Invoking a parser class from an applet resulting in exception

I wrote a xml parser to parse a string . Iam parsing the string to the constructor of the parser class . Iam instantiating the parser class from an applet in the java console of the browser the following error is thrown. But instantiating the parser class from a servlet is not possing any issues .Hope to get a reply

    Is it possible to invoke a Java class from Data Services? I have a query transform with a varchar column which I want to run an external java class against to encrypt the string value. In the Management Console, I created an adapter of type TestAdapter and referenced my jar file in the Classpath section, but when I create a Datastore of type Adapter I can't import any functions related to my java class? It seems like I need to create a new Adapter type similar to the TestAdapter with the 'Adapter Class' set to my java class? I can't figure out how to do this - which is the correct approach and is there some documentation available? thanks!

    First u nees to imoprt the class which u are doing right

  • How to use DOMParser from an Applet / Or, how to parse XML from an Applet?

    Hey,
    As stating in the subject line, I wonder how to do it without getting an Access Denied error.
    I would like to parse a XML file that has external DTD pointing to a SYSTEM location. Yes, I can change it to a public location. However, in either way, I have problems to use DOMBuilder to parse the xml file. The application always throws the security exception.
    I tried to use the DOMParser from org.apache.xerces.parsers to parse the xml file. I set the DOMParser to ignore parsing the external DTD, and use the DOMParser.parse(InputSource) to parse the xml file from a giving URL. However, I get null of the result document.
    Does anyone know how to parse the XML from an Applet? Or, does anyone know how to use the DOMParser from an Applet?
    Thank you very much,

    If the document resides on the local filesystem, you will need to sign a CAB or JAR for the applet to circumvent the sandbox's security restrictions. There are dozens of posts on how to do this. Basically, that will turn the applet into an application, from a Java security perspective.

  • Parsing HTML from Google API results

    Hello,
    I just downloaded the Google API (http://www.google.com/apis) and I am trying to parse the HTML content which is returned so that it can be displayed in a TextArea or some other GUI component.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Is there a Java class that can parse HTML and display it correctly?
    2. If not, are there are third party, prefabably free Java components that can do that?
    3. Has anyone tried out the Google API? Any interesting applications?
    Thank you.
    Hanxue

    To convert plain text to html, you can parse the text with a simple code like this
    1.
    String inputText = getInputText(); //
    StringBuffer HTMLOutputText = new StringBuffer();
    java.util.StringTokenizer st = new java.util.StringTokenzier(inputText, "\n\r");
    while ( st.hasMoreTokens() ) {
    HTMLOutputText.append(st.nextToken());
    HTMLOutputText.append("<br>");
    /// insert the top level HTML tags
    HTMLOutputText.insert(0, "<HTML> <HEAD><TITLE> Some Title</TITLE></HEAD> <BODY>");
    HTMLOutputText.insert( HTMLOutputText.getLength(), "</BODY> </HTML>" );
    2. even simpler, but as far as I know it doesn't display right in a JEditorPane
    String inputText = getInputText();
    inputText = "<HTML> <HEAD><TITLE> Some Title</TITLE></HEAD> <BODY> <PRE> <TT>" +
    + inputText + "</TT></PRE></BODY> </HTML>";

  • Can't parse xml from applet using dom on linux on Netscape 7 using jre 1.4.

    Hi,
    I can't seem to parse xml from an applet on linux on Netscape 7 using the JRE 1.4.
    My code looks like the following:
    StringBufferInputStream is = new StringBufferInputStream("<foo></foo>");
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = null;
    try
      builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
      domDocument = builder.parse(is); // this line creates an exception
    catch (Exception e)
      System.out.println(e);
    This code works fine from an applet on windows. On linux, the error message is:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission entityExpansionLimit read)
    I've tried both JRE 1.4.0_04 and 1.4.1_03
    Thanks!
    Q

    There's another posting about this same problem (platform unspecified), but the same error message. I was also having this problem (Windows 1.4.03) and swithced back to 1.4.01 and the problem went away. In the future, I may sign my applets to get a more generous security policy. But, I'm sure it'll be a lot of work (vs. a line of code somewhere).

  • Error Invoking Java class from Stored proc

    We are getting this error while calling a stored procedure that invokes a
    static function of a java class from inside Oracle 8.1.7.
    ORA-29516: Aurora assertion failure: Java thread deadlock detected
    ORA-06512: at "APPS.SERVICECONSUMERINVOKE", line 0
    ORA-06512: at line 40
    In a Toad SQL Window, when I execute the stored procedure that invokes the
    java function, it executes successfully on the first attempt. When I try to
    execute it again on the same SQL Window, it gives the above error. The java
    class is part of a package and indirectly makes a JMS request-reply call
    via other helper classes.
    The same package works fine from other web containers and
    unlike the Oracle JVM Aurora, the JVMs don't detect a deadlock.
    Why does the Aurora throw an error?

    Did you try issusing a commit and then trying again in Toad SQL Window?
    The advice is to contact support:
    ORA-29516: Aurora assertion failure: string
    Cause: An internal error occurred in the Aurora module.
    Action: Contact Oracle Worldwide Support.

  • How to invoke custom classes from logon PAR

    Hi all,
    Can someone tell me how I can invoke a java class that I have written on Click of a Submit button from the Help Page of the Login Screens. I have to customise this screen, changing the existing functionality.
    Regards,
    Ashwini.

    Hi Ashwini,
    On the onClick method of the Submit button refer the even handler method you have defined in you DynPage and in that event handler you can instantiate the required java class and call its functions.
    ex:
    in you JSP define:
    <hbj:button
         id="submitButton"
         text="Submit"
         tooltip="Click to search the forum"
         onClick="onSubmit"
    />
    in you DynPage define a event handler method called 'onSubmit(Event event)' and write you logic.
    Cheers

  • Invoke a method in one class from a different class

    I am working on a much larger project, but to keep this simple, I wrote out a little test that would convey the over all theory of the program.
    What I am doing is starting out with a 2 JFrames and a Class. When the program is launched, the first JFrame opens. In this JFrame is a label and a button. When the button is clicked, the second JFrame opens. This JFrame has a textField and a button. The user puts the text in the textField and presses the button. When the button is pushed, I want the text that was just put in the textField, to be displayed in the first JFrame's label. I am trying to invoke a method in the first JFrame from the second, but nothing happens. I have also tried making the Class extend from JFrame1 and invoke it from there, but no luck. So, how do I invoke a method in a class from a different class?
    JFrame1 (I omitted the layout part. I made this in Netbeans so its pretty long)
    public class NewJFrame1 extends javax.swing.JFrame {
         private NewClass1 nC = new NewClass1();
         /** Creates new form NewJFrame1 */
         public NewJFrame1() {
              initComponents();
              jLabel1.setText("Chuck");
         public void setLabels()
              jLabel1.setText(nC.getName());
    private void jButton1ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
         NewJFrame2 j2 = new NewJFrame2();
         j2.setVisible(true);The class
    public class NewClass1 {
         public static String name;
         public NewClass1()
         public NewClass1(String n)
              name = n;
         public String getName()
              return name;
         public void setName(String n)
              name = n;
    }The second jFrame
    private void jButton1ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
         NewClass1 nC = new NewClass1();
         NewJFrame1 nF = new NewJFrame1();
         nC.setName(jTextField1.getText());
         nF.setLabels();
         System.out.println(nC.getName());At this point I am begging for help. I have been trying for days to figure this out, and I just feel like I am not getting anywhere.
    Thanks

    So, how do I invoke a method in a class from a different class?Demo:
    public class Main {
        public static void main(String [] args) {
         Test1 t1 = new Test1();
         Test2 t2 = new Test2();
         int i = t1.method1();
         String s = t2.method2(i);
         System.out.println(s);
    class Test1 {
        public int method1() {
         return 10;
    class Test2 {
        public String method2(int i) {
         if (i == 10)
             return "ten";
         else
             return "nothing";
    }Output is "ten".

  • Applet accidentally requests Java Core API classes from network

    Hi,
    starting an applet from a customers client machine (IE7, Windows XP, Standard JRE Installation of Java 1.6.0_26), I see in the tomcat access log entries signalizing that core java api classes are accidentally requested from the server:
    "GET /mywebapp/applet/java/lang/StringBuilder.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1156 0
    "GET /mywebapp/applet/javax/swing/JPanel.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1141 0
    "GET /mywebapp/applet/java/net/JarURLConnection.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1162 0
    "GET /mywebapp/applet/java/util/jar/JarEntry.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1153 0
    "GET /mywebapp/applet/java/util/jar/JarFile.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1150 0
    Although tomcat responses with HTTP 404, the applet works fine.
    Questions:
    1. For me, it looks like a security risk when the browser tries to load system classes from the network instead of using the local files from the jre dir, doesn't it?
    2. When starting the applet from my local machine (different network), no tomcat logfile entries are generated. An interesting fact is, that in the customer network, the applet "codebase" parameter in the HTML source gets modifed by a proxy server for whatever reason like the following:
    <applet codebase="http://mydomain.org/mywebapp/applet">
    becomes some kind of:
    <applet codebase="http://mydomain.org/mywebapp/applet/+sgrkjkrlgjklJKLjekrr4jewlkfjkerlkrelkjgregkjerlkgljkeglkjgjelkLKJLKefjei55435ijjkl=+">
    It seems that such codebases confuse the classloader. Any ideas about that?
    Thank you so much for any hints!

    <applet codebase="http://mydomain.org/mywebapp/applet">
    So you're loading individual .class files from the codebase? Don't do that, put them into a JAR and specify the JAR file(s) as the codebase. Much more efficient and it may solve this problem too.

  • Can a signed applet run classes from disk?

    Hi all,
    I have a signed applet jar and a signed jar file somewhere on disk (I can ensure the jar file is available on client's machine before i run the applet). My applet doesn't let me have file io access from the classes in the jar file on disk. It gives the following exception:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission C:\test.jar read)
    However I do have file io access from classes in the applet jar itself. Both the jar files are signed.
    Is there any way to get around the plug-in security in this case?
    Using installed extension (jar/lib/ext) is not an option, unfortunately.

  • Runtime execution of a Class from applet.....

    Hi all,
    I have a applet in a jar(say A.jar) and it is signed. One more jar(say B.jar) is created and it contains a class that has to be executed using Runtime.exec() from the applet (in other jar -> A.jar). Both jars present in server and jar list is mentioned using <PARAM NAME=CACHE_ARCHIVE VALUE="...."> tag where the VALUE is assigned with list of jar names.
    So how to execute a Class at Runtime present in one jar from a applet present in other jar.
    Please help....

    Here i am not accessing a applet from another applet. I want to Run a Java Application from a Applet (using Runtime class). How to do this? Here the Java Application class exist in a seperate jar other than the jar which holds Applet class. Both jars are signed and both exist in server.

  • Invoking class from loaded swf

    I'm working on a project where I'm loading in a video player
    as an external swf to my main movie. I'm not able to get my video
    or the custom player to show up, but sound is there (I've done the
    whole Library>New Video thing, so I have a video object to
    reference).
    My question is: My loaded swf uses #include to include a
    script which imports two classes from a subdirectory, could that be
    causing the problem? My main movie never uses the classes.
    Just want to make sure this isn't my problem before I go
    digging into the script again!

    That is unlikely to be the problem. The .as includes are
    compiled into the
    SWF at publish. Much more likely is that you have
    inappropriate references
    to _root in your loaded movie. As it stands, the scope of
    _root, once you
    load the movie into another, is the _root of the *loading*
    movie. Either
    change these refs, or set the _lockroot property of the mc
    you are loading
    into to true.,

  • Reading from the Applet's JAR file.

    Is it possible to read a file stored in the jar file that the (unsigned) applet is being executed in? I have a line that goes like (in is just an InputStream):
    in = getClass().getResource( "/exercise.xml" ).openStream();
    and then, in another class, i do (bulider is an instance of javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder, created from the DocumentBuilderFactory class):
    doc = builder.parse( in );
    but this always results in a security exception (works fine from the applet viewer). I tried specifying the full path to the .jar file as the codebase, but got the same results. I have not tested this from an actual web server, i am only opening the .html file directly in IE.
    Due to the nature of the application, it is not possible to host the file seperately on a webserver.
    It seems to me that there is no reason an applet shouldnt be allowed to load a file from the .jar it is executing in, could this simply be a problem of the file being local, and thus linked to from a file:// tag?
    Thanks for any help.
    Thomas Stephens

    Hi Guys
    I have figured out this problem. It's got to do with classloader.
    Applet uses a separate classloader. So using the static getSystemResource(),
    we never get contents from applet jar files. The following will work nicely.
    It is noted that you must loacate the applet classloader as in the first line
    and use the non-static method getResource();
    ObjectInJar obj = new ObjectInJar(); // create an object with a class in the jar file.
    ClassLoader cl = obj.getClass().getClassLoader();
    InputStream stream = cl.getResource("your_filepath_in_jar").openStream();
    Cheers.
