Invalide connect string

Hi
While making a connection to OLite database i gave the url as
" jdbc:polite4@localhost:100:orabpel" and the same is available in oc4j-ra.xml file as connection string but while testing connection it displays the error message as
Internal error : invalid connection string. please advice
thanks
partha

This is the connect string I have which works:
"jdbc:polite4@localhost:100:orabpel"
using driver class
"oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver"
I notice you have a leading space in the url you quote in your post, is this causing the problem?

    You may possibly modified the oc4j-ra.xml file in the stand-alone directory instead of the file under the OC4J_BPEL directory in midtier.
    Currently, we are seeing some issues with the sample in midtier. So you may like to wait for the GA release [ mid May] for trying out this sample.
    Otherwise please send a mail to [email protected], you need any early drop of this sample.

  • OracleConnectionStringBuilder creating invalid connection string

    Hi,
    I am trying to use OracleConnectionStringBuilder to construct the connection string, but there seems to be a bug in how it handles the Data Source property.
    If I assign

    Sorry, hit a key by mistake. Here we go again:
    Hi,
    I am trying to use OracleConnectionStringBuilder to construct the connection string, but if I assign the value
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=titan)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED(SERVICE_NAME=XXX)))
    to the DataSource property, quotes are added by OracleConnectionStringBuilder in the resulting ConnectionString. If I use that connection string, I get
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    I am using the 11g beta. Will this work in the final 11g release?
    Thanks

  • Ultrasearch Connection string format issue

    Hi,
    I have been wrestling with Ultrasearch installation and keep encountering this error when I attempt to load the Ultrasearch Portlet in the 10G MT.
    oracle.ultrasearch.query.SearchException: WKG17005: connection failure: Io exception: Invalid connection string format, a valid format is: "//host:port/service_name"
    My data_sources.xml file is configured as follows:
         <data-source
         class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl"
         name="UltraSearchDS"
         location="jdbc/UltraSearchPooledDS"
         username="Ultrasearch"
         password="*******"
         url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@//hostname:1521:sid"
         inactivity-timeout="30"/>
    I have verified the setup of the Ultrasearch user in the database, and have verified the Ultrasearch.properties file setup.
    I'm not sure if TNS is setup correctly or if the DAD settings for the portal have something to do with this - I was not able to find any referecne to configuration of those files in the Oracle Documenation.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Roy

    Roy
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@//hostname:1521:sid" isn't a valid url. You have to remove the "//", i.e. "jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:1521:sid".
    The syntax "//host:port/service_name" is used when to want to use a service name instead of SID.

  • JDBC connection strings

    We're having a problem connecting to one of our databases using JDBC thin. There seem to be two formats for the connection strings:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@opctest.deq.state.ms.us:1522:TEST8131
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@//opctest.deq.state.ms.us:1522/TEST8131
    From a java app, the first throws an "Io exception: Invalid connection string format, a valid format is: "//host:port/service_name" " error; the second throws a TNS-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor error.
    What confuses me more is that if I test this string from a JSP page:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@opctest.deq.state.ms.us:1522:test8131
    it connects fine.
    The environment is Oracle9i on Red Hat, running MTS. Java app is running on WinXP. Anyone have an idea what's going on?
    Thanks,
    Harry

    I can see a couple of issues in your connect string:
    1. I see you are using the sid in uppercase, TEST8131 instead of test8131. If you are working on a unix environment this makes a difference, so use the lower case instead.
    2. You are using the 1522 port, check with your database administrator if the instance is registered against the 1522 port, otherwise the error TNS-12514 will show up. I will assume it currently works fine since you have declared the jsp using the same address works fine with this port.
    3. Ensure the hostname can be solved just exactly the way you have declared it (fully qualified domain) from the perspective where the jdbc program is running.
    4. the format described here: opctest.deq.state.ms.us:1522/TEST8131 is known as the EZConnect, and it is a 10g feature.

  • IPv6 format connection string 10g

    Hi
    I am using Oracle 10g driver for java 1.4. I am trying to connect to the db using a connection string with an IPv6 format, for example:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:fernando/password@[3ffe:ffff:0:f110::91]:1521:perf11
    and I can't get connected. It raises the following exception:

    Can anybody tell me what have I forgotten or done wrong?
    Thank in advance

    I have the same queestion:
    Can we connect to the Oracle database using a connection string with an IPv6 format? I have no problem using hostname, but would like to know if IPv6 address is supported in db connection url?
    Thanks!

    Hi Rituparna,
    In Visual admin, go to SLD suppliers and JCO RFC provider and test the connections.
    parameters specified should match with sm59.
    Can you please check the following connections in sm 59
    LCRSAPRFC
    SAPSLDAPI
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    SLD_CHECK
    Also check if the port is open that is used in the connection string.

