Installing SQL server AlwaysOn in hybrid solution

Hi,
I am trying to build a HA solution with SQL 2014 and AlwaysOn. My setup is 3 servers on prem and 1 server in Windows Azure with site-to-site VPN in between. My idea is to use the Azure replica as an async copy of some databases that resides on prem.
There is currently some guidence on the web how to setup this listener configuration using powershell and probe configuration. This works fine and the database on prem replicates to the secondary copy in Azure and the listener can do
a failover to the Azure replica. All great so far.
My question is now: How can I have a second Availability Group=Secondary listener configured between the same Machines?
Or is it a limitation to this setup, that you can only configure ONE listener to a SQL server within a cloud service in Azure?
I guess the limitation will be the same if both machines are located in Azure?

Yes. Only one availability group listener is supported per cloud service because the listener is configured to use the cloud service IP address.

If you are using any system account then password is not needed. From the screenshot I see NT Authority\.... so you don't need password.

Overlapped I/O error 997 installing SQL Server 2014 Express on Windows Server 2012 R2

I'm attempting to install SQL Server 2014 Express on a Windows Server 2012 R2 system. When I do the install, it fails (several times) with an "Error: 997. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.". From searching the web, I can see many people
have had this problem with this installer and other non-SQL server installers.
I've tried every solution I can find discussed, but none help with my problems The system is fully updated, with the exception of the KB2538243 (VC 2008 SP1 redist), which is probably failing for the same reason.
I've tried removing several updates mentioned in other articles (KB2918614). I've confirmed that I'm not using a temporary profile.
Does anyone have an idea of how I can solve this issue?

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I've already tried that. I did try it again and I get an "This update is not applicable to your computer."

Can I run a soft without install sql server?

I just wrote a winform C# program and use SQL server 2012 for data.
Can I run this program on other machine without install sql server ?
If I can't. Are there other program simpler than sql server help me run it ?

Agree with Nicolas. You need to modify connection string to point to proper server name. This might help in getting proper name of instance.

Unable to install SQL Server CE Server Tool on SQL Server 2000 SP 4

I am facing problem with installing SQL Server CE Server Tool,
I have installed SQL Server 2000 SP 4 which is working fine.
While i am running Setup of "SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition version 2.0" ,Developer tools installed successfully but incase of SQL Server CE Server Tool i am getting following Error
"SQL Server CE Tool is compatible only with SQL Server 2000 Service pack 1 and higher.
When you install SQL Server CE Server Tools on a computer running both IIS and SQL Server 2000 , ensure the installer for SQL Server CE Server Tools corresponds To the version of SQL Server 2000."
I am sure that i have running SQL Server 2000 SP 4 (MSDE also SP 4) , IIS (Version 5.1) is also working fine , and one more thing i am trying to install SQL Server CE Server Tool setup is "sqlce20sql2ksp4.exe" (Which i downloaded from microsoft site.).Here all the requirement is fulfill but i dont know what is going to wrong.
I wasted my 2 days behind solving this issue , now i am tiered ,So please any one have solution for this issue.

I get multiple errors when i install SQL server 2012 SP1 In my lab server.
Not sure why i keep getting different errors all the time when i install SQL server 2012 & 2012 SP1.

Error when installing SQL Server 2014 Express

I am running a Win 8.1 desktop 64bit (fully updated) with already installed SQL Server 2012 and Visual Studio 2010 and 2013 (non Express versions). I need to keep SQL Server 2012 for development purposes but also need SQL Server 2014 for a database
provided to me by others which needs this version. I found out it should be possible to run the two versions side-by-side. During installation of SQL Server 2014 Express I selected all features except 'Local Db' and used a named instanc
e. The setup runs through without any notice of problems but at the end fails with error code 1638 the reason being 'Error installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Redistributables'. Also at the end a window pops up mention 'The working of SQL Server
2014 stopped - Trying to find a solution'. Doing nothing on my part the window disappears and nothing else happens. So I uninstalled any 'Redistributable' and ran setup again. Same result though both 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable
- x86 9.0.30729.4974' and 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable - 10.0.40219' re-appear in Control Panel as being

roperly installed! All features are marked as 'failed' with one and the same error 1638. Even tried just upgrading to see if that would work but also here same error.

Error 1638 means another version of the product is already installed. Probably you have a 32-bit version installed but
the installation requires a 64-bit version of VC.
Try to manually install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of each VC.

Error Calculating InstanceID when installing SQL Server 2012 SP1 on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Hello...
I know this issue has been on several tickets but I have not been able to find a satisfactory solution. I am receiving error 0x85640001 "...error calculating instanceid" when I attempt to install SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition DVD.
I have downloaded the ISO for the enterprise evaluation product and tried burning it to a DVD-RW and decompressing the ISO to my desktop for installation without success.
The log files do state the setup process runs into a badimageformat exception.
I had SQL Server 2008 Developer edition installed on this laptop, but I have completely removed all prior SQL Server instances (using the uninstall wizard in Control Panel).
Please let me know what you suggest to correct this problem.

I tried installing as adminstrator and in compatability mode with Windows 7/Vista but that didn't work. Trying to install from the dvd or from the extracted files in my drive made no difference.
I am now wondering if there is a download link for SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer edition with SP2 included (i.e. not just SP2 but the whole application (5GB+) otherwise I am not sure how to install this.

As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.

Can't figure out how to install sql server for PHP

I am trying to install SQL Server for PHP on a server with Server 2008 32 bit. The exe from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20098 keeps tell me that it is an invalid win32 application. I've tried running as administrator
as well. Somewhere I read you need to open the exe with 7zip. I was able to do that and see all the files in there, but where do I go from there?

SQL Server AlwaysOn Failover threshold and Lease Timeout

Hi experts,
I found each time when I were building/restoring another log shipping(standby) server. It would cause ERR [RES] SQL Server Availability Group: [hadrag] Failure detected, diagnostics heartbeat is lost(in cluster log) and A connection timeout has occurred on a previously established connection to availability replica 'DL980-4' with id(in errorlog). I google and find a document (http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/F/B/0FBFAA46-2BFD-478F-8E56-7BF3C672DF9D/Troubleshooting%20SQL%20Server%20AlwaysOn.pdf ) indicated that “This may be a performance issue”. I run restore database and AlwaysOn synchronizing on the same 10GbE link at the same time.
Should I increase
leaseTimeout from 20000 to 100000 and
HealthCheckTimeout from 30000 to 300000?
Does it work to prevent unnecessary failover.

we seem to see lease expires very frequently when the server is under very high cpu pressure .. our failure condition level is 1
is it possible to prevent this situation . the problem is when lease expires,all the current connections seem to be dropped . wondering if there is a way to prevent this ..

1. you can increase the timeout parameter, but when the fail-over time slight delay will be there (its a work around solution)
2. You may require to check the Network connections. (Cluster Heartbeat & public network)
3. Have you update the latest patches of OS & DB?
4. If possible raise the ticket to Microsoft. they may give some update for Cluster resource update based on your issue
