Interfacing Microchip ICD3 With Labview.

I need to select/browse the hex file from labview and need to dump on PIC IC. Is there any way to acheive this using labview?  What are the different hardware we need for that. I do have a ICD installed in my PC.
What I need is for browsing and dumping the code I should use LV UI.
Kudos are always welcome if you got solution to some extent.
I need my difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy my success.

Simply call the ICD3CMD.exe with /? from cmd for full list of programing options.
edit: As for hardware you would need an ICD3 or PICkit3.
Thanks for the reply. I have ICD3. Do I need to set a path? What is the input to the path input?

can u pls tell me the steps for interfacing a hardware wiht labview........ i mean to say the detailed descrpition....... for ex: interfacing keithley sourcemeter with labview....... pls do give me a detailed steps of interfacing

Start by downloading the LabVIEW driver, which is available in http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=7117
You should also make sure that the VISA driver is installed.  It should have been part of your LabVIEW installation.
Or a shortcut location from the Keithley website is here:

  • Interfacing Vision Builder with Labview version 7.1

i can't export my design in Vision Builder version 7.0 to Labview version 7.1 using the Create Labview VI under the Tools tab as taught in the demo on this website. please advise. thanks.

    Hello,
Most likely, this is due to having a version of Labview that is newer than your Vision Builder / Vision Assistant software. There are updates available for both Vision Builder and Vision Assistant. These updates can be found at:
Vision Assistant 7.0.1 if you previously had Vision Assistant 7.0
Vision Builder for AI 2.0.2 if you previously had Vision Builder AI 2.0
After installing one of the above, everything should work as you saw in the online demonstration.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

I couldn't find an Instrument Driver for the 3932 crate controler. There is a driver for the 3988: http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/9b2b33e1993d877786256436006ec498/045f8392cc4d1b01862568ab005fbb49?OpenDocument
If you look at the driver it isn't too complex. Well ... actaully there are certain differences when using the 3988 GPIB controller that the driver takes care of that relate to correctly passing commands (FAN).
If the 3922 controller is similar then maybe you can use the 3988 driver and modify it to meet your needs. I'm not familar with the 2915 Kinetic system so I'm not sure what would be easier.
If you have a GPIB board, then you could try using the 3988 driver with your 3922 controller and see if you can modify the driver to get things to work.
    I
've only used the 3988 and that was quite three years ago but it might be worth a try.
    Best of luck,

  • How to interface ADAM 4060 in Labview 7.0 ?

I got difficulties in interfacing ADAM 4060 with Labview 7.0. I have tested the device using Advantech ADAM Utility software and it working properly. So, its not hardware error or failure.
However, when I want to interface it using Labview, I couldn't make it work. Labview didnot communicate with ADAM 4060. I've try using User Libraries >Advantech DA&A > Advanve > SlowDIO > DioWritePortDword.vi, DioWritePortWord.vi and also standard srandard library, COMWrite.vi

    Hi chelvis7,
Are you using the same set of VIs from the manufacturer as one-kay? Were you able to communicate with the device using the method discussed in the link posted by David?
If you are using an NI 485 to USB adapter (such as the NI USB-485), what version of the following software are you using (can be found by opening Measurement and Automation Explorer and expanding the Software section on the left):
    LabVIEW
    NI-VISA
    NI-Serial
Finally what is the error message and error code that you are receiving when attempting communication?

  • Which stepper motor is required to connect with labview

title:fault detection in pen. i am doing a project in image processing using labview .i want to  interface stepper motor with labview using daq how can i interface and which type of stepper motor is suitable for rolling metal sheet in which the pen is placed at the top

I would start with the motor and work down, Labview will woek with any.
    1.  Figure out how much motor you need: torque, speed, resolution, size (nema 23, 34 .....)
    2.  Select a drive for your motor: many diferent drivers to control a particular motor, How much current is required, motor voltage, inductance
    3.  Determine the interface to the controller: step and direction, cw/ccw, serial.  (I  like step and direction)
    4.  Determine support options for the motor, encoders, limit switches ...
    5.  Now you can select your ni card to match the interface, (NI Motion- good for copmlex interfaces and multimotor synchronization, Digital/ counter timers simple but limited conmplexity, less expensive but more software needs to be written)
This all depends on budget and requirements.

