Invisible text in design view, how do I make it visible?

I cant figure out why the text in Dreamweaver is invisible,
though I can highlight it still, and see it fine in code view. I
cant make it visible in design view. I dont see css attached to the
text itself, only to the block, and other site elements, but
something in css is causing the text to be hidden and I dont know
how to make it visible. Anybody know what I should be editing or
looking to edit?

It sounds like a containing element may have display:none,
and that is
altered by JavaScript in the browser. DW Design View does not
run
JavaScript, so you won't see elements like that in Design
View.
If this is the case, and you are running CS3 (I think?) or
later, go to
Preferences > Invisible Elements and make sure
display:none elements are
turned on. This will show an icon in Design View that you
can
right-click and use Element View > Full (shortcut is to
double-click) on
to temporarily see that element. Use Element View > Hidden
(or F5) to
revert to the default view.
You can also override display:none in a Design-time Style
Sheet if you
want to always see that/those elements.

Hi All,
Even editing text in Design View is now difficult in DW CC? I just upgraded.
It seems difficult - or impossible - to select, copy and paste multiple blocks of text from one place to another - unless you work in the Code View.
Text blocks are separate entities, separately edited? I can't even copy and paste an image from one file into another.
Previously, I'd regularly select an image - or a load of text - and replace it with some copied from elsewhere by 'pasting'.
I must be missing something. Perhaps there's another mode of working.

You're probably in Live View.
CC2014.1 does some strange things when it comes to Live and Design Views.
1. Design View is gone for Fluid Grid Layouts, so all editing has to be done in Code or Live View. There is a work around to get Design View back for those in Post #6 here: Editing Text and Adding Links Is Crazy in DW CC-2014.1

2. Design and Live Views are now a dropdown menu. Check the top left of your workspace, you should see Code | Split | Live with a small triangle next to Live. Click it to access Design View in everything but FGL pages

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

How do I make them visible?

I have an external hard drive that is split into one PC section and one Mac section. I have a new MacBookPro and now I want to copy some files from the PC section to the Mac section but can not see any files in the PC section to copy. How do I make them visible?

Open Terminal in the Utilities folder. Enter at the prompt:
chflags nohidden
After the word "hidden" put a space and type in the path to and name of the file. For example, if they are on the Desktop: chflags nohidden ~/Desktop/name_of_file. Include the file's extension. Press RETURN. If all the files have the same extensions, then use chflags nohidden ~/Desktop/*.jpg or *.jpeg.

In design view, how to change the white panel background so white text displays? (I keep having to go to Live view to see it)

When I'm adding white text it doesn't show up as the background input panel is white, and I keep having to go into Live view to see the paragraph spacings etc. Is there a way round this, other than changing the text colour in CSS to, for instance, black, and then changing it back before I upload the page?

Hi, and thanks, but it's my fault, I think I'm describing it wrong!
I've attached two screenshots from that area of the screen, one with the white text on the white background (showing as invisible) and the other where I've highlighted the text so you can see where it is. The background .jpg isn't a solid colour, it's a pattern, and if I added an equivalent pattern to the text area div, it wouldn't line up properly on all sreen resolutions, so that's why I gave that div a transparent background. When I go into Live view, the page displays perfectly, but in Design view I can't see to make amendments to the paragraphs etc.

Text from Design view is not visible on View

I converted a project from RoboHelp 9 to 11, and discovered that several of my topics were changed. Most of the changes were minor, e.g. spacing, bold type, bullets, etc., but I'm still having to go through each page, to make corrections. Oftentimes, the "problems" don't show up until I View the topic, but up to this point I've been able to fix them. However, one topic looks fine in Design view, but when I open it in View, almost all of the text is gone. I've tried retyping portions, to see if it reappeared, but not all of it does. Do you have any idea what is happening and how I fix it?

Here's the deal. In times past, the eHelp corporation had RoboHelp. And they created RoboHelp HTML long before HTML really was wildly popular. In those times it was necessary to implement some rather arcane workarounds to allow editing and a WYSIWYG environment.
Time moves forward and Adobe are now the owners of the venerable RoboHelp. They modified the editor to be more standards compliant. And as you might imagine, that has the real possibility of somewhat munging things. Not that RoboHelp is munging code, but browsers are now a bit more persnickety about things. For example, that transparent thing was likely there in earlier browser versions and was ignored. So it's a combination of things.

