Installing http server on windows 7

Can anyone find a link for me, thanks, Doug

Are you installing webtier? If so I wrote about it installing on 2008r2 which probably looks a lot like win7. If this is 64 bit win7 then
I think you need to be mindful of the bitness of java. If you install all 32 bit stuff or all 64 bit stuff then maybe you're ok but I'm not
sure you can run one thing that installed 64 bit java and another thing that installed 32 bit java. Something to think about...

  • HTTP Server for Windows 64 bit not on the companion CD

    Hi,
I cannot find the HTTP Server for Windows 64 bit on the companion CD. Any idea where I can get it from? For the 32bit version the HTTP Server is on the Companion CD.
    Thanks in advance,
    Florin

If i am correct reason should be : Oracle Application Server 10g will run as a 32-bit application
Following platforms have the same media in either case:
    Microsoft Windows 32-bit and EM64T/AMD64
(Not Itanium-64, which is separate and referred to as "Windows 64-bit")
    Linux x86 and Linux x86-64
Solaris Sparc 32-bit and Solaris Sparc 64-bit
As the Oracle Application Server 10g will be run as a 32-bit application. See the Installation Guide or readme files for any specific steps on these 64-bit platforms.

    James,
The key parts in that output are -
    2006-10-30 16:20:52 Thread-4136076976 ERROR http: snmehl_allocateListenerPort: f
ailed to bind socket: Address already in use (errno=98)

    Try (as root) -
/usr/bin/lsof -i TCP:3938which should show you information about the process(es) that are currently listening on that port.
    As for -
    /app/oracle/product/10.2.0/companion/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd: error while loadin
g shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directorylibdb is a prerequisite of installing the Apache server, I believe you can get the library as part of the Berkeley DB installation/rpm's/packages (it should be listed in the installation document).
    Hope this helps.

  • Install Http Server in ORACLE 10g 10.2.0.3

Hi, before i had Oracle XE 10.2.0.1 and Apex 3.2 both worked ok. Now remove Oracle XE and APEX 3.2 and then installed ORACLE 10g 10.2.0.3 and Apex 4.0, but when i try to login to apex http://server:8080/pls/apex/apex_admin the login page not appears.
Before run apex with OC4J from developer suite 10g, but now i need to install some particular http server with the companion cd or something like that.
I guess i have to install http server and xml database from companion cd but which option have to choose.
    Regards

Pl post details of your OS. If you installed 10.2.0.3, you will also need to install the HTTP server from the companion CD.

  • Cant Install HTTP Server on  SUSE10

    Hello,
When I try to install HTTP Server from Oracle DB 10g Companion CD on a SUSE 10 with a working Oracle10g DB I get an error message where ever I call runInstaller so my installation never initiates.
As in the installation documentation I change my directory to "/tmp" and then from there I call runInstaller like "/media/cd_name/runInstaller". Just as I press enter I got this message " /media/cd_name/runInstaller: Line 61: /media/cd_name/install/.oui: no such file or directory"
It is also happens when I try the root user and also happens the same when I try to run the installer from a directory instead of cd.
    Can Anybody help me?

    Hi Orlando17R,
Are you getting the following error message when installing SQL Server?
“The configuration registry key is invalid”
If that is the case, you might need to rebuild Performance Counters, for more details, please review this similar blog:

However, if the issue still persists, please help to post the summary and detail logs for analysis. For more information

  • Installing Apex 4 on Oracle 11.2.0.3 with Oracle HTTP Server on WINDOWS

Has someone put together a cookbook on installing the above? I have tried following the documentation; but it is in dire need of updating. I have become quite confused as to how to piece together alll of the parts. Seemed much easier in 10.2...
    TIA!

TIA!After a database re-install on my Windows 7 laptop 2 months ago I tried to install the HTTP server but had trouble getting it to work. After a day or two I gave up and used the EPG which works with some performance issues - pages can take many seconds to render. I think there is a conflict between the EPG and security software on the laptop but have not been able to pin down the exact problem. Anyway, the EPG is not an option for you and even Oracle does not reccommend it for production implementations. The EPG is okay for quick-and-dirty R & D but real implentation should have something better. I prefer the EPG on my laptop because the Apex listener required an extra window to be open that I was likely to close by mistake (my error yes. Reality is sometimes stupid).
I have had several sucessful installs on older versions of Apex on Oracle 9 and 10 on Windows XP using the HTTP server but always struggle with the configuration; getting the settings in the .conf file (whatever it is called now) correct remains difficult (at least for me). I keep installation notes on problems encountered and their solutions. Typical issues I encounter are
    1. Incorrect configuration file settings
    2. Improper loading of images
    3. Missing installation steps (unlocking ANONYMOUS, for instance, or not updating the PL/SQL version).
    4. Make sure the correct URL is being used
    5. When using the HTTP Server making sure it is running by using its URL is very heplful
Follow the installation instructions for your platform and listener. If something does not work first review the installtion instructions very carefully, then perform web searches for answers to the problem. Except for last time when I lost patience with the HTTP server the installations have always worked.
I also find Windows 7 painful - the added security prevents me from editing needed files without jumping through hoops. I don't even want to think about Windows 8 ...

