Interfacing hardware devices using Java

Respected Sir,
i want to interface hardware device with my computer. In C and C++,there is a function as outportb(address, data) and inportb(address) to access any port e.g., parallel port.whether there any function like that in Java or you can help in interfacing hardware deviced through Java with other techniques using paralled port.i will be very thankfull to you.

  • How to ge a hardware id using java?

how to ge a hardware id using java? like cpu id??

Why do you want the CPU code ?
If you could read this using Java, it would fail most of the time, because a great many people are either not running Intel CPUs, or, like me, have the identification number 'feature' turned off.
You'd get along much better if you view the Virtual Machine as the hardware on which you are running. Thus the concept of a CPU, or the 'Operating System' doesn't exist. Not true, but it would save you a great deal of disappointment, and would make your code much more portable. Can your code run on a machine that interprets Java natively in the CPU, for example?

    Thanks.
This makes our deployement script stop working.  We don't want to use the Webi Rich Client to deploy webi report manually to different servers (like Development, SIT, UAT, Production, etc.).  We use shell scripts calling Java programs  to deploy reports.
Is there any other way to deploy webi reports using Java SDK which can find the universe by name in the same CMS automatically and link to it?

  • Hardware identification using Java-application

    Hi,
please help me! I would like to get some hardware-specific information using a Java-application? Is it possible?
    Thanks everybody,

Probably not, in pure Java. Depends on what the "hardware" is that you had in mind.

  • Accessing device registers and microcontroller registers using java

We are writing an application that needs to work with any kind of microcontroller(more specifically targetted towards 8051 and 80188/86 microcontrollers) in a constrained memory environment with code/data not
more than 128 KB or at the most 256 KB.
We would look at using the JVM in hardware rather than software as an accelerator chip on our boards..
However I wanted to know whether there is a way wherein I can accomplish the above platform independence for microcontroller and still access low level registers for the memory mapped I/O devices using Java..
If anybody knows about this please let me know at
    [email protected]

Not in pure Java, although you can do that in JNI. But if this is the main purpose of your program, you might as well use C++ or some more low-level language.

  • How to use hardware acceleration in Java 2D

    Hi,
I searched in net and could not find anything clear on hardware acceleration using Java 2D/Swing.
To use the hardware acceleration, do I need to specify
    -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true ? Is this must?
Without specifying this, Java 2D calls wont use hardware acceleration?
Kindly clarify. I could not able to find anything in net for this.
I am having ATI Radeon AGP card and using Linux as OS. I have installed the ATI driver. Now I need to know how to interact with hardware using Java2D/Swing.

We like ADF Faces but we need interations with Hardware device in the client side: scan reader, web cam, bar code reader, finger prints reader …
How to do that’s in the adf faces web environment ( what about with sandbox security) how to obtain in the adf faces web page in the client side de video streams.
In the future adf will be use Java FX?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    see sample 71 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/index-101235.html#CodeCornerSamples
You can use ActiveX plugins or JavaApplet to access the client system. To reach out of the sandbox, it will require a certificate
In the future adf will be use Java FX?
    No.

  • Making my game created using Java SE work on mobile devices

I have created a game using Java SE. Can my game be played on a mobile device such as the new g3 iphone?
Do I have to create my game using Java ME in order to be played on mobile devices?
    Thank you,
    jeffphotos7777

A lot of the J2SE library is not available on J2ME and the user interface components will have to be completely changed. Check out the J2ME API and you can see what parts of your code you will be able to keep and what will have to be changed. There is also the consideration of performance, the design of J2ME apps is different from J2SE so you may need to make changes to make sure you don't drain the battery etc.

hardware test using an external optical device (iMac) on macbook pro 9 years old via firewire. What to do? and how to do it?
I thiunk the graphic card is defective and need to run hwt

    You don't.
Need a internal optical drive and the Hardware Test on disks is old and outdated anyway.
Your machine has lasted a long time, congratulations, they usually only last about 4-5 years.
They get clogged up with dust and overheat, kills the video card, there is nothing you can do as it's hardware damage over time.

