Installing office 2007

I am new to the Mac community.  I still live in the PC world at work and have installed parallel desktop and windows 7.  I am having trouble installing MS Office 2007 on the windows side.  I have the original DVD, but it doesn't run automatically from the DVD; clicking on the setup.exe file doesn't work and I get different error messages when I try to autorun or open the set up files.  Any help?

Can anyone give a detailed reason as to why MS doesn't want to utilize Office on Win7 Embedded?  Is this a decision MS made or is there another force behind the reason?  I can't understand why MS would want to limit their revenue by not allowing
one of their own apps run on their own OS.
I read the pdf from
here and the info from
here but I still do not understand the reason to limit the functionality

  • Can I install office 2007 on windows 8.1 64 bit

I have an office 2007 which is currently installed on a machine running Office XP (SP3) 32 bit system and it is working fine.
I guess that makes the office a 32 bit version.
Now i have changed to a new laptop with pre-installed win 8.1 64 bit version.
I was wondering if i will be able to use the office 2007 on this machine now.
    Please provide some guidance.

    Hi
Yes you are able to install office 2007 on windows 8.1, one of my colleagues is running it just fine.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Install Office 2007

    Hi,
I did just buy my macbook. My problem is that I cannot install office 2007 from a CD. When I put in the CD nothing happens! What shall I do? Do I need a special installprogram for CD:s or is it supposed to work?
    Thanks

Office 2007 is a Windows version of Office. You can install Windows on that Mac, or you can get Office 2008 for the Mac, or Office 2004 for the Mac, or http://www.neooffice.org/ if the only reason is to access Word, Powerpoint and Excel. If you need access to Entourage for Mac, that's in Office 2008 or Office 2004. If you need access to Microsoft Access, you will need a Windows operating system installed on your Mac.

  • XML problem after installing Office 2007

Sinds we installed Office 2007 we get an message when dealing
    with XML in our application:
Couldn't find library MSVCR80.DLL (required by
    c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE12\MSOXMLMF.DLL)
Copying the DLL to SYSTEM32 or another directory doesn't
    work.
I think it has to do something with the .Net 2.0 framework.
Can anyone tell me more about this.. or beter.. give me a
    solution?
    Thanks!

I am also having problems with my movies suddenly not working
with XML either. These are AS 2.0 web apps that worked great for a
long time, until this past Friday. Is there a Windows update that
is interfering with SWFs and XML docs?

  • Photosmart D7160 just installed office 2007 pages will only print

Just installed office 2007 on my dell with windows xp and every time I try to print in only prints half of less of the page and it keeps reprinting the same page over and over and have no idea how to fix it. Any help would be great thanks

    Hi,
I assume you can print from any other application than Office, please correct me otherwise.
Make sure to install the latest Office Updates and check for any change:
Open Microsoft Office Word 2007 by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting it from the installed programs list.
Click on the office button in the top left of the program and select the "Word Options" button from the bottom of the list. Wait for the "Word Options" dialog box to appear.
Click on "Resources" on the left and then the "Check for Updates" button on the right.
Place a check mark next to the license agreement and click "Next." Choose "Use Recommended Settings" and click "Install." Allow the necessary updates to install and follow any on-screen instructions, if prompted. Restart Microsoft Office Word 2007.
Once completing the update, try printing and check for any change.
    Hope it helps,

Can Office 2007 or 2010 be installed on a Windows Embedded 7 OS?
I looked at the embedded software compatibility site and do not see Office 2007 or 2010 listed on it, only the viewers.  I have not found any documentation online as to why Office isn't on the compatibility list and I would like to read up on the matter.

  • How to install Office 2007 on MacBook?????

I have purchased Office 2007 for my Mac. However, when I put the CD in, the only thing that happens is that the icon appears on the desktop. The CD does not run automatically as it does with a PC. I have opened up the icon for Office 2007, but when I click on the setup icon, still nothing happens.
I am new to Mac and I have to have Office installed for school purposes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was told by an Apple Rep. that Office 07 was compatible with Mac, but did not specify that I needed Office for Mac.
Maybe the rep just assumed you knew that PC software doesn't run on Mac's. In any case, MacOffice 08 is to be released Jan. 15.

  • Trying to install Office 2007

Installing full version from DVD disk.  After clearing product key id, installation routine no longer recognizes DVD drive as location for further installation files.

Download the installer from the web so you can bypass the DVD entirely; you will still need the license key from the DVD to activate.
These are safe installers, I use them myself with no virus, etc issues.

  • I have Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows XP and just got a Macbook Pro. Is there any way to install MO2007 on my new Mac?

Just purchased a new Mac and need Word, etc. etc. I was wondering how to/if I could install the Microsoft Office 2007 disc on my Mac.

The only real reason you might need to install Office 2007 on your Mac is if you need Microsoft Access, and don't want to go through Filemaker Pro for Windows to migrate Access to Filemaker Pro.  Once in Filemaker Pro format, it can be put on Filemaker Pro for the Mac.    Numerous applications for download and online  offer free to nearly free access to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents, including LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Neo Office, Google Docs, and Zoho Docs.   This would be much cheaper than installing a database on your Mac and PC, if Access is not part of the equation.

  • Setup program crashes when you try to install a 2007 Office on a 64-bit version of Windows 7

    Hello there,
I have a Dell Vostro machine with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installed on it. It came with Office 2010 preinstalled on it. About 6 months ago I removed Office 2010 and installed Office 2007 with no problems. Yesterday a user messed up her office so badly
that I had to uninstalled it in an attempt to reinstall to ensure that all missing files exist. A few seconds after selecting my options, the installation program crashes. I tried it with a few different users logged in to make sure it's something related
to the profile of the user I was logged in as.
Just to be clear, this is the same Office 2007 installation that was installed correctly on it about 6 months ago and the same product key.
Why is this happening and how can I fix this issue without having to restore the computer to its default state?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
Please refer to this kb, use Microsoft Fix it 50154 to uninstall Office 2007 completely:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us
    Then try installing again.
We can also perform a clean boot to install, which gets rid of the background program conflicts:

    Hope this can help.

  • Install Access 97 and Office 2007 on Windows 7

Hopefully this is a useful discussion for anyone wanting to run Access 97 on Windows 7 especially if the intention is to also load Office 2007
or 2010 in addition to Access 97.
I have successfully installed Access 97 SR-2 starting from the Office 97 Professional CD for SR-1.
The level of Windows 7 (64 bit Professional Version) was as installed on a new Dell machine in July 2010.
I then loaded Office 2007 as the main office system. As mentioned elsewhere the requirement to also load Access 97 is often dictated by the need to maintain
legacy applications which continue to be run very successfully at this level of software under Windows XP or similar.
The full procedure and list of problems overcome is as follows:-
    1)
Make a custom installation of Office 97 into an Office97 folder selecting only Access and its associated data utilities.
    2)
The error message CTL3D32.DLL not correctly installed – must be installed in the Windows System Directory can be ignored. Should find it is already in the
    Windows\System32 directory.
    3)
If you now run the SR-2b update (SR2bOF97.EXE) for Office 97 it will fail unless you do the following:-
    a.
create two new temporary folders – say folder97 and foldersavefonts
    b.
copy the windows fonts relating to tahoma and comic (4 files) from \windows\fonts to foldersavefonts.
    c.
extract the files from SR2bOF97.EXE to folder97 using Winzip or similar.
    d.
select the four font files relating to Tahoma and comic and right click to then install these fonts in Windows 7.
    e.
if you do not do the above the SR-2 install fails because of a version problem with the fonts.
    f.
now run SR2bOF97.EXE in the normal way. It should be successful – if not the situation is different to mine and the log will need to be viewed to troubleshoot
    the problem
    g.
finally go to foldersavefonts and install these fonts back into Windows 7.
    4)
It is now recommended to run the Jet3 patch
Jet35sp3.exe which can be downloaded from Microsoft.
    5)
At this point you should have a fully working Access 97 system. This procedure should also work for Word, Excel and Powerpoint but not Outlook.
    6)
Now install Office 2007/10 as required preferably a custom installation into an Office20xx folder.
    7)
If you have installed Access 20xx there will be a conflict between the Access 97 and 20xx installations. Both version work fine (ignore the message to rerun setup)
once loaded but Access 97 will need to be run with Administration permissions (right click the short cut and click administrator) after running Access 20xx. In a similar way Access 20xx will rerun its registration processes after running Access 97. This situation
occurs whenever you move between the versions unless you follow the following steps.
    8)
Load Access 20xx to ensure that it is registered.
    9)
Use notepad to create an empty file MSACCESS.SRG – suggest in folder97
    10)
find the Microsoft supplied MSACCESS.SRG – this is installed in the folder name specified in the custom install of Office 20xx. Rename this file to MSACCESS.SRG.SAV.
    11)
Copy in the empty MSACCESS.SRG from folder97 to replace the correct version.
    12)
This trick seems to prevent the conflict between Access 97 and Access 20xx. Remember if any reinstall work is needed for Office 20xx to reinstate the Microsoft
    supplied version.
    13)  There
    is a documented problem
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproappcompat/thread/4f729cea-aafb-4d4a-b863-705a13de486a relating to a UAC issue but this seems to have been corrected in currently shipped builds of Window 7. If the problem does appear there
is a Microsoft supplied fix for the problem.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978591/
    14)
Finally, in case anyone needs to make a clean start in new folders. I have also found that the above procedures are still repeatable after standard uninstalls
of both Office 97 and Office 20xx
    15) If ISAM problems occur with txt or .xls files it is likely that the .DLLs need to be manually registered. To do this use
the command line and type C:\windows\syswow64\regsvr32.exe c:\windows\syswow64\mstext35.dll. This will register mstext35.dll. Then type:- :\windows\syswow64\regsvr32.exe c:\windows\syswow64\msexcl35.dll. This will register msexcl35.dll
If anyone finds additional problems or information would be pleased to see them posted here.

  • Applet failed to open xls file with Firefox and Office 2010 installed (o.s: Windows 7). It works with Office 2007.

I load a signed applet in a web application.
The applet open a xls file when I press the finalize button.
It works correctly in Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari. I have installed Office 2007.
But when I test it in a new pc with Office 2010 installed, it does not work in Firefox browser (it works in IE, Chrome and Safari)
This is the console java error:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: my_file.xls (Access is denied)
The plugin for Microsoft Office 2010 is installed.
    Java Plug-in is 1.6.0_27.
Firefox version: 3.6 and latest version: 7

I search in Bugzilla but not found anything about this.
I test it with Firefox Beta - Aurora and the behaviour is the same.
Is there any bug for Office 2010 in Mozilla Firefox?
    Any suggestion?

  • Problems with MS Office 2007 and Tiger Server

I have an Xserve hosting file services for Macs and PCs. There is a RAID attached to the Xserve storing user data and ACLs are enabled. Since installing Office 2007 on the PCs there's been the following problem which can be replicated -
When saving an Excel or Word document back in the 2007 suite to the Xserve, the user will be unable to save the document if it is saved back for the third time. In Excel 'Unable to save document is reported'. In Word the document can't be saved due to a network error or a file permision problem being reported.
The above is true for existing documents created in Excel or Word 2003, then saved in 2007 versions, which are on the Server, or for documents created using Excel or Word 2007.
Users are logging on with different user accounts. They first log on to a Windows domain hosted by a Small Business Server then a drive has been mapped on their PC, to give thme access to the Xserve.
As I said things were OK until Office 2007 was installed on the PCs.

I'm having the same issue, allowing guest access on the share did change the logs I'm getting in Samba. Earlier on it was giving errors on the inability of guest access to the share.

  • Office 2007 Configuration wizard runs every time I start any Application (word, excel, etc)

    Hi!
I've installed Office 2007 Enterprise on my Vista x64 system, but when I'm
starting any of the Office apps, Office runs a setup/configuration prog
(Office is collecting/gathering setup information or something like that).
    My event log has produced
numerous warnings, on of the more significant is :
    Detection of product '{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}', feature
    'ProductFiles', component '{6252B847-BADA-43D4-9252-E39767FA40A1}'
failed.  The resource 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pip\' does not exist.
I tried to access the HCR\.pip\ key in Regedit and receive the
    following message:
    "Error Opening Key
    ..pip can not be opened.
An error is preventing this key from being opened.
    Details: Access is denied."
I have tried the Windows Installer Clean up utility to remove all
traces of Office, cleaned the registry, reinstalled Office 2007
4 times and still have the install/configuring messages popping up
    upon loading the Office programs..
ANY information would be appreciated !!!
    Thanx a lot @lby

    MAZENS's WAY SOLVED IT
Thanks Mazen, nice move, it has worked out,
[The rest is for 'still-learners' like me, please follow the following :)]
Start Menu->Control Panel->AdministrativeTools->EventViewer (Hurray, we have the so called found event viewer)
    Then hit 'Application', which brings
Type , Date, time, source bla bla window in which the events are listed.
I started reading them one by one. Once you hit a line (information), 'event properties ' window opens. You can see that there are arrow buttons to scroll down and up among the events. And there is the 'description' part in the same window. While scrolling thru all messages (information lines), I came across the follwing messages in the 'description' section:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ServiceLayer ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started.
    Another event's description was:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( gupdate1c99657ceb0c142 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service stopped.
As you may have recognized message mentions about 'Event ID ( 0 )'.
So I followed Mazen's directions and replicated ID_00030.DPC and renamed the replica as ID_00000.DPC
Now it is working without any configuration pop up. By the way, before creating ID_00000.DPC, I had already tried  ID_00011.DPC and ID_00051.DPC. Now I have four .dpc files (0,30,11,51) in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
As Office2007 application is starting fast now, I don't bother about them (i guess/hope it is ok).
    Best wishes,