  • The database link contains invalid connection information

    I am working on owb10.1, oracle db 10g release 2
    As i try to create a new module through the New Module Wizard, everything is fine until setting the connection information step. Since this is the first time to create a module, I pick the option "Oracle Data Dictionary" and also create a new database link successfully. After choosing the new database link, when i click the next button, an error occurs
    *"API4006: The database link contains invalid connection information.*
    *API2414: Cannot determine version information for the specified database link.*
    *Check the database link and try again."*
    I could create and test the new database link successfully. but here why I can't choose this db link to do the next step?
    Any thoughts?
    please help me out.
    Thanks

    database link name works well now. i changed the global_name parameter.
    after that i try to create a new db link, but still can't go to the next step and the same error occurs.
    The details of the database link:
    Database Link:    Test
    Owner:     GINO_OWNER
    User Name:     SCOTT
    Connect String:  127.0.0.1:1521:orcl
    Schema:      SCOTT
    any thought?

  • Cmdlnlauncher for sequences throwing connection string error..

    Hi All,
    I have Hyperion suite v11.1.1.3. I am trying to use cmdlnLauncher.bat to schedule few rules and sequences. I was able to do it for rules however for sequences, I am getting error.
    My syntax:
    cmdlnLauncher.bat -p:password -S<server name> -Uadmin -sAct2011
    Error: "Connect String missing or has an invalid format. Please specify a valid connect string (Server/App/DB)"
    As the -f<rtp file> is ignored for sequences, I am not sure how to pass connection string to the wizard.
    Any suggestions please..
    Kind regards,
    Ankit

  • Parent Variable Configuration - Passing Connection strings..

    I have one parent package and a few child packages. I am using SQL Server 2008 R2.
    I want to pass variables from Parent Package containing Connection String and other data to the child package. I created few variables in parent package e.g. ParentConnectionString & child package e.g. ChildConnectionString. I set the child package variables
    using Package Configurations > Configuration Type = Parent package variable and map the ChildConnectionString value to ParentConnectionString.
    I have put a script component that displays variables value set in the child package from parent package.
    In child package i have a Connection of ConnectionManagerType = OLEDB. I have added an expression to set the ConnectionString using the ChildConnectionString.
    When i run the parent package during the validation phase, it calls the child package. The script component displays the values are being set in child package from parent package but after that it fails saying  - invalid username/password; logon denied.
    I suspect that the connectionstring expression are going to be executed at run time and not at validation time.
    If i put the complete connection string in ChildConnectionString it works fine.
    I am not sure if i am doing anything wrong?

    It could be that you simply need to put the DelayValidation property to True.
    Thing is, when the package starts it validates itself; but at this time the design time connection string property is used, whereas the "real" conn string has been designed to come at a later - runtime, hence you need to set the DelayValidation to true to
    make the package not checking the connectivity in advance, and thus successfully start.

    is there any parameter that needs to be set. Someone can help here!!

    Have got the same problem. Scenario at my end is little different though.
    I am trying to invoke a BPEL process from an ESB Service.
    I am trying to look into it..

  • How to specifiy the provider to be Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client when creating a dynamic connection string with EF Code First from Database?

    I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). First of all, it works fine as long as the connection string is inside the App.Config file. But when I try to build it dynamically in the C# code (or rather, statically at the moment) it fails. I have it working with a dynamically built connection string when doing Model from Database though, so I'm at a loss right now.
    First, I have created a second constructor for the context class that takes a string and does base(connectionString). Then I build the connection string via
    OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
    oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
    oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
    oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
    oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
    string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
    Now trying to open an EntityConnection by giving to it this provider-specific connection string (or even the static one from the App.Config) doesn't work; I get "keyword not supported: user id"). Trying it by creating a context and giving this connection string doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure that this is because I didn't specify the provider to use; after all, it should use the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider and not an SQL Server based one.
    I then tried to get around this by using an EntityConnectionStringBuilder on top and specifying the provider keyword there, but then I get "keyword not supported: provider" when using it in the context constructor, and "the 'metadata' keyword is always required" when using it with the EntityConnection constructor.
    As I said above: I bet it's the provider that I have to specify somehow, but I don't know how. The code that does work is the following:
    using (var context = new Model())
    context.Database.Connection.Open();
    context.Database.Connection.Close();
    When I read context.Database.Connection.ConnectionString, it is exactly the provider-specific connection string I created above, but I don't know where to specify the provider again. Do you know of any way to do this? Certainly there must be one.
    PS: I have also posted this question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27979454/ef-code-first-from-database-with-managed-oracle-data-access-dynamic-connection because it is quite urgent and I'd like to use Code First from Database. Otherwise I'd have to go "back" to using Model from Database again, which is not ideal because we have updatable views where the .edmx-file has to be edited after every reload of the model, while with Code First from DB inserting into the view automatically works.
