Inventory management - Moving to SAP WM - Next Steps

Hi All WM experts,
Currently we have our Stock managed via inventory mangement(SAP IM module - Storage location level).
We are planning to implement SAP WM ( SAP Warehouse Management Module )very soon.
What are the next steps in terms of transferring the stock from Storage location level  to Storage bin level?
Please advise.

  • Will MIM (Merchandize and inventory management) work with SAP AFS / SAP POS

We are implementing SAP AFS ERP at the head office and SAP POS at the retail stores.
We want to implement the MIM module for inventory management at retail store level. Does MIM work in conjunction with SAP AFS. A consultant was suggesting that MIM works only with SAP Retail and no other vertical SAP solution.
    Can someone please clarify?

MIM is linked to IS Retail, not to AFS.
Nevertheless, you can always link and AFS and a Retail system.  SAP provides a very convincing ALE scheme for this.

  • Info Req on Inventory Management

    Hi Experts,
I am working on BI 7.0. Our client is planning to implement the Inventory Management in SAP and they will use the BI as the reporting tool. So we need to feed the Inventory management data into BI.
So I want to work on that point and need some information like what are the Data sources we will use for Inv Mgmt and how can we load the data from SAP R/3. Is there any special steps that we need to take into account while we work on this area.
If any one of u can give some inputs in this regard and any helpful material reg the same will be helpfull to me.
    Thanks.

  • Inventory Management (production company) - how do you do it?

    Hi Experts
We need a tool (report) which can help controlling the inventory (for a production company) and thereby support the persons who order materials etc. so that they know what materials to order and how much to order etc. The tool should be able to give ex recommendation on which materials to order based on the avg. movements in the stock and current demand.
The goal is to support the people who orders materials to have more acurate stock levels and thereby avoid running out a stock and having to much stock.
In that relation I have two questions:
    1. Do you know any business content report/flow which can be activated for a purpose like this?
    2. Have you got any experience in inventory management for production companies? In case you have please let me know about the solution you implemented/know about.
Thanks a lot and kind regards,
    Torben

    Pedersen,
    1. Do you know any business content report/flow which can be activated for a purpose like this?
--> Yes, Standard business content available for Inventory management for reporting purpose.
[BI Content - Inventory Management |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/06/8c6cfe0e67fd43a6cd3603d246ced7/frameset.htm]
    2. Have you got any experience in inventory management for production companies? In case you have please let me know about the solution you implemented/know about.
--> Based on above content we can check stock levels, moments(receipts & issues) and also slow moving.
--> But these content purely for repoting purpose only. How you want to build data on top of this...? and how you want to pass same information to raise an order...?

  • Business Content Inventory Management (0IC_C03) Cube

I am thinking of adding a data staging ODS to our Inventory Management model.  However, I wanted to check whether the delivered cube 0IC_C03 is aggregated or whether it is a representation of the R3 extraction.  If the latter is the case I do not see the purpose of an additional ODS layer.  Could anyone pass their thoughts? Thanks

