Interaction with Microsoft Word using Java Programming

writing Text ON TO MICROSOFT WORD USING java Programming Urgently required

Go throuh jakarta POI(hssf) to do..No! HSSF which stands for Horrible SpreadSheet Format can be used for Excel (spreadsheets as the name suggests). For Word, you would need to lok at HPSF.

  • Cannot Interact with Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac after Opening

After I open Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac, either by opening a .docx file or opening Word from the Applications folder, I am not able to interact with the application whatsoever.  Selecting its icon in the dock does not bring any of its windows to the front, nor does it show the Word menu at the top; instead, it still shows the menu of whatever application was previously selected.  But the windows do exist if I move other windows out of the way.  If I do get to a Word window, I cannot click on anything, select anything, resize it, close it, or scroll.
Other info: If I click and hold the Word icon in the doc, the menu displays as if the application were functioning normally; it does not show a Force Quit option, as it would if Word were frozen.  I do not see any dialogue boxes or anything that would take the focus away from the other windows.
Background: I was able to successfully use Word without any problems before today, using the same installation of the application, same computer, and same operating system. I also never had this problem before Mavericks, though, as I said before, I didn't always have this problem in Mavericks.
How do I get Word to function normally again?  Thanks for any help you can provide!

After letting Word run for quite a while, a popup window told me there was an issue with the database.  I opened the Microsoft Database Utility and rebuilt the database.  It seems to be working fine now.

I am having problems interacting with Microsoft Office programs since the last update:cannot create a pdf through the 'print' menu in exel and both Word and Exel docs sent in Mac Mail end up being received as .dat files.
Both these situations have cropped up on my MacBook Pro since the last update.
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers
    Bob

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

  • How to open .doc files created with microsoft word 97... when using mac os x 10.7.4?

hi!  i'm using mac os x 10.7.4 and have Office 2011.  i can no longer open older documents (.doc) created with Microsoft Word 97...  What can i do to get access to these files?
    thanks in advance!

I had too many of these that I had to convert to a modern format. It isn't easy or consistent but one of these normally works:
    1. Open up Word and use the File/Open command rather than just double clicking on the file. Why does this sometimes work? I don't know! Save in docx format.
    2. Try opening the files in Office 2010 on a Windows machine. Again, immediately save as a docx file. This works more often than the advice above.
    3. Download the free LibreOffice and try opening it there. There will be some format problems but easily fixed. Once again, save in docx format.
    4. Breakdown and look for a dedicated format converter.

  • Yosemite compatibility with microsoft word 2008

I had held off on upgrading to Mavericks because of the issues surrounding the compatibility with Microsoft Word 2008. I am a student and need to use Word to do my work as well as having all of my current documents, including my thesis, in 2008 format. I don't want to risk losing the information or the ability to do my work and I was wondering if there is any information about whether the issue of compatibility with this version had been fixed. I don't have the means to buy a new version of Microsoft but would very much like to be able to update my system since I am still using Mountain Lion.

There has been a better and free alternative to old versions of MS Word and MS Office since forever. Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 is the latest version of a free and complete All-In-One document processor, spreadsheet, drawing, presentation, database, & formula software, found here: http://www.openoffice.org
It also reads, writes and translates MS Word, saves in many formats, and is pretty easy to use. It's entirely modern and compatible with all the latest Mac operating systems. Good luck.

  • How do I send my pages attachment so that it will open for those with Microsoft word?

How do I send my pages attachment so that it will open for those with Microsoft Word?

    Hi Victoria,
Pages does not run on Windows.
Word cannot open a Pages file.
If you want someone without pages to be able to open your attachment, you will have to send it in a format openable on the recipient's computer.
If the recipient needs only to read the document, the most universal format is pdf. To send a pdf copy of your file, press command-P to open the Print dialogue, then click the PDF button and choose email PDF. This will open a new message in your default email client and attach the pdf file to that message.
If the recipient needs to be able to edit/change your document, and has MS Word, then either Save a copy as a Word file or go File > Export and choose Word as the file format for the export.
Be aware that MS Word does not support all features of Pages (and vice versa), and that formatting of the document may be affected by font substitution if you use fonts that are not available on the recipient's machine.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How to find cd rom drive in windows and unix platform using java program

    Hi,
I am having the requirement of finding the cd rom drive
using java program. I do not know the label and which
one is the cd rom drive. also I want to know how many
cd rom drives are there on my system. I want the solution
    for windows and unix platforms.
If have any suggestions please mail to [email protected]

Ughhh.. I had the same problem with multi platform file-system detection
    First off - Unix.
Do you know for sure you have all your drives mounted?? This could be a big problem because java will not see unmounted drives... So you can scour thru your /etc/fstab to find out which drives are available... or you can mount all and show roots... (Yuck!)... You've got timeouts and all sorts of things to worry about...
I would then shy away from the java.io.File.listRoots() on unix and rely on parsing your fs file. If a user would like to see the medium in the drive. Do a Runtime.exec and mount the drive, then you can grab the filesystem by wrapping it in the java.io.File object. ( NOTE - this will hold well for your NFS mounts as well which might be buried under other FS. So you now have detection for that as well. ) Labels are also noted in this file. Let me know if you don't know the difference between mtab and fstab....
Second - Winders.... Corney but I love saying that.
The listRoots is a good solution. As others have said CD-ROMS will not be writable. Use a combination of getName and getPath to decipher the label and mount point.
    Hope this helps!

    Welcome to the Sun forums.

    JNI. (No.)
    >
is there any java class available to do this ? or any one having sample code for this?>You will generally get better help around here if you read the documentation, try some sample code and come back with a specific question (hopefully with an SSCCE included).

Your friend Zoe>(raised eyebrow) Thank you for sharing that with us.
Note also that one '?' denotes a question, while 2 or more generally denotes a dweeb.

    In Linux FC5 using JDK1.6, this code         File temp = new File(System.getProperty("user.home") + "/abcdefghijklmn");
System.out.println(temp.createNewFile());prints 'true' and the file is created with length zero.
