Invoking Restful Service

Hi,
I have a little problem, maybe it is stupid but... I'm invoking an external restful service using bpel component and http binding. In bpel component I have receive, invoke and reply elements. I'm sending a request and I know that is bad so I should get response with some message but I received empty payload like this:
<env:Envelope
  xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
  xmlns:wsa="http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing">
<env:Header>
  <wsa:MessageID>urn:D91BC430F07D11E2BFAD03BF00B9D76D</wsa:MessageID>
  <wsa:ReplyTo>
   <wsa:Address>http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/anonymous</wsa:Address>
  </wsa:ReplyTo>
  <wsa:FaultTo>
   <wsa:Address>http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/anonymous</wsa:Address>
  </wsa:FaultTo>
</env:Header>
<env:Body>
  <processResponse
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/RestTest1/RestTest1/BPELProcess1"/>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>
I know tha my restful service response is:
<HTML>
        <HEAD>
        <TITLE>Error 400 Bad Request</TITLE>
        </HEAD>
        <BODY>
        <H1>Error 400 Bad Request</H1>
        <H2>Request-URI is in an unknown single-character namespace.</H2>
        </BODY>
</HTML>
What can I do to see this response i my bpel process response? It is a problem that I get HTML? In osb I see every error, message... Other thing is when I'm using mediator component I get fault with message invalid or null response. I want to see in my response what restful service send me back.
Thanks in advance,
Adrian

Reading the docs on RESTFul services
http://www.ddj.com/architect/199902676
http://www.webreference.com/programming/basic_soa/
It is not in BPEL. The question we can ask is, why do you want RESTFull service. Looking at the difference:
!http://www.webreference.com/programming/basic_soa/table3-1.gif!
SOAP services overlaps the functionality of RESTFull. Only RESTFul do not have a WSDL definition.

    I need to invoke Restful service from OSB11g in order to do that...
    1. I have created Business service with the end point of the RESTful service.

    Hi Vasu,
    did you solve your issue ?
    I have a similar scenario where I need to call a RESTful service from OSB.
    The RESTful URL service is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer and has been implemented in IIS.
    The service accepts a xml string message as input and returns an HttpStatusCode.
    So I started defining a business service (named OrderTracer):
    Service Type: Any XML Service
    Endpoint URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer
    HTTP Request Method:POST
    I tested it from business service test console:
    - in Transport
    -> query-string I put my input xml
    -> http-method: POST
    -> Content-Type: text/xml
    but on execute I got an error:
    <con:metadata xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/test/config">
    <tran:headers xsi:type="http:HttpResponseHeaders" xmlns:http="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports/http" xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

  • Getting "Origin is not allowed" When Trying to Invoke RESTful Service from Another Domain

    I am having problems trying to invoke my RESTful web service from a different domain. I'm well aware of the normal restrictions of cross-site / cross-domain scripting but in Oracle documentation it says that all origins are allowed by default when creating a RESTful service without using authentication.
    I have created a very simple service and am trying to invoke it using jQuery.Ajax calls from a different domain and I am getting XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://address_to_my_web_service. Origin http://calling_from_address is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.
    I understand that using JSONP instead of JSON is actually the best practice around cross-site scripting but it appears as though APEX does not support JSONP because with JSONP, there are URI parameters added to the base request (callback).
    I am stuck and would greatly appreciate any help.
    I'm starting to wonder if this could be a bug because Oracle documentation says all origins should be allowed when using a service that does not require authentication. I also tried to force the origin to be allowed by typing it in and also using the wildcard '*' and it still did not work.
    Thanks,
    Mark Williamson
    EDIT: It is now working after adding a URI prefix to my web service module.

    The SSL handshake works differently to a browser as it is making the connections automatically.
    The browser asks every time if you want to trust an expired certificate, and it also recommends not to. Its impractical to manually check every service call to say do you trust the certificate so the functionality doesn't exist. I doubt any integration product does this. Therefore there isn't a option to ignore the certificate if it has expired.
    This makes sence as the certificate is untrustworthy. The whole idea around SSL is trusting the site you are communicating with, all parties need to be trusted. This stops hackers from replicating their site and intercepting data.
    If the administrator of the remote site is not willing to renew the certificate, are they really interested in SSL. I suggest they expose a non SSL service.
    cheers

  • SOA Suite 11.1.1.4.0 - Unable to invoke REST service from BPEL

    Hi all,
    I am trying to invoke a REST service from BPEL.
    I am supposed to call the following REST URL:
    http://apolloiserdev.corp.webex.com/ExportComplianceWS/webresources/ECCheck/emailDomainCheck/[email protected]
    In order to achieve this:
    1. I created an empty composite
    2. Added a HTTP Binding as external reference
         2.1 In the HTTP Binding wizard, I copied the above URL in 'Endpoint'
         2.2 Operation Name --> request-response
         2.3 Verb --> GET
         2.4 Created XSD for Req and resp and added those in 'Messages'
    Now, when I deploy and test this process, I get the following error messages:
    Unable to access the following endpoint(s): REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL
    Unable to access the following endpoint(s): http://apolloiserdev.corp.webex.com/ExportComplianceWS/webresources/ECCheck/emailDomainCheck/[email protected]/ExportComplianceWS/webresources/ECCheck/emailDomainCheck/[email protected]
    However, when I open the same URL using my web browser or test it using Mozilla REST client, I get a success response.
    Am I missing out something in my BPEL process?
    Regards,
    Arindam

