friend of mine has given me her Photoshop Elements 3.0 to try out to see how i like photoshop.
I have Windows 8, 32bit, and when I go to install it, it goes through the compatability part, and then says: (Header) Adobe Reader 6.0.1 Installer Information. (Body of text) Setup has detected that  you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate.
When I ran the compatibility part, it said I have Adobe Reader 7. However in my Control Panel it says I have Adobe Reader X (10.1.10) MUI and Flashplayer Plug in 14.
When I go into the Windows Troubeshooter and find the compatibility part, it wont come up with the Elements program.

Photoshop elements 3 is pretty outdated anyway, so you should try the trial version of photoshop elements 12 to see how you like it.
The trial of photoshop elements 12 is good for 30 days, fully functional and if you decide to buy, you just enter the serial number in the already installed trial version.

My new computer with Windows 7 says it is incompatible with my Elements 4.0. How do I fix this?

    Hi Tubronce,
You are trying to install a very old version of Photoshop Elements on the latest Windows OS. You can either use your product on a computer with an older supported OS or upgrade your Photoshop Elements to the latest version (10.0).

I am trying to install Photoshop Elements on my new Windows 8 computer (I recently upgraded my windows 7 computer where Photoshop was working fine on before).  It says the serial number is invalid.  Do older versionsnot work on Windows8, or do I need to uninstall it from my old computer first?

You are allowed to have two activated installations.  If you happened to have one on this Windows 8 machine before, it is possible that the activation used for it was never deactivated (did you deactivate it before you upgraded Windows?).  Talk to Adobe support thru chat.  They might be able to resolve this with you:

  • Installing Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Windows 7 64-bit

Yes it's an old version but it will work on Win7 64-bit SP3, and it isn't feature-neutered and UX-impaired like subsequent versions of Photoshop Elements.
Yes copy the Photoshop directory (the one with setup.exe) from install disc to your desktop.  But before doing anything else, do this:
Make sure Internet Explorer is turned off under Control Panel:Programs:Programs and Features:Turn Windows Features On/Off  (use Chrome or FF instead - you know why)
If it's enabled turn off IIS as well.
Voila: Elements 2.0 installs and runs great on Win7 64-bit.  In fact it runs screamin' fast, especially with > = 4GB of memory.

Can I run Elements 2.0 on windows 8.1?

  • Windows 7 Clean Install Elements 7 Install

I am going to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 with a clean install.
I will have a backup of my hard drive.
After I do the clean install of Windows 7 and install Elements 7 how do I get Elements 7 back to the way it was in Vista. I am particularly concerned about restoring all the Elements 7 tags.
    Thanks,
    Bob

If your photos reside on the C drive only, and you put your photos and catalog folder back to the same exact locations they had on your Vista system, then PSE 7 should be able to open the catalog just fine.   Do Help > System Info in the Organizer to find the location of your catalog folder.

  • Unable to install Elements 12 on Windows 8.1

When I try to install Elements 12 on Windows 8.1, the install fails.  It says it needs DirectPlay, but according to Microsoft, that has been depricated.  I'm caught in a vicious loop trying to get Elements 12 installed on my PC.  What's up with that?

    Sandeep,
I downloaded the file, but it will not open.  It has a .dmg extension, and apparently I don't have the necessary app to unpack it.Help please.
