Integrating Oracle WebCenter Discussions with ALUI/OWCI

How easy is it to integrate a WebCenter Discussions Portlet into a WebCenter Interaction Portal (Previously BEA ALUI)? We want to develop a Forum application using Oracle WebCenter Discussions and also add/access it as a portlet to the existing portal running in WebCenter Interaction. Could anyone suggest a good approach to this?

The product you are using at forums.oracle.com is WebCenter Discussion, or what used to be "Jive Forums." It's currently called WebCenter Discussions.

I'm in the process of integrating the Webcenter Discussion service in an ADF Application.
I have completed the following steps.
1. Installed JDeveloper 11g and Webcenter 11g.
2. Configured the Discussion server which was installed along with Webcenter 11g.
3. Integrated Discussions with ADF Application by creating a Discussion connection.
The ADF Application is running fine. But the forums are displaying empty. In the Discussion server, I'm unable to create new users and there are no options to create forums and to create threads.
Help me in getting the below things,
1. Where we can create forums?
2. What settings we need to make for new forums and where to do those settings?
3. Are there any settings to create new users as i have only one default user 'weblogic'? When i create new users from Discussion server, I'm getting the message as 'Create users not supported'.

For you requirement ,you need to navigate the following url:

In your application , all users are coming from weblogic server's embedded LDAP or from external LDAP(if you configure so ). there also you can create user.
I have a doubt ,regarding your application.
Are you using only ADF application ,or webcenter application.
for displaying discussion forum ,you need webcenter discussion forums taskflows in your page .
If you use only ADF application,then you need to add all the forum corresponding libraries in your application otherwise need to consult with oracle support.

Integrating Oracle eBusiness Suite with banking services using Oracle SOA

I am working on a project for integrating Oracle eBusiness Suite with banking services using Oracle SOA. We have implemented Oracle SOA and trying to call bank's services using SOA.
The bank has provided its web services over http which accepts XML data as string through HTTPS post invocation and provides response accordingly in string XML Data.
For each service, specific format of request and response message has been provided.
I am trying to call their web services using HTTP binding adapter.
I would like to know whether my approach of calling bank's web service using HTTP binding adapter is correct or not.

Still we need some more clarification on My Requirement that is, we are using ‘Oracle Single Sign On’ for my product and OID (Oracle Internet Directory) is enabled for this Single Sign On. Now we are planning to use OViD (Oracle Virtual Directory) for our Product so we integrated OID with OViD and now we are able to view the OID users in OViD. But Still My Product is using Single Sign On, which is enabled with OID only. Do we need to enable OViD (Oracle Virtual Directory) for Single Sign On? If yes please help us how to integrate (enable) OViD with Single Sign On.

We had already gone through that document earlier. We noticed that when Apllication Profile "*Apllications SSO Type* " is set to SSWA then OA_HTML/AppsLogout is
working fine , but when we set "*Applications SSO Type*" to SSWA w/SSO then OA_HTML/AppsLogout is not working(not redirecting) .Error thrown on web browser is "+500 Internal Server Error Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response+" . we believe that we might have missed some Profile settings that is causing this error.

Integration Oracle Advance Queue with OSB

We are doing integration for Oracle Advance Queue with OSB.
I created an AQ adapter in Jdev and generate the WSDL and XSD.
I imported both WSDL and XSD in OSB Project.
When i am configuring the business service and selecting the WSDl i am not able to select Binding and ports, is it due to any issue in WSDL?

The OIF FAQ document mentioned that Oracle provides programmatic interfaces to achieve this.
But I did not find any javadocs / samples on how this can be done.

You need to upload the SAML 2.0 IdP/SP metadata for the peers you want to federate with. OIF will verify the metadata and add the peers in its Circle of Trust as IdP or SP depending on the metadata upoaded. If the peer is going to play both IdP and SP roles, you need to upload both the metadata files.
Similarly, in case you need to provide the peer your metadata, OIF makes this available at http(s)://host:port/fed/idp/metadatav20 (SAML 2.0 IdP metadata) or http(s)://host:port/fed/sp/metadatav20 (SAML 2.0 SP metadata) as required.

Integrating Oracle R enterprise with Oracle 11g

I need to implement some data mining algorithms (SVM, CART, C5.0) and feed the result obtained to OBIEE 11g. My database (tables,views) are located in the Oracle database. So, my question is how can I integrate Oracle R enterprise so that I can implement the algorithms in R language and present to the users through OBIEE? Or, are there any methods to obtain these objectives?

Oracle R Enterprise supports integration with OBIEE using an RPD where the R results appear as a table via ORE's embedded R execution. I'm new to ADF as well as OSN, I went through the ADF tutorial (Developing RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF) and understood a little bit.
My requirement is to integrate the Oracle Social Network in the ADF web application UI. I found the link "Implementing Oracle Social Network Integration - 11g Release 7 (11.1.7)"
I'm finding difficulties in following the documentation, particularly the pre-requisites.
* I use JDeveloper version 11.1.1.7.0 and I have downloaded all updates related to webcenter in my JDeveloper.
May I request you to add few more screen shots that explain where to enter the Oracle Social Network URL in JDeveloper.
Else a simple tutorial with screen shots would be a great help!