    Hello,
This error generally points out to fact that account which you are using is not able to start database engine after installation or in between. There can be quite few reasons for that.I would like you to paste log file for failed installation using below
    link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143702.aspx
Please make sure all previous failed installations are removed completely.
If possible create a new ID add it into local windows administrator and then try installation with that ID.Or you can login in windows with that ID .Go to setup files RK on Set.up.exe and select run as administrator

  • Installing Forms Server on Windows 2000

We installed Forms Server 6i on Windows 2000. We completed the installation successfully. When we clicked on the 'Run the Form on the Web.', it gives 'This page cannot be displayed.' error. We tried this twice, but getting same error.
    Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    VL.

Do you have your web server installed too?
forms server works in conjunction with your web server.
Make sure you have done the following...
Web server is listening on port 80
Forms server is running in HTTP mode. ( You may need to stop and restart the forms service in win2000 if you change this from socket in the registry )
You must also set up your virtual directorys on your web server. I used the microsoft internet information server that comes with win2000. It's an add on component on the disk. Oracle would suggest you use Oracle 9i application server ( Which is rebadged Apache )
Forms server is running on port 9000. Also set in the registry.
You also edit the in the formsweb.cfg file in <ORACLE_HOME>\forms60\server
Make sure HTTP mode is set in this too. You can also change various params such as the applet size etc. I would recommend the Oracle look and feel and run in separate windows options.
All the forms tester does is run a bit of cgi which will dynamically change the base HTML file in <ORACLE_HOME>\forms60\sever.
You will notice there is one file which is baseie and basejint. The cgi will choose to use the one depending on if you choose to use jinitiator or ie50=native.
When you go live can maually edit these files depending on what java viutual machine you choose. You can place this file in your web site root as defaut.htm or whatever you want and it will serve you app without using the cgi html generator.
Sorry if parts of this you know but it took me weeks of work to set this up. The Oracle documentation is not very well put together.
I have read nearly every line of the damn stuff.
Please e-mail me if you have any queries as I may have not made sense in places.

  • How to install HTTP Server in a Linux Machine for running APEX

I've Installed Unbreakable Linux 4.7 and I'm using the standard apache which comes (Apache 2), I want to install the HTTP Server in order to run APEX on this machine, and may it look the data from the database which is oracle 10g (The database is on another machine). Could both installations of apache and Oracle http server co-exists and what is the best form to do it??

Yes, they can. They installed in different directories and you have to use different ports.
AFAIK for HTTP for APEX is either part of the installation (eg. in the Oracle Express Edition) or part of the Oracle Installation CDs. For more information see the Oracle Installation Documentation.

  • Installing HTTP Server After APEX2.2

    Hiii
i have installed the APEX 2.2 and after i have finished i remembered that i have to install the HTTP Server os installed it ....
but i dont know if it will Succeed or NOT ...
now i am in the POST INSTALLATION TASKS ON
" Configuring Oracle HTTP Server 10g or Oracle Application Server 10g in a New
    Installation"
    WHAT DO YOU THINK .........???

    James,
The key parts in that output are -
    2006-10-30 16:20:52 Thread-4136076976 ERROR http: snmehl_allocateListenerPort: f
ailed to bind socket: Address already in use (errno=98)

d to listen to HTTP port for http://localhost:3938/emd/mainThey are telling you that it could not bind to that particular port number (port 3938) because something else is already bound to it.

  • Installing HTTP Server on Fedora 4

I am completely stuck. I managed to install the latest release of 10G, and now I am trying to install the HTTP Server and HTMLDB on my Fedora 4 box. The problem comes when the universal installer attempts to start the HTTP server - it fails every time. I am getting the following errors in the HTTP_Server~1 log:

I have been searching the web for two days now, but have not found anything that fixes this issue. Can anyone here help?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Erich-

    @twilliamsebs:
I had the same problem described above, but your post actually created a lot of confusion! libdb.so.2 did not exist at first on my system. Then I read this post and added the symlink so that the
symlink /usr/lib/libdb.so.2 was pointing to /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 and this actually didn't change the dbm_fetch error as described above.
I found the following info after removing this symbolic link, while searching for the "libdb.so.2" being missing error:
    "Configuration changes prevented server
    startup.<ORACLE_HOME>/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd:
error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared object
    file: No such file
