Installing Workshop Studio on Vista jdk1.5.0_09

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone who has been through this can help. I've followed all of the instructions on setting the path, tried to run the exe from the console, but nothing works. The installer fails and gives me "invalid runtime". WHen I queried my java version in the console it said:
Java version 1.5.0_09
Java <TM> 2 Runtime environment, standard edition <build 1.5.0_09-b03>
Java Hotspot <TM>Client VM <build 1.5.0_09-b03, mixed mode, sharing>
I've disabled the user access control in vista to avoid potential probles (I find the UAC very annoying lol) but the problem does not appear to be with Vista, but with the installer finding my jre. How do I resolve this? Everything appears to be installed and configured correctly...am I missing something?

This is a known issue on Vista. The workaround is very simple -
Right Click on the installer > Properties - Compatibility options - choose to run as compatible with XP.

Problem Workshop Studio 3.3 Installer

Hello,
Today I tried to install Workshop Studio 3.3 on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
Unfortunately the installer immediately breaks, stating problems with some shared objects like libc.so.6, librt.so.1, etc.
How could that be, I'm pretty sure, the libs are there:
# locate libc.so.6
/lib/libc.so.6
/lib/i686/nosegneg/libc.so.6
/lib64/libc.so.6
Tried to install as root and my actual user, no difference.

I edited the Workshop bin install file with an hex editor, changed "LD_ASSUME_KERNEL" by "XD_ASSUME_KERNEL" and everything works !"

Silent install of BEA Workshop Studio 10.1?

HELP!
How do I script a silent install of BEA Workshop Studio 10.1? The instructions for BEA Workshop Studio 3.3 don't work. I've figured out that I need a silent.xml, but what options should I put in there? Is there any documentation?

NOTE: If you are a licensed customer (i.e. if you are using properties WLWIDE_ORDER_ID & WLWIDE_SERIAL_NO) then in addition you need the following workaround:
After Silent installation, edit Studio10.1\workshop_10.1\workshopStudio\eclipse\plugins\com.bea.workshop.product.wstudio_1.0.1 - ins.properties and modify "trial=false" - Save
- Now, when you launch the Studio the license activation takes place in the background (you need to restart the workshop)

Workaround: BEA Workshop studio installation with JRockit

If JRockit is your primary JVM (i.e., JRockit is the only JVM installed OR JRockit appears before the Sun JVM in the PATH environment variable), the Workshop Studio installer will fail with the error message:
"Can't launch executable. Could not load jvm.dll
Try re-installing the Java VM or change the Java VM used by the application"
WORKAROUND:
To resolve this error, create a new folder <JRockit>/jre/bin/client and in this folder make a duplicate copy of the contents of the folder <JRockit>/jre/bin/jrockit. Then run the Workshop Studio installer again.

I had beehive working earlier with tomcat. I moved tomcat directory so it is not working anymore.

15 day bea workshop studio 3.0- error with pageflow demo

downloaded the 15day trial end-to-end workshop studio, plugin for eclipse..
installed the bea workshop studio 3.0
gave eclipse 3.1-home and jdk1.5 home
when starting studio 3, get the following error:
"An error has occurred when creating this editor" ....
I see that a pageflowdemo project is highlighted.
how to get over this error ?

Installing Sun Studio 12 on Ubuntu 8.04

When I try to install Sun Studio 12 with the graphical installer, I get a message half was through that Java is not installed. In my case Sun's Java was already installed. I tell the Sun Studio installer to do the update and it finished what it was doing. After the install is done, I found that the Sun Studio executable is missing, so it looked like the installation did not work. What version of Java is Sun Studio expecting and does it need to be tied to a specific path? Is there a known method for installing Java for Sun Studio 12?
After this I uninstalled Java and Netbeans and started the system prep tool, which correctly said I was missing netbeans and java. I had the system prep tool install netbeans successfully but I get this message when trying to install java:

I could not find any log files with error information from Express or Sun Studio 12. Any ideas?Not yet :-) Can you try to build and debug a sample project? Does it show the same problem?
I mean one of several sample projects, that are shipped with the Sun Studio IDE.
Start "sunstudio", from main menu: "File->New Project", select Samples->C/C++/Fortran->Welcome
Did you try to run compilers and other tools?
Please, make sure they work. For example, run the following commands:
cc -V
CC -V
f90 -V
collect -V
dbx -V
dmake -v
(Note: the last one is small "v")

this should be working (at least it does on my machine).
Have you booted the machine after JDK installation? If yes,
please do the following:
Start > Run > cmd.exe [or command.exe, depending
on version of your Windows; I assume you're on Windows :)]
then type
java -version
and hit Enter key. Does this show any output?

