Interesting PCD bug? Runaway process creating objects?

Currently, we are on EP 6 sp 16. We have had a very interesting situation occur with our development portal at random times. Not always, but every so often, the following happens. We will either copy an oobject (for instance an iView) to another folder or change the id on an object. As we step through the wizard on the final step where it should complete the action, it will sit at 50% complete and just flash over and over....50%....over and over....after several minutes, it will error out. You would think that nothing happened, but what actually happens is that it makes THOUSANDS of copies of the object...naming them like myiview_0, myiview_1, myiview_10, myiview_100, myiview_1000, myiview_2, myiview_20....and on and on. And yes, there will be thousands made. As you can guess, it is VERY annoying. Luckily our folder layout makes it easy to simply go delete the whole folder with all the multiple copies, but had we not done that.....geeez....lots of work. What is worse is that sometimes, you can't actually see all the duplicate objects until the portal is restarted (I found this out, because they showed when I tried to create a package but not in the PCD in content admin). They actually are invisible in the PCD!
Sooooo anyone else run across this? Any idea why this might be happening?

Well...no one seemed to be having the same problem. We have not found the root cause, but thankfully, using the PCD Inspector tool makes it MUCH easier to delete all the "corrupt" objects (though it is still time consuming as each "hiccup" creats about 30 pages of bad objects). I will just mark this one up to one of those portal "oddities". =)

  • Error: Internal/Bug( #609) Automation server can't create  object

    Hi Friends,
    I am new to Oracle BPEL.
    I am getting the following error message when I click Flow,Audit and Debug tabs after deploying the process.
    Error: Internal/Bug( #609) Automation server can't create object
    Had anybody faced this problem and resolved it?

    IIRC this can be down to browser security setting. You may find you needs to turn some security options on (or at least set to 'prompt' under tools- > internet settings -> secuirty - > custom level... etc

  • XML Parsing and creating objects..

    I need to create objects with the value present in the XML file under a specific tag.
    E.g.:
    XML file:

    </employee>
    </employees>
    There may be tags other than <employees> in the XML file.
    I need to parse this file and create objects of class
    Employees{
    String firstName,lastName,empid,dept;
    Please help me.
    As I am new with this, it would be better if you provide me some with code.
    Thanks & Regards,

    You can od it using SAX of course but the implementation is completely different. As I haven't used any SAX approach for many years, I can't provide you any example but you should find many of them either with google or by downloading any java implementation (like Xerces, Xalan...)
    The better solution depends on your needs. That's the standard answer, I know :)
    when you use DOM, you load the entire content of the file in the memory. and then you travel through the JAVA structure that has been created by using the methods I gave you.
    When you use SAX, you define a listener for your parser that will be called any time the parser finds something interesting. a new node, a new attribute, a new node content... sometimes it's a pain to implement.
    In my opinion if your application will only handle one message at a time, you should keep the DOM approach because I don't think there will be any big difference in time processing. On the other hand if your application will potentially manage multiple messages at the same time, then your computer memory can be overloaded by a DOM approach and the you will face bad performances, in such case use the SAX approach.
    as a conclusion, the best way to make a decision is to run benchmarks. good luck :)

    I have the same errors occurring at an alarming rate. I did isolate it to the App Store. Specifically when checking for an update. I was hoping that you could test this out for me. Go to your console log and select all messages and then check kernel in the sender box (bottom left). I found that now is a good time to insert a marker. Now launch the app store then got to the update section. Select check for update.
    Does this generate a series of the errors? I can reproduce the errors every time I "check for updates". The error would not show up when checking for updates in iTunes.
    I did notice errors in both extending from CFNetwork

  • BPM Process Data Object vs Managed Bean

    I need to store an ID which is the primary key of a record in a database in my BPM process so that I can use that to set the bind variable on my view object query. Is it better to store this ID in a process data object or in a managed bean and why is one better than the other?

    I suggest to do the other way.
    Store the BPM Process Instance Id in the Database when you create data in the table.
    Pass this Instance Id to the VO query parameters.
    You can create a page binding of this instance Id from the Data Controls
    I am assuming there is a 1-1 relation between your BPM Process and Database Row.

  • BPM Process Data Object of type Business Objects

    I am using JDeveloper11.1.1.5 and using BPM Project. I have created a business object of type Quote and I want create a Process data object of type Quote. But I don't find 'Browse more types' button on Create data object wizard. I am stuck at this place. Is there any work around or do I need to revert to older version of Jdeveloper.

