Internet explorer java switcher

All
Is there a quick way to write a java switching tool, which would allow me to run both jre 1.4 and jre 1.5 on my desktop. The reason is that some of my applications support 1.4 and some support 1.5, i have been playing with the java control panel and that does allow you to switch between 1.5 and 1.4 but i would like to write a program that would edit the registry and then change the settings quickly,,, is there any documentation on what settings need to be changed in order to make internet explorer change version ?

  • Internet Explorer Java app problem when ESSO client runs on machine

    Hi,
    I face following situation:
User is working with web application. It is a kind of interface for Document Management System. This application logon is not managed by Oracle Enterprise SSO client (or agent).
When an Oracle ESSO services run on user's computer, user cannot open PDF files from DMS Internet Explorer page with error: UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD APPLET DUE TO SECURITY ISSUE.
When an Oracle ESSO services do not run on user's computer, user can always open PDF files from DMS Internet Explorer page with no errors.
I checked the Internet Explorer security settings and there I can see no limitations on Java, scripts or ActiveX.
    My question is:
how Oracle ESSO client/agent affects other Java-based applications or applets?
is there any possible reason while Oracle ESSO client is installed to user computer with package including "Java helper" item?
is there any known and described issue within?
Thank you very much for any answer.

Addition: Described behaviour was under IE8 and IE9. Firefox 22.0 and IE10 works correctly. Java version is 6.21. Operation system is Windows 7 x64.

Say your stub is in a jar called stub.jar.
You need to put that stub somewhere that it can be reached through a protocol for which Java has a URL type - so you can put it on a shared file system and use a file URL or behind an http server and use an http URL.
Let's use http - put stub.jar at the docroot of a web server.
Then, when you start your SERVER code, include this VM parameter:
    -Djava.rmi.server.codebase="http://<serveraddress>stub.jar"
Now your client will be able to use http to load the stub file out of stub.jar through http.
If you do use a file URL, make sure the shared directory you put your jar in is not on the client's classpath.

  • Internet Explorer 11 setup cannot recognize it's own /update-no switch?

Building a package with the Internet Explorer 11 Administration Kit (Internal Distribution) spits out
IE11-Setup-Full.exe (which seems to be an IExpress setup) and
IE11-Setup-Full.msi. IE11-Setup-Full.exe does not recognize the
/update-no switch. Is there any way either of these can be silently deployed
    without checking for updates?

I've seen the command line reference.
    If I pass /? to IE11-Setup-Full.exe (described as a Win32 Cabinet Self-Extractor), an
Internet Explorer 11 Setup dialog appears that displays this information:
       Command line options:
/Q -- Quiet modes for package,
       /T:<full path> -- Specifies temporary working folder,
/C -- Extract files only to the folder when used also with /T.
/C:<Cmd> -- Override Install Command defined by author.
    Extracting IE11-Setup-Full.exe creates these files:
       BRANDING.CAB
       ieadvpack.dll
       ieakcust.dll
       iedkcs32.dll
       IE-REDIST.EXE
       iesetup.cif
       IE-Setup.cmd
       iesetup.ini
       INSTALL.INS
If I pass /? to IE-REDIST.EXE, the Microsoft HTML Application Host produces an
Internet Explorer 11 Setup Command Line Switches window that displays the command line switches and their descriptions for Setup Modes (/quiet) and Help, Setup (/update-no), Restart (/norestart) and Miscellaneous Options.
Yes, I could use the extracted files from the customized Internet Explorer 11 package, but according to Microsoft Knowledge Base article 197147, IExpress packages support (as evidenced by the supported switches reported by IE11-Setup-Full.exe) switch
/c:path (specifies the UNC path and name of the Setup .inf or .exe file). In this article it is noted that you "can use the /c:path switch to pass parameters (switches) to the Setup program or specify a different Setup program for the package."
    This example is given:
       Ie6setup <IExpress switches> /c:" ie6wzd <Internet Explorer Setup switches>"
    I've tried this:
       <ParentFolderPath>IE11-Setup-Full.exe /q:a /c:"IE-REDIST.EXE /closeprograms /quiet /update-no"
But that doesn't work either. I'll probably try using the extracted custom package source later today so that I can access that
    /update-no switch.

Internet Explorer,  Firefox , Opera and Google Chrome are Browsers. Yahoo and Google, unless you are referring to Google Chrome are not browsers. The browser is what you need to change. there are three images below of three different browsers. You are probably using Internet Explorer. Switch to another browser for a test print.
    Google Chrome
    Firefox
    Opera
Do you understand the term browser as an interface? It is a graphical user interface through which you connect to MSN and Yahoo to browse the internet.

  • More configurable kiosk mode of Internet Explorer needed

    Hello
Kiosk mode of Internet Explorer 11 (switch -k) is unconfigurable
Is it possible to implement following features/switches in IE regarding kiosk mode: -kioskresettime (returning to the home page after declared time of inactivity)
-kioskhomebutton (Home button visible while in kiosk mode)
-kiosknavbuttons (Back and Forward navigation buttons visible while in kiosk mode)
-kioskaddressbar (addressbar visible in kiosk model)
-contextmenuoff (disables contextmenu available from right-mouse-click)?
I need to have on the kiosk PC with Windows 7 64bit with touchable screen without keyboard and onscreen keyboard.
    Can anybody help me?
    Best regards

You may need to develop an application on your kiosk PC, the application could detect keyboard , touch event on the PC and navigate to home page after some time of inactivity.
If you want to request a feature on IE, you could submit a feedbact to IE connect.

  • Switching VM in Internet Explorer

There are articles how to switch between Sun Java and Microsoft VM Java in MS Internet Explorer 6. Unfortunately the descriptions fail to say, that you need administrator rights.
Or at least in the case of Windows XP Professional wSp2 client in the Windows 2003 Active Directory environment it is the case.
Any idea, how to switch between SUN and MS VM with domain user rights?

  • Internet explorer allows me to open certain information/tabs which are somehow connected to java script but Firefox won't. This just started happening a few days agoyet my javca script is enabled. what is the problem/fix. I'm a novice with computers

I am not sophisticated at understanding computer language. What I know is that 3 things have happened in the last 2 weeks.
1.My yahoo account which I go to from Mozilla firefox 4.0.1 now requires me to click on a link that says it disables updates. Then my homepage seems to be ok/normal except:
2.One of the email links tries to open a site called Ok Cupid and that site is really distorted and unreadable
    3. another website www.texastrails.org has a tab called 'docs' which can be reached from "member portal". There should be documents in Word and adobe reader on the left side of the screen which can be opened normally. These do not exist now and the texas trails webmaster says it has to do with Java Script. (it does open in Internet Explorer)
Why would these two sites open in IE but not firefox?
Note that I went to "My Computer" and found I have environment 5.0 Java6 update 24 and J2SE Runtime environment 5.0update 6 on different lines. I have no clue what these mean:-)
I also click on Firefox "tools" and see that java is checked/enabled.

This is not an answer. I have the same problem, what gives? None of the "solutions" have worked. The only thing left I haven't tried is resetting my IP an disabling my routers firewall, which is dangerous. Guess I might just keep on using IE instead, sure it's annoying, but hey it works.

  • Java and Internet Explorer automation

    Hi,
I would like to create a routine in java that would simulate a user browing the web.
Ex: A user vistiting a certain page, clicking on a few links etc...
Is their a java library that can server as a bridge beetween java and internet explorer in order to automate this process.
    Thank you.

You want to see it all happening on the screen? If so, you could maybe look into IECanvas or some other Java/COM bridge that would let you embed IE in the Java app. I'm not sure what kind of API is available such that would allow for that.
Another idea is java.awt.Robot which would let you move the mouse and enter text and click on things on any application, but the problem here is that you'd need to know exact coordinates to click on. You could use it to grab screen shots if you can deal with the image manipulation to figure out what is where.

Can you force focus from a Flash app to another plugin such as Unity3d using a JS command similar to e.focus() which works in Internet explorer. The following code works in IE, but not FireFox? Any solution would be helpful. Is it even possible?
    function hideSWF(){

    e.style.height = gameHeight + 'px';

No, I am saying that this isn't the forum for help with that. This forum is for Firefox user support, and the helpers in this forum aren't versed in development issues like that - we're volunteers, not Mozilla developers and don't work for Mozilla. You are better off asking about that in a forum where other web site developers do support.

  • Java not working in Internet Explorer

I normally use another browser (Google Chrome) but need to use Internet Explorer for a particular online banking service. This service requires a Java applet.
I have the current Java environment (as at 21.3.12), SE 6 Update 31.
Java works in Chrome but does not work in IE8 or IE9.
I have un-installed and re-installed Java several times, tried going back to IE8, turned off ActiveX filtering, confirmed Java scripting is on, checked add-ins are managed correctly and so on and so on, without success. Given Java works it is not a Java
issue but must be an IE issue.
Are there any additional steps or diagnostics I can run to try to identify the problem as I need this to be resolved for the purposes of running my business.
    Many thanks!

    Hi guys.
I'm having an issue like this and none of the solutions above helped me.
I'm trying to open a specific web page that is not working with Java only on Internet Explorer (7, 8 nor 9). If I try to open in Google Chrome or Firefox it goes fine.
I've tried various versions of Java and all my tries were done both on Windows XP Professional and Windows 7 Professional.
The weird thing is that when I test it through Java webpage or some other page, it goes fine. It is not working only for this specific webpage.
    This is the webpage:
    http://iweb03ds.magnaclosures.com/stconf.nsf/meeting/mid3FC5EBB1D59C830685257A2900420436
It is a meeting webpage for our company to present their work to our clients and suppliers. I've also followed their own step-by-step advises, but no good either.
Could anyone help me on that?

  • How to stop the information bar cmoing in the Internet Explorer with java

    hai all,
iam new to this forum and posting a question on java application where i had a problem.
I work in a software company. we have developed an application and it is in production and we had a small problem. we have deifferent kinds of reports te users can get dynamicalty based on theirn requet parameters. so when we are deployingthe application on server and accessing it from the client machine(bothe the server and client are diferent i mean different machines) they get an information bar that
"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options". and for this we have given them the solutions for setting the security features for the
Internet Explorer . but they want it to be done thru program such that they dont want to see that message. i need a small help for this.
It would be very help ful for me in my carreer if i get a solution for this.

I'm not 100% sure, but doesn't all applets have the same popup bar? I guess you can tell your customers to turn off their popup blocker beforehand. (This is what my uni does with WebCT Vista)

  • Java applet not showing up in Internet Explorer 8

    Hi,
I have an applet tag in a JSP, and it is not working in Internet Explorer 7 and 8.
Yes, I have read that the applet tag was deprecated - the problem is that it is working for my colleague, also in IE8.
Java is enabled on my machine/IE options.
Could anyone please suggest what the issue might be?
    Thanks.

I haven't tried resizing the applet yet. Since you all mentioned it I am going to play with that later today.
To elaborate on the fix, yes - updating to Java 6 - 16 will allow IE 8 to display applets.
Just in case anyone else runs into this issue as well:
I am running Vista on a 64 bit.
It has two directories named Program Files:
One named just "Program Files" - evidently for the 64 bit stuff.
Another named something like "Program Files (x86)".
Apparently it will look into "Program Files" - the 64 bit one by default.
I haven't found a 64 bit version of Java 6 - 16 to install - the only 64 bit one is some version of 1.5, unless I am missing something, so the Java 6 - 16 installed into the Program Files(x86), and 1.5 into Program Files. Windows pointed JAVA_HOME to 1.5 because it looks into the Program Files by default.
The result was that when I went to the Java site it analyzed my Java version and told me I have the most up to date version. But -
java -version on the console returned 1.5. Confusing at first, but on such systems, apparently the JAVA_HOME has to be explicitly repointed to the (x86) Program File directory.

  • I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox and was so happy. Then I took the prompt and converted to Firefox 4.0 and now my computer is so slow it is almost unbearable. How do I switch back to Firefox 3 or some earlier version to get my speed back?

It takes a long time for the computer to warm up and start working, maybe 30 seconds. Just to open an email can take 10 seconds. This is the kind of delay I was experiencing on Internet Explorer before I switched to Firefox 3. It is particularly slow if I am opening a photo attachment. It also can be slow just moving from one tab to another. Help!

    Credit Tony E:
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use
    your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of
installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
