Interactive sorting using java crystalReportViewer

we are building a crystal report web project using eclipse gallieo.
technologies used are Struts2 AND jsp.
And our requirement is to show interactive sorting as well as to export as HTML as crystal report viewer toolbar option .
we have done a lot searching using google but didnot find any useful.
so if it is possible please provide some code for it.

An old fashioned way to add dynamic sorting is to use a group on a variable that reverses the letters of the text values depending on which column and whether user chooses Ascending or Descending. Does not even need SDK. The HTML export can be done using report parts but will not do well for full complex reports.

I don't think this is possible. Last time I tried this was when the product released approx 2 years ago and I have not heard of this functionality being added in.

Interactive sorting

I have a SSRS 2012 report with a calculated field called "NEW MONEY". It's a simple expression calculated by the following:
=Fields!PURCHASES.Value - Fields!REDEMPTIONS.Value
I'm running into issues when trying to create a interactive sort on the calculated field. The system seems to freeze up on me.
I simple used the this expression in the interactive sort
=Fields!PURCHASES.Value - Fields!REDEMPTIONS.Value on the header for the calculated field.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be going wrong?

Per my understanding that you want to add the interactive sorting on an new added column called ”NEW MONEY” which values calculated using expression: =Fields!PURCHASES.Value - Fields!REDEMPTIONS.Value, when you setting the interactive sorting, you put this
expression in the Sort by: =Fields!PURCHASES.Value - Fields!REDEMPTIONS.Value as the column header, now interactive sort setting don’t work, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce your issue, you problem can be caused by the wrong way you are creating this calculated field and setting the interactive sorting, if you add the expression “=Fields!PURCHASES.Value - Fields!REDEMPTIONS.Value”
in the table’s new column and type the “NEW MONEY” in the Column header, then set the interactive sort using expression in the column header which will makes the sorting not work.
Actually, jakkampudi have mentioned to create an Calculated field and drag this field to the new column. You can take reference of details steps below to do the correct action:
Right click the DataSet and select the “Add Calculated fields”
Click Add to add the new Calculated field.
Name: NEWMONEY
Value: Fields!PURCHASES.Value - Fields!REDEMPTIONS.Value
Insert an new Column and Drag the NewMoney fields to this Column.
Right Click the column header “New Money” and select the “Text Box Properties”, Select the Interactive Sorting and do the setting as below:
When preview you will find the interactive sorting works fine.

Can values returned by a lookupset be used for interactive sorting or a report filter?

I have a report that uses multiple stored procedures. I am using the lookupset function to return the values, then I sum the values with custom code, and have them display all into one tablix. However I can not figure out how to use interactive
sorting or a report filter with values returned by the lookupset function.
My question is:
Can you use values returned by a lookupset for interactive sorting or a report filter?

Based on my understanding, you want to perform interactive sorting or filter for the values which come from multiple datasets.
In Reporting Services, LookupSet()function is used to retrieve a set of values from the specified dataset. So in your scenario, we should use Lookup() function to retrieve values from specified dataset, then perform interactive sorting or filter.
As we tested in our environment, we retrieve values using Lookup() function form datasets, then sum these values with custom code. After enable interactive sorting or filter for these values, we can get expected results.
1. Add custom code below in Report Properties.
Public Shared Value as Integer=0
Public Shared Function GetValue(Item as Integer) as Integer
value= value + Item
return Item
End Function
Public Shared Function GetTotal()
Dim a as integer
a=value
value=0
return a
End Function
2. Enable Interactive Sorting.
3. Add filter within the group.

Create offline interactive forms using webdynpro java with XML data source

I am having a scenario like below:
Sales guy request for order list online from portal- Sytem receives the request and creat XML file- from xml file need to create a Offline interactive form-Sales guy fills it offline at customer site- uploads in portal -on submit xml has to be generated with captured data at customer site-Process to ECC.
So my questions are:
How to create the offline interactive form from XML?
Once filled offline interactive form uploaded into portal how to create XML again from pdf ?
Please give some idea on this as this is my first Offline interactive form using XML datasource.