  • Need to find a driver for cRIO-9211 thermocouple to be used with LabView

I am using the NI cRIO-9211 Thermocouple input and the NI USB-9162 Hi-Speed USB Carrier and need to find a driver to interface the thermocouple with LabView 8.5.1. Could you point me in the right direction as to where I can download a driver for this?

    Hi Durnan,
You will require the DAQmx driver for the USB 9162. This can be found here: ni.com/downloads, see DAQmx 8.8 - would do.
You only require the DAQmx driver, as the C Series modules are supported - they can just be used in a cRIO as well.
    Hope this helps,

  • How would I interface an instrument with a serial UART output to LabVIEW?

I am trying to gather some information on a upcoming project. I have a instrument that outputs a serial UART stream. I would like to interface this with LabView. This is the product that I am planning to interface with. http://www.pressureprofile.com/products-digitacts.php I am just learning how to use LabView so this is all new to me, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First- I would recommend takinga look into the Basic serial read and write example that ships with LabVIEW.  Second, RTFM (Read The Friendly Manual) for the device.  A Google search for serial comms will provide a reasonable backround for how serial comms can be configured.
As to how to implement the specific serial protocol in LabVIEW-- well, use a VISA call to the serial port to configure the various properties of the VISA ser:instr class and IF you learn the equipment's expected settings and what, and when, it responds, the "nuts-and-bolts" of wiring your device driver becomes reasonably simple.

  • Interface with LabView

I am a very new to LabView--
We are developing a board to interface with LabView devices- (ideally, the board would have a GPIB connector).  We would like to use LabView to simulate various conditions on the Interface board by controlling switching (board MOSFETs) and then use a GPIB controlled multimeter to read voltages coming out of the Interface Board).
Since the Interface Board we are working on does not have an "address", is it possible to use LabView to communicate with it (send output signals to the board and read signals from it)?  What is often done to have LabView controlled devices communicate with external circuitry ?
    Thanks,
    Alex

What would be an advantage of an interface controller (such as 4823) over a DAQ card (such as PCI-6013)?  If we only need about 6-8 inputs (Digital I/O) and maybe about 6 Analog outputs, wouldnt the 6013 be sufficient to interface with our PCBA?
In your original post, you indicated that a GPIB interface would be ideal. ICS Electronics makes various models of controllers that provide a GPIB SCPI command interface to digital and or analog I/O. This controller can be placed inside the instrument rather than inside a PC and would use GPIB to connect (as you requested).
I have personal experience with the 4823, which can be used to control/monitor TTL devices on a byte-wise basis. Since you have digital and analog requirements, you could look at the ICS 4807 DAQ board. It may not have enough analog outputs though...
The only reason I originally responded was your GPIB requirement.

    Hi Sachin,
These cameras will be interfaced throught ethernet or USB. Will they be connected to the PC running Win XP or are you looking to interface them with the cRIO.

  • How to creat the interface of auto CAD file with labview

     Hi
I have been controling  2-axis Piezo motor  with labview. Now I have to use the dwg or dxf file  to move the piezo controller axis. How I can  transform the  dwg or dxf  file into  decimal number 1, -1   to create interface with my labview.

    Hi Nusrat,
So it sounds like you want to create a CAD drawing and then control your piezo motor via LabVIEW by moving the CAD drawing?  Is that correct?
If that is correct - I don't know of a way to do this I'm afraid.  I don't think it's really possible.
The only potential way to do this is to use SolidWorks as your CAD program and then convert the SolidWorks drawing into an STL file, which can then be imported into LabVIEW as a 3D picture control.  I can't think of any other way to achieve this.
    These examples might help you:
    LabVIEW Interface VIs for SolidWorks
STL Geometry in 3D Picture Control
    The Pitch Perfect Tuner
Develop Motion Applications with RIO and SolidWorks
    NI SoftMotion for SolidWorks
Connect NI LabVIEW and DS SolidWorks
    I hope that helps.
