Hi All,
Does anyone have sample code how to consume and use the Docconverter service from Adobe Livecycle 8.2 ES in Flex Builder 3.0 AIR Application. I want to consume both the methods 1) toPDFA and 2) isPDFA methods to convert a PDF to PDFA and to check the compliance after conversion. If any one could help me in this, would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance
Umashanker.KI think the problem you are experiencing is this one:
http://subclipse.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=511
You probably have Subclipse 1.2.4 installed, which is the
latest official release. But the new release based on Subversion
1.5 has been in development for over a year. It will be version
1.4.0 and probably released next week when Subversion 1.5 is
released. -
How to integrate a flex build in a web application running on jBoss 5.1
Hi,
I have two flex builds for a messaging application that I have to integrate with my web application running on Jboss 5.1 . I have tried hot deploying the builds into the default deploy folder of Jboss, but that approach doesn't seem to work(maybe because I may need to make war out of the flex builds). Can someone tell me an approach of how to accomplish this. Can I leverage BLAZEDS for this purpose.
Thanks

Flex Builder, debugger and web application: how?
Hello,
I'm traying to setup a project in eclipse with both a java
web application (servlets, jsp) and flex applications as a
frontend. So I installed flex builder as a plugin on an eclipse+web
standard tools, then created a WST web application project, and
used the "Add flex nature.." of the flex plugin. I don't want to
use the flex data services.
Now, in a standard run (I installed a tomcat 5.5 and
configured it in eclipse), my mxlm files are being correctly
compiled into swf, and they are successfully calling my servlets
(which simulates a backend xml-based interface).
I'm having problems in debug: if I launch the debug profile
related to tomcat, the normal version of the sfw will be used (even
manually switching to the "-debug" version, it says that a running
flex debugger has not be found on localhost). On the other way, if
I launch the debug as a "flex application", it seems to work (it
stops at breakpoints) but my tomcat is not started at all, the swf
is accessed as a local file and all call to my servlet will fail..
so it will stop working almost immediately.
There is a way to setup eclipse to start standard java
debugging with tomcat *and* the flex debugger?
Thanks
CosmaI found a workaround of sorts for the problem: don't
terminate the applications!
Previously, I would terminate the application using either
the Terminate button in the Debug view or by closing the tab in the
browser (Firefox). Now I just let them pile up in the browser and I
rarely see this problem.
In other words, I was having lots of trouble when doing
Launch-Terminate-Launch-Terminate... but now I just
Launch-Launch-Launch... and clean up once in a while. -
Does the Lifecycle product license include the use of Flex Builder Pro and Flex SDK?
I have been trying to find out whether we can use the latest Flex Builder and SDK using the LiveCycle license or do we need to purchase additional license? We will use these products to develop Flash Applications to use with our Livecycle product.
The end user license agreement and the supplement should provide your answer:

License migration from Flex Builder 3 to Flex Builder 4
I am ready to purchase a license for Flex Builder but am hesitant to do so. It appears that Flex Builder 3 is available now with Flex Builder 4 coming within some time period. If I buy a Flex Builder 3 license now will I be entitled to Flex Builder 4? If not, should I wait for FB 4 to become available? What is the anticipated ship date of that product?
NeilFrom our FAQ
Q: If I purchase Flex Builder 3, am I eligible for an upgrade to Flash Builder 4?
A: Adobe has not yet announced the ship date of Flash Builder 4. To be eligible for a free of charge upgrade to Flash Builder 4, you will need to purchase maintenance along with your purchase of Flex Builder. You can purchase maintenance with your Flex Builder 3 Standard purchase for an additional $99 US which makes you eligible for a free-of-charge copy of Flash Builder 4 Standard edition when it ships. You can purchase maintenance with your Flex Builder 3 Pro purchase for an additional $299 US. To purchase maintenance, you will need to buy through an Adobe reseller. In the US, please contact CDW at 800-800-4239. -

How can I create an executable with Flex Builder 3?
I'm working with Flex Builder 3 right now and I've run my
head into a brick wall. Here's the situation:
I'm creating a standalone application (runs in its own
window, not in a web page) and I want to run it on a computer that
does not have Flex Builder 3 installed. Help files and web searches
haven't directed me to the right answer, so I was hoping that
someone on this forum could help. Anyone know how to create a .exe
file or something else that can be run outside of Flex Builder?
Thanks a lot for any help!quote:

Anyway, with Flex Builder, I created an MXML Application. I
went through all my various options again in Flex Builder and found
that under the project menu, I could export a release build in what
appears to be the format you mentioned. I managed to create a .air
file, but it is not a recognized file type on my computer. I tried
double clicking it and the built-in windows services couldn't even

Building from flex builder vs ant task
I have a flex application written using flex builder. When I
build it and run it using flex builder, or create an air file from
flex builder and run that, then my application works just fine.
However, I would like people without copies of flexBuilder
installed to be able to build my application, so I am using the
flex ant task (flex-mxmlc) to build my application. As far as I can
tell I have the same configuration, and the same libraries included
in the ant task. However, when I run the air file generated by the
ant task nothing happens. If you look in the task manager, you can
see that the application is running, but the main window for the
application never appears.
I tried running the swf through a debug version of flash to
get some log output, and I am getting a bunch of exceptions, the
first of which is:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.display::NativeWindow
could not be found.
at flash.display::MovieClip/nextFrame()
at mx.managers::SystemManager/deferredNextFrame()
at
mx.managers::SystemManager/preloader_initProgressHandler()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
at mx.preloaders::Preloader/timerHandler()
at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch()
at flash.utils::Timer/tick()
It seems like it might not be finding the main flex library
(flexlib.swc), is that where that class would be? In my ant task I
have an include-libraries tag that points to that file.
Anyone have any ideas?I experienced a similar problem (although the class that
could not be found was different for me). Googling around I found
someone who had a similar problem and claimed that using the
flexlib.swc library was the culprit.
The root of the problem is that the Flex SDK that comes
bundled with the Flex Builder has libraries (under frameworks/libs)
that are NOT included in plain free Flex SDK that you and I are
presumably using on our build machines.
When flexlib.swc is linked in, it causes certain classes to
be required at runtime. Apparently when you compile these classes
are linked in if available, but when they are not the compilation
still succeeds. Only you get a VerifyError when you run the thing.
What worked for me was to copy all the additional .swc files
found in my Flex Builder SDK's frameworks/libs directory to the
same directory on my build machine. Also you will need to copy the
additional files under frameworks/locale/en_US.
Rebuild and clear your browser's cache and it should then
work. -
Flex Builder choked - need help please
I had to go out of town for a few days so I installed Flex Builder 3 on my MacBook, downloaded and installed Flex SDK 3.3 (Since that is what I have been building on, on my office Mac), created an exported .zip of my major project files on my office Mac, copied it to the MacBook and set off on my trip.
When I set up the MacBook to start work, things looked OK at first, until I tried to switch to design mode. It popped up an error that "This component is based on ______, which is not a visual component. Switch to source mode to edit it" It did this for components based on Grid, Canvas, HBox and more.
I was stumped, and miles from an Internet connection to be able to do research. FInally I decided maybe my install of SDK 3.3 was corrupt. I reset in the project prefs to use SDK 3.0 and ... everything worked perfectly! I did what I needed to do for the rest of the weekend and returned home.
Now, I just tried to export my project as a Flex Project Archive on my MacBook. It resulted in a 24K .zip file - basically empty - that can't be used. So, I just renamed my primary project folder on the office Mac to hide it from Flex Builder, then copied all the files, including the hidden .flexproperties, .project and .actionscriptproperties, from the MacBook onto my office Mac in a new project folder named the same and in the same location as previously. The transfer appeared to be successful.
Now, on my office Mac, I am getting the message "An unknown item is declared as the root of your MXML document.Switch to source mode to correct it." This happens every time I try to switch to Design view, regardless of what component is used in the MXML doc.
After many attempts at figuring out and fixing the problem I tried setting the project properties to utilize SDK 3.1. Once that process was complete, then I went into properties again and set it to 3.3. It appears that I may have succeeded in restoring it to usability, but I'm not confident in that yet.
Can anyone give me some insight into the cause and fix of this problem? Especially the failure of Flex Builder to create a viable .zip archive file? I will be needing to move the project back and forth between my computers quite a bit for travel in the next few months.
Thanks.
PaulI am not being facetious with my answer but have you considered simply using XCode and Apache Ant and creating your own build script? This is the approach that I've had the fewest of problems with. The reason being is that Ant is Ant no matter where it is. It also cuts out all the background noise (i.e. configuration files, scripts, etc).
I have had similar problems like what you've mentioned using Netbeans and Eclipse (e.g. a version change or an SDK change and suddenly my project is somehow foobar).
As for your error message:
"An unknown item is declared as the root of your MXML document.Switch to source mode to correct it."
StackOverflow seemed to have a solution:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/347196/how-to-resove-this-error-an-unknown-item-is-decl ared-as-the-root-of-your-mxml-do
Don't know if it's your solution. Sometimes these automated tools place little hidden scripts in their comments that are meant to mean something for the drag-and-drop GUI editor and deleting these comments confuses the IDE. -
Flex 2 configuration for Struts application
Hello everyone,
Good afternoon.
I have some questions regarding the Flex 2 and Struts. I use
struts for long time already but just touch the Flex 2 since last
week. As I know, we can use Flex 2 to build our front end and
Struts for the Control and the back-end process for
Web-Application. I already read the article "Flex 2 Tag Library for
JSP" but still cannot get it correctly. Can anyone kindly help me
to setup and make it works.
I already downloaded and installed the following:
1. Struts 1.2.7 (I am using the struts-blank as my base
application)
2. Flex Builder 2 (With Flex SDK)
3. Flex Data Service 2.0.1
I followed what is writen in the web-site. But cannot make it
right. Please help me.
Thank you and Good day,Hi,
You may go through this link to get the overview of the database level requirements for Siebel 8.1 database:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11886_01/V8/CORE/SRSP_81/SRSP_81_DBPlatforms2.html#wp1013211
The Siebel Bookshelf available at edelivery.oracle.com will give you a complete and in depth picture.
For Development instance, ensure that you have binary sort order set.
It is recommended to use AL32UTF8 as the codepage for Dev enviornment multi lingual enviornment.

