Internal mic hears only case touching.

Hi, I have a problem with internal microphone on macbook air mid 2011. It hears loudly any touches on the case of macbook, but the voice is barely audible. And it works fine about a week ago.
Has anyone found a solution to the problem like this?

I have exactly the same problem with my MacBook Air 11.6". The mic was fine about a week ago, now all it picks up are clicking sounds from tapping the case (like keyboard clicks or mouse clicks). It doesn't pick up any sound through the mic at all. The System Prefs settings are pretty useless. I've been able to plug in my iPhone earbuds and use them as a mic input, but that looks pretty dorky on video

  • I have facetime 1.0 and I have  a constant mute mic icon.. set internal mic preference. Makes no difference, I have iMac21  --I can hear the contact and see her.. but I am mute

Can't unslash my microphone mute icon.. can hear and see the contact.. but she can't hear me, because I can't UNMUTE THE microphone.
I went to preferences and clicked internal mic.. made no difference.
Does this have something to do with her version of FACETIME vs. mine?

Well you need to understand the behavior of h-reap or what it's called now, FlexConnect. In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

I bought a mic for my ipod touch 2nd gen and the mic works yet when its plugged in the speakers dont work, meaning i cant hear, so skype and other similar apps are un-useable, is there a way in which the mic and speakers will both work together?

Looking at the details for this mic, it appears that the app has to have the option to use the internal specak when a mic is plugged into the headphone jack. Specifically:
NOTE: When MityMic is plugged into your iPod/iPhone you won’t be able to use the onboard speaker for sound output. You must remove the MityMic then play back your recordings. (The Skype app has an option to enable the onboard speaker even when the mic is plugged in, so you could use MityMic for placing Skype calls. However most other apps do not have this function.)

  • Only internal mic reords even when line in selected

    Hi all
I hope some one cane help with this frustrating problem, I have purchased a 15" MacBook Pro with 2gig HDDR, I have recorded guitar successfully in the past, but recently updated GBand to 3.0.4 (104.7) now when I select an instrument channel, it only records from the internal Mic even when I select, Line In from the System Prefrences, the input registers on the input level meter in the system prefrences pane, but not in the Garageband mixer display, and when I press record GBand only records from interlnal Mic. I have selected all inputs on track info, and have moved slider as far as I can, but still no sound is registered on track, I did notice when I came back to do some more work on one project a panel popped up to say that song had not been saved in iLife? it asked if I wanted to do so so I pressed ok, hope this did not cause problem?
    MacBook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

You have to select line-in in GarageBand's
preferences. (That's a difference between Intel Macs
    and Power PC Macs.)
    Hi Christoph,

  • INTERNAL MIC. RIGHT-SIDE ONLY?

I-Chat without camera or additional equipment, internal microphone audio comes out of the right-side built-in speaker only.
    Checked PREF/SOUND/BALANCE ... center position.
Everything else works, I-TUNES, TIME ANNOUNCEMENT, DVD/CD'S.
Is the Internal Mic. STEREO? Thanks.

Hey thanks for the reply , Ralph!
We have been still getting overr the shock of the DISK UTILITY REPAIRS PERMISSIONS problem of a few weeks ago.
My family and I had not used ichat for a while, and my sister noticed , one, that we did not have to adjust downward the input and output volumes of PREF/SOUND in order not to contend with feedback, as we had done before, when we first had experimented with ichat for the first time, and two, she then brought to my attention, that when we adjusted the "balance" from center to left, no sound at all was heard with ichat. Moving the fader back to center, or all the way to right, was sound but only right side.????
...they didn't have download something again that needs repair, did they?

  • Yosemite Sound Input Only Uses Internal Mic

After updating to Yosemite I cannot record with an internal audio option, like soundflower.  Before Yosemite, it worked fine to change sound input from internal mic to soundflower, but now, no matter what selection is made, it records from the mic.

Try re-installing sound flower. I had an issue where it would keep crashing when I tried to change the output. It worked after I re-installed it again.

  • HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC - Can't get internal mic to shut off or sync with webcam

I'm not really sure what happened. I was trying out my headset with inline mic on my PC and it didn't work the only thing that worked was my internal mic. I did disable my internal mic at one point but turned it back on when I realized that didn't make it work either so I promptly turned my internal mic back on. However, now I am left with hearing myself type and the outside noises even hearing instantly the curses I use at my computer. I can turn the volume down and not hear anything, but when I try and record a video I can't hear myself at all; the mic isn't recordng me and the webcam video is laggy. (the listen back button is unchecked) but when I check the listen back button I can hear me type and I can hear myself on the recorded video.
Basically, I just want my computer to work how it did before I tried to get my headset mic to work.

    Hello eerilyquiet,
I would like for you to use Recovery Manger to restore your software and drivers.  Please let me know if these troubleshooting steps help resolve your issue.
    Good luck!

  • Internal mic

I cannot get the internal mic on my Pavilion dv7 6154ea to work (Windows 7).  Need it for Skype.  Have downloaded some updated drivers, as recommended, but no difference.  **bleep** expensive machine & only 6 months old & I can't use the webcam.  Well done HP  And yes, I did the bios update the other day, froze the machine, had to take the battery out...

It could be hardware. I had a similar problem with my dv7 and it seemed the connection from the internal microphone had come loose - I gathered from various postings that this has hap
HP were pretty good - their technicians were all very helpful and they phoned me back when I was worried about running out of money on  a PAYG mobile phone.  They arranged pick up and return of the system, and a day or two after I got it back they even phoned to check it was now working OK. That was very useful for me, as the microphone was fixed and another unrelated problem I had was improved but still a bit slow, and they ended up diagnosing a motherboard problem
Downside: I lost use of the computer for over a week each time, but they did let me out it off for a couple of weeks until a more convenient time.
NB If you have any other niggles about your system do mention them to HP at the same time, especially if it has to go back for repair. They can help you check what's causing it - you want to get anything that could be serious fixed while it's still in warranty!
In my case I also had an unrelated problem with the DVD drive, which they had improved but it still seemed slow. I mentioned it when they phoned and they took me through some tests which showed up a motherboard problem. If they hadn't phoned back after the first repair I might have just accepted it was slower than I'd like, and not done anything until the motherboard failed, possibly after my warranty ends!

  • Nasty feedback when trying to record using the internal mic

I get nasty feedback when trying to record using the internal mic on my macbook. I'm running Maverick. Why is this happening?

Note: there may be other issues involved, but without further details I can only suggest that using headphones is the best way to accurately hear what you're recording, adjust gain levels, and avoid feedback. So this should be the first thing to try as you troubleshoot.

  • Headset Bluetooth Philips SHB6110  - mic works on Ipod Touch 2G?

I am looking to buy this headset.
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SHB6110/10&slg=en&scy=G B
I wonder if his mic works on iPod Touch 2G.
    Thank you!

    Hello guys!
The headset has arrived now! I did some testing only in the Ipod, as I did not have a Bluetooth interface for my PC:
    - Mic: Does not work in 2G Ipod. The voice recorder does not recognize the microphone. I could not test on Skype yet, but I believe the same thing will happen.
    - Volume buttons (+ and -): Do not work on iPod 2G, the volume control can only be done by the Ipod. PS: the volume is good, but it is not extremely high, you can hear normally, but for those accustomed to listen with high volume can not enjoy.
    - Rewind and Forward buttons (<<and>>): Work to move the tracks, but keep them under pressure, does not advance the time.
    - Charge: It is connected directly into electric current, has no option to load the PC, but I believe that using a standard USB cable that can be done.
The sound quality is great! The distance that can be used is also very good, up to 9 feet!
Although I will test with the PC then just miss the microphone, but this can be turned over if I change my Ipod Touch for a 4G in the future. My only fear is of being robbed! :-)
    I hope I have helped!

  • Internal mic stopped working today, please help! C660 1F1

    Hey guys,
My laptop is a Satellite C660 1F1, and it runs Windows 7, 64bit version.
This afternoon, my internal mic stopped working. It was just fine this morning. Yet I can still hear people on Skype perfectly.
I've checked all my settings, and according to them, everything is just fine. But it isn't. The little green bar that shows received sound doesn't move at all. It only moves a tiny bit when I tap the mic with my finger.
I've reinstalled drivers, I have my settings adjusted for maximum mic usage, but it's just not working.
I don't know what else to do, and this mic is the only way I can contact my family right now. Someone, please help me!

