Internet connection reminder

Every 15 min I get an "internet connection reminder" that asks me if I want to stay connected to the Internet. If I don't click "stay connected", after a short time, my connection gets lost. Can't find this in preferences anywhere.

  • Internet Connect Reminder

I recently got a DSL connection which requires PPPoE. The connection works just fine. However, every half hour or so while I am connected I get a box popping up in the middle of my screen which says...
    Internet Connect
This is your reminder that your conection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
This box pops up over everything, which is very irritating when I am working on something or watching a movie. Is there any way, other than logging off the internet, to prevent this from popping up?

In Network>Configure>PPP>PPP Options, there is a box for Prompt every xx minutes to stay conected... uncheck it.

  • Internet Connect: Reminder Settings?

I connect to the Internet via DSL, the one and only broadband service available in my neck of the woods. It seems that about every 10-15 minutes I get a message box popping up, "Internet Connect: This is your reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to stay connected?" The default highlighted choice is "Stay Connected."
Now, I find this is getting more than a little annoying! I do not know if this "service" is regulated by my ISP or by my iMac. If this is a function of Internet Connect, can I reset the frequency of this little "reminder"?

Go to System Preferences > Network.
    At Show, select Built-in Ethernet.
Under the PPPoE tab, select PPPoE Options.
Under Session Options, deselect "Prompt every XX minutes to maintain connection".
Select OK and then Apply Now to save the changes.

  • Remove Internet connection reminder window

    Hello,
Is there a way to remove that window that is always reminding me that my Internet connection is still on? It pops up every 15 minutes and it is getting annoying. But I can't find any option button to stop this. Where is it?
Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Frédéric

Are you using a dial-up connection or ADSL/DSL?
If dial-up: Set your Internal Modem preferences to never disconnect, disconnect after a longer period of inactivity, or to not disconnect if switched to another user:1. Open System Preferences > Network.
    2. Select Internal Modem in the Show pop-up menu.
    3. Select the PPP tab.
    4. Click the PPP Options... button.
    5. A sheet appears containing the various disconnect-related preferences. Make changes accordingly.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Click Apply Now.
    8. Confirm your intent to apply the changes.
If ADSL/DSL: The Disconnect options are a bit buried. This should sort it out:1. Open System Preferences > Network.
    2. Select Built-in Ethernet from the Show pop-up menu.
    3. Select the PPPoE tab.
    4. Click PPPoE Options. A sheet appears.
    5. Change the "Prompt" and the various "Disconnect" options in the sheet, as desired.
    6. Click OK. The sheet closes.
    7. Click Apply Now.
    8. Confirm your intent to apply the changes.Note that some of the information above is from the "Networking" chapter of my book, Troubleshooting Mac® OS X, Tiger Edition.

  • Internet Connection Reminder pop up window?

Hi everybody. I just purchased my first mac and I love everything about it. I'm glad this forum is here. Maybe someone can help resolve my issue? I have a pop up window that appears about every 15 minutes.
    It says: Internet Connect
This is your reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
    Disconnect--Stay connected
If I don't press the stay connected button than it will disconnect.
I'm using DSL with a modem.
Is there any way to get rid of it and keep a constant connection?
    Any help would be appreciated

Hi! The modem normally has settings that can only be accessed through a web browser such as described HERE. One of the settings should say something like "connection type" with a drop down menu with something similar to connect on demand and smart keep alive. If anything other than the smart option is chosen the box below it says "connection timeout" which can be set in minutes. In THIS article you can see the menus. If you go into the modem either write down all the settings as you see them for reference or be sure than you don't change anything BUT having to do with the smart connection. Tom

  • How do I get rid of Internet Connection reminder, please?

Every 30 minutes I am asked if I want to stay connected to the Internet.
    Yes - I do, otherwise I'd disconnect.
How do I get rid of this please?
I'm using Safari and I've searched vigorously through every preference I can find.
This is particularly annoying when I've started a download as I think the thing disconnects after two minutes of an unanswered prompt.
Sorry if this has been dealt with elsewhere (I have looked).

Try the instructions in this FAQ if they are applicable to your configuration and you haven't already done so.