    Not sure if this helps. But for rest based services we need to create a WSDL which has http protocol and get/post method like below
    types>
    <message name="HttpPostParamIn">
    <part name="param1" type="xsd:string"/>
    <part name="param2" type="xsd:string"/>
    </message>
    <message name="HttpPostParamOut">
    <part name="Body" element="get:Request"/>
    </message>
    <portType name="HttpPostParamPortType">
    <operation name="PostData">
    <input message="tns:HttpPostParamIn"/>
    <output message="tns:HttpPostParamOut"/>
    </operation>
    </portType>
    <binding name="HttpPostParamBinding" type="tns:HttpPostParamPortType">
    <http:binding verb="POST"/>
    <operation name="PostData">
    <http:operation location="/EchoApp/echo"/>
    <input>
    <mime:content type="application/x-www-form-urlencoded"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <mime:mimeXml part="Body"/>
    </output>
    </operation>
    </binding>
    <service name="PostParamService">
    <port name="HttpPostParamPort" binding="tns:HttpPostParamBinding">
    <http:address location="http://localhost:7001"/>
    </port>
    </service>
    <plnk:partnerLinkType name="PostParamService">
    <plnk:role name="PostParamServiceProvider">
    <plnk:portType name="tns:HttpPostParamPortType"/>
    </plnk:role>
    </plnk:partnerLinkType>
    definitions>
    And then use this wsdl to invoke it from BPEL.like any other wsdl using partner link.

  • RESTFul services

    Hi.
    I'm implementing a Java Wrapper to invoke RESTFul services.
    I tested some of them and it's running fine. However i'm having some problems with Search REST API.
    My enviroment is described as follow:
    - Oracle WebCenter Portal : Spaces PS5 with OAM SSO configured and Oracle OHS as webserver.
    - .../rest/api/resourceIndex is succesful and i tested getGroupSpaces functionallity through Java Code and directly URL.
    However, i'm trying to invoke http://host/rest/api/searchresults?startIndex={startIndex}&mimetype={mimetype}&q={q}&serviceId={serviceId}&refiners={refiners}&data={data}&scopeGuid={scopeGuid}&itemsPerPage={itemsPerPage}&utoken=FIgDJVfHs52CpShC6gpum8qE6X8A_w**
    Can provide me a sample of replaced param that works?. I tried a lot of ways and i'm getting HTTP 501 or 403 sometimes!! (strange).
    I'll check OAM WebTier (WebCenter REST Auth Policy) and more parameters...
    Any tip or suggest are welcome :).
    Update: All seems configurated
    Regards.

    Why don't you try out this https://mgmt2.espressologic.com/Management/?accountType=eval#/ and get faster de-bugged RESTful service for your backend.
    It will get you started within a minute and solve your http 501 and param issues in no time.

    and now I'm getting the loginStatus i.e userid of user "arvind".
    But while executing the invocation of web service call I'm getting the same exception.
    Do we need to give some permission somewhere for this user ? or I'm doing something wrong with restSecurityConfiguration.xml

  • Oracle Service Bus 10.3 - Invoke a REST service in split join flow

    Hi
    I am using WebLogic Workshop to design a split-join service that needs to call 2 services and combine their responses.
    Service A - WSDL based service
    Service B - REST service
    In the split join flow I am able to invoke Service A just fine. However I do not have a way to call Service B. When I open the invoke dialog it only list WSDL based services.
    Does this mean in a split join I can only invoke WSDL based services or is this a bug in Weblogic Workshop.
    I can get around this by creating a WSDL based proxy that calls the REST service but was hoping I do not have to go down this route.
    Any guidance is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Nilay

    I think that Split-Joins are implemented in BPEL. Just look at your .flow file and you will see all those BPEL directives. That's why you probably need your service to be described by WSDL, so you are probably on the right way.

  • What is the best approach to invoke secured REST Services from SOA

    Hi there,
    I've a REST service which expects username and password to access it.
    To Invoke it I'm passing the credentials as properties in composite.xml under <reference> section as shown below.
    <property name="oracle.webservices.auth.username" type="xs:string"
                    many="false" override="may">USERNAME</property>
    <property name="oracle.webservices.auth.password" type="xs:string"
                    many="false" override="may">PASSWORD</property>
    Is there any way to use OWSM to achieve the same?
    Please suggest if there is better approach. I'm Using SOA Suite PS6
    Thanks
    JGun

    For external entities, the best practice is to access the rest service in OSB (as Business Service) and if needed, virtualize the access via an Proxy Service (can be used a Web Service transaction) and than consume the OSB in SOA Suite.

    Yes, it failed during insert using AL2.0.1.
    So the above statement produces the following error message:

    <an identifier> <a double-quoted delimited-idThis suggests to me that an unprintable character (notice how there is nothing between the double quotes - "") has worked its way into your PL/SQL Handler. Note how the error is reported to be a column 74 on line 2, yet line 2 of the above block should only have 58 characters, so at a pure guess somehow there's extra whitespace on line 2, that is confusing the PL/SQL compiler, I suggest re-typing the PL/SQL handler manually and seeing if that cures the problem.

  • TNS timed out error while testing REST service

    Hi There,
    We had a new application which was to get and post data using REST API which connects to an internal server. This works fine when we use the Google Chrome Advance REST application through the browser, but get a TNS timed out when trying through Apex
    Even a simple sql in the SQL workarea in Apex throws the same error
    select utl_http.request( 'http://ourserver.com/api/subscriptions') test
    from dual;
    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at &quot;SYS.UTL_HTTP&quot;, line 1130 ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out
    Any idea, what the issue could be?   Works fine from the browser though using a REST client
    Trying this for the first time.
    thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
    During your installation, did you follow the steps to enable Network Services, which is one of the requirements when using web services in APEX.  You'll find the necessary information in the installation guide.   Also in your utl_http.request call, have you tried specifying a proxy, if one is required?  You might also want to take a look at at apex_web_service API, specifically the make_rest_request function, which might be useful if you're looking to invoke a RESTful Service via PL/SQL in your application.

  • Getting Excel to interpret the return string of a WEBSERVICE() function using a WCF REST service.

    I am using the WEBSERVICE() function in Excel and a WCF REST service is called through this function.
    The web service returns a string value of true or false when invoked.  E.g. <string xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/">True</string>
    This has been confirmed through debugging and it seems to be working fine when invoked through a client application or browser.
    However, the result shown in the cell in the Excel sheet is #VALUE!. This particular cell has a custom format (set using the Format Cells ... option) that displays "Yes" or "No". (The
    custom format is "Yes" ; "Yes" ; "No".)  Is this the correct way of interpreting the results of a Web Service method called in Excel? Does a #VALUE! result actually imply a formatting issue or some other interpretation
    error? Is there anything missing? Can somebody suggest ideas?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Keith

    Have you used the formula FILTERXML(xml, xpath) function to extract single pieces of data from the XML string?
    If not, please follow the blog below, the author will guide you to get data from Webservice.

  • OSB invoking RESTful webservices:issue with relative-URI instead of

    Hi,
    We have a requirement where we need to pass the request content as string in the URL.
    we need to send the request in the URL like:
    http://abc.com/rest/xvf/nas<Employee><name>abc</name><empid>1234</empid>...<Employee>
    we have used a servicecallout action which is invoking a business service which has the base uri value like:
    http://abc.com/rest
    and in the insert action we are trying to appened the remaining uri in the rest command i.e
    <http:relative-URI>/xvf/nas{fn-bea:serialize($xmldata)}</http:relative-URI>
    here $xmldata is <Employee><name>abc</name><empid>1234</empid>...<Employee>
    while trying to invoke the service we are getting the error like:
    BEA-380000: General runtime error: Illegal character in path at index 36: http://abc.com/rest/xvf/nas& lt ; Employee>& lt ; name>abc& lt ; /name>& lt ; empid>1234>...& lt ; Employee>
    before to that we used fn-bea:inlinedXML and fn:bea:serialize functions on the retrieved xml and stored it into the xmldata variable and this variable is displaying the request in the proper xml file, but while appending it to the relative URI method the xml data is changing as like shown above i.e instead of < it is coming as & lt ; and at the end with out invoking the servie it is stoppeing at the OSB with the above error as illegal character, please advice..
    how to append the proper xml to the URL/URI in the relative-URI method in the proxy transport??
    as here it is coming & lt ; (combined with out space) as < i am changing it as like & lt ; for better understanding
    Thanks..

  • How to set the HTTP headers in HTTP Binding to call RESTful service

    I'm calling a RESTful service from the SOA Composite through a BPEL process. The RESTful service need few values to be set in the HTTP header to authorize the request. • Expose REST service in PI

    Hi all,
    I kindly ask if it's possible to expose a REST web service with PI to be called from an external application.
    I've created many scenarios in wich I created a SOAP service (from service interface) in PI and I was able to call the service from an external application (e.g. SOAPUi).
    Is it possible to make the same thing exposing a REST service (the url should contain parameters).
    I've seen some discussions and blogs with examples of usage of "SOAP Axis" but it seems it's be possible only to invoke an external service.
    Is it possible also to create a REST web-service?
    If yes could you please provide examples or step-by-step procedure?
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Stefano.

    Hi Stefano,
    please check the below link where REST adapter key features.
    >>>I kindly ask if it's possible to expose a REST web service with PI to be called from an external application.
    It can be used to expose internal applications as REST services or to consume external REST services by calling these services from SAP PI.
