Installing NW 7.01 ABAP Trial and NW CE 7.1 Trial on same machine?

Hi all,
I have downloaded and installed "SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/80fd9a0a-e306-2a10-c896-b84c77c13ed2) successfully.
Now I would like to install "EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 - Preview Version" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/80fd9a0a-e306-2a10-c896-b84c77c13ed2) on the same machine for exercise reasons. All Hardware requirements are fullfilled.
1. Is it possible to run both ABAP and Java Stack on the same machine like I plan to?
2. What do I have to consider?
3. How should I proceed?

First of all thanks for the reply.
But it seems I have some issue.Here are the steps I have done:
1. installing NW Abap 7.01 Trial: ok.
2. installing NW CE 7.1 Trial: ok.
After step 2 I remember the message "successfully installed". Just to make sure I restarted my whole OS (WinXP, SP2, German language). Afterwards I opened the SAP Management Console in order to start the NW CE 7.1 only (Instance CE1). In the SAP Management Console I have 2 nodes:
1. CE1 (Composition Environment)
2. NSP (for NW Abap 7.01)
I made a right click onto the corresponding CE1 node and choosed start (please consider I stopped NSP). My machine is named matrix, so I have the following 3 nodes below the CE1 node:
- matrix (db)
- matrix 1
- matrix 2
After I clicked "start" on the CE1 node I waited for some long time to open the browser:
-http://localhost:50000/
-http://localhost:50100/
-http://matrix:50100/
-http://matrix:50000/
None of these URLs worked! It seems that the page could not be loaded because the System CE1 is never up! I checked this against the entries in the SAP Management Console for the CE1 node:
- matrix (db) ==> blue color, which is ok I guess
- matrix 1 ==> yellow, which is not ok I guess
- matrix 2 ==> green, which is great
So I checked the node "matrix 1", and here I checked the Process list node:
- jstart.EXE ==> status: stopped
- igswd.EXE ==> status: running
I am not very sure, but I guess the issue is that jstart.EXE never starts up??? Therefore the "matrix 1" node stay yellow and never turns green. The developer trace of jstart.EXE look as follows:

Certain items on the classic menus have become invisible when you use the mouse. I have no idea why that is; perhaps they didn't want to duplicate the right-click on tab menu item? Anyway, if you open the bookmarks menu with the keyboard, by pressing Alt+b, then you will see Bookmark All Tabs.

What OS are you going for....Windows / unix ?
Just make sure you have enough Memory CPU to facilitate both
and have enouge disk for the paging file.
Have you considered MCOD, and is there a reason why you want to run EEC6 and ECC5 why not just EEC6 for both.

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly Thanks anyway!

Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

Can Portal 3.0 and 8i/9i Database Software exist on same Machine?

Our current setup at work is webdb 2.1 and Oracle EE 8.0.5 residing on ONE physical server.
(Sun Solaris)I need to upgrade the Software to Oracle EE 8.1.7 and Portal 3.0. We do not run Webdb as part of an internet or intranet site(These are controled by other departments)We use these products so a small number of users (9-30) can easily access a data warehouse via a browser. I will never get the funding for a 2nd Physical machine to act as as application server. I am hoping I am confused but can Portal 3.0 and 8i/9i Datbase software be installed on the same physical machine? I was led to believe that 9i Application Server Software can not be installed on the same machine as the 8i/9i
database.Why do I need application server software or the 9iAS http listener when Oracle 8.1.7 comes with an inbuilt http listener?
If we have to have a 2nd physical machine,
management will pull the plug on Oracle and will go with another vedor solution. I don't want to loose my Oracle SQL skills, can someone please help!

I've installed Portal 3 (production) and database 8.1.7 on one machine running Windows 2000 and 99% works fine.
The procedure is:
1) Install the database from operating user X in Oracle-home A
2) Turn off the http-listener for the database.
3) Install iAS from os-user Y in Oracle-home B.
If you do not use separate users or use database 8.1.6 or earlier, you get problems with the java-patchs and libraries.
By the way - it is NOT possible to install a development environment (Designer 6/6i, Developer 6i, Discoverer 3.1) on that same machine. Cause is that ias9i installs Developer 6i patch 2 (runtime) and that version doesn't operate against the latest available development patches. So, I think in your case you have to install the development software on the clientmachines.