  • T400 Internal mic doesn't work

    brandnew T400, 2 Duo P8700.
The internal mic doesn't work.  I tried to use the sound recorder, and there is no voice.
I clicked      control panel->sound-> recording,   then the screen displays the  interanl Microphone is working.  but when I use the sound recorder, still nothing recorded.
Then I double clicked  the internal microphone -> levels, the drag the bar of microphone and microphone boost all to the very right.  Still the internal microphone doesnt  work.
The speaker is working fine. It is a brandnew laptop.

Good suggestion on removing the driver then clean install the simple driver.
I have been having the same problem with recent new releases of the Conexant Audio Driver for HD on a T500.
Not sure when tech support will get around to fixing the problem. I have tried every combination of Add/Remove, Device Manager Remove, and even Rollback, but the problem persists... The internal microphone gets muted no matter what one does in configuration. You can get playback of audio from CDs and audio files, but the microphone gets disconnected from the system when you install the latest versions.
The following versions will disconnect the internal microphone in T500s:
           v 3.64.10.0
           v 3.64.10.51    (the latest release)
The only stable version appears to be v 3.64.7.0 for T500s.
IBM Lenovo does appear to post previous versions of all Conexant Audio Drivers.
I got lucky, since I keep copies of all previous installs available in order to revert back to a version that is stable.
The suggestion made by this board to install the simple Conexant driver (v 3.53.0.0) is appropriate.
Thanks for the link. I am keeping a copy handy just in case.

  • Iphone real instruments internal mic

I still use GB in my powerbook. I have not uses the sampled instruments yet. But in iphone am enjoying the ability to quickly use the internal mic for real instrument ideas. saves time the way cassette players used to for easy access when inspiration hits...and the abi;lity to add tracks to the idea is great. are there tips to maximize this feature?

Thanks.  I am not sure if I want to pay that much for a 4s.  I was scouring through this forum last night trying to see if there is quick remedy since its waste to see a perfectly good phone go away.  I hear feedback of my voice and the other caller hears static noise, as soon as I change to speaker phone or use the headset everything is fine.

  • Inspiron 1525 not able to select internal mic for webcam, nor is it showing up on Control Panel, Sound, Audio Devices

Initial problem was Dell Webcam video recording records no sound.
In Control Panel, Device Manager, Sound Video and Game Controllers there are two High Definition Audio Devices listed: Location 1 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus) - I deduce this is the internal mic; and Location 2 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus) - I deduce this is external microphone jack. Both have the same driver version.
The Control Panel, Sound, Recordings Tab showed 2 devices that looked identical except the bars that show green with volume were only on the first one, which is also the default one, and would detect sound if you got real close to the webcam mic when talking. Both devices displayed as 'working'.
Accessories, Sound Recorder recordings are silent no matter how close you get to internal webcam mic.
Dell WebCam Audio Source tab has two selections, both reading Microphone (3 - High Definition Audio Device). Both selections record sound with the EXTERNAL MIC jack. There is no way to select the internal webcam mic, it is not an option.
Per instructions found on the web, I uninstalled the first device only in Device Manager and rebooted. The same driver version as before was installed. But now the settings have changed. Device Mgr still shows Loc 1 and Loc 2. However, under the Sound, Recordings tab there are still 2 devices, but the first one says 'currently unavailable' , is still the default, and the sound bars that go green for audio testing are on the SECOND device now instead of the first one. If you check the Properties for each device, they BOTH are showing the same location Location 2 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus), i.e., the external mic jack.  Loc 1 device (built in mic) is not showing up!!
Accessories Sound Recorder works with the EXTERNAL mic. (How does it know which one to use, it's not giving me a choice?)
So the Location 1 device (internal mic) is not showing up anywhere besides the device manager. I want to use the internal mic for skype and webcam. Somehow I need to get the Loc 1 device to show up on the Sound - Recording tab and in the Webcam Audio Source list? What do I do?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    This is Vista.
Go to the Inspiron 1525 support page. Find the small blue "Change OS" and click on the arrow. Select Vista. Then download and install these 3 items with a restart between each one.
    1. Dell System Software in the System Utilities category.
    2. Intel Mobile Chipset in the Chipset category.
    3. Sigmatel audio driver in the Audio category.
See if it works any better after you get the Sigmatel driver installed.