    hi Niten,
check oss note 581778-ODS capability of extractors from Inventory Management
    Symptom
Data is not updated into the ODS when you load certain data records of the 2LIS_03_BF extractor.
    Other terms
    ODS, 2LIS_03_BF, 2LIS_03_UM, 2LIS_03_BX, 2LIS_40_S278, 0STORNO, ROCANCEL, RODMUPDMOD, 0RECORDMODE, Inventory Management, 0IC_C03,
Application 03, Logistics Extraction Cockpit, LBIW
    Reason and Prerequisites
The 2LIS_03_BF extractor does not return any "connected" after and before images, as in the SD extraction, for example.
Originally, the extractor was only designed for updating into an InfoCube. The extraction method was converted from the "D" delta process to "ABR1" with PI 2000.1 patch 4, or PI-A 2000.1 patch 4 so that it could be updated into an ODS object (see notes 322303, 385703 and 323811).
If documents are canceled in Inventory Management, a new document is generated (new document and item number).
This type of operation is transferred into BW with the "ROCANCEL" field set to 'X'. This results in the necessary inversion of quantities or value key figures. A new record is generated for this in the ODS (the "preceding document" has another key).
    Example:
    ODS key: Doc.
    Movement data:
Document   Item    Document year   Movement type     Qty     ROCANCEL
    4711       1       2002             101              +100
    4712       1       2002              102              -100     X
    ODS contents:
Document   Item.   Document year   Movement type    Quantity
    4711       1       2002             101                 +100
    4712       1       2002                                   -100
The "Movement type" field was set to "initial" in the data record for document "4712" by the processing during the ODS update.
Document 4712 is a before image (0RECORDMODE = 'X') for the ODS. Therefore, this data does not arrive in the ODS. Nevertheless, the before image (document 4712) does not have any context with the after image (document 4711) because there are different keys (document/item/document year). The SAP R/3 inventory management controls these activities with new material documents and (reversal) movement types.
BW technology note no. 747037 provides more information.
    Solution
You have two options to evaluate cancellations or operations which contain reversal movement types and ROCANCEL = "X" in the ODS:
    1. Implement a start routine
Insert the following code into the start routine of your update:
ODS key: Material doc.|Item number|Calendar year
    BEGIN******************************
    LOOP AT DATA_PACKAGE.
      if DATA_PACKAGE-recordmode eq 'X'.
        DATA_PACKAGE-recordmode = ''.
        modify DATA_PACKAGE.
      endif.
    endloop.
    END********************************
    2. Change the transfer rules
With the transfer rules, do not assign the "ROCANCEL" DataSource field to the "0RECORDMODE" InfoObject in the InfoSource. As a result, only records with "0RECORDMODE" = ' ' are transferred to the ODS. For the ODS, the after images whose characteristics or key figures that are set to overwrite, are not deleted.
Other special features when updating the extractors of the inventory management into ODS objects:
    1. 2LIS_03_BF and 2LIS_03_UM
    a) ODS capability
For more information, see notes 322303, 323811 and 385703.
    b) Key creation
    For 2LIS_03_BF, see note 417703.
The following keys are available for 2LIS_03_UM:
    1. MCMSEG-BUKRS
    2. MCMSEG-BELNR
    3. MCMSEG-GJAHR
    4. MCMSEG-BUZEI
Field no. 4 is not delivered as standard in the extract structure, but it can be added using the Logistics extract structures Customizing Cockpit.
Field no. 1 may not be included in the relevant organizational structure.
    2. 2LIS_03_BX (up to and including 3.0B 2LIS_40_S278)
The dynamic stock calculation from stocks (2LIS_03_BX) and movements (2LIS_03_BF) is only possible with (non-cumulative) InfoCubes.
Using ODS technology is only useful in this context for:
    - an Enterprise DataWarehouse layer
    - the realization of a snapshot scenario:
See the How to paper for this topic at:
    -> http://service.sap.com/bw
-> left navigation area: SAP BW InfoIndex
    -> info index: N ("Non-cumulatives") ->
"How to... handle inventory management scenarios in SAP BW 3.x" (pdf)
Use note 773823 to update the 2LIS_03_BX InfoSource into an ODS.
Note also that you cannot update any key figures into an ODS object (see notes 752492 and 782314).

  • What is the next step after ABAP ? Need resources for SAP structure

    Hello,
I have learned ABAP and now it is time to use it to write SAP programs. But what is the next step?
From where can I get information about SAP tables to proceed?
I have 2 ABAP books but they only provide the syntax for ABAP. After learning that, I am finding trouble in knowing on which objects/tables to apply it on.
For example, I want to know that when I use the CV01n to create a file, what happens in terms of internal SAP tables?
If I select multiple files in the search result "CV04N" which table should I access to get these selected files?
Basically does anyone know where I can find such resources in order to understand how to proceed in developing SAP application ?
    Regards.

    Hi HASSAN,
For Learning the Business part of  ABAP, (That is what is missing for you i.e the tables and their relations), i would suggest you to take one module at a time.
Like MM(Material management) or SD(Sales and distribution) etc.

