I have a documentation web site that is nothing but straight HTML files converted from msword. However, the individual file are huge. A single file can be up to 2MB. They contain technical documentation and what have you. As it exists today, the site is not secure and I want to move it into an existing hrml-db to secure it. The non-secure site uses Java script to make a navigational tree like control. I want to accomplish something similar in HTML-db. I have done some research in the forum here to see how this can be done. It looks like these are my options:
1- Create HTML-db with regions pointing to the URL of the non-secure site. However, simply pasting the HTML code in the region box of a page works if the HTML code (and its contents) is small. Larger pages produced errors like HTTP-400 Value param too long.
2- Uploading existing HTML pages as static files. I'm not sure if this is really an option, but I could not get it to work any way. The uploaded files were too big to be edited within HTML-db. Also, I could not link to these static files as described using #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# template variable.
My inquiry is 2 folds here,
- What other options do I have to accomplish this (with a brief description please).
- Is uploading static files an appropriate approach?

What about loading the HTML files into the database as CLOBS? Then you can write a fairly standard ApEx app that works with them using reports, trees etc, and streams them on demand.
You'd probably want to slim down the files as much as possible: MS Word-produced markup is (a) junk and (b) huge. If you have a copy of Adobe/Macromedia Dreamweaver it has a tool for correcting Word "HTML" and there may be other tools out there that do the same.

I am trying to import one of my non-BC sites into BC, using Dreamweaver CC, and then use it as one of my free WebBasics sites.
When I try to create a new BC site in Dreamweaver CC, it creates a BC template site, and I have unsuccessfully tried to update the files on BC - it won't let me connect.
If I import the site from my portal, I don't get the option of a free site - when I try to upgrade, I get the credit card form asking for payment.
I feel like I'm running around in circles with one foot nailed to the floor.
Any tips?

Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion. I'm exporting the first section now. I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie. I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame? If it can, what size should I select when I export?

I've read a couple posts about using iFrames to integrate existing JSP applications into HTMLDB, but I'm wondering if it is possible to do new development with JSP's and taglib's directly in HTMLDB (i.e. within an HTML region or something like that).

Can't import an application into HTMLDB.

I cannot import an application into HTMLDB. I have tried small applcations and even the sample application that comes with HTMLDB. The apache logs give me the error 'HTTP-404 ORA-00904: "CONTENT": invalid identifier' no matter what I try to import. This installation of HTMLDB is installed on a 10g database (10.1.3) and is using the Apache server from a 10gAS installation (9.0.4). We have several htmldb installations on 9.2.0.4 databases using both 10gAS(9.0.4) Apache and 9.0.3 Apache. This is the only installation that gives us any problem. All of our HTMLDB installations are 1.6.1.00.02. There are no invalids in the flows_01600 schema. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue.

I have created a dad on 9.0.3, and the import works. The dad in both are identical to what I can see. The 10gAS Apache logs has a preceding error message, here is the complete error messesages generated by the 10gAS Apache server when I try to import an application :

Problems with Integrating SRM, ESS/MSS into one portal 7.01

We are having major problems with integrating SRM, ESS/MSS into one portal 7.01?
Do we need to have a support portal for each.
We created test users for systems but sometimes we lose the users for no apparrent reasons. Very strange. Please advise and if you have new documentation regarding SAP Portal Authorization it will be helpful.

Splitting one site into two

I have one large site which has two distinct sections. Each section has multiple pages. I have two domain names.
I would like to split the site by removing one of the sections and making a new site with these pages.
I imagine it is not difficult, but could not locate this in a search.

It's very easy to do. Create a new site and drag the pages from site 1 to site 2. Somewhat the opposite as shown here.

Frontpage Sites into Dreamweaver CS4

OK I am a newbie to both Mac and Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 on a MacBook Pro and I do not have the option of running Frontpage under Parellels as I have tried it about 20x and Frontpage cannot see my Frontpage files on my Mac .psf network solution . . . so . . . I have to learn DW in one days time; but first, I have to get Frontpage sites into DW. BTW, have no sympathy for me, I do stupid things like this all the time, it's how I became an expert at Avid Liquid and how I'm doing the same on Final Cut Pro and will probably do on Premier Pro CS4. Learn by "doing." However, please be gentle, I'm a novice at Mac.
Anyone tell me how to get Frontpage sites into Dreamweaver CS4? Also, is DW CS4 version 8? MX? Or do none of these versions apply?

I have to confess that the first time I opened DW at the beginning of this week, my first reaction was OMG, what have I done, this is going to be impossible! I then spent a couple of hours just playing around and it all started to make some sense.
Before even installing DW, I spent some time studying the superb videos here:

These videos got me to the point where I now feel comfortable with DW. Some of the videos go by pretty quickly, so watch them twice. They are really excellent!

How can I import my iweb site into iweb on my new laptop?

I recently got a new MacBook Pro and transferred my files over from my PBG4 12-inch (great little laptop). However my iWeb files/site didn't seem to transfer over to my laptop. I found the files of on my PBG4, and thought I placed them in the correct folder on my one.
Every time I open iWeb it asks to start a new site. How can I import my old iweb site into it and continue with it? Is there a way of doing it? I've a read a few posts some talk about the file 'Domain' in the Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If I copy that file over to my new MacBook Pro, will my site be in iWeb again? I greatly appreciate some advice. Thanks.

You are correct about referring to the Domain file; this is the file that contains all of your work created in iWeb, and the file that needs to be transferred to your new MacBook. There are some notes on how to do this here.
Take the time also to make back up copies of this file, and keep them in a safe place.

