Installing package with -U and Ignoring Signatures

If I want to install a package using -U but the package isn't signed, can I tell pacman to SigLevel = Never for this one transaction, rather than having to edit pacman.conf, install, then change pacman.conf back?
# pacman -U http://www.example.com/foobar-20130417-1-any.pkg.tar.xz

why this is Trusted by default??
Do you trust yourself?
in this case is unnecesary have a LocalFileSigLevel because a common person Trust in their/yourself and if one going to install any from a local file, what is the point of have this if one troust in theirself

If you have a pgp key, you can sign the packages with your own key. You can do this by editing /etc/makepkg.conf, adding your key to the  GPGKEY="" section and enabling the sign option in the BUILDENV section. When building the package, it'll then be signed with your personal key. Afterwards import your key in pacman (pacman-key -r <yourkey>), assign the proper trust level and you're good to go.
A workaround is to temporarily set "SigLevel = Never" in your /etc/pacman.conf (and hence disabling keysigning).
EDIT: I just bothered to actually check your link and you'll be installing prebuilt binaries, so my first explanation doesn't apply there (you won't be building anything). So just setting SigLevel to Optional or Never (temporarily) should do.

  • Install package with extra switches

Is it possible to install a package with extra switches that you would normally give with the configure command?

vinyl wrote:Is it possible to install a package with extra switches that you would normally give with the configure command?
this is what srcpac was made for - run "pacman -S srcpac" and then check out the man page (there's alot to explain)
however, as noted, you're going to have to recompile the app, but it's not all that hard with srcpac.... you add the additional line in srcpac.conf and run "srcpac -S some_app"... if there is no line in srcpac.conf, srcpac installs the app through pacman... it's very cool
for the record, if the repos had one package for every switch, they would grow to huge proportions... imagine 20 vim packages, one for each flag... and that's just vim... KDE and gnome would make the repos hit huge proportions...

  • When installing Arch, the install packages error's and says 'could not

I am trying to install Arch on virtual box but when I try to run install packages (base+base-devel) it always throws 'installation failed'. When I look for the problem, it says 'could not satisfy depencies.'.
Prior to this, Arch had problems in downloading few packages from a mirror but it seems to have gotten every package when I tried several different mirrors.
    Screenshot of the problem: http://i.imgur.com/7KWAk.png
I have checked the mirror status from here http://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/ and tried following mirrors:
    ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/
    ftp://mirror.archlinux.fi/archlinux/
    ftp://ftp.lysator.liu.se/pub/archlinux/
    http://mirror.academica.fi/archlinux/

Check the md5 of the image, and check your vbox settings, so that you have enough hdd and mem, and that the partitions are big enough and then install base(+base-devel if wanted) and don't enable any of the repos other than the local core repo, and this should work, as i've tested the images many times latelly...
Edit: I see from your screenshot that you're downgrading alot of packages e.g. kernel 3.1.5 to 3.0.3, and that must be because you've first tried installing from the net, and then when something failed, you've gone back and deselected net-install and choosed to install from local core repo, which would do that then, so my advice is simply to start over(reboot), or again remake your blockdevices, so there's insn't allready a bunch of packages with wrong versions installed...

  • Install Packages with a schedule (repeating)

When I make a (for example) package Office 2008 SP2 update and make a schedule for a computer group and click "Repeating every 1 Days" on so that Macs that are outside the company get the update when they login the network the next day or week. I notice that Mac's who received the update the next day they received the update the day after this again (settings of the install package) I there a way that Mac's who received a update don't get that update again? or must i manually removed the Mac's who received the update?

Basically, the construct $(command) takes the output of command and inserts it into the outside command...
    for example,
    if pidof xyz outputs 1248,
    kill $(pidof xyz)
    is identical to
    kill 1248
There is a similar older construct that uses backtics (that's the one under the tilde, not the apostrophe), so that
    kill `pidof xyz`
is identical to the above.  The new construct $() is more useful because it's easier to nest multiple commands as in
    command 1 $(command2 $(command 3))
if that ever needed to be done.
So what the original command did was insert the output of the 'cat pkg.txt' command in the commandline.

  • Installing a package with "-S" and few versions available

What if I install from some repo "pacman -S app" and there are few versions of "app" and I don't concretize it for pacman? What version will it install? I know that with "-U" I can tell it what version to install. But how does "-S" behave without concretizing?

You can specify the repository you want pacman to use.
    pacman -S repo/program
Or you can specify the version:
    pacman -S program=version

-newzone- was configured to be a whole root zone. Are there any ways to solve these installation errors?
    Thanks in advance.

This problem seems some strange - this time with Solaris 10u4, from 10 containers installed on a brand new X2200 (2x cpu) only one do not output those errors, but just this one cannot install the dsee or proxy. This time the errors were from:
Installation of <SUNWxwplr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWdtdmr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWmconr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWrmwbr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWlvmr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWzebrar> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
So the machine was, too, just installed. After several hours, anoter atempt to install a zone, this time just this one, returned no errors - and the dsee installed without any complains. All configurations were for whole root zones. Used was Solaris 10u4 with the most recent patch cluster applied.

  • Installed packages with root

    Hi!
I accidently installed a couple of applications when i was logged in as root.
Is there a way to make the root account as it is from the beginning without installing arch all over again?

RaisedFist wrote:Still, all packages are installed as root. If he means he was running some apps with root, then he has to switch back to his user and just start the application.
Exactly, unless root holds permissions to some files that need to be read by those apps - they won't run then.
Let's wait for the OP to respond what exactly the problem is and what are the symptoms :-)

  • Clean install Mavericks with Mail and Apps?

