Installing JCE 1.2

Hi!
I have j2sdk1.4.1 installed on my machine and I've just downloaded JCE1.2. Now I would like to use this unlimited strength version of JCE instead of the JCE that comes alongwith j2sdk1.4.1. How can I do this?
Please help asap.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Shakeel

Hi Shakee,

  • I just installed JCE on my new CF10 and now can't login to administrator, what am I doing wrong?

    I have CF 10,284568 installed on SUSe 12.2 with Java 1.7.0_15  64bit.  When I swap out the two JCE files, restart Coldfusion, I can no longer login to the Administrator.  To be more specific, it appears session management isn't working.  If I login using a bad username/password pair I get an error, if I login with the correct pair I get returned to the login screen without any error.  Additionally, none of my datasources work (MySQL ).  If I swap out the original (local policy and  US export policy jars) and restart everything works fine.
    What am I doing wrong?  Do I need to run something in the CF bin or reinstall to get this to work?

    I tried to repro the Issue :
    Here are my findings ,

    CF with Java 1.7.0_25

    Everything works fine
    Case 2 )
    CF with Java 1.6.0_29
    On top of it Install UnlimitedJCEPolicy 6
    Restart Server
    Everything works fine
    Case 3 )
    CF with Java 1.6.0_29
    On top of it Install UnlimitedJCEPolicy JDK7 ( Basically wrong version of Policy Files )
    Unable to open administrator !! And DB’s won’t work as mentioned above

    CF with Java 1.7.0_25
    On top of it Install UnlimitedJCEPolicy 6 ( Basically wrong version of Policy Files )
    Unable to open administrator !! And DB’s won’t work as mentioned above
    Can you please check if you are applying the right version of Policy Files ? Or Am I missing something here ? Can you also try with the latest Java and latest CF Update ?

  • Installing JCE 1.2.2 in J2SE 1.3.1 enviroment

    In response to an issue involving APC Powerchute 6 on a Windows 2000 server, we are attempting to follow the recommendation provided below. Posted on Thursday, July 28, 2005 4:52 PM
    In order for PowerChute Business Edition to remain functional, users must
    upgrade to any version of 7.x. Due to expiration of the Sun Java Runtime
    Environment certificate, versions 6.x of PowerChute Business Edition will
    cease to operate normally as of July 27, 2005. Failure to upgrade will
    result in PowerChute Business Edition no longer providing monitoring and
    ************READ THIS CAREFULLY THIS SAYS THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESTART THE COMPUTER*****************
    After lengthy reasearch by an associate, here is the problem and the fix:
    I researched the Microsoft and APC (and SUN) site and found the REAL cause of the problem.
    Here it is:
    1. Impact
    The Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) 1.2.1 is an optional package for J2SE 1.2.x and 1.3.x that provides a framework and implementations for encryption, key generation, key agreement, and Message Authentication Code (MAC) algorithms. The digital certificate that was used to sign the JCE 1.2.1 jar files will expire on July 27, 2005, after which the product will no longer function.
    2. Contributing Factors
    This issue can occur in the following release:
    Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) 1.2.1 (for J2SE 1.2.x and 1.3.x)
    Notes:
    JCE 1.2.1 is at "End of Service Life" (EOSL), and is no longer supported. JCE 1.2.1 was EOSL'ed in 2002 when JCE 1.2.2 was released.
    The JCE that is integrated into J2SE 1.4 and later is not affected by this issue. This Sun Alert is specific to JCE 1.2.1, which is an optional package for use with J2SE 1.2.x. and 1.3.x (JCE 1.2.1 is not bundled with J2SE 1.2.x and 1.3.x).
    3. Symptoms
    After the expiration date, code calling into JCE 1.2.1 will fail with symptoms similar to the following:
    [xxxxxx@xxxxxx] 258 >java BlowfishKey
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError:
    java.lang.SecurityException: Cannot set up certs for trusted CAs

    at javax.crypto.KeyGenerator.getInstance([DashoPro-V1.2-120198] )
    Solution Summary Top
    4. Relief/Workaround
    There is no workaround. Please see the "Resolution" section below.
    5. Resolution
    This issue is addressed in the following releases:
    Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) 1.2.2 (for J2SE 1.2.x and 1.3.x)
    which is available at:
    http://java.sun.com/products/jce/index-122.html
    JCE in J2SE 1.4 and later
    which is available at:

  • Help needed installing JCE on RHEL4

    Hello friends,
    I have downloaded the jce1_2_2.zip file. Need help on installing it. J2sdk 1.4.X is installed but still I am getting error like Unallotable Package JCE. Thats why I downloaded this file and now dont know how to install it. Even the instrauctions I found are clear.
    Please suggest me.
    Its urgent.
    Thanks

    I'm not sure on that model as I haven't seen one so don't know how the bios works.  You'll have to try using some of the arrow keys to see how to move the CD to above the hard drive.   When it boots up it have an F12 option (at the same time you see the F2 prompt to enter the bios) that takes you to the Boot Manager Menu, but like I said, they don't sell that model over here so I've never seen it so I don't know if it's there or not.  You'll need to ask over in the Euro forum where they sell it how that works.
    If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Any way to confirm JCE is installed?

    Hello...a consulting partner installed JDK for a system of ours and was required to also install JCE. I need to validate that install. Any way to confirm whether JCE was installed?

    Well, the javax.crypto.Cipher class in included in JCE, so if it's not present, it means JCE is not there. Try this
    try {
        Class.forName("javax.crypto.Cipher");
    } catch (Exception e) {
        System.err.println("Sorry, but there's no JCE");
    }In fact, if you are using Sun's JRE equal or higher than 1.4, JCE is already included.

  • JCE Based Java Stored Procedure in Oracle 8i

    I have a Java class which is created based on JCE 1.2.1. I need to call this Java class from PL/SQL. Therefore, I want to create a Java stored procedure based on this Java class. I just read some topics in this forum and it seems that many people are unable to have JCE correctly setup on Oracle8 JVM.
    My question is how to configure the JVM of Oracle8i to use the JCE?
    I am using Oracle 8.1.6 on unix.
    Thanks,

    unfortunately, for JCE to work, you need a fix to OracleJVM that we will be providing in the next major release
    Thanks for your reply.
    The JCE optional package could be installed on SUN's JDK 1.2.x or higher. Since Oracle 8.1.6's JServer support SUN's JDK 1.2.1. Therefore, in theory, JCE could be installed for Oracle 8.1.6 or higher.
    However, the cofiguration of JCE on the JVM requires the modification of Java security policy file. I followed the JCE's installation guide but it did not work on Oracle's JServer.
    My question is: How to install JCE 1.2.1 on Oracle 8.1.6? Is it possible to configure the JVM of Oracle 8.1.x to use JCE? If yes, how?
    Thanks,
    JCE is an optional package even in J2SE 1.3 - it is required in J2SE 1.4
    OracleJVM will be J2SE 1.4 compliant in the nest major release and we plan to support JCE

    ================

    The problem was due to the fact that the client application was using the new AES128 SSL ciphersuites, which are not supported in SP3/SP4. Here's BEA support's response:
    The following are the ssl cipher suite supported by weblogic server 8.1 sp4
    TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA
    TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5
    TLS_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA
    TLS_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_RC4_40_MD5
    TLS_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA
    TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
    TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA
    TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_MD5
    TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_MD5
    TLS_RSA_EXPORT124_WITH_RC4_56_SHA
    Support has been added for the following two AES cipher suites in WLS 8.1 SP5
    TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA
    TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA
    In order to use TLS_RSA_WITH_ AES_ 256_CBC_SHA cipher suite, you need you install JCE unlimited strength jurisdiction policy files instead of the policy files that are shipped with the JDK by default The jurisdiction files can be found at <http://java.sun.com/products/jce/index-14.html>
    Only TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA requires the judisdiction files. TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA does not

  • SolMan 4.0 Installation

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me what is the version of java needed for windows 2003 server with oracle 10g to install solution manager 4.0. Then, should we need to install JCE policy also. What is it, how to go about it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sailesh K

    Hi Sailesh K
    I recommend to you to use the version of java j2sdk-1_4_2_09-windows-i586-p.exe, the JCE police will request you in the installation this it you can unload of the Link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html this file .zip and you do not have to decompress it, when it asks for the single installation it give the route it where is located the file jce_policy-1_4_2.zip

  • SAPInst error related to sid adm user creation

    Hello,
    I am doing SAP Netweaver 7.0 Installation (ABAP+JAVA) Stack.
    The SAPInst completed the below 2 phases successfully. It errorred out in the 3rd phase, with message "Unable to modify  account user="cmeadm" uid="3141"."  as seen below. Can you let me know what is the cause for this error?
    Please note that, surprising thing is,  as seen below, it says cmeadm uid 3141 exists with parameter description.
    Then in later below lines, it says
    FSL-05014  Command '/usr/sbin/usermod' with parameters '-c "SAP System Administrator" cmeadm' failed with return code 6: UX: /usr/sbin/usermod: ERROR: cmeadm does not exist.
    Why is it saying the cmeadm does not exist, when SAPInst confirms that it exists in the above line and in the below log file.
    1- Check Solution Manager key -> SUCCESS
    2- Install JCE Policy file              -> SUCCESS
    3- Create users for SAP System. - > ERROR seen below.