How to install sun studio 12 under Centos 5???

I am trying to install Sun Studio 12 into Centos 5. The followings are what I did:
1. Download sun studio 12 package by selecting Linex (x86) for Centos from web site and save this package under /var/tmp.
2. I used bzcat to unpack this package by:
bzcat < SunStudio12ml-linux-x86-200709-pkg.tar.bz2 | /bin/tar xvf -
3. I did prepare_system before installation by:
./prepare_system [-d /opt/sun/ ] [-R /var/tmp/ ] [-C | -s netbeans | java | patches | all_patches | jdk_patches | all | print_needed_steps ]
where [-d /opt/sun/ ] is the directory where all missing softwares will be installed, [-R /var/tmp/ ] is the directory where unpacked programs are saved.
After running prepare_system, the resposes are:

According to your suggestions, I downloaded JDK 6 update 10 RC, specifical in Linux platform : self-extracting JDK file named:

I saved downloading under the directory where sun studio is located.

Running Workshop Studio on Mac Os X

Hi,
Has anybody managed to run Workshop Studio on Mac OS X?
I was able to install v3.3 with Linux installer, but when launching eclipse the "enter serial number" dialog appears, and after about 1 second the JVM dies.
Any ideas appreciated,

NOTE: Workshop Studio isn't supported on Mac OS. Here are some pointers for a workaround (if any):
- Before proceeding, check if the installation was successful - <Workshop-Studio>Workshop_InstallLog.log
- Check the following logs for errors/exceptions:
workspace\.metadata\.log
workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com.m7.nitrox\wstudio.0.log- What version of JDK is configured on your system? You can find this info in .log file (search for java.version & java.vendor)

SAP Netweaver Developer Studio on Vista

Can I install the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio on Windows Vista?

You can very well install Netweaver Developer Studio on Vista. The issue which you might face on Vista is, that if you do not have full administrator access to your computer, you won't be able to change the host file.

Also If you look at the microsoft support forum the only installation pbm with Visual Studio with Vista is toshiba laptop satelitte related
Ok now, as it's my job, here is what I think :
Maybe the laptop was first setup with XP and maybe Tshiba reseler did install Vista on it as a migration !
First case
So to be absolutly sure it wasn't the case I did a format of my HDD and reinstalled vista from the Toshiba Crash and recovery CD
Second case
The problem remain, so it is possible that this Recovery CD and/or any other Toshiba product create this problem !!!!
Note that the C# or J# express just work fine, it's only the Visual Studio 2008 tem suite and pro

Installing visual studio

I am very new to WPF and currently doing a on-line course to learn more about WPF and the .NET framwork. I wonder if there is a person may know about installing visual studio would be the IDE which I need to install on my machine.
I currently have Windows Vista on my machine at home and I wondered if this would be suitable for installing the Microsoft Developer tool.

SAPinst is having problems starting up.
Please post the sapinst.log file from C:\Program Files\sapinst_dir
Make sure you do the following.
1.) Turn off Windows Firewall
2.) Turn off UAC (http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm)
3.) Install right version of JRE/JDK (1.4.2 Update 29)
4.) Set the correct User Environment Variables (JAVA_HOME, SAPSYSTEMNAME)
5.) Delete all SAP folders/contents in TEMP folder of your user profile (C:/Users/ULRICH~1.HNP/AppData/Local/Temp/.....).
5.) Delete C:\Program Files\sapinst_dir\ folder. This will be recreated when SAPinst starts again.
Give this a shot and see what happens.
