  • Installation Error During Configuration Assistants

    Hello all.
    I'm attempting to install Oracle SES on Windows XP. Beyond the Oracle® Secure Enterprise Search Installation Guide, I really don't know what I'm doing. The installation process runs fine until it gets to the Oracle Universal Installer: Configuration Assistants. Namely, the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant is the one causing problems. When it starts it doesn't make it very far before I'm assaulted with errors:
    ORA-12638 Credential retrieval failed
    Of which I can ignore or abort. If I ignore every one that pops up, the configuration assistant finished "successfully," but then I can't log in to the Administration Tool page. So I'm inclined to suspect that the configuration assistant wasn't successful at all. I've followed the installation guide and a tutorial and I'm rather clueless as to what I'm doing wrong (or what I'm failing to do). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    But when i use those url i'm getting error message and page not displayed
    What errors are you getting?
    Why I'm getting this message once the installation is successful. All the the three services are installed and starting properly without any error
    So you're running on Windows? Do you have a fixed IP address? If not, did you install the Loopback Adapter as specified in the installation guide for Windows?
    Also I have few doubts regarding installation, 1. Do i need to have Oracle Databse on my machine before the installation as it is not mentioned anywhere in the prerequisite. When I'm starting the midtier it gives me error while connecting to sqlplus for invalid userid/passowrd. Still the process goes through and midtier starts. Is that is a problem that my page is not displayed?
    No, you don't need a database on the machine. SES installs its own internal database. It sounds like it's unable to start the database - possibly because of the NTS problem referred to above, or possibly because you don't have a Loopback Adapter installed.
    +2. Does SES installs its own database while installation Or a client? Because i have not given any user id and password while installing then how does it tries to connect while starting the midtier.+
    Yes, it installs its own database. The password for SYS, SYSTEM and EQSYS are set to the password you supplied during installation.
    +3. If it does installs a internal database then how to access that database if we are not aware of the user id and password?+
    See above. If you want to connect manually to the database (which shouldn't normally be necessary) you can use SYS AS SYSDBA, SYSTEM or EQSYS with the password you supplied. Note that unlike most default Oracle installations, you CANNOT connect using "sqlplus / as sysdba" - you should use "sqlplus sys as sysdba" to create a sysdba connection.

    Hello,

    only thing is check your system and your freiends system are in the network..
    ping your freinds system and check you get a proper resopnse.
    Also check whether listener is up at you freiends system.(lsnrctl status). if not up start.
    Ty again. it should work.

    Hello,
    I arrived on this thread by trying to install Oracle Portal 11.1.1.2 from scratch.
    My environment is just for evaluating, so it is a vm with 6GB of RAM on 64b architecture.
    I've installed so far:
    OS: OEL5.6 - 64b
    DB: 11.1.0.7 -64b
    AS: Weblogic - [10.3.5 from JAR, as this is available for 64b|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html]
    OID - [11.1.1.2|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/oid-11g-161194.html]
    so until now everything went pretty smooth.
    Further according to the install guide for portal , I needed to install SSO.
    So I continued to install the mrcu(metadata repository ) which went fine
    MRCU: [10.1.4.3.1|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html]
    Further I for SSO and DAS I've started to install following document:1069426.1
    SSO+DAS : 10.1.4.1
    Installing this I've get next error

  • BISE Configuration Assistent failed

    When installing BISE-one everything runs fine until the end of the installation: Running the COnfiguration Assistent.
    Invoking configuration assistant
    Execution successful
    Unlock Accounts
    Establish connection with the database
    Execution failed
    The "E:\oracle\bise1b\cfgtoollogs\configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI.
    When giving a retry a window pops up with the message:
    The Oracle System Identified (SID) "bise1db" already exists. Specify another SID.
    The file above (configToolFailedComands) is calling: "E:\oracle\bise1b\db\install\bise1config.bat"
    This file (bise1config.bat) contains:
    @echo off
    set PATH=E:\oracle\bise1b\db\jdk\bin;%PATH%;
    set CLASSPATH=E:\oracle\bise1b\db\install\config\BISE1Config.jar;E:\oracle\bise1b\db\oui\jlib\OraInstaller.jar;E:\oracle\bise1b\db\oui\jlib\classes12.jar;E:\oracle\bise1b\db\oui\jlib\ojmisc.jar;E:\oracle\bise1b\db\oui\jlib\ewt3.jar;E:\oracle\bise1b\db\oui\jlib\share.jar;%CLASSPATH%;
    javaw -client oracle.as.config.bise1.BISE1ConfigAssistant E:\oracle\bise1b\db\install\config\bise1ca.rsp
    The command "javaw..." is generating a java-error and ends with the message:
    The Oracle System Identified (SID) "bise1db" already exists. Specify another SID.
    Question1: How should i be able to change the SID at this point?
    The java-error is:
    Command = E:\oracle\bise1b\db\install\bise1config.bat has failed
    Execution Error : BISE1 Configuration Assistant failed

    Remark: "tnsping bise1db" is working find.
    Question2: How to check this jdbc-connection.
    Question3: Where are jdbc-settings being configured?

    Hi there
    Please provide administrative privileges to the file "E:\oracle\bise1b\db\install\bise1config.bat" (by right-clicking on the file, choosing properties and selecting "security" tab) and then retry. This should solve the problem.
    Thanks

    Does anyone have any ideas as to why I'm recieving this error?

    This is an RDBMS related forum, so this thread will not have too much echo here, I suggest you to post it at the Fusion Middleware / OC4J J2EE forum.
    Any way, as a first approach, by following the requirements stated at the installation manual you should be able to install the OC4J instance without tampering with this specific variables.
    As a good advice, specify the OS you are trying to install to and the product versions.
    Why do you mention the DISPLAY environment and then you post Windows paths?

    Hi,
    Once again My advice is just to install AS first then Db.
    Ok about Your problem did U read pre-install steps?.
    On metalink.oracle.com U can get pre-install scripts for linux.
    What this script exactly do, it checks everything for U before installation.
    ex. file system, libraries, patches.
    Here U get the link,
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:2005961391719325579::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,283749.1,1,1,1,helvetica
    OR just go to http:// metalink.oracle.com, then search for pre-install script
    U 'll get different kinds of scripts for different OS.
    select the script which suitable for your OS.
    Run this script & check your output. if U get any error just try to repair this before U start the installation.
    Hear from U,
    Regards,
    Hamdy

    Did you check what's in D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_3\opmn\logs\HTTP_Server~1.log file? Also check what error is reported in D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_3\Apache\Apache\logs\error.log file.
    Thanks
