Inter-changeability of components

I want to use two different components which are completely identical and I want to mention only one component in my BOM, but automatically when this is not available it should check the availability of alternate and only then generate procurement proposals during my MRP run...after some research i found out that i could use a FFF class for this kind of scenario... can anyone explain how this works and how to go about acheiving this.

I have mat MAT1 and Mat2 they could be used irrespective of each other in SEMI1...
I need 100kg of MAT1 or MAT2 for SEMI1
If i have 100kg of MAT1 in stock then while running MRP for SEMI1 it should use up all the 100KG of MAT1 and nothing of MAT2.
if i only have 80kg of MAT1 then while running the mrp for SEMI1 it should use 80kg of MAT1 and 20kg of MAT2....
what i mean to say that the usage of altenate material should be dependent on material availability during the planning run...any ideas??

Hi, stuckless. The only 14" Powerbooks are G3s, and there's nothing in any Powerbook G3 that you'd want to put into a G4.
If you actually have a 15" Titanium G4, its hard drive and perhaps its optical drive (depending on which model the Tibook is) are usable in a 12" Aluminum G4. If the Tibook is a 400 or 500MHz model, its optical drive won't fit in any other G4 model. Any other Tibook's optical drive will fit your 12", but some may not have the capabilities your 12" Albook's original drive did. No 15" machine's logic board can be used in any 12" PB; in fact, swapping logic boards even among different models with the same size display is often unsuccessful.

Are Adobe licenses inter-changeable between windows and mac?

I have bought initially a Creative Suite for windows and now I'm considering changing to mac.
In the software license certificate I have a windows serial number and a mac serial number. Legally, can I use the same license, although with different serial numbers on a mac or windows computer? (Regarding the uninstallation of the windows version)

Overlaying SWF Asset with layer components - Strange behaviors.

I am brand new at Flash Builder and Flash Catalyst.
I have been spending most of my time in Catalyst at first and realized later on that I needed some of the nice features inside of FlashBuilder.
I created a few FlashBuilder components and brought them in Catalyst in order to speed up my designing requirements.
After bringing in several SWF assets in Catalyst I stumlbed upon a few curious behavior.
1. If I load SWF assets in a same page and if they are inter mixed with components layers issued either from Photoshop or made from within Catalyst, I am unable to select most of them. Only and only if I move them away from the other components, I can actually select them. They also become available when I make a test run, which they weren't before, if they were close or under other layerrs, but stll visible.
2. Is there a reason why the names of the SWF are not visual at the layer level within Catalyst ? All I see once the SWF are loaded is the terminology SWF Asset with the Skin name Wireframe. This also seems to be creating a conflict in how the SWF components are selectable, since every time I select one of the SWF Asset, it is the one at the highest level in the layer stack that gets selected and not the one that I am attempting to select.
3. I ran once into a problem which was related to Skin name convention where I was duplicating buttons that always kept the same Skin name, which made it impossible to re-use them, since any modification would affect all of the duplicated components. Why can't Catalyst create new Skin names in order to avoid this behavior?
I am pretty happy using Catalyst and Builder, but I gotta say that some of those behaviors are putting a dent in my schedule.
Anyone would have a few words of advice ? I am especially concerned with the "perceived" impossibiliy to use more than one SWF asset within Catalyst.

Oops, on looking back at my original post I can see I was not
clear on an important point. The layers that hold the three
different swf files are in Dreamweaver, one layer holds
Parks_Monuments.swf, another holds Land_Seascapes.swf and the third
holds Cityscapes.swf. As it works now you click on the appropriate
button on the left and through the use of Dreamweaver behaviors it
shows the associated swf by hiding the other two layers. BTW the
buttons are quite crude right now - no over or down states.
I realize I can't use the layers in an Actionscript to do
something but would it be possible to add a script to the down
state of a button so that it would show/hide the Dreamweaver
layers? I guess another way of doing it would be to put each swf on
a seperate page and have the script call up it's URL. Seems like
that would add a lot of overhead and duplicate uploading each time
the user switches photo categories.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for taking the time to
give me some guidance - much appreciated.

