Integrating Flash swf or html with Dreamweaver

I created a swf file to replace my current static background image (page properties) in dreamweaver (the files are the same dimensions). When I try to select it, the swf file is grayed out. So I deleted the background image and inserted the flash swf with a transparent bkgd. When I preview it in my browser (safari) it doesn't work. I like the position of the static file and would like the swf to stay in the same place to compensate for different user monitor sizes. Please Help!!!!
The current/live site is http://www.sistercirclemedina.com you will see the static image (header_11_01.jpg). I added the revised homepage (index.html) to my site you can find that at http://www.481gddr.com/sistercircle/index.html  The script files required are in a script folder on the hosting server. I also inserted the swf into a completely new dreamweaver document and it does not work.
If the swf file won't work...why? Should I try to use the js and input that into the dreamweaver code?
Thank you so much for your assistance and time.

Check, if all the paths in your projects are "relative" paths.
If you drag&drop files or link in dreamweaver, DW will most likely use absolute paths.
Then when you upload  your files, some of this paths won`t exist.
I also inserted the swf into a completely new dreamweaver document and it does not work.
You cant really "insert" a swf into a dreamweaver document.
DW in this case does nothing else then telling the browser (via the <flash> tag where to find the swf. that has to go into a <div>

  • Flash CS5 location conflict with dreamweaver

upon instaling flash CS5 is not allowing me to save changes i made on dreamweaver.  there is this msg saying it will stop my dreamweaver communicating from a remote location and when i click on settings, it does nothing.  it stop me from updating my website. did some reasearch, many place suggest to go on to the adobe  website storage settings panel.  not sure how to use it but it seems like i have to entrust every single page of my website to the list as a trusted site in order for it to work.  and i test it on one page and it didnt seems do anything.

My two A's '(Apple and Flash CS5) stopped  struggling. It had nothing to do with Indesign... it was  just a problem of permissions. Why it happened I do not know. The only constatation I  dare to make is... Guys from Adobe... you put the right diagnosis... thank you, thank you  very much....
    Permissions that's all!!

  • Flash swf movie player with chaptering

Hi guys, I'm looking for an off the shelf paid flash player (or free if available) that will allow me to play SWF's (not FLV's or videos).
    I have 5 .swf animations (1.swf, 2.swf, 3.swf, 4.swf, 5.swf).
I would like to have a player that if i click play, will play through the 5 animations one after the other seamlessley - however i may wish to skip through chapters (each .swf will be a chapter) by clicking ahead on a playhead or by selecting a chapter title from a drop down.
The chapters need to be seperate swf's because they will used individually aswell as as one piece.
So in effect I really simply want a player to watch all my flash movies concurrently with the ability to click ahead in the player and have it load the relevant .swf if need be!
    Any suggestions?

Though this is not an extreme task to achieve, I'm not aware of any "you don't need to program anything" kinds of templates that allow you to quickly sequence a series of SWF files. But, I understand this kind of requirement if you aren't an AS3 programmer yourself (or maybe you are, and you just want to save time, which we all do!). Many times it can be worth paying $40 for some template/component versus taking the time ourselves (1 hour, someteims dozens of hours).
If this were programmed from scratch, it would be a combination of these concepts (sorry, no code here):
The Loader class to load in your other AS3 SWF files
Using an ENTER_FRAME event (in your application, not in the SWFs, which I'll assume you don't want to edit) to know when a SWF has reached the last frame, at which point you unload the current SWF and load a new SWF.
An array that lists out your SWF files.
Detection of when the final file has completed.
In addition, possible some UI controls that would:
Allow for the pausing/playing the current SWF (which would only control their main timeline; dealing with nested MovieClips with their own timelines would require add'l work).
Allow for the instant skipping to the Next or Previous SWF file.
Allow for the Restarting of the presentation when the final SWF has completed (or the option ability to loop to the 1st SWF at this point)
The end result would be your template, that could be made fully reusable by coupling it with a really small XML file:
The XML would become your list of SWF files
This could also control which UI controls you have available
Hopefully this gives you a general (abstract) sense of things you'd need to program (or find somebody to program...at which point the'll have their own take on how they'd do this).

  • Add Flash swf above html...HOW?

I've never used Dreamweaver, but believe it may solve my
problem. I have recreated the infamous page peeling ad totally in
Flash. It has a transparent background. I need to be able to place
this add OVER an existing web page. An example of this is here
    http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articles7/peel-away-ads.htm
I was not permitted to purchase this software which
incorpoprates javascript for most of the functionality. I had to
rebuild it totally in Flash which I've done, but now I need to
    integrate it into web pages.
How can I do this? I need to position it in the upper right
of a page and have it open OVER the content.
    Help please.

I was browsing through the Dreamweaver help files the other
day and remember reading that Flash content ALWAYS displays on top
of all other page elements automatically.
    Here's the extract:
    quote:
If your page contains Flash content, this might cause a
problem because Flash movies are always displayed on top of all
other DHTML layers, so the Flash content might be displayed on top
of your submenus. The workaround for this situation is to change
the parameters for the Flash movie to use wmode="transparent". For
    more information, see

    Good luck!