  • BROADBAND OVER PPoe Internet connect keeps asking me a reminder

I recently got a broadband connection that runs through the ethernet via PPPoe, Actually, as I'm writing this it's after popping up again... It states:
Internet Connect, This is your reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
Athough this is a good feature there seems to be no option to knock it off, and this is very irritating since my broadband connection is always on
Is there any way to stop this from happening?
    Thanks for everything

    Hi,
I can find that there is a
same thread that you posted in the forum. I had replied it. Please check if can help you. Just remind that please reboot when uncheck IPv6 option and monitor the result. Meanwhile, please check if can find some relevant issue when you run
    SBS 2008 BPA.
In addition, please refer to the following thread and skip the DHCP check, then run the wizard. Please check
if this wizard can be ran completely. If run successfully, then enable the DHCP
    again.
    SBS
2011 is detecting DHCP on my network after I disable it and i cant continue setup
    Hope this helps.

  • Mail (response is disappeared b/c of missing internet-connection

    Hi guys!
While I was writing responding to an email, i didn't realize that my internet connection was disrupted. After pushing the "send" button, it reminded me of the lost internet connection. Then I fixed this problem in a few seconds and the connection was rebuild. But what happened was, that my long email I wrote was totally disappeared! I cannot find it and it hasn't been send!
Is this a known problem with Mail in Lion?

i had the same problem at my grandparents house but when i went home it works it is just because of bad connection. I suggest you got some where else and download it. take your laptop to starbucks they have free internet connection.

  • Cannot activate CS5.5 - internet connection error with Adobe servers + customer service non-existent

Just purchased CS5.5 and it works fine however I am not able to activate it. The program says I don't have an internet connection but I clearly do I as I am able to connect to all websites & email etc...
I have tried to contact customer support 6 times:
Contact 1: on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes after which I was disconnected
Contact 2: on hold for 35 minutes then told it was out of business hours
Contact 3: on hold for 45 minutes then someone picked up the phone and then hung up on me
Contact 4: on hold for 15 minutes then someone hung up on me
Contact 5: on hold for 5 minutes then someone spoke with me and told me to delete a "host" file in Windows32 folder on our system. This didn't fix the problem and then the support person simply hung up on me...
Contact 6: currently on hold for 55 minutes and still waiting...
What is happening at ADOBE? You used to be so reliable now I am not even able to get through to support? It is very worrying... I have no options available any more... what do I do?
PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I AM NOW PLEADING FOR SUPPORT!
    Richard

    Greetings everyone,
I started this thread. Since the thread was posted, my activation issue has dissappeared - HOW I do NOT know. As a last desparate attempt, I uninstalled Norton 360 completely and this might have helped, however I am not sure. Doing the "ping" of activate.adobe.com still doesn't work even with Norton 360 uninstalled and all firewalls switched off. It is very strange that I am not able to ping activate.adobe.com and get a 404 error on https://activate.adobe.com/test but my issue is resolved... strange this seems still to be unresolved.
In fact, I tested that URL and the Ping from over 8 different internet locations within Sydney (friends homes, offices, internet cafe etc) and NONE were successful. How does THAT make it a USER problem when NO ONE can access it???
An Adobe rep contacted me directly by email and supported me directly, which was fantastic, but didn't actually help as all the support he provided was exactly the same as what I had done with other support by phone at least 5 times with no success.
I organised a very skilled computer tech to assist me with my issue and he did everything he could to try and open ports and gain access for the activation but after 6 hours of trying his conclusion was "Adobe is having the issues, not the users".
This seems to be a big problem with Adobe at the moment and should not be.
    To Adobe:
I remind and highlight your responsibilities as a service/product provider, under the ACCC law:
    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/961908
    As a customer:
"If a service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy—either fixing the problem with the services, a refund or compensation for any drop in value from the original price paid—depending on the circumstances."
Amongst other information within that page, I bring your attention to the fact that this issue your users are experiencing would be considered a "Major failure":
There is a major failure when (as the customer):
"you would not have engaged the service if you had known the nature and extent of the problem."
"the service does not meet the reasonable expectations for that type of service, and the problem cannot be rectified within a reasonable time."
and lastly, who is to fix the problem:
"The guarantees are made by the person or business that is providing the service. This means the service provider is responsible for fixing a problem when the service does not meet a consumer guarantee."
The runarounds Adobe is creating for customer, and hours of "on-hold" resulting in little or no customer service, is simply unacceptable and, in fact, a breach of your responsibilities and the law. Adobe... you seem to forget that our businesses or services rely heavily on your software to learn, teach, conduct business or whatever it may be. Our time is precious and the hours wasted to fix issues that shouldn't be there in the first place cost us a non-trivial amount.
Although my issues have been resolved, I am still nervous as it may happen again - I have received no indication of any rectifications of the issue and it appears it is still a major failure with other customers, meaning it could happen to me again at any time.
I would, and so would the rest of the people with these issues, like to know what your steps are, at a higher management level, to fix it and make sure it does not happen any more.
I highly recommend that you escalate these issues as a matter of priority and get your best people onto it urgently.
In the hope of a positive outcome,
    Richard