Justifying Mac vs PC for business

I have an iMac at home but my employer is strictly PC-based. I'm the manager of communications and marketing, and we use a creative agency to develop our materials. I'm due for a laptop upgrade and some in our IT group support my desire to switch to a MBP, but the management isn't as ready to make a switch. Since so many apps and files are now transparent between Macs and PCs, I can't really make the argument that having a PC limits my ability to open and work with files that come through from the agency, photographers, etc.
Clearly, I recognize that the photo manipulation that I do myself would be far simpler on a MBP. What other sound business reasons can you suggest? I would certainly like to end up with a MBP, but if there aren't really any more compelling business reasons, then I can't very well argue for one. Thoughts?

Laptop Macs are competitive with PC laptops on price. The MacBook Core2Duo starts at $1,100. Geesh! Come on you can do better than that!
I had a recent discussion with our CIO. He pointed out that he cannot support two different computer baselines. I responded by saying to him he doesn't support the laptops anyway. I asked my CIO to describe specifically the support he provides. He couldn't. As an example, if a PC breaks they call Dell. If my MBP breaks, Apple fixes it. If I have a problem and I can't part with the computer I walk into the Apple store and ask them to look at it. Although I will add that hasn't happened in about 4 years. The support our CIO does provide is infrastructure related (i.e. the network, servers etc..) anything else is outsourced.
I've observed that the problems most CIOs have experienced with PCs and Windows have predisposed CIOs to mitigate their risks, read fears, by not allowing Macs into the business place. Definitely misplaced fears and risk mitigation practice.
Most applications are web based. therefore there is no proprietary software to run natively on my PC or my MBP. As an example, I can use salesforce.com or Webex interchangeably on my PC and my MBP. Other applications like Oracle are supported on the Mac. Our Juniper VPN is also supported on both platforms. Office 2004 and 2008 for the Mac is interchangeable with Office 2007 for Windows (with minor exceptions). All files are inter-changeable, however. Our software engineers use PPC Macs and Intel Macs for software development. I can even access our PC/Windows U: drive or Sharepoint servers to access files; either over our intranet or over the Internet via VPN. Geesh!
We also use iChat video to bring people into meetings without the need for our unreliable Polycom equipment. I travel alot, and its really nice to video chat to boys at school or talk to my wife while I am in Germany, Hong Kong, Boston, or Denver.
I guess the point I am making is that there is no reason not to bring Macs into the office. Rather than trying to justify using Macs, I think there should be a justification for staying with PCs and Windows in light of the Virus risks. I can't see any reason.
I think IT departments should focus on the real issues, like improvements in network security, fighting SPAM, network bandwidth, and storage. I am certain that no one is happy with their wireless bandwidths in their respective offices.
I think the support argument is specious and has gone the way of the dodo!
BTW, I got my MBP after this discussion.

Avahi and howl

I came across an interesting conflict today -- if I install gobby and later install gnome I cannot install howl... but... howl WAS installed when I installed gobby, as gobby requires obby and obby requires howl. However when I installed gnome, it seems howl was replaced with avahi, which conflicts with howl, and thus I couldn't install howl again -- gobby complained howl was needed for a collaborative editing session!
So, I decided I didn't need gnome anyhow (I'll stick to blackbox) so I uninstalled gnome (pacman -Rcn gnome), then uninstalled gobby and re-installed it, and viola! howl is back!
Is this kind of caper common with Arch? I must admit it's much more fun than the usual "dependency hell" of RPMs or DEBs -- mostly because I was able to actually get everything working again with some un/re-installing of packages!

