Insurance / medical devices data with Access database

I have to find managing solution for 2 Israeli companies which need customer relationship relations and projects solution like Oracle RDBMS - plus for specialized data comes from a professional applications (one for insurance and other for medical devices data).
If ORACLE will manage all business data it will be well, but additionally ORACLE will have to manage Access DB comes from the software for insurance from company named IDIT, and other medical devices data from medical solutions from "Hadasit" (Hadassah Hospital and "Hebrew University")
Oracle RDBMS would handle well the Access database?

Hi Saurabh,
While posting a query, make sure that you provide all required info. i.e. CR version with SP level, VS version etc.
providing detailed environmment info would help you get faster responses.

  • Pb to transfert Date in access Database

    Hi,
    I have a problem to transfert date in access database.
    I get the date in java:
    Calendar theCalendar = java.util.Calendar.getInstance();
    int month = theCalendar.get(Calendar.MONTH)+1;
    int dayOfMonth = theCalendar.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH);
    String dateString = new Integer(theCalendar.get(Calendar.YEAR)).toString();
    dateString = dateString + "-" + month + "-" + dayOfMonth ;
    then I update the statement (odbc) , everything is ok except that for the dateString =2004-05-11, when I look in my database (field defined as Date/Time), I read 6/10/1905 witch is "little" different.
    I try to do a Date rightNow = java.sql.Date.valueOf(dateString); and put the rightNow in the statement , equal !
    I try also to change the dateString with yyyy/mm/dd then I get strange values in access
    Does somebody could help me, I'm a beginner,
    thank a lot

    Y.Brunet, I can not be as sure in my words as you are, since I don't know how other companies and programmers solve these problems, but I cannot easily accept your advice to code dates as Strings.
    In our company's projects everywhere in DB handling code we use PreparedStatements because AFAIK they provide better performance than CallableStatements if frequently used. Also they provide abstraction level - why should I know how the f!@# the Database expects dates/int/float/String... in SQL statements?
    We use several DB servers - M@SQL, Access, Oracle, Ingres - they all handle dates in different way(not to mention that in most DBs date format is customizable). But code written for one server works on others (most of it, of course) because of this level of abstraction.
    Let's leave the driver format the stuff as the DB expects and concentrate on the real work - pass correct values, perform logical checks, improving performance.....

  • Transferring a lot of data from Access Database to Labview

    I need to transfer 500000 -> 1000000 values in a Access database table to Labview. The values are selected using a query which is very fast if run in Access itself, but from Labview it's very slow. Obviously the connection between Labview and Access is the slow point.
    Im using the NI Database connectivity toolset and a UDL file defines the connection. Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider is used.
    To be honest i dont know what that really means, just that it normally works but now its stupidly slow for so much data.
    Thanks for any help.
    Rob

    One of my continual gripes with the DBCT is it's poor behavior on large data sets. See NI's response here:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/862567530005f0a186256a33006b917a?OpenDocument
    Actually, I wouldn't find it nearly so annoying but for the part that says "In most database books you are told not to return large recordsets...". I prefer the freedom to make a mess of things myself, thanks.
    On the plus side, the VI referenced in the article is fairly efficient, you just have to deal with type conversion once things have been moved into LabVIEW.

