Invoking exe file through java program
I have one exe file,which i want to invoke it from java program.I have used Runtime class to execute the exe, but it throws an exception

Can somebody throw some light on this?

Have you tried also supplying the absolute paths of the file arguments like "samples\medform.a"?

Everything should happen through java program. Bcos everything is dynamic here, no information is known (like dir, file names ...) until the runtime. Everything is user fed.

i tried com.sun.tools.javac.Main.. but either its not scaling to my needs or i donno how to wok with this.

Can any buddy help me updating zip file using java programs. I dont want to delete the zip file but I want to update single file in the zip.

Suppose there are 4 files zipped into single zip file.
zipped.zip contains a.txt, b.txt. c.txt. d.txt
Now the contect of a.txt got changed and I want to update zipped.zip to with the changed a.txt.
I have one way of creating a new file with new set of a.txt, b.txt, c.txt and then delete the earliar zipped.zip and rename the newly created zipped to zipped.zip.
I dont want to do the same as above mentioned way. Is there any way provided in java API to remove any entry or update any entry?

Calling a function in an EXE file from Java Program
Hi Im having a function which is written in c program.i need to call that function from my java program, if i create a shared library (DLL) for my C code then it works but my requirement is i dont want to create that DLL , like in it would be an executable and my java code should access that function in that C program
I understand the usage od a DLL but the thing is if i convert the exe to a DLL
the server doesnt start at all so what i need is that i dont want to change
that .EXE into a .DLL,let it be an executable. that executable is in running mode
and through my java program i need to call a function in that EXE file.
Is ther any way to do it?Nope, but you have another problem: why can't you separate your server program
into a .dll part and a startup part? Both, when properly linked against each other
should give you an executable file.

i want to invoke run.bat file from java pgm, i have written following code

Is there a way to get a file from a jar (for ex. a properties file) make changes to it on the fly and write the same file back to the jar through a Java program?

Error while running executable file through java in WinNT
I would like to run an executable file with Java.
- If I try with notepad or paint, i.e. Windows Applications,
I have no problem.
- I also can run Non-Windows-Own Applications, except one.
I get an error message, if I want to run this program through Java.
I have tried following commands to run an executable file.

I can run the application directly, if I click the icon on desktop,

I think it was written for Win 3.1.
Therefore I don't know if there is any other
possibilty to run a "DOS Exe File" through Java.I have just figured out how it works,

RamaDevi B.The concept of a default text editor is not OS-independent. Linux doesn't have one. (Yes, a shell can have one via the EDITOR environment variable, but you can invoke a jar from a window manager's desktop without running a shell. Nor does mailcap really count, because that defines a text viewer rather than a text editor). As far as I'm aware, OS X doesn't have one. In fact, Windows is the only OS which I know to have one.