Sorry for replying lately. First of all I did not get your suggestions as your are editing the same posting.
Secondly we will be using WDJ. Actually in between SAP Portal and ECC we are having adobe LCES so we need to create Interactive form using XML only. Once it is filled again the form will be submitted to another application which is running on FLEX, which will process the order.

How to interact with google search engine using java HTTP POST

I am trying to develop an desktop app that acts as an online radio tuner. I want to use google as an index site for actually searching for radio stations online. So I was wandering if it is possible for me to use java to actually interface with the google search engine servers. For example, I have built a gui that allows you to enter search text. This gui will connect to the web. I would like it to connect to the Google site and post the query to the google web servers. Then i would like to began to parse the response( html page) that i get back from the google servers. Like using google without actually typing in the text field on the google site. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to do this with java. If so, what would be the best way to go about doing this. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. It was actually alot easier to do than I anticipated. All I had to do was create a URL object initialized with the google url(search text embedded in the url - http://www.google.com/search?q=" + searchText + "&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF8).
Looks like this:

Access database using Java from HTML webpage

Hi,
I've got to create some online maths tests to be taken by students with their marks being stored in a database.
I've wrote some simple java code which can add/remove and modify entries in a test mySQL database that I made. What I now need to do is be able to add entries to the database from a html page.
The math tests will be java applets with the students having to interact according to questions, press submit and their score will be output. The score will then be entered into the database.
The problem I'm having is that with an Applet their are all sorts of security issues (I'm having problems getting images to load in an Applet) so assume I'll face the same security issues when I try to access a database through an applet.
So, could someone please help get started.

If so then does this mean I should completely seperate the user interface (the actual applets that will contain the test), the database (that will store the results) and the link between the two?
is it possible to acheive this using Java, Java Applets, Java Script and the database (in my case mySQL) and could you give me some tips on how best to tackle the problem.

How to delete message from the fodler of AOL account using Java mail

I am using Java MAil API in my application, i want to delete message from AOL account's folder,
when i set the folder as "Recently Deleted" or "Trash" , i get an exception as "folder does not exist".
when i tested , some times mail is moving into Recently Deleted folder, but not every time.
this is happening in both the interface as AOl Interface or my application.
when i use folder.close(true) after setting the flag of message as DELETED. it completely remove the message from the acount.
but i want to let the message be remained in the Recently Deleted folder. what should i do.
i dont want to remove the message completely from the account.I am using IMAP also.

You'll need to figure out what the real name of the "Recently Deleted" folder is on the AOL IMAP server
(assuming it's a real folder and not some sort of "virtual" folder), then copy the message into that folder.
See the folderlist.java demo program as a way to explore the names of all the folders on the server.

IllegalStateException while invoking livecycle formserver using java api

I am new to livecycle formserver.when i am trying to invoke formserver using java api ,it is giving illegal state exception.My servlet application to invoke formserver is deployed in tomcat 5.o in one system and jboss with formserver is in anohter system.

My .xdp file is in my localsystem where my tomcat is running.and renderToHtml method is like this:

This is how I resolved the issue.
1) Requested ABAPer to provide me sorted data. The data has been sorted in descending order of actual_cost.
2) After that I used following code. This resolved the issue.

What is the easiest way to iterate through all the records in a given table using Java API? I cannot find any methods that will return all records in a table and the only way I can use is to perform a free form search with a condition that is always true. The code works but is pretty ugly. Is there an alternative to this approach?

Hi Kenny,
You can construct a new Search object with your table's code name, a new ResultSetDefinition object for your table and just execute this search using the GetResultSet method of CatalogData.
Please look at the following code:
Search search = new Search(<code name of your table>);
ResultSetDefinition rsd = new ResultSetDefinition(<code name of your table>);
rsd.AddField<code name of a field>);
rsd.AddField(<code name of a field>);
String sortField = <code name of your sort field>;
boolean sortAscending = true;
int page = 0; //page number
A2iResultSet rs = <your CatalogData object>.GetResultSet(search, rsd, sortField, sortAscending, page);