  • Trouble with access database online

    Hello everyone,
    I created an applet that simply inserts data into an access database and then prints it out on the screen the sql insert statement.
    I signed the applet so I can trust it so I wont get any security errors.
    When I upload it to the site it shows the correct insert statement because the primary key auto increments and displays on the screen. I don't get any SQLException errors or SecurityException errors so I assume it is working.
    When I download my database and look at it I dont see the data inserted into it. But when I see it in my browser it displays the insert statement with the primary key so I am really confused.
    I tried in internet explorer and firefox and made sure I cleared my cache. Is there any possible thing that I missed as to why it gets the auto-increment primary key and doesnt get caught in the try catch but when I look at the database I don't see anything.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the advice but this does not really help
    my situation.
    Well it does in that it is not "advice" it is a statement of fact and so it does help you in that you shouldn't waste time pursuing that.
    The reason is, as you are already seeing, that when you update the Access database in your applet you are only actually updating the local copy (downloaded by the Applet) not the copy of the file on the server. So you can make all the changes you want but won't see them.
    I could send data through a url and then program an
    asp page to handle the database stuff.Yes that would be a better way all around.
    >
    If you cant help me with doing the sql in the appletIt's not that I can't help you. It's that is impossible. If you chose another database that was a server it would be possible.
    I mean I can help but I cannot do the impossible.
    can you help me on sending data through a url in a
    java applet.
    Yes. Use the HttpURLConnection class to do what you want. You can send it by GET (aka ASP Request.QueryString) or by POST (aka ASP Request.Form).
    This tutorial shows you how http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/urls/index.html

    SharePoint Foundation doesn't provide Access Services, so you won't have full fidelity when looking to connect to your deployment when back in the office.
    You can link or export your content to SharePoint lists I believe.  A quick "how to" is covered within Stack Exchange.

  • Saving a complete date to access database

    Hi, I am currently struggling with databases and dates, the database I use is an access database (It's obligated in the assignment). Now, what I want to do is save a COMPLETE date into the database, with this I mean: day,month,year,hour (minutes and seconds aren't necessary, but I can just put them to 00:00). Any ideas how I can add this to an access database AND order the entries by these dates? Or is it just not possible with access? (I know how I could do this in mysql, but as I said is is not allowed)

    ok, but I have to say I'm new to the whole preparedstatement thing, I tried what you said, but now I get an 'arrayindexoutofboundsexception', any ideas on why this happens? here's the most important piece of the code:
                   dbconn = new DbConnect();
                   PreparedStatement pstmt = dbconn.getConn().prepareStatement("INSERT INTO Reservaties (datum,sorteerdatum,uur,terrein,gebruikersnaam) VALUES ('?',?,?,?,'?')");
                   pstmt.setString(1,reservatie.getDatum());
                   pstmt.setTimestamp(2,reservatie.getSorteerDatum());
                   pstmt.setInt(3,reservatie.getUur());
                   pstmt.setInt(4,reservatie.getTerrein());
                   pstmt.setString(5,reservatie.getGebruikersnaam());
                   pstmt.executeUpdate();
                   dbconn.close();

  • Using core data with a database

    Here is where I am at. I have a trivia app in development that will have over 1000 questions, so a database is inevitable. We recently created a test sqlite database and read in some entries and it worked.
    We were looking into exploiting the features of Core Data in our app, but this would involve creating a set of managed objects, a context, and the essentials for a Core Data scheme to function, and then use these models to fetch data from a database.
    The database is not created yet. We are starting fresh and simply wish to see if we can use core data to work with a database that could be created once the model is in place. Is it possible to create a 1000 or more entry database whose entries could relate to a Core Data entity or set of entities, and then use Core Data to fetch the data from these entries as we please?

    We will not be reusing any code. I apologize for the confusion. This is the start of the app regarding database management, and we have not yet created the database that will hold the questions for this app.
    Alright, so you two are both suggesting to set up a model and allow the creation of the sqlite store, which if my research is correct, involves a .sqlite file with a "Z_" following each attribute, and then adding entries here. This sounds fair enough. I had not known if this was going against the mainstream use of core data or not.
    Thanks you two. I'm going to leave the question open for a little while longer to see if any other opinions come up.

  • How can i load data from access database to datagridview with custom columns all days of a month ?