  • How do I maintain license on systems with no internet connection?

I will be installing CS6 on PCs with initial internet connection, but they will be moved into a space without any internet.
How do I keep the CS6 working without the connection?
Is there a license file I can download then apply to the systems without the connectivity?

    Hello Scott,
Adobe has prepared this informations: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html
    >>> Additional information for users who are temporarily unable to connect >>> ...I quote:
What happens if it's necessary to be offline for a while?
The Creative Cloud software makes a call to Adobe servers once a day to verify the account status.
If the account is in good standing (that is, payment is up-to-date) when the last call happens, the software status is refreshed to run for at least 99 days while being offline.
Note: Signing out and signing back in (while online) just before going offline for a long period ensures that the software works for at least 99 days without needing to connect.
The software still reminds you to connect to the Internet during this time. These reminders can be suppressed until the last 30 days, when a daily message prompts you to go online and refresh the software status.

  • HT5945 Why does Instal Java SE 6 keep popping up and when I attempt to install it says that there is a problem with the internet connection ???  Please help

I keep getting a pop up reminder to install Java SE 6.  When I attempt to install it an error occurs saying that there is a internet connection problem and the Java cannot be intalled.  This thing pops up every 15 minutes.  Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks for any help

OK, so you don't have a working iTunes.
What I would like to do now is to try installing each iTunes component separately.
First uninstall the 5 iTunes programs that you have installed.
You should have iTunesSetup.exe saved in a folder on your PC, probably in the downloads folder. If not download and save it now.
Open the folder containing iTunessetup.exe with explorer.
Next open notepad and copy the following 3 lines into it.
    md temp
    itunessetup /extract temp
    pause
Save the file as extract.bat into the same folder that contains the itunes installer.
Open the downloads folder and you should find the extract file that you saved. Double click on it and a black window will open telling you what it is doing. When its finished, press any key to continue.
You should find that a folder called temp has been created containing all the itunes msi files.
Install in this order by double clicking on them:
    Apple Application Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Software Update
    Quicktime
    iTunes
If one of the installs fails, stop and post the error message in full. I am hoping that by doing this separately we will get a better error message.

  • Itunes would not sync with yahoo contacts - says no internet connection

Well, i guess i do have internet as i am writing this...After trying for long long time to sync with outlook with no luck at all, i wanted to try to sync iphone with yahoo address book. But every time i get the same message "yahoo could not connect-blah-blah-blah internet connection is not available"
Does anyone know how to fix that problem??? I've spent two days trying to make my dad's iphone to work...

OK; this is pretty flippin' funny. I hope an Apple geek stumbles over this and can carry the multiple levels of irony back to the hive.
I found this thread while searching for solutions to the same problem on my iPod touch. The strong sense of "duh, I am connected to the 'net" really. Goes double for you 'Phone guys.
You guys can't even leave the store without being connected to the 'net; right?
So the first bit of irony is that the sweet and helpful Apple (1) hasn't made the configuration requirement clear and, even more, (2) why it's an issue at all. These are computers; so they could just program it to insert the (painfully) missing "@yahoo.com" automatically. (Can I get a "hellooo?")
But the second bit of irony is that the "sync with Yahoo" procedure is tied exclusively to iTunes. (Need another, "hellooo?" here.) Too bad iPhones aren't autonomously connected to the 'net 24x7. Oh, wait....
I guess this is where Apple gets a reminder that they make the koolade in those commercials -- but they're not supposed to drink it too!