  • Post Installation Steps for ERP add-on Inventory Manager 4.0

    Hi,
I need to confirm what are the post-installation activities we must to perfom for ERP Add-on (Inventory Manager 4.0), besides de BC Activation. I did not find any information regarding the post installation steps for the ERP Add-on of Inventory Manager 4.0 (the installation guide for IM 4.0 on service marketplace does not remark the steps only explain the theorical part of the installation)... And we need to confirm if the steps are the same of Inventory Manager 3.2 Add-on or we must do an additional step?
    Best Regards,
    MC
    Stephen Streeter Manju Venkatesha

    Yeah...of course...
    I forgot to specify it.
I install the first ERP 2005 SR2 on Oracle 10.2.0.2 and the other have to be installed on the same version of DB.
    All installation are not MCOD.
This mean every installation has its own DB with different SID for every installation.
And of course I have at least doubled the space required by installer. Taken from sap notes the required space for ERP 2005 SR2 is about 90 GB.
The total space of mount point is about 500 GB....

  • SAP Inventory Manager 4.0 installation problems

I am having problems when trying to install the new version of Inv Manager 4.0 on windows server 2008.  The installation is performed by first installing and patching to latest release an SMP 3.0 server, followed by an installation of the SAP Inventory Manager 4.0.0 Deployment exe file.  That installation runs without any errors but no app is visible on the SMP, no folders or shortcuts or other indications are visible that it was successful.  Also very strange is that according to the installation guide there are some steps (1-6) which I cannot see, my install runs jumps directly from step 3 step nr. 7 (serial numbers, install type, keys are all missing or not requested by the installation for some reason).  I have installed this on 4 different servers/PC´s where at least 2 of those were totally fresh systems that didn´t have any previous installation of either Agentry or SMP.  The prerequisites are met (java, jco etc) but what puzzles me the most is that I don´t see any logs or error messages.
    Help is much appreciated

    Bjorn,
    At very high level...
    1) Install  SMP Server   with Latest support pack. you don't need to enter any server serial numbers details.
    2) Logon to SMP Management cockpit.
    3) create Agentry  application for Inventory Manager and save it.
    4) Once Agentry application is created under server->configuration folder you can see a folder created.
    Server\configuration\com.sap.mobile.platform.server.agentry.application.
    5)  Execute SAPInventoryMgr400Deployment.exe by entering SAP back end connection details.
    6)   Once you complete step 5), you have IM 4.0 deployment application is created.  at this point you  can copy all the  deployment folder contents to application folder created in step 4) or do publish from editor or follow step 5.
    5) Select Agentry application ->go to App Specific settings tab ->Under publish option "upload your Inventory Manager  deployment zip file" and save the changes.
    6) Re-start  the Server.
    7) Test if your application is deployed correctly  by entering URL in the browser https ://<hostname>:8081/<appname> .  you should get response as 'I'm here".
    8)  if step 7) is not successful then troubleshoot  Agentry app deployment ( turn on agentry logging and check for startup errors ).
check this thread for SMP 3.0 Server Installation troubleshooting.

  • Solution Manager 7.1 Install, next steps

I completed the install of Solution Manager 7.1 on Windows x64/SQL Server, I've read through the master installation guide, but I'm not certain what the next steps will be to get initial configuration done.  I've read multiple posts that mention running SOLMAN_SETUP from SAP GUI, but at present I can't seem to log in, because it seems to require a SAP Router?
Question is do I really need the SAP Router, am I using the correct software (SAPGUI/SAPLOGON) to login?  Is there another piece of software I need?
Ultimately I need to install ERP 6.0 however I can't complete that install without a key from solution manager, so I'll need to get this sorted first.
I'd greatly appreciate a push in the right direction. Thank you!