    Hi guys
    I am newbie in vb net and I want your help to solve a problem.
    I have this datagridview with two columns and all days of a month in custom columns.
    [IMG]http://i59.tinypic.com/2qwpj15.png[/IMG]
    I also have one combobox to change Year and a combobox to change Month.
    Here is the code to load data
    Private Sub fill_plan()
    dgMonth.Rows.Clear()
    Try
    Dim i As Integer = 0
    Dim query As String = "SELECT MonID,Unitname,Personel,Udate FROM tblMonth ORDER BY Unitname"
    con.Open()
    cmd = New OleDbCommand(query, con)
    myDR = cmd.ExecuteReader
    If myDR.HasRows Then
    While myDR.Read
    dgMonth.Rows.Add()
    dgMonth.Rows(i).Cells(0).Value = myDR.GetInt32(myDR.GetOrdinal("MonID"))
    dgMonth.Rows(i).Cells(1).Value = myDR.GetString(myDR.GetOrdinal("Unitname"))
    dgMonth.Rows(i).Cells(2).Value = myDR.GetInt32(myDR.GetOrdinal("Personel"))
    i = i + 1
    End While
    End If
    myDR.Close() : con.Close()
    Catch ex As Exception
    MsgBox(ex.Message, MsgBoxStyle.Critical, "Error")
    End Try
    End Sub
    With
    this code the
    personel column
    loads the first
    day of the month.
    I want to load
    the column the date that is
    in the database.

    Hello,
    This can be done with less code
    Private Sub fill_plan()
    dgMonth.DataSource = Nothing
    Dim dt As New DataTable
    Try
    Dim query As String = "SELECT MonID,Unitname,Personel,Udate FROM tblMonth ORDER BY Unitname"
    con.Open()
    cmd = New OleDbCommand(query, con)
    dt.Load(cmd.ExecuteReader)
    dgMonth.DataSource = dt
    Catch ex As Exception
    MsgBox(ex.Message, MsgBoxStyle.Critical, "Error")
    End Try
    End Sub
    The above loads all rows, if you want to limit the rows placed in the DataGridView this is best done in the SQL via WHERE conditions and/or with SELECT TOP x.
    Formatting of the data is best done via the property window for the DataGridView on whatever column you want too. Using the above you now need to set the data property for each column and set dgMonth.AutoGenerateColumns = False, in the end we end up with
    less code
    edit is there a reason for returning the primary key? If so then using my method we can hide that field but I see no reason for having it in this case
    Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help, this will help others who are looking for solutions to the same or similar problem.

  • I want to import data from access database to editable Adobe X form - java? txt? fdf? :-(

    I've been trying to work out how to fill text fields with imported data from an access 2010 database.
    So far I've managed to paste all the data in a large text field on a blank page at the end of the document, but nope, that's not it.
    If anyone has the answer....... please I would really like to know
    Cheers
    Kim

    Acrobat used to have its own database connector on Windows (ADBC) but it was removed in version X. You have two options to connect to a live database that publishes itself through the Windows ODBC system:
    Create the form using LiveCycle Designer (shipped with Acrobat X Pro, but now a separate product). XFA forms created this way have inbuilt database connection features and will work in Adobe Reader too.
    Use the SOAP object in Acrobat JavaScript - but this will not work in Adobe Reader unless you apply permissions using LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server.

  • Report with Access Database or TXT file

    Dear All,
    I was wondering if someone can help me with the following issue.
    We have created a Crystal Reports XI report which has a Access MDB or Plain Text file as source data (2 different reports; one with MDB connection only and the other one with a Lotus Notes ODBC connection and TXT file).
    The report runs correctly locally and it also runs correctly on the server but as soon as I post the report via the repository folder to the server, it does not work anymore.
    Viewing the report via InfoView gives me a password request while both, the MDB and TXT file are not password protected.
    We have tried to make system DSN and file DSN connections to both the MDB and TXT file but also this ends with a password request which is not defined.
    Did anyone came across this as well? Any idea about a solution?
    Thank you in advance,
    Annique.

    Hi Annique,
    Since this works in CR Designer I'm moving your post to the Business Objects forum.
    It's likely due to BOE servers not having access to the data sources. Make sure you put them in a folder that the WEB server and BOE Servers have access to. To prompt for log on is because we can't find the data files.
    Thank you
    Don