MC, the documentation you are looking at is specific to Fusion Apps developers integrating with Oracle Social Network. If you are looking to do generic ADF development including work against OSN then this is probably not the place to start. Are you a Fusion Apps developer, or are you an Oracle Cloud Apps customer that has an application and OSN that you are trying to extend? If you could provide a little more context about what you are trying to achieve we will be able to advise the right route for you to take.

Integrating Oracle DB 11g with SharePoint 2010

Here is my server infrastructure :
Server1: Oracle Database Server Enterprise Edition (11.2.0.1.0) 32bit version installed on Windows Server 2008 SP1 32bit
Server2: WebLogic server 11g (10.3.5) and Forms 11g (11.1.2.0.0) 32bit version installed on Windows Server 2008 SP1 32bit
Server3: MS SQL Server 2008 64bit & MS SharePoint 2010 installed on Windows Server 2008 SP1 64bit
I need to now develop a UI integrated in SharePoint(Server3) that will perform CRUD operations on the Oracle DB (Server1).
Do I need to install Oracle Access Manager (OAM) or use Business Connectivity Services or anything else to talk to Oracle DB?
Is the 32bit DB compatible with 64bit SharePoint? If yes, can I use 32bit OAM with SharePoint?
Is Oracle Identity Management required? Do I need to install Weblogic Server and SOA on the DB server?
Can someone please help me with the next steps? How should the infrastructue change? Please also suggest on the 32/64bit versions as well.
Oracle support team asked me to check with the SharePoint team.

I am not sure about 32 bit, Because SharePoint 2010 is only 64bit.
Another thing is you have to install the Oracle Client on all sharepoint server in order to connect the Oracle.

Getting Socket creation error :( Can u pls help in connecting to hsql db? Probably my DB_URL is also wrong, not sure of the correct parameter. I have given :
jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://<host>:<port>
Also, 1 more surprising thing is that even though hsql db is working from webcenter sites explorer, in services, there is no hsql service visibile.

Thank you very much for the reply... we have overall description of the scenario but not detailed one... which goes like:
1) We have to develop a java program to generate password and give it out as an output parameter (the input parameters will be name, age and a character as required by user), the program will use internally date time stamp to make the password generation process more riggid ... which is already in place!
2) There is a program running in Oracle apps which will process file we provide along with the password (generated for each record using java program mentioned above).
3) We understand this can be done without SOA/BPEL ... but there are many things coming up which will be added later ... for now what we need is the Oracle program (it will be a procedure that can be run as a concurrent program or called from anywhere) should be integrated with Java program for password using BPEL/SOA (as the java program is lying with third party and we cannot have the code or even the executable).
In simple words ... a program lying at third party server is accessed to generate password ... a file is accessed from third party server to process the data from it and push the same in Oracle Apps table!

Integrating Oracle BI Publisher with Oracle Single Sign-on security.

I am trying to integrate BI Publisher with Oracle Single Sign-on running on a different machine.
The BI Publisher is installed with an Oracle application server 10.3.1 (includes a HTTP server). These are the steps I followed:
1) Registered BI publisher as a partner application in the Oracle SSO admin console which generated a single sign-off url.
2) Made the required modifications in the mod_osso.xml config file.
3) On the BI publisher admin page went to the securities tab and opted the SSO security and entered the single sign-off url generated in the previous step.
4) Restarted the Oracle ID mgt infrastructure and the BI pub server.
The BI pub login is not getting redirected to the SSO page.
Please let me know as what is that I am missing. I've been cracking my head with this for quite long - any help will be highly appreciated.

APEX is only using BI Publisher to transform the XML data of your report and the template you provide into PDF, Word or Excel. For this, APEX sends the XML data and the template to BI Publisher, and BI Publisher sends back to completed document. So there's nothing stored in BI Publisher, all templates, report definitions, etc are stored in the APEX schema. This has the advantage that you can reference item values and other information in your print documents, and it also ensures that you don't have to access the database again from within BI Publisher, i.e. you don't need to communicate any authentication information to BI Publisher.
Of course BI Publisher itself also provide the ability to store reports and to store templates. But those are not accessible from APEX through the built-in integration. You can however use the same templates you use for BI Publisher directly on load them into APEX for use there.
Lastly, if you want to use and print reports in both BI Publisher and your APEX applications, you can do that through web services, take a look at Tyler Muth's BLOG for more information on this topic:

Integrating Oracle BPM UI with Oracle BI Publisher as reporting tool.

          We are using WebCenter Content 11.1.1.6.0 (Ps5) version with Oracle BPM for the workflows.
Is it possible to integrate Oracle BI Publisher to print reports from Oracle BPM User Interface (UI) ?    Basically user should be able to generate a *.pdf file with approved data after the final approval.

Let me share the basic steps. You can always dump the view data into an XML file by using writeXML method.
e.g.
You need to place BIP jars into BPM domain_home/lib dir.
MASTER_QUERY="select * from employees where employee_id=:0";
ViewObject master = createViewObjectFromQueryStmt(null, MASTER_QUERY);
master.setWhereClauseParam(0, employee_id);
Row firstRow = master.first();
Node data = master.writeXML(-1, XMLInterface.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
then you can call the following method to generate pdf based on your template.
