Internal Table Comparision

Hi,
I have two internal tables both have them large no of records.
For ex: it_large this table has about 150,00-200,00 records on average. It has 3 fields item_id, text and type.
and it_small this tables has about 60,000-80,000 records on average. Just has one field item_id.
I want to find records from it_large which are not contained in it_small.
What is the best way to do so?
I currently use following logic:
loop at it_large assingning <ls_large>.
read table it_small assigning <ls_small> with table key item_id = <ls_large>-item_id.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
* populate missing items internal table
end f.
endloop.

I was thinking about this logic below, but dont know if it is recommended in ABAP. I've used something similar with arrays in Java.
*both tables lt_small and lt_large are sorted with no duplicates.
*lt_small has just one field item_id.
*lt_large has 3 fields item_id, type and text
DATA: lv_len1 TYPE i.
DATA: lv_len2 TYPE i.
DESCRIBE TABLE lt_small LINES lv_len1.
lv_len2 = 1.
WHILE lv_len2 LE lv_len1.
  READ TABLE lt_small ASSIGNING <ls_small> INDEX lv_len2.
  READ TABLE lt_large ASSIGNING <ls_large> WITH KEY barcode = <ls_small>-item_id BINARY SEARCH.
  IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
    DELETE lt_large INDEX sy-tabix.
    DELETE lt_small INDEX lv_len2.
    lv_len1 = lv_len1 - 1.
    lv_len2 = lv_len2 - 1.
  ENDIF.
  lv_len2 = lv_len2 + 1.
ENDWHILE.
I am yet to try this code, I feel advantage is loop is thru lt_small as opposed to lt_large and also loop lenght is dynamic.
At the end of the loop lt_large is what I need.
Please advice me this approach is recommended..

    sort T_PA2002 by pernr.
    sort T_PA9003HRABS by pernr.
    loop at T_PA2002
    read table T_PA9003HRABS with key
    pernr = T_PA2002-pernr
    begda = T_PA2002-begda
    binary search.

    Is there any way that i can restrict the values of a internal table to be passed to a select statement set by set..
    say for eg: if a itab has 1000 entries i want the first 500 to be going out in a select statement as a comparision for all entries and then the next set of 500 to go out..

    You can also append internal tables to index tables using the following statement:
    APPEND LINES OF <itab1> TO <itab2>.
    This statement appends the whole of ITAB1 to ITAB2. ITAB1 can be any type of table, but its line type must be convertible into the line type of ITAB2.
    When you append an index table to another index table, you can specify the lines to be appended as follows:
    APPEND LINES OF <itab1> [FROM <n1>] [TO <n 2>] TO <itab2>.
    <n 1 > and <n 2 > specify the indexes of the first and last lines of ITAB1 that you want to append to ITAB2.
    This method of appending lines of one table to another is about 3 to 4 times faster than appending them line by line in a loop. After the APPEND statement, the system field SY-TABIX contains the index of the last line appended. When you append several lines to a sorted table, you  must respect the unique key (if defined), and not violate the sort order. Otherwise, a runtime error will occur.
    Then u can use <b> FOR ALL ENTRIES</b> in select query.

  • Internal table - select if in range ?

    Hello ABAP Experts,
    I have a internal i_gl_account table which has some of the following fields:
    glacctfrom, glacctto, flag
    i have to select a record from this internal table based on a fixed gl_account_fix.
    i cannot write this statement
    read table i_gl_account with key
               glacctfrom >= gl_account_fix
               glacctto <= gl_account_fix
    since read does not allow the '>' or '<' operators.
    one alternative possible is:
    loop i_gl_account.
      if ( glacctfrom >= gl_account_fix and
           glacctto <= gl_account_fix).
      exit.
      endif.
    endloop.
    This solutions, lookups at each and every record one by one and then does the if comparisions. Incase the i_gl_account is large then this is huge cost and processing.
    wondering if there is any other possible method of achieving the same with lesser processing and cost.
    Any suggetions are appreciated.