  • Not able to recognize any video/audio devices using jmf and java soun

    Hi ,
I need one help from your side.
Here I am expecting some clarifications from you. Before that let you my environement.
    My working environment :
Eclipse tool and added jmf jar to my project I did not do any thing more.
If any thing I need to do just let me know. My target platform is MAC & UBUNTU.
    Please bare with my questions.
    1) I am not able to recognize any video/audio devices using jmf and java sound APIs on My system.
( I checked with the app mentioned in the http://www.java-forums.org/new-java/11201-jmf-cannot-connect-device.html )
Do we need any administrives rights for our working PC.
What is the procedure/ setup I need to follow from a java application to enable particular audio/video device since I dont about end-user system setup right.
If possible send some sample code to recognize /r detect audio device ( voice input ). It should run on both MAC and UBUNTU.
    2) I run the one sample audio recording application of this link (http://www.jsresources.org/examples/SimpleAudioRecorder.java.html) which is provided by YOU.
I got output audio file and able to hear voice on UBUNTU system but not able to hear voice on MAC system.
I heared that default line in ( audio setup of the sys) is wont take any voice data on MAC.Why I made this stmt means we are getting false when using isSupported methods of JAVA SOUND API.
( like for TragetdataLine ...i,e, all ports are getting false)
I have one sample audio recording app implemented by QUICKTIME API. In this case also he taking audio ftom device only using quicetime API.
With that we are able to record and hear audio ( voice input --> not line in , external device we added some thing like SSB...)
    3) In case of Video capturing DataSource, Streams are implemented by PullBufferDataSource , PullBufferStream intefaces used.
In case of Audio capturing DataSource, Streams are implemented by PushBufferDataSource, PushBufferStream intefaces used.
Can you explain the reasons ? I gone through API but i am not clear.
HOPE I WILL BE CLARIFIED EVERY THING FROM YOU.

  • Playing sound/beep on the handheld device using WebDynpro for Java (NW7.01)

Does anybody know if we could play sounds or beeps on the handheld device using WebDynpro for Java (NW7.01)? We have a client requirement to have the handheld device beeps/makes different kind of sounds after the goods receipt is posted. We are looking for a way to play the sounds thatu2019s saved on the deviceu2019s directory. Appreciate any suggestions or input.
    Thank you!
    Teeracha

    Hi Terracha,
you can use bellow mentioned methods for playing a sound using javascript :
    function playSound( url ){
      document.getElementById("sound").innerHTML="<embed src='"+url+"' hidden=true autostart=true loop=false>";
    or
    https://github.com/admsev/jquery-play-sound
    $.playSound('http://example.org/sound.mp3');
Hope that helps you as a workaround way.

  • Can we demodulate the signal recieved at DAQ card without using any hardware interface(by only using labview)?

    Hi all,
Can we demodulate the signal recieved at DAQ card without using any hardware interface(by only using labview)? if yes then how? please give brief idea.
    Regards,
    Amit

There is probably a way to do it, but it it may be easier to use an X-series board for the job.   They support a new counter capability for count reset on a digital edge without needing to be configured in encoder position mode.  I am not sure exactly how that feature's been implemented however, so maybe it won't make things easier after all.
The plan based on the hoped-for behavior:
    1. Configure an X-series counter for pulse generation based on "ticks" of your clock channel.
    2. Set both initial delay and low time to the critical # of ticks.
    3. Configure for count reset on a digital edge (if possible in pulse generation mode)
    4. Configure the count reset value to be the critical # (or possibly 1 less, if possible in pulse generation mode)
    5. If you want the output to remain high indefinitely, configure the counter task to use its own output as a
pause trigger, and pause while high.
The way pulse generation works is to preload a # of "low time" ticks into the count register.  Then every source edge will decrement the count.  When the count reaches terminal count (0), the counter's output is toggled (or can be configured to pulse).  The register is then loaded with the # of "high time" ticks and the process continues.
You would be perpetually interrupting the count-down process as long as you got your triggers in time.  The count would keep getting reset to the # of low counts, keep decrementing toward 0 without reaching it, and so on.  If ever you did reach 0, the output state would toggle high, then the high state would prevent subsequent clock signals from decrementing the count.
You can conceivably do a similar thing with a 6601, but I'm pretty sure you'd need 2 counters working together to get it working.

  • Can I use "SerialDemo" or "BlackBox" to read data from hardware device?

    Hi All,
I want read data comm port which is been connected with hardware device(weight reader). Can I use "SerialDemo" or "BlackBox" sample programs provided with javax.comm package?
If yes do I need to do any modification in program as per my hardware device?
    Please help
    Thanks in advance to all
    Basavaraj

You'll need to know what data is being sent from the device, and the example code SHOULD NOT be used.
It is only to show you HOW to do it.
Following the example code, build an application that reads from that port. Read the information from the manufacturer's website to get the details about the format of the data sent.

  • Access to installed device drivers on windows using Java?

Is it possible to get access to installed device drivers on windows using java.

Java has APIs for accessing the OS, The OS has APIs for accessing devices.
Java does not have APIs for direct access to devices.
However, depending on the device, you get what you want most of the time. You would only access the device directly if the device isn't supported by the OS or Java directly.
Which device do you have in mind?