Running 10.1.2 forms and 10.1.3 app server on same machine

Has anyone installed and run (in production) both 10.1.2 Forms/Reports and the 10.1.3 app server on the same machine? We would like to make use of the new OC4J features in 10.1.3 but also need to support a forms/reports app.
If someone has done this, any pitfalls. Is there a way to have one HTTP front-end to both app servers?

This is an upgrade of a 9.0.4. installation. Infrastructure on one machine, a single middle tier on the other with all products (i.e. with forms and reports).

The plan is to replace exactly what we have with the 10.1.2 versions. It was just that it does suggest there is this extra step to link Forms and reports to the infrastructure. But if you say nothing else is required than all the better.
I am soon to try this in out test environment so I'm sure I will find there.

Running SUN JRE and Microsoft VM in InternetExplorer on the same machine

Our product needs at least Java 1.3 to run.
One of our customers needs to run old applets which for some reason I don't know need the microsoft VM.
Is there a way to install/run both VMs on the same machine?

Can they be installed - yes.
But your code will not run in the MS VM. And if their applets won't run in your VM that means there will be two VMs running as two separate processes. So the applets will not be interacting with your code directly.

How to load both 32 bit and 64 bit version of addon on same machine

When deploying an addon using SAP Business One Extension Manager, how can we install both 32 bit and 64 bit version of the addon for same machine?
If the OS is 64 bit, SAP allows to install and use both 32 bit SBO client and 64 bit SBO client. I want that when the 32 bit SBO client is used, my 32 bit addon should get loaded, and when 64 bit client is used, my 64 bit addon should get loaded.
But the SBO Extension Manager loads the addon for a given company; there seems to be no option to specify different addon files for 32 bit and 64 bit.
Is there a way?

Hi Rajesh,
There might be the problem while creating the add-on.
It is the system behavior that once you login to 32 bit SAP Client, you can use only 32 bit Add-on. Means 32 bit add-on will be loaded automatically.
Same is in the case of 64 Bit.
What you have to do is:
If OS is 64 Bit and you have installed both 32 and 64 Bit SAP Client then once open 32 bit client and install only 32 bit add-on
Then open 64 Bit SAP Client and install only 64 bit add-on.
By doing this you will be able to use 32 bit add-on on 32 bit SAP Client and vice versa.

Is it possible to run DW CS4 and DW CS 5.5 (as an update of the DW CS 4) on the same machine? Due to the fact that ADDT doesn't exist anymore and we still have some projects needed to be maintained on ADDT, DW CS 4 should still be usable on the same Mac.

Yes, each upgrade installs into its own folder.
Just don't try and run them at the same time.
Many people keep half a dozen versions (upgrades of each other) on their hard drive since hard drives are so spacious these days.

PeopleTools 8.43 and 8.49 can be on the same machine?

Of course, you can have many PS_HOME within different Peopletools version on same machine.
However, on Windows workstation/server, you should be careful :
1. with the connectid (people) user and password, it is better if they are same on all your db if you want to avoid to change them through ConfigManager
2. with DataMover default folder, it can take the one from a previous run, regardless the version you were/are using, so it could point to an other PS_HOME than the one you want. Or set a full path directory to your INPUT/OUTPUT file, or change the windows registry (I'm doing it by cmd script)

install issues, your support personnel are trained not to provide any reasonable help with even minor questions and concerns helping to make sure your trial experiences are progress and successful, your product support Mgrs show lack luster concern if you
need some technical direction. The first thing that is asked is do you have a support contract or credit card for this session. Now, if I am evaluating products a support contract should not be necessary as you should want customers to have good
outcomes with their trials.
I have been trying to configure test servers with the above mentioned products for the past 6 days with no success. Each install is different and the configurations some times work and some times they don't. I reach out for help in your forums,
etc., and am still at square one.
This frustrating and breeds a lack of confidence in your organization. When Bill Gates was in charge I experienced none of the nonsense today.
I have identified bugs and issues to your product teams and they gladly accept these. But when help is needed...it is send us an email type attitude. I have 8 8 core servers running windows 2008 server R2 slated for upgrading to windows
2012 server, and more after that. If I don't get the trial software to work, the upgrades are terminated.