Couldn't complete tutorial 'Integrating EJB 3.0 into Web Dynpro ...'

I am trying to complete the Integrating EJB 3.0 into Web Dynpro Using the EJB Model Importer tutorial that goes with SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 SP3 Developer Studio.
Does anyone ever completed this tutorial because I have problems completing it. The result is very important for me because I need to use this technology for my essay.
In this tutorial you create a button that calls the method StudsBean.getStudent(String). In this method the object student is created and it will be returned. In several labels the information of the returned student should be displayed. But that doesnt happen, when I push the button no error occurs but the labels are still empty. When I try to debug the Enterprise Bean and Web Dynpro application I see that the method StudsBean.getStudent(String) is called and the propertys are set and the student object is returned, but still it isnt displayed.
After discussing this with a colleague I tried to search for a solution on the SDN and of course Google. First I thought I would be a bug but I only found 2 people with the same problem. I found it remarkable because its one of the key subjects of Java EE 5 and its a tutorial displayed in the welcome page of the Developer Studio.
So do you people think its a bug in WebDynpro? Because I am sure that I followed all the steps mentioned (a colleague checked it even).

I guess, it's not a bug in Web Dynpro, maybe it's a bug in the tutorial
I tried something similar, but not following the tutorial and it works. I wasn't able to call the model from the view controller and I guess that's the problem. Take the code from the init-method of the view controller and put it to the component controller's init -method and the code inside the onActionGetStudent and put it into a method you create in the component controller, too. From onActionGetStudent just call this method in the component controller with some code like this:
wdThis.wdGet<your component controller's name>.<your method's name>;

We are facing a problem in inserting non-English characters into the database.For example, we have a company name field which can accept German characters. This field has been defined as of varchar2 type of size 50 in the db. When we enter 49 English characters and then one German character, the database is throwing the error that the inserted value is too large for the column.Is it that the German character is taken as equivalent to two English characters ? Or is there any database level setting that can be done for this ? For the time being we have identified certain critical fields and have doubled the size of their fields in the db. But I guess there has to be another solution to this....

There are different ways of doing this. One way is down load third party data into Flat file and then upload into BW using flat file extraction.
Other option is load data using DB connect. please see this link for DB connect

Merging two separate MUSE sites into a single MENU system and Paid & online BC eCommerce site

Hi all! I am stuck trying to figure out a Process Conundrum:
1> I have a BC site with e-commerce ready to go - paid - online with store template in place.
2> I also Have a 2nd MUSE created web site (with the client content/pages) that needs to merge with that E-commerce BC site.
What is the move to merge the two separate sites into a single site with the Menus all in proper order?
Is this simple and I can not see it? (merge the two sites in a folder and reopen in muse for new menus?
Or do i need Dreamweaver to assist in the merge?
In other words:
What is the PATH/PROCESS to merge a 2nd MUSE designed web site (sans e-commerce), in order to tie into the online BC e-commerce template paid site - so the menus update together as "one" site?
Menu Update Concern: merging two separate MUSE sites into a single MENU system with the "Paid on line Active BC e-commerce Template". How do it do it Process wise so that the menus adjust automatically... so they are "one" menu.

download the BC e-commerce site into Dreamweaver -
export the 2nd muse site by publishing it to a unique folder.
combine them by going back into dream weaver and attempting to figure out linking the menus. - perhaps they are automatic there too.
or load them both up to BC and back down to MUSE to fix the menus?
I appreciate Any recommendations, hits or humor that you could help on this.

   - I have gone through lots of the BC and Muse training exercises. Adobe
   and BC Gurus.
But... if the only problem is that I need to work though my partner site BC
interface...
   - that would be fine...
   - so would using dream weaver....
I will go back and review the BC interface and also dreamweaver
capabilities.
without a budget... i need to figure it out... please do point to any
material or training you might be able to point me to.
I don't have to use muse, if that is my sticking point. I just need to get

Import complete Flash site into swf in mini format

Hi,
I am trying to get a smaller size of a complete web site to
run in a swf file on my web site.
You can see what I am thinking at gggraphic.com/new under
product and web design. I want the inserted web sites to be live.
The script below works fine if the imported site lives in one
single swf. But most of
my sites run from a master swf that imports other swf's. The
master will import in the specified size. But all following swf
files will import in their full size. Is there some universal code
that will make all files that are imported into the
container movie clip adjust to the new size?

sorry about that. from what I know it shoots in mpeg-2, but when you go onto the camera disk image the files are named .mod
they can be imported into imovie 08, as .mov (but when I click "get info" it still says that they are mpeg-2 and that they are compressed -- which *****)
its also 16:9, standard definition. That's all I really know. What I ended up doing what I converted all the clips to DV with mpeg stream clip so I wouldn't have to render the video in fce. I did have to render the audio for some reason though.
another quick question. If I have a lot of clips in the bin for final cut will it slow it down? I have about 70 and it seems to be the cause for "dropped frames" or whatever that dialogue box says.

Just because the extension is one file type doesn't
necessarily mean that
it is that file type. I have a site which uses serverside
includes on all
the pages. As the site started with static pages, and since
it was well-
spidered with the .html extensions, the server is now set up
so that
anything with a .html extension is parsed as if it were
.shtml. That's
relatively easy to do on an Apache server, which is what
hosts the site in
question.
The other clue that this is the case is in the search form
itself:

See the action attribute? Normally that would have to be some
kind of
script; in this case, it's a 'plain' html page, though when
you go there,
there are dynamically generated results.
