Anyone know what I need to install to get Oracle iLearning working on Windows 2000? Any help is needed and appreciated.
The main Downloads index http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html has a section called Applications with a link to the E-delivery site, where you could find both iLearning and EBS with Oracle Learning Management.

Hi.
I need a help with downloading and installing Oracle iLearning.
I have download Oracle iLearning 5.0, and I have Oracle Database 10.2.0.1 and Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. I have installed all of this products. But iLearning does't work. Then I got message from Learning management forum, that Oracle iLearning works only on Oracle Application Server 9.0.4. I want to download it, but I can't find it on the Oracle site.
Tell me please, is there iLearning version, that works on Oracle AS 10g?
Or, what I should do, to work Oracle iLearning? In installation process of Acrobat Professional 7 , its showing that Adobe Pdf printer is not Installed...need help to install the software completely
If it is Win 7 or later, the Adobe PDF printer for AA 7 will not install and AcroTray will not function. You will have to install a PS driver from Adobe or maybe an HP color PS printer driver. Then edit the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILE. You will always have to do an extra step in creating PDFs by opening the file that is created in Distiller to get the PDF.
If you are talking about Win 8, you may not be successful at all. If you got Acrobat and Distiller to install, then there is a chance. -

Is there offline Mavericks help? There should be an option to get it installed. We need help more often than we are online. If there isn't, then idea of only online help is lazy and uncaring of the dealer to clients.
I've done just that.
And another on the finder column bug in list mode.
And a few more in the pipeline if I find the motivation: I'm afraid my long relationship with Apple is flagging. They are excessively focussed on consumer goods and leaving their core business to wither away.
Maybe more serious users aren't profitable to them, and they are happy to let it wither.
So presumably they are happy if we wander off and start focussing on all the open source unixes out there.
p.s. not happy with general Apple trends since about 10.6.8, can anyone tell ? -
Report Printing in Apex 4.x / Oracle Linux - Need Help

I am new to Oracle Application Express tool. I am trying to setup an Oracle Apex environment to start a new application development. So far, I have completed the following:
1. Installed Oracle Linux 6.3
2. Installed Oracle 11g Express (64 bit version). As you know, Oracle Apex is bundled in this.
3. Completed the installation as per the documentation provided, and it works fine (I tried the following).
- Able to connect to the DB via SQL*Net from other machines in the network.
- Able to run Apex from other machines in the network.
- Created new workspace and applications (pages etc) and they work fine.
4. Downloaded the Apache FOP 1.1 binary and extracted the files under /usr (the extract created a directory fop-1.1 under /usr and all fop related files are there under this.
5. Tested the fop by running "fop -fo <input_file> <output file>" from the $ prompt. It works fine.
Now, I am stuck at setting up Report printing. Please note that, other that what is mentioned above, we have no other software installed on the server. Can someone guide me on how I can setup report printing with this software setup? Please help.

With APEX you have two options for configuring a print server for PDF printing. BI Publisher and Apache FOP. The Apache FOP options actually refers to a J2EE app that we ship with APEX (see /utilities/fop/fop.war in your installation folder). This .war file needs to be installed on OC4J and then your APEX instance needs to be pointed to a specific URL in your print configuration, see more details here:

When using the database 11g, you'll also have to enable networking services, which is also covered in the documented I mentioned above..
Given what you outlined in your post, I'm assuming you're using the embedded gateway (built-in web server in the database). As an alternative, you might want to look at the APEX Listener, which actually has FOP built-in, so in your APEX Instance Administration you would only have to select the APEX Listener as the print options, and all the other config steps would not be needed

Solaris 10 x86 5.10 cannot install Oracle 10g (needs 5.9 or less!)
I installed the latest Solaris 10 x86 rev 5.10 and then downloaded the "New" Oracle 10g for Solaris x86 oddly but not suprisingly the "New" Oracle 10g only installs on Solaris 10 x86 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 5.9 GO FIGURE.
Seem there should be a way to fake out the software to see a different version.
Anybody know how to do this?

IMac: Install Java 7 need help!
Hello, I've an iMac with the newest software version, I want to install java 7 on it for a game server, but when I download it from java.com and I install it and start the server, it still says: Computer on java 6, update to 7 to run server. I already tryed to install with Terminal and direct acess to System Library, it shows that java 7 is installed, but I have to delete java 6. When I delete all java versions, apple says I have to install java SE6, what isn't java 7 but java 6! Help please!!!
The Oracle JRE is only a web plugin. If you need server-side Java, you'll have to use the Apple-supplied Java 6 runtime, or else the Oracle JDK (which is not a drop-in replacement for Apple's Java.) If your server application depends on Java 7, you'll most likely have to run it on another operating system.

so what do you recommend?I would probably reinstall the Manager, which re-initializes the repository. Just remember to save the UUID and when you runInstaller to pass the UUID with the -u parameter.
BTW, out of interest, can you please restart your Oracle VM Manager and then email me the AdminServer.log that gets generated from startup to when you login and try to start a guest? The log can be found here:

[Oracle 8i] Need help pruning branches from a hierarchical query
My problem is that my hierarchical query seems only to trim out the values that don't meet my criteria, but still includes their children. When my query hits a record that does not meet my criteria, I want it to stop there. I've tried including the criteria in just the 'where' clause of the query, and have also put the criteria in the 'connect by' clause as well, but nothing has fixed it. Please keep in mind I'm using Oracle 8i, so I can't use some of the 'nicer' statements for hierarchical queries that they introduced in 9. I'm stuck with 'Start With...Connect By'.

Stand alone oracle report - need help asap

We are in ORACLE Apps 11i. We started using ORACLE BI Publisher to create templates for the Oracle Reports. How we are doing reports now is
1) create data definition XML which has all the queries embedded.
2) Create Data definition in XML Publisher Admin responsibility.
3. Attach the Data definition XML to that.
4. Create a concurrent program definition for the report with XML Type and run the report and save the data file with tags.
5. Create the template ,rtf in Word and export data using ORACLE BI Publisher. 6. Create template definition in the XML Publisher Admin responsibility and attach this .rtf to that and run the report.
Now I have a requirement stating that the REPORT SHOULD BE AN ORACLE STAND ALONE REPORT AND THE REPORT NEEDS TO BE RUN THROUGH CONCURRENT PROGRAM SCREEN. I am planning on doing the following steps.
1. I have to create an .rdf using report builder.
2. Create concurrent program executable and definition for the report.
3. Create data definition in XML Publisher admin responsibility.
4. Run the report in apps.
5. Create the tempalte .rtf in word and export data with the XML Data file with tags,
6. Run the report.
Am I correct? Any help is appreciated asap.

New Oracle DBA - Need help with backup & restore procedure via RMAN

I've been a SQL Server DBA for 12 years now, but new to the Oracle space. My first assignment at work was to refresh our training environment with production. So with that said, I took a full backup of our production database via RMAN and backed up the Control File. The CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP was set to ON but received a message that the database needed to be mounted, so, I mounted the database and made the changes, but when I shutdown the database and performed the startup nomount again, the settings were gone. Are these settings valid only when the database is mounted? How can I successfully refresh this training environment with production data? I'm at a standstill here so any help would be very much appreciated.

These settings are persistent settings.So these information retain in control files.To reading information from control files database instance must be MOUNT or OPEN stage.Due to you have mount instance and try SHOW ALL command through RMAN.

There are several ways like duplication.But you take full backup from production database using BACKUP DATABASE through rman.In this case you will get also AUTOBACKUP for controlfiles/spfiles.Then copy these backup files and all available archive logs to training server and perform below steps.
1) You have set properly ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID environment variable.After that first need restore spfile as
rman target /
startup force nomount;
restore spfile from 'autobackup_location';
startup force nomount;2) Now you have to restore controlfiie as
rman>restore controlfile from 'autobackup_location';
rman>alter database mount;
3) Now need catalog(it means register) all backup files and archivelogs in new restored controlfile as
rman>catalog start with 'backuplocation';
4) Finally you can restore and recover your database as below
rman>restore database;
rman>recover database;
rman>alter database open resetlogs;
If you want restore database to new location then before executing RESTORE DATABASE command you can use SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE clause.Firstly refer backup recovery guide in online documentation. -

Yet I have (MB 5,1) Boot ROM version MB51.007D.B03. Weird again!
What a mess Apple. Considering how important firmware updates are you'd think they could make this a little clearer.

I downloaded PowwerDirector 12 trial and when I try to open it, I got a message that "CyberLink PowerDirector was not compatible to Mac". After some inquiries, I found that I need Winows software operating system to be install in Mac! Can sombody help me?
For Windows on a Mac you'd have to own a Windows retail system installer with keycode, and use BootCamp utility in the Mac OS X to set up a partition on the computer hard disk drive (issues? if you have Apple Fusion Drive where a SSD + HDD are automatically co-joined) and then install the Windows system there.
Or get & use Parallels, or VMFusion software and use it along with Windows to run applications written for a Windows OS. And would need to have a large internal hard disk drive with plenty of room since the space for Windows takes away space for Mac OS X and its applications to run; and also you'd need plenty of chip RAM installed to run this other System plus software... and for Windows, its own anti-virual software not needed at all in a Mac.
Not sure about this, http://www.wondershare.com/video-editor/mac/ suggests in their advert to be something to use if you can't use the cyberlink product.
Or don't want to buy the upscale or pro Apple image software that does a fine job at a cost. I'd try & avoid running Windows in a Mac even though it can run three or more different OS, including linux/unix builds.
Never heard of either one: wondershare or cyberlink powerdirector.
(the latter looked 'more pro' for windows)
{But check for any hint of some odd effects before you get and install any software from a marginal or unknown source, since adware can follow, and really odd things can start to happen then, like search engine redirects.}
Anyway, helpful information about your computer and its current configuration, OS X version, RAM installed, hard disk drive specs (free vs used capacity) are numbers that can make a difference going into a new thing. Even Mavericks alone is not an upgrade, often that requires a bunch of extra chip RAM capacity.
Not sure if this helps, another may offer more direct ideas...