    You could also something simular to this sample program.  If know that the start point is in the table.  Here the program is reading the first line where the start value is =,  then it is reading each line after that untill it reaches the end point.  But it is not reading the entire internal table.

  • Duplicate Entries in Internal Tables

    It Would be nice if some one let me know, if there is a way in ABAP to select the duplicates records in an internal tables.
    Lets say I have two internal tabels, itabA have following structure:
    BNAME  |          WORKAREA   |   ROLES
    abc |             wa1 |          ro1
    cde  |            wa1 |          ro1
    cde  |      wa3 |          rol..
    abc  |      wa2 |          rol2
    xyz |       wa1 |          rol3
    xyz  |      wa3  |         rol2..
    the itabB have the following structure:
    WORKAREA |      ROLES|  
    wa1   |         rol1
    wa2  |        rol1
    wa3  |          rol1
    wa4  |          rol1
    Now problem is, I need to select the common WorkAreas from itabA ( which is commom in all BNAME ) in above example it will be workarea wa1. as it is commom in all i.e ( abc ,cde and xyz). I need to select this commom workarea, and then mark it with some flage in itabB ( to display that this workarea is common among the users...)
    Would be nice if some one let me know, is there any way I can select the duplicate rows in an internal table or I have to go one by one and then do some kind of comparision.

    The first criterion for comparing internal tables is the number of lines they contain. The more lines an internal table contains, the larger it is. If two internal tables contain the same number of lines, they are compared line by line, component by component. If components of the table lines are themselves internal tables, they are compared recursively. If you are testing internal tables for anything other than equality, the comparison stops when it reaches the first pair of components that are unequal, and returns the corresponding result.

Then, another line is appended to ITAB and the third logical expressions tests whether JTAB is less than or equal to ITAB. Next, another line is appended to JTAB. Its contents are unequal to the contents of the last line of ITAB. The next logical expressions test whether ITAB is not equal to JTAB. The first table field whose contents are different in ITAB and JTAB is COL1 in the last line of the table: 30 in ITAB and 50 in JTAB. Therefore, in the last logical expression, ITAB is less than JTAB.

    just get the nodes data into internal tables and just compare them......
    node1->get_static_attributes_table(importing table = ITAB_node1)
    node2->get_static_attributes_table(importing table = ITAB_node2)
    now u have the data of ur 2 context nodes in 2 different internal tables ..
    just compare them like
    if  ITAB_node1[ ] = ITAB_node2[ ].
    write: / 'itab1 is equal to itab2'..
    endif.
    and u can use as many as comparision operators between these 2 tables to compare them....

    give a seperate loop for this.
    loop at itab.
    sy-tabix.
    endloop
    get the total no and print it after the table.
    If u r using do loop then give sy-index.

  • Regarding Exporting and Importing internal table

    Hello Experts,
    I have two programs:
    1) Main program: It create batch jobs through open_job,submit and close job.Giving sub program as SUBMIT.
    I am using Export IT to memory id 'MID' to export internal table data to sap memory in the subprogram.
    The data will be processed in the subprogram and exporting data to sap memory.I need this data in the main program(And using import to get the data,but it is not working).
    Importing IT1 from memory id 'MID' to import the table data in the main program after completing the job(SUBMIT SUBPROGRAM AND RETURN).
    Importing is not getting data to internal table.
    Can you please suggest something to solve this issue.

    Hi Kumar,
    use a temporary table to get excel values and then parse them to a second table with the format you want.
    This is pretty basic.

    Maybe you can declare another internal table, with all fields is type C and length as you wanted.
    Loop those three itabs, append to this new itab. then call this FM download.

  • IMPORT Statement Issue (Internal Table)

    Hi All,
    I am using an IMPORT statement to get all the data from other report's internal table. Now whenever this (the other report's internal table) is changed (for field addition, etc), my report throws a dump. Hence, everytime I have to add these fields in my program as well.
    Is there any way by which I can include the whole internal table of that report in my program just like
    'INCLUDE STRUCTURE VBRK'.