    We have a process web service, which is used to create, notify and update BPM process instances.
    This process web service is accessed from Java code.
    The java code uses a re-try mechanism to talk to the process web service.
    We want this to be changed using wait-notify. But we have only the string value for Process Instance ID.
    Can anybody help me on how could we get the BPM process instance object with the Process Instance ID?
    I hope for this case we should synchronize on the BPM process Instance Object.
    Please find below the current code snippet with re-try which needs to be changed as wait-notify.
    for(int i = retryCount; i >= 0; i--) {
    try {
    sResult = wsClient.notifyUpdate(oEvent, oTG, sInstId);
    break;
    catch(Exception e) {
    if(i == 0) {
    throw e;
    logger.error(getClass().getName() + " - Failed to call wsClient.notifyUpdate()");
    try {
    logger.info(getClass().getName() + " - Retrying bpmUpdateProcessInstance ... " + (retryCount - i + 1) + " times in "
    + (System.currentTimeMillis() - startTimeMillis) + " millis.");
    Thread.sleep(retryInterval);
    catch(InterruptedException ignore) {
         //silent catch is fine here
    }// end for loop

    Hi,
    Please correct me if I miss-understood your question.
    You want to know the process instance Id of a particular BPM process ?
    You want to do it through java code or in BPM process layer ?
    Which version of OBPM/ALBPM you are using ?

  • Interesting thread bug

    Hi,
    I'm developing a client/server whiteboard system for my term project. I've hit to an interesting threading bug. The very brief description of the goal is like this: A client has a method (getActiveUsers) to get the list of active(logged in) users from server. In order to accomplish this, it sends a command to server to receive the user list. In an undeterministic time frame, the server sends a message as a reply, which includes the user list. When the client gets the user list, it is expected to update its local user list. The code for these goes like this:
    // The method that returns the list of active users
    // in the system
    public Vector getActiveUsers()
    synchronized(activeUsers)
    channel.send(new ListActiveUsers(username));
    try
    activeUsers.wait();
    catch (InterruptedException e) {}
    return activeUsers;
    // The method that is fired when a new message
    // is received (Observer pattern)
    public void update(Message msg){
    if (msg instanceof ActiveUsersList)
    synchronized(activeUsers)
    activeUsers=((ActiveUsersList)msg).activeUserList;
    activeUsers.notifyAll();
    return;
    inform(msg);
    the Error message is this:
    java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: current thread not owner
         at java.lang.Object.notifyAll(Native Method)
         at domain.Whiteboard.update(Whiteboard.java:49)
         at services.messaging.Channel.inform(Channel.java:95)
    How can a thread be not owner of an object when it enters a synchronized block for that object?
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards...

    You synchronized on one object, referred to by your variable activeUsers, but then you reassigned activeUsers to refer to a different object and called notifyAll on that object. Remind yourself of the difference between variables and objects.

  • Best way to creat Objects

    Hi gurus,
    I am in a process of converting CRs to Universe. Based on the business area , I gathered a set of reports that to be converted to Universe. Joining of tables is almost done. Now I am in process of creating objects.
    As we are going in the Bottom- Up approach as the reports are already existed in CR. After analyzing couple of reports, I found lot of formula fields for one report which are in a set of ranges like 0-10, 10-20, 20-30 etc.., with Grand totals, %.
    Should I create each and every object like 0-10, 10-20 ( for one report, I have 50+ formula fields).
    Please suggest me the best way to go or any suggestion the Webi reporting part.
    Thanks
    RUC

    I would recommend creating object with formulas at universe level using universe functions and using Database functions. This will be very useful to create reports on demand. also give flexibility to user to create ad-hoc report.
    Also for specific formulas (which are very report specific) you can create them in universe and hide it from users if you don't want user to use them in ad-hoc reporting.
    for formulas like (Bucket)
    0-10, 10-20, 20-30
    you can use CASE WHEN functionality of database (I am assuming oracle here)
    like
    CASE
    WHEN [Obj] > 0 and [obj] < 10 then '0-10'
    END
    I hope this helps.

  • Creating objects with proper stereotypes

    Hi,
    I'm just trying to create Architecture Areas and Business Functions using VB. This all works as expected, besides of one small but important exception:
    I want to create Architecture Areas and Business Functions of a given type (Stereotype).
    When I create the Architecture Area or Business Function, assign the code and name, and then set the Stereotype, everything looks OK. The Stereotype is appearing on the symbol etc., but ... the graphical symbol differs from what we have configured for this element.
    In the script I'm doing it this way:
    L2Process = EamL2.ArchitectureAreas.CreateNew(PdEam.cls_ArchitectureArea)
    L2Process.SetNameAndCode Trim(L3SubSubFolder.Name), Trim(L3SubSubFolder.Code)
    L2Process.Stereotype = "Process"
    The Architecture Area is created, the Stereotype is assigned:
    But the graphical symbol is not the expected one, it"s rather the "default" one ...
    What I have configured is:
    Is there a way to create Architecture areas and Business Functions, so that the configured Custom Symbols are used? MAybe a parameter for CreateNew like in the CreateModel function, where we can set the Diagram Type?
    CreateModel(PdEAM.cls_Model, EvaluateNamedPath("%_MODELS%") + L3SubSubFolder.Name + ".eam" + "|" + "Diagram=CityPlanningDiagram", omf_DontOpenView)
    I can't find anything in the documentation in regards to this issue...
    Thanks,
    Rafal

    Hi Rafal,
    Could you try creating object directly in the collection using the GetCollectionBySteretype("Process") on model ?
    Something like:
    Dim processes
    Set processes = EamL2.GetCollectionByStereotype("Process")
    Set L2Process = processes.CreateNew()
    L2Process.SetNameAndCode Trim(L3SubSubFolder.Name), Trim(L3SubSubFolder.Code)
    This should assign stereotype at initialization and may be fix your issue...
    Marc
    PS. I did not check code, take care of potential typo.

  • Creating Object views using XSU PL/SQL.Please SEE.

    Hi,
    I am presently using XSU PL/SQL utility with Oracle 9i and using the
    DBMS_XMLQuery.newContext(<My Select clause goes here>,and the
    DBMS_XMLQuery.getXML()which generates an XML document.
    My query is:
    I have 2 tables (One master and the other detail table.).
    Table : DI_Master
    di_num
    00001
    Table: DI_Details
    di_num di_act
    00001 ABCD
    00001 ANCF
    00001 IOPP
    Now the XML I'd like is :
    <di_num>00001</di_num>
    <di_act>
    <val>ABCD</val>
    <val>ANCF</val>
    <val>IOPP</val>
    </di_act>
    Do I need to create object tables for this,insert data into object tables
    and then read this table? It will become an extremely tedious process
    I guess an OBJECT view can do what I want.Can anyone please tell me how
    to write an object view for the 2 tables please and the get the output as
    desired.?

    Supposing you have further
    nesting of the tables.Then how will you go about doing that.You can have multiple levels of CURSOR expressions (see an example below, not a real-life example, but illustrates the point).
    SQL> set long 4000

    Also,isnt it a better option to create a VIEW of the
    Select clause and pass a view to the select clause? At the end of the day, you could use whatever you feel comfortable with, provided that it produces your expected output and looks clean. We are just giving you the ideas, how you implement it actually in your situation, depends upon a lot of factors, that only you know about.

  • Catch assertion_failed on create object

    Hi,
    I create an object based on user input. When the user makes a typo, I get an assertion_failed dump, although I've encapsulated it wit a try catch on cx_root.
    How can I catch an assertion_failed in order to prevent a dump?
    Eddy

    @Eddy
    You can do a simple check before creating instance of this class
    DATA: gr_typedescr  TYPE REF TO cl_abap_typedescr,
          gr_obj        TYPE REF TO object.
    DATA: gt_params     TYPE abap_parmbind_tab.
    CALL METHOD cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_name(
    EXPORTING
      p_name         = 'CL_GUI_ALV_GRID2'
    RECEIVING
      p_descr_ref    = gr_typedescr
    EXCEPTIONS
      type_not_found = 1
      OTHERS         = 2 ).
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
      CREATE OBJECT gr_obj TYPE ('CL_GUI_ALV_GRID2')
        PARAMETER-TABLE gt_params.
    ENDIF.
    @Tomek
    If the result of log_exp is false, for an always active assertion (without the addition ID) an untreatable exception is triggered and the program terminates with the runtime error ASSERTION_FAILED.
    Actually this depends on configuration made in SAAB . The processing might still go on if other config option is set.

  • Overview of Leave --- CREATE OBJECT: The class  was not found., error key:

    Dear Gurus,
    Iam facing this problem that, when i try to open the Leave Overview from the leave request screen. it gives the dump with message
    CREATE OBJECT: The class  was not found., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
    this also creates a dump in the back end.
    The same dump is appearing when i try to view the Check Documents for the same employee from PTARQ.
    Thanks in advance
    Ramnath

    Hi ,
    please find the following solution .it will definitely work .
    If you leave configuration is done.
    There was an incorrect data in your system. To do these please follow following process.
    delete this request using
    PTARQ> Delete documents (RPTARQDBDEl)
    Please read the report documentation before
    deleting the request but it should be safe as it is
    a development system.
    Please delete this with the above information or delete all
    the records for the approver.
    After this,, there will be some incorrect workitem in approver inbox.
    You need to clear that also by Tcode - SWWL.
    ALSO check the leave request workflow of that employee and if there is any error workflow lying in the workflow delete the leave request (which was created with error) Note down the id initiater ( which had error) and in the Test Environment for Leave request (PTARQ) gave the PERNR and delete the documents ( give the id iniater in the document status ).
    To check the error work flow go to SWIA and check for that Workflow (Leave) raised by the PERNR at that duration ( check in IT2001 for the duration) and give it here.
    After deleting it check in the portal for the leave request if any error is occuring when trying to apply for leave.