Yep you're right, avahi and howl are interchangeable.
I uninstalled gobby and howl, and then installed avahi followed by gobby just to check the inter-changeable-ness of avahi and howl, and when I ran gobby the warnings in the console did indeed mention avahi and a howl compatibility layer.
When reverting back to my original howl/gobby setup, uninstalling avahi didn't work with pacman -Rs avahi. I had to use pacman -Rc avahi instead, because nss-mdns depended ON avahi, however nss-mdns was istalled as a dependency OF avahi. Is this a kind of co-dependency?
I'm new to Arch and I've found that these kinds of "inter-dependency puzzles" are handled really well by pacman -- it's awesome

Charging cable identification problem

Hi,
I found the iPad charging very slowly lately. It seemed that the kids have been messing around with all the chargers and cables we have around (7 in total).
Now I found out that the iPad needs its own charger and cable due to power consumption.
Now I found the charger by looking at the output (10W), but how to find/identify the right (original iPad) cable to get the iPad to charge high power as normal.
At least I guess it also needs its own original cable?
There is no way I can tell which cable is which?
I assume at least that the cable when plugged into the iPad identifies it self as being for iPad and high power consumption.
The iPad itself displays nothing, only if it wil or will not be charged, but not if it runs on low charge or high power charge.
Any help, ideas how to solve this and find the right cable?

The cables are the same and should be inter-changeable (unless you have any old firewire cables) - I use an old iPod cable to charge or sync my iPad, iPhone and iPod. It is only the charger itself that matters.

HP Envy TouchSmart M6 Sleekbook Recovery

Hi I have a HP Envy TouchSmart M6 Sleekbook and it came with a recovery disc but the problem is my sleekbook does not have CD Rom to put in. How can I still do a complete system recovery and bypass the question of putting in a CD when I don't have a CD Rom to place it in?

You can utilize the recovery CD with the use of an external CD ROM. Although, not every device requires an external CD ROM the requirements to make devices portable force us to begin using such devices. The nice thing about an external CD ROM is that it is inter-changeable between multiple devices. I would recommend that if you are going to be using portable technology that you purchase one.
There is also the option of creating an USB Flash Drive recovery image. I am providing you a link to an HP support document called 'HP PCs - Creating Recovery Discs or Saving a Recovery Image to a USB Flash Drive (Windows 8)' which will explain how to create it.

WAAS HHD query

i wanted to know if hard drives are same for below WAAS models and are inter-changeable between them.
WAE-612-K9 --> WAVE-694-K9
WAE-7371-K9 --> WAVE-8541-K9
Note : I need a Cisco TAC engineer specialized in WAAS helping me answering the query.

Cisco WAAS supports asymmetric routing through the use of sharing network interception and redirection configuration across WAN boundary routers within a location. If all routers that connect a location to the WAN are participating in the same WCCPv2 service groups or have the same list of WAEs configured as next-hop routers (in the same order), the same WAE will receive redirected traffic regardless of the WAN link that traffic was destined to or coming in from.
For instance, if a customer has two WAN connections - one going to provider #1 and another going to provider #2, WCCPv2 can be configured such that the routers participate in the same WCCPv2 service groups, and the WAEs can be configured to register with both of the routers. This also requires that the WCCPv2 redirection configuration be applied identically across each of the routers within the same location, i.e. use of 61/in on the LAN side on both routers and 62/out on the LAN side on both routers (or any valid combination of 61/62 in/out as long as they are identical amongst all routers within the location).
As traffic enters a WAN boundary router, it will determine which WAE to redirect the traffic to based on a hash of either the source IP (service group 61 in the network path) or destination IP (service group 62 in the network path). The allocated hash buckets are synchronized within the service group, and the hash value obtained at either router will be the same as it would be had the traffic been forwarded through the opposite router. In this way, traffic is always redirected to the same WAE every time, regardless of which WAN link is used, or which router the traffic was forwarded to or through. As such, Cisco WAAS provides support for environments where asymmetric routing may be encountered.

Inter company COGS and Cost Components in COPA

Looked at so many threads but couldn't find a proper answer.
Scenario: Company B in Canada books a sales order, delivering from a Plant in Company A in US. US bills Canada at Cost + Mark up.
In US:
On Goods issue COGS is booked based on std in US (say $10)
On Inter company billing - (Cost + 20% mark up) Inter company receivable is $12, this triggers a payable on Canada side.
In Canada:
We can have $12 booked as COGS when Payable entry is created in Canada through IDOC. so Accounting is OK.
How can I have this COGS of $12 posted in COPA ? Somewhere I read to use two condition types for VPRS, but unfortunately we cant do that as we have revenue recognition activated. only VPRS condition values comes through revenue recognition lines.
Since Delivering plant in US has a Standard cost of $10, VPRS is $10 in sales order and COPA gets the cost components from US plant, which is not correct. How can I have the mark up of $2 reflected in Cost components in COPA ?.
Assuming that I create a standard Cost estimate in a virtual Plant in Canada for $12 with two cost components for $10 and $2. Is it possible to manipulate VPRS on sales order to point to standard cost from this virtual plant and create a costing key to bring the cost split from this virtual plant into COPA. Has anybody tried this ?