  • Flash swf file import with sound effect

    I'm sorry for my english
when ı import any swf file that include sound effect and run the project. Swf files running perfect but swf files are quiet...
    how can ı solve this

We have configured our BW sytem to extract data from CRM. Various reports are displayed in CRM UI  including queries using BEx WEb and Xcelsius dashboards. Xcelsius dashboards is pulling data from BW cube for CRM data. To present the dashboard in CRM UI we created a bEX web template as a copy of 0DASHBOARD_TEMPLATE. In the copied template specify the name of the xcelsius file. The copied web template can be configured using standard config options for CRM UI.

  • Insert Flash with Dreamweaver CS3 Question

So I have been building websites for awhile and have always relied on the built in insert flash object that came with dreamweaver as I have never had issues with it.
However as I finished a site recently the client had a friend look at it and brought up the red flag that the site was not w3 compliant.  So I go and look at the little tool they have and the only error that comes up is related to the insertion of flash on the page.
I googled it a bit and found a number of people saying that the insert flash through dreamweaver will no show up as compliant.  A couple solutions to fix the problem.
But before I go down that road, I want to ask. ...Does it really matter here?  Seems like Dreamweaver insertion would be compliant? I mean come on the link that the w3 give to fix the problem is a link from a fix created in 2002.
I have never heard of anyone saying no the flash does not show up so right off I am not terribly concerned but it would be nice to know..
Also if it is important and suggestions as to a nice fix to the issue would be great.
    Thanks for your time,
    Chris

    Right you are!
I tend to spot check pages and haven't done a W3C check on a flash embed in my websites (apparently). Just did one pursuant to your question. The page is 100% compliant without the Flash video. has 51 errors, 35 warnings with it. Lots of those errors are Adobe-generated Javascript that handles the flash video insert, skins it and so on.
Here is where Adobe may not be compliant with the W3C.

  • Help in integrating scroll bar between photoshop and dreamweaver

    Hello,
I'm a newbie to integration of other adobe products with dreamweaver. However, i was able to figure out the part where i can finally integrate my design from photoshop to dreamweaver.
Now my problem is that in my design i have a beautiful scroll bar. I can't seem to find an answer on the web for integrating the same design of this scroll bar into dreamweaver and make it functional in dreamweaver.
Just a bit of background on what i did is that i sliced my pages in photoshop and imported them into dreamweaver and everything is good. The only thing that's missing is making this design functional and most importantly the scroll bar.
    Really appreciate anyone's help!!!

    Hi there,
You can try using a jQuery custom scrollbar. They're pretty easy to set up and you can find them here:
    http://www.net-kit.com/jquery-custom-scrollbar-plugins/
Once you find a plugin that is close to your design, it's just a matter of switching out color/images/etc.

  • Integrating Lightroom Flash Gallery with Dreamweaver CS3

I have been unsuccessfully attempting to edit the gallery files created by Lightroom from within Dreamweaver. The index.html file comes up with this message when opened:
Sorry, this photo gallery requires that scripting be enabled on your web browser and that the Macromedia Flash Player be installed. Download the Macromedia Flash Player
However, I have the player installed...
I have tried uploading the files directly to my server from Lightroom but they do not display. The loading icon whirls endlessly and never resolves.
    Does anyone have any advice.
    Thanks in advance.

You can't edit a flash gallery with Dreamweaver.
To make changes to the LR flash gallery you would require a copy of the original fla file and a copy of Flash to edit it.
The index file you see is the one that loads the flash player to play your gallery. The message is what is seen in a browser that doesn't have flash player installed.
You can make amendments to the gallery itself by changing the xml files, although the changes you can make here can also be made in LR itself so why bother?
You can embed the gallery itself in your own html page. Using insert, media and then finding the gallery.swf file. As long as you then upload everything in the correct locations (including the scrippt files abd the new html file in the same folder structure it will work.
There are other flash galleries that are far easier to  embed available. However in order to make serious changes to flash galleries of any type you will require the original fla file and most designers are not going to give you that! Adobe does give away the fla's for the galleries that ship with PS.

  • Advice on integrating Flash and HTML

I have googled and researched this topic on the web.
Integrating Flash and HTML seems like a popular topic but much of
the information is dated (using FS commands or solutions based on
2000-2004 coding and/or hacks) I am using Flash CS3 and Dreamweaver
CS3. I can use Actionscript 2 or Actionscript 3. Here is my goal
I want to use a Flash navigation in the top third of my page
and have it control and load new HTML pages in the bottom two
thirds of the page. Some of these html pages use SPRY code but most
are simple HTML pages. I prefer Flash over CSS because I have more
control and predictability. What I have found so far is three
    different solutions.
1.HTML Framesets. This seems like a really good idea but I
thought using framesets was a fading technique and should be
    avoided. Is this true?
    2. Using the ExternalInterface class to communicate between
Javascript and Actionscript. This also seemed like a good idea but
it is not clear to me how to implement. Do I combine this with
innerHTML or some type of AJAX technique.
    3. Keep everything in Flash and load different swfs into main
Flash page. I like this idea the best and it would work for most
pages but I still like html pages when there is alot of text or I
    want to use SPRY techniques.
When I have posted elsewhere I get references to articles
telling me why Flash is bad or framesets are bad or innerHTML is
not standard HTML. The only thing I am sure about is that most
people are pretty passionate about defending their own way of doing
things. I am hoping someone can provide some solid information
about what is possible and how to implement a solution.