What is the most efficient method to do a full clean install of Mavericks (once it is released) and then migrate Apple Mail, Applications and Dropbox from my existing Mountain Lion setup on my late 2009 27" iMac?
    Thanks
    Henry

You probably won't need to do that. As with all previous versions of the MacOS, you will be able to simply install Mavericks over the top of the older OS. All of your applications, folders, documents, internet connection data, stored passwords, cookies, etc. will be left exactly as they were before. Mavericks itself will update any existing system files that need to be updated.
However (as is always advisable with any update of the OS) before attempting to install Mavericks you should first make a complete bootable clone (not a Time Machine backup) of your existing hard drive, to an external drive, and test the clone by booting from it.
That way after you've installed Mavericks, if anything bad happens, you still have a safety net.
Only at that point, if you really want to spend hours doing a completely clean install of Mavericks, re-installing all your applications etc., you can do so by wiping your internal hard drive and then installing from scratch - though I'm wondering why you would want to do that .
You will still have all your stuff on your bootable clone.
If things are really bad and you just hate Mavericks, you can simply start up using the clone and clone the whole external drive back to your internal hard drive - taking you back to exactly where you were before.

  • Install problems with CC and LR5 CC

The CC install has Photoshop CC listed and is install it but I don't see LR CC.  How do I install the CC version of LR5?
I'm on a 6 core MacPro tower running OS 10.9 and the full orig versions of PS6 and LR5 are already installed.

Zaptrack I am responding to your private message in this discussion as it is relevant.
The current version of Lightroom available is Lightroom 5.2.  This is the version currently included with the Photoshop and Lightroom membership.  If you already have an exisiting license for Lightroom then you can continue to utilize your previous installation.  If you wish to remove your perpetual license and begin to utilize the license for Photoshop Lightroom included with your membership then you will need to remove and reinstall the software.   You can find more details on how to remove and reinstall the software included with your Photoshop and Lightroom Membership at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.

  • Installing coldfusion with jrun4 and Apache2

    Hi everyone,
I want to install Cold Fusion 7.02 within Jrun 4 (already
installed) and with apache 2 (already installed)
basically I want all my cold fusion files (like cfide and my
websites) to be in the apache 2 htdocs folder (/opt/apache2/htdocs)
I am using Solaris 10 (Sparc edition)
I am unable to find any documentation on how to do this. the
one good documentation I found places the htdocs somewhere that I
    do not want to use.
Can anyone point me into the correct area?
I have already installed cold fusion and created the WAR
    file.
    Thank you
    Luc

Assume a website name Test1 that is on Apache2 and you want to run it with CF 10 standard and a website name Test2 that is present in IIS which you also want to run with this CF 10 standard.
So yes, it is possible. Every website that you configure individually with IIS has  a unique folder name (say 1, 2, 3 and so on.)
You need to run the Web Server Configuration Tool (wsconfig.exe) and add the IIS website/Websites one by one  that you want to add. Every website will run with it's connector files present in the number folder 1,2,3 and so on (C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig)
After 5th minute in this video the same is happening : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHhSPTmRozM
Now you will need to run the wsconfig.exe and this time choose Apache and add the connector. Follow this video : http://blogs.coldfusion.com/post.cfm/video-configuring-coldfusion-10-connector-with-apache -virtual-hosts

  • USB2.0 Install Troubles With WinXP and KT3 Ultra2?

I installed WinXP (Fresh) on my system with the KT3 Ultra2 board in it. I had ACPI (Plug and Play OS Installed) turned OFF in the bios, and I have all 6 USB ports enabled in bios (legacy support off).
Upon installing WinXP and the SP1 full update (~130mb file I believe), I check the device manager to see what was up so far. I had several yellow exclamation marks, but two of the three were expected (onboard audio and my video card had no drivers yet). But the third one threw me... Under "Other devices" I had "USB Host Controller" listed....
So I installed the Via 4in1's version 4.43 using the "quick install" option. Check device manager, same result. Mr. Steveo suggested I try right clicking the controller in the device manager and choosing to "update driver". I did, and it automatically updated the driver and placed it in the USB section of the device manager (with the other USB entries).
The problem is, the device name seems weird: "Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" instead of something like "USB2.0 PCI to USB Host Controller" or something like that. The yellow exclamation mark is gone, but I just dont know if this is the correct device setup or not.
Can any of you other Ultra2 owners tell me if this is what you have in your USB controller list, and if not, how did you install WinXP to get to the point where you had the "correct" listing? Maybe it makes a difference whether ACPI is turned on during install or something?
I tried to run the Via USB2.0 driver file (7011Kb) from the MSI site to see if it would help, but it quits the install and says that the SP1 update drivers are newer and should not be updated with this driver.
Any suggestions or comments are very much appreciated.

I tried "Uninstalling" the USB controller as was suggested in the forum, but it won't let itself be removed.
When I try "Search for new hardware" it shows a message that an error occurred when installing the hardware, and that the hardware is not properly configured (Code 1). It suggests that I re-install the driver. When I select "re-install driver",  I just get another error message. It asks me if I have a CD or disk wit drivers, but I can't find anything appropriate on the driver disk I got with the motherboard.
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?

Hi, yours is 845E MAX2 motherboard, you should use Intel USB2.0 drivers .
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php
And don't use "search for new hardware", instead you manually point the drivers location to where you extracted the downloaded file. Sometimes WinXP drivers search is "blind"  8)