Flash Builder 4 with Flex SDK 4.0 for Intel App Up
There is some misinformation on Intel AppUp and the Melrose FAQ about being able to publish with Flash Builder 4.
Intel App Up Program Submission
According to http://appdeveloper.intel.com/en-us/article/adobe-air-packaging-guide-atom-developer-progr am-submissions
"AIR app must be built using Flex Builder 3 with Flex SDK 3.5a. Currently Flex Builder 4 with Flex SDK 4 is not supported."
Melrose FAQ
According to http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/melrose/Melrose+Developer+FAQ
"Q: Are there system requirements for enabling try and buy in AIR apps using Melrose?
A: You must have Adobe Flex Builder 3 or greater and Adobe AIR 1.5.3 or greater."
Is the Intel App Up statement correct? If it is, could I get an explanation why? I've been waiting for the last 3 months waiting for the Melrose SDK to deploy to Intel App Up and now I can't even submit my application.
Thanks. The current version of Melrose supports Flex 3.5 SDK for AIR applications running on AIR 1.5.3 runtime or higher. You can use Adobe Flex Builder 3 with Flex 3.5 SDK or Adobe Flash Builder 4 with Flex 3.5 SDK.
Support for Flex 4.1 SDK for AIR applications running on AIR 2.0 runtime should be available within a few weeks. Please note that we will not be able to support Flex 4.0 SDK because of certain technical challenges. -
Does Flex Builder 3 generate only AS 3.0 ?
Hi
By default my Flex project exported
swf files flash player version is 9.0 and Actionscript
version is 3.0 (I think) .
But I need lower flash player version with AS 2.0 ?
Is it possible ?
If yes , please guide me how ?
Regardsntsiii , I`m looking for a solution to get AS2 from exported
swf movies via Flex . Do you mean that is absolute for Flex2 that
generate AS3 ?
I thinks Flex 2 can generate AS2 , can`t it?
Anyway , which version of Flex Builder can create swf movies
with AS2 for me ?

I cannot find any example of successfully setting up,
building and executing an Actionscript project in Flex Builder with
the main class being in a package. I don't care if I have to create
the appropriate directory structure manually, I just want to get it
to work. Every combination of project settings I have tried fails
to generate the .swf file in the correct location for execution.