Thanks for the reply, i have however not been able to find any viable hotfix from MS addressing this problem so far. I only found the QFE for 2008 R2, but this is not applicable in my enviroment.
Sadly, we are experiencing the same issue with the 2008 R2 server as print server now. So the problem seems to be with the 2012 R2 RDS servers.
We have been able to narrow it down to a probable cause though:
The issue seems to be the cause of Client Side Rendering, even if it is disabled on the shared printers. We are seeing heavy bloating in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider
The same printers are listed multiple times in subkeys for each user-SID.
The print server is listed twice under the 'Servers' key, once with just the hostname and once with the fqdn. Benath these two many of the printers are also listed multiple times.
Consequences are that printers are showing as clones for the users and they cannot set them as default printer. If they remove the printer manually, it just reappears. Setting a delete on the shared printer through GPP does not work either.
The only manual workaround we have found working is to delete the entire "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider" key on the
terminal server in question, and then restart the print spooler. This fixes the problem for the user, but once they start logging off and on again, the bloating of the registry is at it once more - and the problems following with it.
In an enviroment with 70+ printers and 15 RDS servers, spread on 3 different farms, it's not a good solution though.
Any ideas?

Can we install ECC 6.0 (ABAP stack) and EP 700 in the single system?

At present we have the running system, which is having DEV and QA instance of ECC 6.0. We are planning to implement EP in near future. So my question is, is it possible to install EP dev instance on the same system after adding the 3GB Ram and some more space to the existing system?

Hi Amit,
Yes, it is a supported scenario by SAP. At one time during Ramp-up, there were technical limitations, but these have been lifted. See SAP Note 883948.
The main factors about this scenario have to to with lifecycle management and security. If the systems are combined, they have to be patched and upgraded together. Also, if they are combined, there is no possibility of a firewall between them.

How do I MOVE my installed Thunderbird on Windows NT to a second physical hard drive on the same machine?

On my wife's computer, her current hard drive is filled with digital junk to such an extent that I am unable to free up enough space to do appropriate cleaning and maintenance. Using Thunderbird, she has years of email and is the recipient of tremendous amounts of incoming e-mail every day. Our default e-mail is a POP account and at times she has tremendous difficulty downloading her e-mail simply because there is not room. OK ... in an effort to relieve the problem, I installed a 2nd large hard drive on her machine and moved a lot of stuff (e.g. pictures,etc.) onto it. Still, the problem remains. I would like to move here Thunderbird itself onto the 2nd drive, along with ALL of her related mail archives. The question is, what is the best way to migrate from one (boot) hard drive (C:) to a second, backup hard drive (call it Z:), removing it completely from C: and thus freeing up an enormous amount of space??

All mail is stored in the profile. So you want to move the profile to the other disk. Check this article and use the method you feel comfortable with.

Analyzer 7.2.1 and Reports 7.2.1 on the same machine

Hi all,We have this environment on the reporting server:- OS 2003 server SP1- Analyzer 7.2.1, repository Oracle 10g- Reports 7.2.1, repository Oracle 10g- Web Server: Websphere Express 5.1On another server is installed Essbase 7.1.3.The installation of Analyzer and Reports was OK.I start using first Analyzer and I open an report everything OK. All works fine.If I try to use Reports I receive this error: Native Library D:\Hyperion\common\ADM_A\7.2.1\Essbase\7.2.1\bin\HssJNIDriver721.dll already loaded in another classloader.If, instead, I start to use first Reports .. when I try to use Analyzer.. I receive the same error.Seems that Analyzer and Reports does not work properly installed on the same server. There is a way to make them work together ?Thanks.

We had Reports and Analyzer installed on the same 2003 server and they never played well together. If we had one open, and tried to open the other it bombed. We were on version 7.1 of Analyzer and not sure on Reports.

Installing NW 7.01 ABAP Trial and NW CE 7.1 Trial on same machine?
