Installing Endeca Extension DB port XE remains default

Hi,
Installing Endeca Extension
I need to specify different port for XE database
as another DB is running on same server on port 1521
so I specified it in  EidDefault.properties
more EidDefault.properties|grep XE
ENDECA_DB_URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@(correctserver):1531:XE
ORACLE_SID=XE
Database XE starts up but in port 1521.
tnsnames.ora under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
# tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File:
XE =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
Is it possible to change it previous to continue with installings steps?
Thanks in advance.
Laura

I was able to connect to DB XE using : sqlplus <user>
but it failed with sqlplus <user>@XE
so, I created listener2 (listener already exists )
I also run:
alter system set LOCAL_LISTENER="(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1531))";
alter system register;
Then I stop and start the listener
and sqlplus <user>@XE works.

Laura

    Hi Laura,
This forum is dedicated to Oracle Endeca Commerce.  Please see the following post regarding the correct forum for Oracle Endeca Information Discovery questions.  It looks like it was mistakenly moved here by another member Oracle since the products shared the same "Endeca" term.

  • How can I install an extension when it conflicts with an existing one that doesn't appear in the list of extensions?

I'm trying to install Guide Guide for Photoshop CS 2014 using the Adobe Extension Manager CC but when clicking on the 3.1.2-guideguide.zxp I recieve the following error, "This extension cannot be installed, since it conflicts with a existing one. To install this extension, please remove the extension 'GuideGuide' which has been installed in ", then install again."  Note that there is some code breaking in there where ", is.  When I open Adobe Extension Manager CC there are no extensions listed.  None under any of the products to the left.  I can't uninstall it if it's not listed.
After reviewing the forums I have gone into my %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\ folder and removed all folders for previous versions of Adobe Extension Manager.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated.  Thank you for your time.

Please delete "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Configuration\DB\ExMan.db" then retry. Note that "C:\ProgramData" is hidden by default. You can input C:\ProgramData in the address bar of Windows Explorer then press "Enter" key to go into this folder.

I am getting an error - An error occurred while installing the extension “Lastpass”. Not just Lastpass, ANY extension I try to install. I just updated to Mavericks 10.9.1. Safari version 7.0.1. This is super frustrating. I was going to try to delete the extentions.plist and I cannot find that. I reset Safari. I tried just sropping files into the extentions folder, that doesn't work. Can someone please help?

This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked
Allow user to administer this computer
Then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

    Hi Janice,
This is actually referring to the Endeca extensions for E-Business Suite (an Oracle ERP product suite).  During my tenure at Oracle, I actually helped design the integration of the Endeca Information Discovery product for use within EBS.  Branchbird has been blogging about the offering a bit too.  http://branchbird.com/blog/category/e-business-suite/
That said, I was able to find everything I needed from the install directions (which are slightly updated from the version referenced in the post above).  Can you please use these instructions and let me know if it still isn't clear what needs to be downloaded.  You'll essentially install the OEID product (in a prep'ed integration form) by downloading the "quick install package" from edelivery.  Additionally, you'll need to install patches to EBS to get it up to the right patch level.  Then through a series of additional patches, you'll deploy the EBS changes required for the integraiton and patches specific to the "product" you're installing.
Again, all of these details are covered here.

Give this a look and let me know if it is still unclear.
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Deleted Startup disk remains default startup disk?

This one is new to me....
I have one disk with two startup partitions and a third as a "backup". I was working on the two startups partition disk and both worked fine. But recently one of the System Preference panels for Spotlight was corrupted so I did an "archive and install" on that partition. But when I did the restart after the archive and install I was unable to boot into the newly installed Leopard disk. Furthermore the machine default booted into the OTHER partition. So I tried to log into that one and the password input says I was putting in the wrong password (I was not). So I tried holding down the Option Key at startup and selected the startup disk I wanted  - again, it booted to the other and the password was somehow fubarred. So I went ahead and "dismantled" that pesky defaulting startup disk, trashing both the system and the library folders - but on reboot it STILL boots to that disk even though now it doesn't exist AT ALL. Even the name remains? ***?
I went ahead and revealled all the invisible files - trashed those. I did Option+S at start up and fsck. I used TechTool Pro to repair, I used Disk Utility and permissions... UGH.
Why is this deleted startup STILL showing up and booting off the other present startup system on the other partition (Note: If I hold down Option key at start up I can still boot into the third OS I keep). What is interesting is that everytime I reboot and check the "pesky" startup disk from the other one I see a new System folder added to that (remember, I deleted it). After the invisible files were deleted it no longer did this. But, again, still boots into a non-existent login screen.
I know the "simple" answer is to reinstall and reformat this disk - but on the other "pesky" partition I have 750GB of data I'd rather not migrate (it's in the default user's folder that I didn't delete). And I'd like to learn what the heck is going on.
Thanks for anyone's illuminating insights on the phantom startup disk.