Thanks for the response, I did manage to get connected, after a while of searching I found that the listeners were not started for some reason, which I started, and I found a resource that detailed how to get logged in via SAPLogin.
This was prior to your response unfortunately, so I have already started down the path of running SOLMAN_SETUP without creating a client copy.  From what I'm reading in the article you linked, that's a best practice of sorts, but for us it will not be so important as our interest is in a development system only and have no production use planned at any time.  If it's not too late to create the copy I can still do so if it's going to ultimately benefit the installation.
I ran into some issues going through the system preparation in solman_setup, now that I've read the article you've listed I'm still confused if I need SAP Router or not, I would greatly prefer not to use it as it seems to require additional network/DMZ setup and this is sort of a rush project at the moment.  Furthermore the guide you linked for SOLMAN_SETUP references a prerequisite that RFC Destination SAPOSS uses a working connection, which again seems to rely on the SAP Router.  I'm very interested in knowing if I can avoid that step, but if it's absolutely necessary something can be done.
I've gone through the System Preparation guide, unfortunately SP10 seems to be the latest version so I'm not sure how much of this is redundant now in SP12.
    Other questions:
    - LMDB seems to replace SLD but still requires a functional SLD?  I opted to configure a local SLD during installation but I've not looked into any additional configuration needed to be done here, is there a good article that explains SLD?
I just need to get far enough along to generate the key to get ERP up and running ultimately, thanks for the help.

    Hi,
Customizing settings can be collected by processes into Business Configuration Sets (BC Sets). BC Sets make Customizing more transparent by documenting and analyzing the Customizing settings. They can also be used for a group rollout, where the customizing settings are bundled by the group headquarters and passed on in a structured way to its subsidiaries.
BC Sets are provided by SAP for selected industry sectors, and customers can also create their own.
When a BC Set is created, values and combinations of values are copied from the original Customizing tables into the BC Set and can be copied into in the tables, views and view clusters in the customer system. The BC Sets are always transported into the customer system in which Customizing is performed.
    Advantages of using BC Sets:
    1.     Efficient group rollout.
    2.     Industry sector systems are easier to create and maintain.
    3.     Customizing can be performed at a business level.
    4.     Change Management is quicker and safer.
    5.     Upgrade is simpler.
To create BC sets follow the below step:
Choose Tools ® Customizing ® Business Configuration Sets® Maintenance in the SAP
menu, or enter the transaction code SCPR3 in the command field.
    Choose Bus.Conf.Set ® Create.

  • SAP Inventory management interface with Third party Warehouse System

    Hi Experts,
Need your input for designing the SAP solution with existing Third party warehouse system ( Exacta ):-
SAP ERP will be implemented for all locations of Client ( SAP MM, FI, PS , HR etc ).The Client has 10 distribution centres which are on Exacta Warehouse systems and will be linked with SAP Inventory management system.
The way it will work - Goods receipt will always happen in SAP for all locations and then interface needs to Trigger subsequent Putaway activities at Exacta Ware house ( third party warehouse system) for those 10 locations.
Goods Issue for these locations will happen from Exacta and then update will be posted in SAP via interface.
All locations will be created as Plant /Storage locations in SAP.
Need your inputs what special configurations need to happen in SAP for those locations so that goods receipt in SAP can trigger putaway activities in Exacta system .
Do we need to do configuration for decentralised Warehouse in SAP for handling this?
Pl. give your inputs based on your past experience where you handled such scenarios via interface with SAP Inventory management and legacy warehouse systems.
Thanks for quick response on this.
    Regards,
    Krish

    Krish
This is a std business process where clients have used their existing warehousing systems but implemented SAP forother functions such as Order entry, inventory mgmt and procurement, financials.
The typical interface that needs to happen is
    1. Sales order ( and or delivery)
    2. Invetory needs to be passed to the WH. Typically people send it when SAP GR takes place.
    3. When WH system does picking, it sends signal to SAP which then does PGI for the sales order delivery and that takes the stock out of the system.
Material master has to be transferred or mapped between two systems. Also, other elements need to be mapped between two systems.
The way I have seen this happening is :
you have an output on the SAP GR process. That creates an idoc to the WH system. Based on the capabilities of the WH system, it then does appropriate actions in the system.
Many times, middlewares are used to translate/ map the data between SAP and the WH systems.
So system wise, there is ALE setup that needs to take place for IDOC creations.
Configuration and coding is required for the output type and the program behind it. There are several std FUnction Modules that can be used for this.
    Hope this helps.