    Are you running sapinst under root user?

  • Error trying to instantiate MessageDigest

    I'm developing using JBuilder 7.
    I have installed JCE.
    I've copied the .jar files to the appropriate directories that JBuilder is looking at, and JBuilder does recoginze java.security and javax.crypto API's.
    I've verified the providers in the java.security file.
    But I am getting an error when I do the following...
    MessageDigest md = new MessageDigest.getInstance("MD5");
    The error tells me that getInstance is not a found class in java.security.MessageDigest.
    Any clues as to why this is happening, and what I need to do to correct this? Please give specific instructions. Thanks.
    - Mark Cogan

    Oops, sorry.
    Shouldn't have the 'new' on that line.
    Took it out and fixed the problem.
    Sorry to waste anyone's time.

  • Implementing RSA algorithm

    Dear All,
    I want to implement RSA algorithm by using java.tell me whether we can implement RSA by using JCE or any different functionalities is there. i want some soft copy related to RSA pls help me out.

    Hello,
    I do not know how much do you know about implementing algorithms and what are you exactly watching for.
    Some days ago I find this information about (I can not remind where did I take it, maybe was from this forum) for install JCE and BouncyCastle software for encryption.
    You should first download change the policy of the JCE By downloading this
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html just JCE a and unzip in a folder read the read me doc so you should cut that 2 file and put here C:\j2sdk1.4.2_02\jre\lib\security
    and here C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_02\lib\security
    done this then download the bouncy jar file from http://www.bouncycastle.org/latest_releases.html take the bcprov-jdk14-120.jar and put in following directories
    C:\j2sdk1.4.2_02\jre\lib\ext
    C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_02\lib\ext
    then you need to change the environment variable so in the following directories open "java.security" in both
    C:\j2sdk1.4.2_02\jre\lib\security
    C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_02\lib\security
    and edit it and add the extra line
    security.provider.numberProvider=org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider
    Then you should test if everything is good installed:
    import java.security.Provider;
    import java.security.Security;
    import java.util.Set;
    import java.util.Iterator;
    public class Verifica {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              Provider[] providers = Security.getProviders();
              for (int i = 0; i < providers.length; i++) {
                   Provider provider = providers;
                   System.out.println("Provider name: " + provider.getName());
                   System.out.println("Provider information: " + provider.getInfo());
                   System.out.println("Provider version: " + provider.getVersion());
                   Set entries = provider.entrySet();
                   Iterator iterator = entries.iterator();
                   /*while (iterator.hasNext()) {
                        System.out.println("Property entry: " + iterator.next());
    And you will see if there is RSA. (It should)
    An example:
    Encription:
    //Object Cipher to encript data.
    Cipher encriptDatos = Cipher.getInstance("RSA", "BC");
    encriptDatos.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, servidorPub); //servidorPub is the server public key you should have or generate
    //data encryption
    byte[] datosEncriptados = encriptDatos.doFinal(b);
    Desencryption:
    Cipher Cipherdesencriptacion = Cipher.getInstance("RSA", "BC");
    Cipherdesencriptacion.init(Cipher.DECRYPT_MODE, servidorPriv); //ServidorPriv is the server public key
    //data desencryption
    byte[] datosClaros = Cipherdesencriptacion.doFinal(datos); //datos = encripted data.I am sure you can find many examples of encrypt and decrypt. But hope this help as introduction.

    I found on page: http://www.bouncycastle.org/specifications.html
    This:
    Note: with JDK 1.4 and later you will need to have installed the unrestricted policy files to take full advantage of the provider. If you do not install the policy files you are likely to get something like the following:
    java.lang.SecurityException: Unsupported keysize or algorithm parameters
    at javax.crypto.Cipher.init(DashoA6275)
    After instal jce.jar is this problem missed.
