Invalid column name for Transparent Gateway for SQLServer

I have successfully set up a transparent gateway for an MS SQLServer database 'pubs' from Oracle 910. I am able to run the following statement successfully as it returns all results without a hitch:
select * from authors@pubs;
pubs is the database link for the transparent gateway.
But when I select any particular column in the select statement like:
select city from authors@pubs;
I get the following error:
select city from authors@pubs
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00904: invalid column name
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Samarjit,
This should work. Are you using a certified configuration?

    Hi,
    Even I am getting the same error when trying to see the table structure in sybase from SSMA tool.
    Sybase Server Object Collector error: table : EFTArchive_bk2
         Invalid column name 'fill_factor'.

    I am not sure how to fix this.
    This answer doesn't help me. "In SQL Server 2005 the fill_factor is spelled as FILLFACTOR." As I am
    getting this error sybase database itself.
    I am using SSMA to migrate data from sybase to sql. when I select the tables in sybase, I am getting
    above error. (Invalid column name "fill_factor")
    Could some please help me how to fix this error?

  • Oracle Transparent Gateway for MS SQL Server

    Hello,
    I successfully installed the Oracle transparent Gateway for MS SQL Server for Oracle 8i. Now I am doing the same for Oracle 9i.
    Does anyone know how to 'create a new gateway service' on 9i???
    This is how you would do that on 8i on the Windows box...
    1) At the MS-DOS prompt, enter:
    > set GTW_EXE=TG4MSQL.EXE
    2) To create a new gateway service name, enter:
    > GTWSRV73 sid -CREATE | MORE
    -where sid is the gateway sid.
    Does anyone know how to do those steps for 9i Oracle Transparent Gateway?
    Thank you.

    Hi
    I need oracle Tranparent Gateway for Microsoft Sqlserver (tg4msql) for oracle 10g on linux x86-64 bit. I have searched for it on otn.oracle.com and on edelivery.oracle.com. But couldn't find it.
    Can any one help me in this regard.

  • [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid column name 'Sweepstakes'.

    Okay, I'm by no means a cold fusion expert. But I have been teaching  myself over the last year since our website was built off of Cold  Fusion. So I need help because I am trying to build a site where people  can enter in their e-mail address, and name (first and last) for a  sweepstakes that we have on our catalog.
    I have create a table called "Sweepstakes" so on my MS SQL 2005 Web Box  there is a table under the database called "dbo.sweepstakes". I have  replicated basically everything that a original database that was  already created to capture user's email address for catalog request and  what have you. The original database to capture user's request catalogs  from us is called "dbo.InfoRequest" (just a FYI) and this was the  database I basically replicated in a way.
    So after saying all this, I continue to receive this error message and I  can not figure out why. So here is the error message that I am getting.
    This is the error when trying to load the database from the "webview"  basically. We have an Admin Console to the website and in their, there  is a section to list the contents of a specific database. So if you  requested a catalog, you put in your name, email address, etc on to the  website and when you hit submit on the website it insert it into the  database called "dbo.InfoRequest". So when the Spring comes and I want  to get a list of people that have request a catalog, I go to our  website's admin console and inside there, there is a "List Catalog  Request". When you click on it, it loads a file called  "ListCatalogRequest.cfm" and it displays the "dbo.InfoRequest" database  on the screen in a table format basically. So I am trying to replicate  that for this sweepstakes we are having on our website / catalog but  without using the "dbo.InfoRequest" database. Since we are doing a  drawing, I'd rather it be in it's own database for viewing a drawing. So  I have copied the "ListCatalogRequest.cfm" file and renamed it to  "ListSweepstakesEntrys.cfm" and changed a couple of things in the file  to point to the "dbo.Sweepstakes" that I created this morning and here  are the results when you bring up the "ListSweepstakesEntrys.cfm" file.
    If you need the results and / or code from either  "ListSweepstakesEntrys.cfm" or "IISAdminSecurity.cfm" please let me  know.
    THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE!