Text in design view is appearing as garbled gibberish?

As you'll see in the screenshot - all text is churned out as gibberish in design view.
I'm guessing this is some simple fix - but havent a clue what it is.
Am Mac Dreamweaver CS3.
Any help appreciated!

Could be corrupted fonts. Try font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif.

Cursor off-set from text in design view CS3

I'm a recent MacSwitcher and found that DW 8 won't run worth
a damn on my new MacBook Pro (Intel). So am using trial version of
DW CS3 and having this bit of weirdness... where I put the cursor
on the page in design view is about 1 character "off" from where it
appears to be. Is this a CS3 thing? Mac thing? Stupid user thing?
It makes editing in design view practically impossible! Never had
this in any version on Windows. Any ideas? Thanks!

supported on
Windows, but not the Mac.
If not, please provide a link to a page where you are seeing
the problem.

Invisible Filter in "Places" View: How to clear it?

Hello all,
all of a sudden I am having trouble with the "Places" View (from the Toolbar, not from the Inspector).
When I display any folder, project, or the Photos View, and select "Places" from the Toolbar, the map is empty and only the images without geotags are displayed in the Filmstrip; the result is exactly as if an invisible Filter were applied, that selects only the videos and images without geotags, whereas the Places View from the Library displays all 20000 images correctly. All visible filters all thru the folder hierarchie are cleared;I tried several variations of Frank Caggiano's neat trick to clear invisible filters in Photos View (Correct AnswerRe: Photos not showing up in search), but the double double reverse Caggiano does not seem to help here. Neither did trashing preferences, rebooting, switching libraries, repairing permission, nor repairing the library.
BTW: the problem is the same with all libraries - old and new - in my user account on this MBP;
Any suggestions, before I go to the trouble of reinstalling Aperture or Lion?

Copied images from flash drive and they are invisible. how do I make them visible

I have copied some image files (jpeg format) from a flash drive onto my imac. When I go to view the images they do not appear. When I try to copy them again, there is a message that I cannot modify invisible images. These images were originally downloaded to a windows-based computer and copied to the flash drive. Is there a way to make these image files visible? I am trying to use them for a website. Thanks!

Applications folder is invisible - how do I make it visible?

Applications folder no longer shows in MacIntosh HD finder but is still available in finder sidebar. How do I restore the Applications folder to the MacIntosh finder window?

I tried to follow this part of the instructions:
Apple has recognized the problem of the home folder becoming invisible and has a new Knowledge Base Article giving a brand new Terminal command to fix it. This brings us to the good news: in Leopard the change flags (chflags) command has been modified so that it now will set a Finder "hidden" flag (and unset it too, of course), as it will change the visible bit. The command can be used on drives and folders, and is available whether you have installed Developer Tools or not. Thus to change the hidden flag, or set the invisible bit back to visible on your home folder, you would issue this command:
chflags nohidden /Users/yourshortname
Specifically I copied the command, opened Terminal, clicked on new command, pasted the command, substituted my shortname, and clicked run. Unfortunately the folder, "Applications" is still hidden. Am I doing what I should?

I was looking at my usage and it said I had 11 gb of memory used up by my texts, which is a bit rediculous. However, everytime I try to delete my texts I lose the ability to send and recieve texts messages. Upon turning my phone and and off again all the texts come back. I've tried backing up my phone after deleting all of my texts and still no luck. I've also tried turning messages off of spotlight and deleting and I do not use iCloud. I dont know what else to do. I'd prefer not to use a 3rd party program to delete my texts because I'm a little wary of it but if enough people suggest it and theres no other fix I'll probably end up trying it. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? Has there been a fix in a new 7 update? I still have 7.0.

Comments on MacBook Pages– how can I make them visible for all users?

When I use Pages on my MacBook, the comments show up as black text in a yellow box on my computer, but when I export it as a .doc and email it to others, it shows up as white text on yellow for some PC users.