Hi, I vaguely rember you from before, but nothing here is the same as before, as it is with OSX in general!

  • I am trying to install an extension that requires FF 4.0. I downloaded 4.0 yet the extentsion says I still have 3.6.16 when trying to install.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF several times. When I try to install the extension (that requires FF 4.0), I get a pop-up that says I am still using an older version of FF and asks if I want to upgrade. When I click on "About Firefox", it says I have 4.0. In February, I downloaded FF Beta which I understand could be a problem. I also have read that you need to manually delete Beta files which I have done. I did a system search to see if any Beta files exist and no further files were found. I just want to make sure FF 4.0 is installed and be able to install the FGS extension.

Thank you, cor-el, for your reply. I clicked on the link you provided, and it took me to Create a New Article. I'm assuming an article already exists for this. Can you instruct me on how to view this article. This is the first time I have ever had to refer to Mozilla Help. I have tried to do this on my own, but am having difficulty. Thanks for your help.

  • How can I install an extension using Extension Manager CC?

    I have a mac running OSX 10.9.4.
    I have Photoshop CC 2014.1.0 / 20140730.r.148 x64
I have Extension Manager CC 7.2.1.6
According to "Creative Cloud" manager,  my versions of software are up to date.
I tried installing three different extensions.  None of them load. When I double click on the extension file, it launches Extension Manager CC, but it appears that Extension Manager does not recognize that I have other Adobe products installed.  E.g., "Failed to install the extension 'XYZ.' Please make sure the manifest.xml of this extension is valid and the Extension Manager recognizes at least one product which the extension supports."  I get variations on this message, but the common thread seems to be "Extension Manager recognizes at least one product which the extension supports."
When I choose "Manage Extensions" from the Help menu in Photoshop, it just launches "Creative Cloud" manager, which tells me all of the software is up to date.  (The first time that I tried this, it re-installed Extension Manager CC). Nothing else happens -- e.g., it does not launch Extension Manager.
Any suggestions?  How do I get Extension Manager CC to recognize that I have Photoshop CC installed?

One more thing -- I have seen references in postings to an "Extension Panel" under the "Window" menu.  I do not see that item in Photoshop CC.  (There is "Browse Extensions Online," which allows me to find more things that I can't load).

  • IPDS install error on a port other than 389

    Hi
I need to install iPDS on a port other than 389. During installation, when I give a different port and try to install, during the post-installation phase, I get error that the configuration information could not be updated and installation fails. I'm trying with iPDS ver 5.0. What could be the problem? I had iPDS installed earlier on port 389 on the same m/c. Can that cause a problem? I had uninstalled before re-installing on the new port.
    thanx and regards
    Sikka

Make sure you use a port larger than 1024, if you are using a non-standard port.

  • Cannot Install Safari Extensions

    Greetings,
Trying to install an extension on my Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1)
An extension installed successfully, but after Safari restart its all gone.
Does not matter which extension and how many,
After install I can see extensions in Safari Preferences window, but not after a restart.
I can see newly installed extensions in ~/Library/Safari/Extensions/ folder, the folder has correct permissions and owner.
Even though there are extensions in ~/Library/Safari/Extensions/ , Safari does not "sees" it after a restart.
It seems like this problem is specific to my PC, as I have checked it with other people - they don't experience it.
    Please help !

I am an it admin and want to install an extension globally, but placing the .xpi file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins and restarting the browser does not prompt to install the plugin. I noticed that the cli tags have been depreciated so i did not give that a shot. The computers are windows 7 64 bit and firefox version is 35.