1. Does this material always necessitates a supply from US company??
If yes, then your task is easy.. Create a Costing Key and assign to such materials in KE4H... In this Costing Key, do not tick the radio button "Use Line Item Plant as Cost estimate Plant".... Instead, You can specify the default PLANT to be used for reading the Cost Estimates in the field "Specify Cost estimate PLant"
You can use the above solution in case you go with Virtual Plant also
2. Are you saying that the VPRS in Sales order punched in Canadian comp code is 10 USD because the Delivery Plant is in US comp code?
I dont know how does Revenue recog behave in your case and when does VPRS (COGS) flow to COPA.... As you said, VPRS gets the feed from RR, so will manually manipulating the VPRS in sales order help you??
Anyways, the 2nd solution is as below... Few companies have used it
There is an output type in SD called RD04... I may not be fully right here, you can take it as RD0*... Ask your SD guy to identify the right output type
Using this, When you do the PGI in Canadian Comp code,

you can create a Virtual STO on USA Comp code....
USA does PGI and the stock virtually comes in Canadian Comp code
Then PGI happens from Canadian Comp code

This is a change in your process... The delivery plant for all practical purposes becomes Canadian Plant (only on paper)... Your Physical process can continnue as Delivery from USA...
This solution was adopted when both the companies were in same country.... Check with your business how far is it possibie for you
3. Last option would be to use valuation exit COPA0002.... I dont know how you would use it considering you have RR in place....

Inter-company Sub-contracting

Dear Experts,
I am working on a scenerio where
Plant A is sending Components to Plant B.
Then In plant B the processing is done on those components and a semifinished material is made.
Then the Semifinished Material is recieved back into plant A.
I am trying to map this process in SAP like as INTER COMPANY SUBCONTRACTING.
I am following the steps,
1) Sub-contracting PO in plant A. (me21n)
2) Outbound delivery against PO in plant B.
But facing problem while taking Goods Reciept against Outbound delivery in plant....it is showing error
*Goods receipt not possible for delivery 800050: error code 3*
can anybody tell me where i am doing a mistake. or plz suggest if any customisation required for this process

Have done PGI in VL02N you can get PGI tab in Delivery header details.if done PGI check delivery follow on documents material document created or not.
Check in PO confirmation tab have you maintained any confirmation controle key.If yes Po requires inbound delivery.If you dont want to create Inbound delivery Remove confirmation controle key in Po confirmations tab.Then do MIGO it will allow.

How to call view from Diffrent Components

Hi Experts,
In my application 5 component(comp1,comp2,comp3,comp4,comp5) under one DC.
In Comp1-> View1 have a drop down to select business operations, View Container with empty view while starting.
Ex: one,two, three, four list of values in drop down.
If i select Two from drop down, it should display view from comp2->View1 in ViewContainer.
Like this it should display view from diffrent component in comp1->View1 (Inter Componet Communication).
This application developing in CE 7.1 & NWDS 7.1 not in 2004s..
Please any one help me to do this requirement .....

Hi,
The simplest solution in this case is to create another DC component.
This will have a single window with (a) ViewSet Container(s). Then you will have to create a window per view in your first DC Component.
After this - you will need to add the first DC component to the second DC component (under used DC Components). This is done by first creating public parts of the first DC and adding to the second, following which you need to right click "Used DC components" in the second DC and select the first. You may need to do this multiple times for different windows.
After this - in your second DC you will need to embed the Component Interface views of each of the windows to the View Set Containers (as created previously).
Next you will need to write some code in the onSelect Action for the DropDown that will manage the visibility of the different views.