    OK, this is more a SQL question than a CF question, but not to worry.
    You say this:
    I have create a table called "Sweepstakes"
    My emphasis.
    But your query is this:
    SELECT [Sweepstakes] AS TableAccessLevel, MinimumSecurity,  IDNumber FROM AdminUsers WHERE Username = 'username' AND Password =  'password' AND Active = 'Y' AND UserType = 'A'
    The question I pose to you is: does a SELECT statement in SQL take the name of a table?
    Hint: no.
    Best you revise your SQL docs, I think.
    Adam
    PS: it's "ColdFusion", not "Cold Fusion".  Not that it really matters :-)

  • Oracle 9i on LINUX Transparent Gateway for SQL Server

    Does anybody know if there is a Transparent Gateway available for Oracle 9i on LINUX to connect to SQL Server? I have run the installer and cannot seem to find the install options for any Transparent Gateways. I am familiar with their location in the universal installer as I have installed the Oracle/SQL Server Transparent Gateway with Oracle in WinNT. Perhaps Transparent Gateways for Oracle/LINUX are not available?
    Thanks in advance.

    I have the same issue - we want to upgrade our 9.2 to 10g Linux, and need to maintain connectivity to some legacy sqlserver databases. I can't find any mention of tg4msql for linux. What gives? Anyone know the answer to this? thanks, michael

  • Free download of transparent gateway for SQL Server

    Can anyone give me the URL where I can download the transparent gateway for SQL Server.. I searched OTN but couldn't find it. I just want to try it out..
    Thanks.

    The indicated URL also shows the zip for the 10gR2 gateways for Windows software: 10201_gateways_win32.zip
    To use a gateway you also have to use an Oracle database as a so-called integrating kernel. In this Oracle database you define the database link to the gateway to be able to connect to SQL Server.
    But TG4MSQL 10gR2 has been desupported, which means that bugfixing has been stopped. Also just to make clear, allthough the software can be freely downloaded the product itself requires a license when you decide to use it after testing it.
    And I recommend to try the DG4MSQL 11gR1 software instead, it can also be found at Oracle Technet:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111070_win32_2008soft.html
    When using a 11gR1 database gateway the Oracle database you use with the gateway must be 10.2.0.4.0 or higher. Or have a closer look at Metalink document: 457808.1 - Database Patch 5965763 Required For Pre-11g Databases Using 11g Database Gateways
    Look for: win32_11gR1_gateways.zip

  • Invalid column name 'SKEY_VAL' Error when Populating a planning dimension

    I'm trying to populate a planning dimension from a view in MSSQL. I thought that I had mapped the all of the required columns in my interface in ODI, but I am getting the following error:
    207 : S0001 : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Invalid column name 'SKEY_VAL'.
    I can see in Operator that ODI is generating the following SQL
    select
         LEFT(DIM_ACCOUNT.FLEX_VALUE,80)     as C1_ACCOUNT,
         DIM_ACCOUNT.PARENT_FLEX_VALUE     as C2_PARENT,
         LEFT(DIM_ACCOUNT.DESCRIPTION,80)     as C3_DESCRIPTION,
         LEFT(DIM_ACCOUNT.DESCRIPTION,80)     as C4_ALIAS__DEFAULT,
         SKEY_VAL
    from     DOT_STAGE.dbo.DIM_ACCOUNT_T_V as DIM_ACCOUNT
    where     (1=1)
    But I don't know why it is asking for the SKEY_VAL column or how I can map a value into this column when setting up the interface?
    I've read through the user guide and the getting started guide and I can't find any reference to this SKEY_VAL column.
    Does anyone know what causes this error and how I can fix it?

    1) No SKEY_VAL is not a variable.
    2) This is my first attempt at using ODI, I did not create the SQL. All I did was to create a reverse a model against my MSSQL staging database and create and reverse a model against the planning application. Then I created an interface for the Account dimension in planning mapped the account, parent and description columns from my SQL table to the Planning dimension and I get this error. There are no columns called SKEY_VAL in either the source or the target and I have not created any objects with this name in ODI. I can see that ODI is asking for this column when I execute the interface, but I don't know why.

  • Invalid column name 'xml_index_type'

    Hi,
    I'm not sure when this started happening but today, none of us using SSMS 2012 connected to SQL server 2012 SP1 were able to script any objects.  we are presented with the message
    Failed to retrieve data for this request. (microsoft.sqlserver.management.sdk.sfc)
    Invalide column name 'xml_index_type'.
    see screenshot.
    wondering if any ran into this before and have a fix?
    Thanks

    @ Balmukund,
    all I'm doing is connecting to my 2012 sp1 instance on via my local SSMS, expand a database, and expand the table hive, right click on a table, and tell it to script the table to
    a new query window, clipboard, etc ... all give off that same error message.
    @wbob
    My SSMS client is a 2012 SP1 as I have a local dev instance on my box.  I use only the 2012 client to manage both sql server 2008 r2 and 2012:
    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 11.0.3128.0
    Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools 11.0.3128.0
    Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 6.1.7601.17514
    Microsoft MSXML 3.0 6.0
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.10.9200.16576
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.30319.296
    Operating System 6.1.7601
    On the server:
    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 11.0.3000.0
    Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools 11.0.3000.0
    Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 6.1.7601.17514
    Microsoft MSXML 3.0 6.0
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.30319.296
    Operating System 6.1.7601
    I just looked thru the sql log again for the upgrade and see no errors.  I would post it here but it is a long and boring read.
    In addition, in tools --> options --> SQL server object explorer --> scripting.  This is set to SQL server 2012 for 'script for server version'

    We have changed default thin driver to 920 from 817 in 610sp4. If you are using 817/901 dbserver, please put 817/901 classes12.zip in your
    classpath before weblogic.jar and you will be ok.

    We have been using WLS 6.1 sp2 with toplink and never had any problems. Recently
    we migrated to sp4 and get a invalid column name exception while updating records.
    For select queries there is no error. The SQL generated by toplink is -
    UPDATE PR_SUPP SET CNTC_PRSN_NAME = ''
    , REMK = 'Remark 123', LAST_CHNG_DTTM = {ts '2002-11-29 10:59:56.0'} WHERE ((S
    UPP_CODE = 'A0001') AND (LAST_CHNG_DTTM = {ts '2002-11-29 10:46:01.0'}))
    It looks like some problem with the JDBC driver. The databse is Oracle 8.17. How
    to fix it
    The exception stack trace is -

  • Invalid column name in query string - using Format function

    In my post just before this one the problem was solved for writing a query string using a date range. The rest of the query string includes the same date field (Call_Date) but formatted as 'MMM-YY'. I get an invalid column name error when I add this field to the query string. Here is the rest of the query string:
    strSql = "SELECT Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy'), " _
    & "HOME_REGION FROM CCC2.CASE_EPRP " _
    & "WHERE (HOME_REGION = 'NCR') AND " _
    "(CALL_DATE >= to_date( '1/1/2002', 'MM/DD/YYYY' )" _
    & "AND CALL_DATE <= to_date( '2/28/2003', 'MM/DD/YYYY' ))"
    In the Access Query tool I can include this field
    Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy')
    and the query runs fine (I just need to make it dynamic using ADO). But in my ADO query string above, I get the invalid column name error. Is there a way I can include
    Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy')
    in my ADO query string? I appologize for not being more familiar with Oracle Sql. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again,
    Rich

    Thank you very much for your reply. I think I'm getting closer to the solution. Just I got an error message
    "date format not recognized"
    when I add "to_char( call_date, 'mmm-yy' )" to the query string. I tried using all uppercase, but that did not make a difference. Do I need to use to_date inside the to_char maybe?
    to_char(to_date(call_date, 'mmm/yy'), 'mmm-yy')
    Thanks again for your help.

  • SSMS 2012: Using CTE in a query - Invalid column name 'EmployeeID' !!??

    Hi all,
    From Page 88 of the Book "SQL Programming & Database Design Using Microsoft SQL Server 2012" written by Kalman Toth, I copied the following code of Using CTE in a query:
    -- CTETest2.sql /// saved in C:\My Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\
    ----Page 88 of Book by Toth === Using CTE in a query ----- 13 March 2015
    --Using CTE in a query
    ;WITH CTE (SalesPersonID, NumberOfOrders, MostRecentOrderDate)
    AS (SELECT SalesPersonID, COUNT(*), CONVERT(date, MAX(OrderDate))
    FROM Sales.SalesOrderHeader GROUP BY SalesPersonID )
    --Start of outer (main) query
    SELECT E.EmployeeID,
    OE.NumberOfOrders AS EmpOrders,
    OE.MostRecentOrderDate AS EmpLastOrder,
    E.ManagerID,
    OM.NumberOfOrders AS MgrOrders,
    OM.MostRecentOrderDate AS MgrLastOrder
    FROM HumanResources.Employee AS E
    INNER JOIN CTE AS OE ON E.EmployeeID = OE.SalesPersonID
    LEFT OUTER JOIN CTE AS OM ON E.ManagerID = OM.SalesPersonID
    In my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio, I executed this set of code and I got the following fatal error:
    Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 16
    Invalid column name 'EmployeeID'.
    I have no clues why I got this error message in this .sql trial of my second practice in doing CTE.  Please kindly help and let me know where I made mistake and how to resolve this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Chang

    Hi scott_morris-ga, Thanks for your nice response.
    I changed EmployeeID to BusinessEntityID as you pointed out and executed the revised code:
    -- CTETest2.sql /// saved in C:\My Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\
    ----Page 88 of Book by Toth === Using CTE in a query ----- 13 March 2015
    --Using CTE in a query
    ;WITH CTE (SalesPersonID, NumberOfOrders, MostRecentOrderDate)
    AS (SELECT SalesPersonID, COUNT(*), CONVERT(date, MAX(OrderDate))
    FROM Sales.SalesOrderHeader GROUP BY SalesPersonID )
    --Start of outer (main) query
    SELECT E.BusinessEntityID,
    OE.NumberOfOrders AS EmpOrders,
    OE.MostRecentOrderDate AS EmpLastOrder,
    E.ManagerID,
    OM.NumberOfOrders AS MgrOrders,
    OM.MostRecentOrderDate AS MgrLastOrder
    FROM HumanResources.Employee AS E
    INNER JOIN CTE AS OE ON E.BusinessEntityID = OE.SalesPersonID
    LEFT OUTER JOIN CTE AS OM ON E.ManagerID = OM.SalesPersonID
    I got 2 new error messages:
    Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 17
    Invalid column name 'ManagerID'.
    Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 12
    Invalid column name 'ManagerID'.
    I have no ideas what should be used to replace 'ManagerID' in my revised code. Could you please help again and give me the right thing to replace the 'ManagerID'? By the way, where in the AdventureWorks do you find the right things?  Please enlighten
    me in this matter.
    Many Thanks again,  Scott Chang

  • Using oracle thin driver with to_char gives invalid column name

    select x,y,z, to_char(event_time,'YYYY-MMM-DD') from eventtable;
    if i execute the above query using oracle thin driver it gives me invalid column name. It works fine if i use weblogic driver. So what could be the problem ???
    thanks.

    Sorry , forgot to add that 'YYYY-MM-DD' or 'YYYY-Month-DD' or 'Year-MM-DD' or 'Year-Month-DD' are also allowed(please cheek also for other combinations), not 'YYYY-MMM-DD'.
    Thanks

  • Invalid column name error

    Having an interesting problem with a site I'm fixing. I'm
    sure I'm looking past the obvious, so maybe some of you can help:
    ASP Pages display results from recordset based on a session
    variable (memberID) that is created during user login.
    Recordset looks like this:
    <%
    Dim rs__MMColParam
    rs__MMColParam = "%"
    If (Session("memberID") <> "") Then
    rs__MMColParam = Session("memberID")
    End If
    %>
    <%
    set rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
    rs.ActiveConnection = MM_cnConnection_STRING
    rs.Source = "SELECT id, adminusername, anotherone1,
    anotherone2, anotherone3 FROM dbo.basic1 WHERE adminusername = '" +
    Replace(rs__MMColParam, "'", "''") + "'"
    rs.CursorType = 0
    rs.CursorLocation = 2
    rs.LockType = 3
    rs.Open()
    rs_numRows = 0
    %>
    Seems correct to me, unles I'm overlooking something obvious.
    Unfortunately I keep getting the following error:
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'
    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid column
    name 'SESSIONVAR'.
    (Note: in this error above, SESSIONVAR is the name of the
    session variable memberID)
    Strange thing is, as long as the session variable is a #,
    everything works. If it's a word, it won't work. So it appears the
    session variables are being defined and passed to the next page.
    As for the database, it's a SQL Database
    column 'adminusername' is a NVARCHAR with a 4000 char limit
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Are you sure the query is the same? It looks like the one you posted has a syntax error
    SELECT e.emp_id, e.dep_id
      FROM emp e, loc ct, dep dt
    WHERE[b] c.dep_id[/b] IN (SELECT dt.dep_idYou've aliased the LOC table to CT in the FROM clause, but you're using the alias C in the WHERE clause. You use the correct alias CT in the query in your IN clause.