It works when you put it online... :)1

  • Integrating Flash into Dreamweaver

    Hello All,
I am a newbie and just finished a Flash class. However we
didn't hardly talk at all about integrating Flash with Dreamweaver.
What I want to do is create an intro page that has Flash and
then you have to click on a Button to go into the main site. I
understand a little of Behaviors and Actionscripting so thought
that I would do the GetURL Behavior (going off memory here) to get
me from the Intro page to the main Dreamweaver site.
Question is... do I export an SWF file, put that in a
index.html page for the Intro page and then link to the main
Dreamweaver site but have the main site not an "Index" file but
    another name...maybe main.html.
Is this what people do? Or do they take the generated .html
file from Flash (its published) and just use that as their intro.
Naming it index.html. And then linking to another *.html created
with Dreamweaver but that is not saved as index.html.
Also, how often are people doing a PURE Flash website and not
mixing the Flash and Dreamweaver together? Just curious.
    Thanks for clarifying.
    Computerkitten

Hmm... looks ok to me. You should be able to place it in a
    folder without
problem. I'd try using SWFObject to put the Flash on the page
    though - that
_might_ fix your problem. Odd one.

  • Embedding Lightroom HTML gallery with Dreamweaver

I'm new to Dreamweaver and have used it to build a portfolio website.  I've created HTML image galleries using Lightroom and would like to integrate these galleries into my existing page design.  Lightroom generates an Index file, as well as Context and Resources folders.  I've seen an earlier discussion about using LR to upload the galleries to my host, then edit the HTML to link the gallery pages to my other web pages.  This strikes me as cumbersome for two products made by a single company.
What I'm after is a clear answer about if I can embed these HTML galleries quickly and easily into my existing page design?  My other solution is to use the Airtight SimpleViewer gallery, but since it's using Flash, my galleries won't work on Apple mobile devices.
    I'm using Dreamweaver CS5.5 and Lightroom 3.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't edit a flash gallery with Dreamweaver.
To make changes to the LR flash gallery you would require a copy of the original fla file and a copy of Flash to edit it.

  • Using Flash 8 with Dreamweaver 8

Hi guys and gals, I am in a unfomfortable situation now. I
have awsome ideas of how I would like to implement my creative
talents in building awsome websites but I cannot seem to transfer
over what ever graphics, text, buttons to Dreamweaver. I'm creating
.swf files but when I try to open up any item created from Flash it
gets all weird. I cannot seem to save those graphics and such to
html so I keep getting like a grey box with the flash logo.
Now, moving items from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is fine but
moving items from Flash to Dreamweaver is a pain in the arse.
Also, I TOTALLY understand that Dreamweaver is a awsome
formating tool but I don't know about you guys but I feel that I
feel so restrained by using these templates. I understand that
websites need to have structure but what if you want to make
different structures for certain pages on your sight?
Yes using CSS is very customizable but MUST you have
templates to put any type of graphic on a Dreamweaver design view?
All I want to achieve is making simple graphics with Flash,
Edit those graphics with Fireworks and drop them into Dreamweaver.
That's ALL I want to do but I'm having such a hard time doing this.
I'm beginning to feel completely retarded or something but
I'm just not getting it. I've bought every dog gone book and CD on
the market but I'm just not getting this concept.
But then again, I am a beginner so slap me twice, lol.
Please for all you veterans out their, explain to me like I'm
a 12 year old. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I'm trying to build a simple mock up of a simple web
page with like 5 navigational pages. I want to have buttons,
graphics, text, sound and video just to include what most websites
have just so I can get a understanding of how to put together a web
    page.
Do you guys have suggestions on this idea?
Thank you once again and god bless.

    >feel so restrained by using these templates
    what templates? Halo? Don't.
    > need to have structure but what if you want to make
    different structures

    No problem (see below)

    Don't move - import them
    >drop them into Dreamweaver
    see above
    >I've bought every dog gone book and CD on the market
All the books in the world on Dreamweaver cannot replace
    books/tutorials on
HTML and CSS before you get to the hair-tearing stage (oops!
    too late!)
    > Please for all you veterans out their, explain to me

Not a veteran (well, not in experience lol!) - what you're
    doing wrong is
going about using Dreamweaver like you would Word or as if
    it's WYSIWYG -
    it's not.
    Have a look at this
    http://www.w3schools.com/ on
the left, learn X/HTML and Learn CSS.
There *are* good, ready-made templates available if you want
    to go down this
road, but without a grounding in HTML and CSS, you will
    continue to wonder
if it's all worth it (o:
